Redondo Beach Super Bowl 10K/5K

I just registered for this! It's a great route and you get TWO free beers after your finish! :)

Christina, looks like a really cool event.
Unfortunately I plan to do the Surf City Run
on this very day (Super Bowl Sunday) ... weird.
So I'll have to catch this run 2011 perhaps.  G'luck!

it's a very short, but steep hil, and it's toward the end.  it slowed me down a bit, but the end of the race has a steady downhill where you can help pick up some lost time there! other than that, it's a fairly fast and easy route! i'm excited for it. it'll be my first face of the new year!

This run was so much fun!  The beers at the end of the finish line gave to the strength and motivation to go even faster.  I never thought 5/10Ks could be like this.

Fun event - plus we had some great weather today. Nothing like the feeling of sitting in the sun while having a cold beer at 8:15 in the morning!!!

I'm responding to the email request to post feedback into Yelp.  I ran the race this morning, and it was my first RB Super Bowl 10K race.  I've raced one other 10K in Brentwood and also have done some half marathons and 5Ks.  This race course was really fun.  The city is beautiful, and it was neat running it with so many people from the area.  Coming around about mile 4 and seeing the ocean was wonderful.  The bagpiper along the route was great, I love having something distract me from the race now and then like music, etc.  I loved the price especially, I got in with early registration.  Everything operated pretty smoothly, and I'm very impressed with primetime that they got the times up on Active so quickly (probably was up by noon, same day).

There is room for improvement though.  Maybe the 10K should have started in two waves.  I expect the start to be crowded, but we were jammed up for a good mile or two at the beginning.  Two waves would have spread it out more.  Or, I imagine many of the participants had not been in races before, or were unaware of ettiquite.  There were people walking the whole way, and that's fine, except they should be encouraged to start in the back.  That would have been safer, too.  Speaking of safety, I'm glad there weren't any dogs on the course.  With such a crowd, it's too dangerous for the people and the dogs.

Then at the end, I was hoping there would be some food.  Fruits or bagels or something, especially since beer was being served.  Maybe I didn't see the food and it was there, but I did appreciate the bottle of water that was at the end.  I know some fellow racers missed the water, though.  Somehow they got out of the exit lane and missed the water booth.

Thanks a lot to the people running and helping out with the event - it was a fun way to spend the morning, and I look forward to participating next year!

This is a great race. Besides the two beers at the finish, it is probably one of the most well-organized 10ks in the South Bay. I've ran this one, the Manhattan Beach 10k and the American Martyrs 5k. The Manhattan Beach one is a mess, but it's a nice course. American Martyrs is nice and small. The Redondo Superbowl 10k is a medium sized race, but the great thing is they always start on time and they also separate the runner categories. They have the 5k start at 730, the mommies/strollers at 8 and the 10k at 830. The course is nice...a few medium grade hills but I've ran it twice and it's a really beautiful run.

I am responding to the request to rate the race...I have done this race for the past 6 consecutive years.  This year just did not seem to have the vibe of years past.   Very few give-aways by the sponsors and the food was non-existent (or at least very hard to be found).  The RB Police seemed to be a bit more persnickety this year and parking was worse than in previous years.  Still, a great way to burn off calories before the Big Game!

Great event...did the 5K last year and did the 10K this year with a chest cold! Great views along the water on the Esplanade on the home stretch!

2010 Redondo Beach Super Bowl 10K was my first 10K ever and it was AWESOME!  There was so much great energy from the crowd!  Flat course in the beginning, then some mild incline, but also some downhill parts too.  The 2nd half was the straightaway on the Esplanade near the ocean.  Just beautiful!  Watch out for the that steep hill at the end though!  I thought the "Two beers for every runner" at the end of the race was a fun touch!

Come on the race is great love the time chips brewski's at the end people Redondo what more could you want???? NOT the same t-shirt in a different color...... where is the creativity of RB man. 2011 better not be the same boring tshirt in yet another color.

This was my first 5K.  Great race.  I think I l saw Sponge Bob pass me in the last km!

Did anyone's else have a problem finding their race time on http://active.com?  I know I passed over both the start and finish sensor pads but my time was nowhere to be found among the results...  I even went so far as to check under all the different 5k/10k/baby buggy results :(  Otherwise, great race as usual!  Gotta love the costumes and local crowds!
