Brion "Sal!" S. says:
A Comicon is Born.
We're in the stretch run now, and this will probably be our last newsletter before the show. Everyone involved is incredibly excited, and we just wanted to mention a few things before the craziness of Saturday overtakes us.
First, Chris and I want to say thank you to a bunch of people that have helped out to make this show possible.
Thanks to all of our sponsors. Without them, this event would probably not have happened. If you have a minute, go check out our Sponsors Page and visit their sites. Every one of them were integral in the success of the First Windy City Comicon.
Next, we would like to thank all of our Guests and Exhibitors. Chicago has such a strong community of comic book professionals and publishers, and that fact was really the impetus of the Windy City Comicon. We wanted to be able to showcase the amazing and talented writers, artists and publishers that call Chicago their home, as well as our out-of-towners that are making a special trip to be a part of it.
Also, a special thanks to our guests that are taking part of the events in the Center Theater. We hope you check out all the panels about writing, drawing and coloring comics, to our Podcaster Bonanza and Filmmaker Michael Ramova's short films. All events are free with paid entry, and seating is limited. For more information visit our Events Page.
Finally, we would like to thank all of you, for your enthusiasm and support. The positive feedback to the show has been overwhelming, and it has given us the energy to put this thing together. We've already had dozens of you pre-register for the show, from Missouri, Indiana, Wisconsin, Ohio, Iowa, New York and all over Illinois. Don't forget that everyone that pre-registers is guaranteed a Windy City Comicon Goodie Bag, filled with comics, stickers and more! Pre-registration ends today at 4:00pm CST, so visit our Tickets Page and get yours today, if you haven't already.
And don't forget that the party doesn't end after the Con! The Official After-Party starts at 7:00 at Villains Bar & Grill. Free shuttle busses will be available from the center, at 6:30 and 8:30. These are one-way shuttles. No return-trips will be made.
As a reminder, parking in and around The Center on Halsted can be tricky. There is plenty of street parking in the neighborhood, but remember to double check for permit signs when you park. There are various pay parking lots around the center, and metered parking on several of the heavy traffic streets. If you can, use public transportation. The CTA is fast and inexpensive.
Thanks again to everyone invovled. This has been a fantastic experience. One we hope can grow each and every year. This show has already taken on a life of its own, and for two comic geeks like Chris and myself, it doesn't get any better.
We'll see you on Saturday!
