I have not been to CocoWalk in a long time, is it really as bad as the recent reviews?

I never go to CocoWalk anymore, I just head for Main Highway/Commodore Plaza or the bookstore.

I think people arrive with higher expectations then Cocowalk ever provided.  It's an alright place if you go there thinking just that.  It's not as run down as most of the places I've been to in Miami and stores are opening and closing just like any other mall.  I think that people expect it to be more then a mall and some shops.

They've moved Starbucks in and have a Piano bar replacing Tu To Tango which is fine by me since I like piano bars and didn't see the point of Tu To Tango.  With staple resturants like The Cheesecake Factory and Chilli's, Starbucks and a Movie Theater I like it just fine.  Plus garage parking!  Over priced but at least your car is cool with you get back to it.

Cocowalk was at first a nightclub place for all the UM students to go to...they had baja beach club, tutu tangos, fat tuesday.  then i think the people that lived around there got tired of the loud noise from all the late-niters riding around and parking in their lots..  so cocowalk ended up transforming themselves...a lot of the nightclub life was removed (same thing goes for mayfair and adjoining areas) and replaced with big box retailers..  and with it a lot of that wild crazyness left too..the area is still a nuthouse during halloween though.
