We've got two more great creators announced today. 20 year veteran scribe Rafael Nieves, and Cursed Pirate Girl creator Jeremy Bastain.

Rafael Nieves
Rafael is a 20 year vet in the comics field. His credits include Hellstorm: Prince of Lies for Marvel, The Phantom, Vampire: The Masquerade, and Mr. Moto for Mooonstone, and adaptations of Nosferatu and Edgar Allan Poe's The Bells for Caliber.

Jeremy Bastain
Scoundrel, bandit, defiler of the Omerta seas? Jeremy Bastian has been known as all three. With his creation of Cursed Pirate Girl, Bastian's 19th century-styled found a voice in the 21st century. Those tiny, tiny lines hold secrets, matey. Deep, dark waters.

Starting at noon the Windy City Comicon will feature Creating Comics Classes with comic professionals Skottie Young, Will Pfeifer and others teaching you how to make comics. Don't miss out on this opportunity to learn from some of the best in the business.

12:00 - What's the big idea? Writing for Comics.
Having a great idea for a story is only the beginning. Getting that idea to the written page is the first step in the creation of comic books and graphic novels. Join comic book scribes Will Pfeifer (Catwoman, Wonder Woman, Blue Beetle) Josh Elder (Mail Order Ninja, Batman Strikes) and Mike Kennedy (Star Wars, Aeon Flux, Superman: Infinite City) for an informative class and question and answer session on the craft of writing comics.

1:00 - Drawing Comics the Awesome Way.
Skottie Young has been creating amazing art on his own terms for years. Not just a rising talent anymore, Skottie is currently taking his work from the world of superheroes and bringing it to Marvel's Illustrated: The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. This class is your chance to learn more about Skottie's process and ask him questions about drawing your own comics... The Awesome Way.

2:00 - What does CMYK mean? Coloring Comics in the Digital World.
The art of coloring comics has changed dramatically in the last decade. New technologies and skills have opened up a world of possibilities for adding color and effects to the printed page. Jason Millet will show you the tricks of the trade and answer your questions about all things color.

3:00 - We don't need no stinking paper! Publishing Comics to the Web.
The paperless society comes front and center in this class about delivering your comics to the web. The doors are wide open, and now you can publish your creation for the world to see. Join web comics experts Tony Breed, John Campbell, C. Spike Trotman and Justin Pierce for a hands on guide to publishing comics to the World Wide Web.

A Comicon is Born.

We're in the stretch run now, and this will probably be our last newsletter before the show. Everyone involved is incredibly excited, and we just wanted to mention a few things before the craziness of Saturday overtakes us.

First, Chris and I want to say thank you to a bunch of people that have helped out to make this show possible.

Thanks to all of our sponsors. Without them, this event would probably not have happened. If you have a minute, go check out our Sponsors Page and visit their sites. Every one of them were integral in the success of the First Windy City Comicon.

Next, we would like to thank all of our Guests and Exhibitors. Chicago has such a strong community of comic book professionals and publishers, and that fact was really the impetus of the Windy City Comicon. We wanted to be able to showcase the amazing and talented writers, artists and publishers that call Chicago their home, as well as our out-of-towners that are making a special trip to be a part of it.

Also, a special thanks to our guests that are taking part of the events in the Center Theater. We hope you check out all the panels about writing, drawing and coloring comics, to our Podcaster Bonanza and Filmmaker Michael Ramova's short films. All events are free with paid entry, and seating is limited. For more information visit our Events Page.

Finally, we would like to thank all of you, for your enthusiasm and support. The positive feedback to the show has been overwhelming, and it has given us the energy to put this thing together. We've already had dozens of you pre-register for the show, from Missouri, Indiana, Wisconsin, Ohio, Iowa, New York and all over Illinois. Don't forget that everyone that pre-registers is guaranteed a Windy City Comicon Goodie Bag, filled with comics, stickers and more! Pre-registration ends today at 4:00pm CST, so visit our Tickets Page and get yours today, if you haven't already.

And don't forget that the party doesn't end after the Con! The Official After-Party starts at 7:00 at Villains Bar & Grill. Free shuttle busses will be available from the center, at 6:30 and 8:30. These are one-way shuttles. No return-trips will be made.

As a reminder, parking in and around The Center on Halsted can be tricky. There is plenty of street parking in the neighborhood, but remember to double check for permit signs when you park. There are various pay parking lots around the center, and metered parking on several of the heavy traffic streets. If you can, use public transportation. The CTA is fast and inexpensive.

Thanks again to everyone invovled. This has been a fantastic experience. One we hope can grow each and every year. This show has already taken on a life of its own, and for two comic geeks like Chris and myself, it doesn't get any better.

We'll see you on Saturday!

Considering I skipped out on Chicago Comic Con for this, I'm ready to GO!  Can't wait...

Also, this event is confusing.  It's last years but with the date changed?  I call for new event thread! :-)
