What/Why:
Portland Theatre Works is proud to present Portland playwright Andrew Wardenaar, "Live From Douglas" for its April Freshworks Stage Reading series.
Hell hath no panic like a Douglas revealed, although until now that wasn't a problem.  Douglas is a happy, hidden town.  Everyone is named Douglas, likes tea,  and gardening, and the quiet life.  The world doesn't bother them and they don't bother the world.  Until a renegade Doug invites radio reporter Harrient Mirion to do a piece on Douglas.  Will the feature she's planning ruin their little utopia?
Andrew Wardenaar is an aspiring dramatist who is happy to call Portland home. Since moving back after college, he has become entranced by playwriting.  For the past two years, he has fed his hunger by taking courses through Portland Center Stage and Portland State University.  "Live, from Douglas" is his first full-length play.
Portland Theatre Works is dedicated to connecting new scripts and playwrights to audiences in Portland.  Their FreshWorks series offers a monthly staged readings of developing scripts.  After the reading, audience members can stay for a talk-back session with the playwright, asking questions and giving feedback that will help the fledgling script mature into a play ready for a full performance.
