Behold acts of Lust, Murder and Holy War with an anime twist and hip-hop music! Pippin is composed by the same composers of Wicked and Godspell.
As a Board Member of East West Players, I invite you to join me for Opening Night with a wine and food reception hosted by Japon Bistro (voteed #1 sushi restaurant in Pasadena).
IF YOU WANT TO SEE IT FOR VERY CHEAP, go to the May 15th show which is a "pay-what-you-can" performance. Support Asians in the Arts...and hot talented Asian people!
PAY WHAT YOU CAN NIGHT (MAY 15TH):
This is a lot like "student rush" at any theater. The line starts at 6:30 pm and all unsold tickets are released for pay what you can. There is some risk because it depends on the number of tickets released, people in line, popularity etc like any other student rush.
VOLUNTEER INFORMATION:
If anyone would like to volunteer for any show (and then also see the show for free), please contact Aldan who is our coordinator. EWP will typically need 2-4 ushers per each show, depending on the crowd. He will usually send emails to the interested parties and then whoever replies will get in.
The Tony Award winning musical PIPPIN receives a revitalizing twist with theatre anime visuals, hip-hop dance influence and contemporary music arrangements live on stage. Journey with Pippin as he braves the challenges found in the worlds of war, pleasure, politics, art, religion and love as he searches for his true calling. A stunning example of Magic and Merriment! You will witness acts of Lust, Murder and Holy War! From the composer who brought you WICKED and GODSPELL!

awwww, Thanks Joan. I appreciate the support. Just trying to bring something different to Yelp once in awhile. EWP actually does 4 performances a year but this is the only one I really liked.
Opening night with wine/food reception with Japon Bistro, $70: May 14th
and yes, if you volunteer to usher than you can watch the show for free if you don't mind standing. We could always use more volunteers especially during the gala. All the volunteers usually get to meet the "stars" at the gala like the ones who were excited to meet Jabbawockeez this year and Daniel Dae Kim last year.
Cool, Jac! I was just thinking people could usher on other nights if they want to see the show but can't make the pay what you want night. I've never done it myself but know others who like it. EWP and Lodestone are wonderful AaAm community theaters. I believe people should support theater in general.
Jacqueline, do you buy the May 15th tickets in advance or do you have to get them at the door? We want to come up from San Diego but not if it's a risk we won't get in. Thanks!
