This is the kind of place to tell your mother to go to for autocare. Trustworthy and reliable. The reason you might have to wait a day or two sometimes to get service should tell you something for a small shop that doesn't advertise. These guys have great word of mouth. I don't know what the below poster is talking about having an unpleasant customer service. I usually shoot the sh*t for a minute with whoever is upfront and I have never had a complaint from the dozen or so friends and family members that I have referred.
If I could give 10 stars, I would
Great prices and very honest old school mechanic. This is the best place so far that I've taken my beater cars for repairs.
My 2001 Toyota Sienna had a bad air/fuel ratio sensor, I went to the Capitol Toyota first, they want to charge $250 part and $187 labor. As I am very busy with my work, I agreed. Then 2 hours later, they told me that they could not remove the sensor from the manifold, they have to change the manifold all together, I need to pay $1000 extra, I was shocked. The sensor is just like a nail screwed in manifold, it could be aged and with rust, but I could not understand how a Toyota dealer which charge $125/hour labor have to do this way to remove a sensor.
Then I went to Zuccato, John Zuccato is very professional, he told me how he would solve it, showed me his confidence and honest. I bought the sensor from Toyota and He changed it for only $70.
From the first glance, he made less money on this case, but my two cars will only be serviced in Zuccato in the future and my words will pass out to my colleagues and friends, I am sure Zuccato will have more loyal customers, honest and hard working people will be rewarded. Zuccatos a absolut 5 stars
Very friendly and very honest and cool. Turned in my Honda Civic since my engine light was on. They found that the catalytic converter was broken, which is usually more than $800. But they also told me they did some research and found out from Honda that the part was under warranty up to 150k miles! They even provided me with a phone number and a contact person at the nearest Honda dealer, where I got everything fixed under warranty. I thought that was incredible that they spent the time to find this out for me. I will definitely be back.

I created a Yelp account just to review this insanely amazing mechanic (I realize that's not that big a deal, but that's not the point).
I had been told by Midas that I needed $1,700 of work done on my '98 Camry -- then I went to Zuccato's (after reading the Yelp reviews) and they came out and asked, "Do you want the good news or the good news?" -- NOTHING needed to be done. Nothing! And they only charged $20 for the whole inspection, as opposed to other places which can charge up to $120. They could tell my car was originally an East Coast car and they said that other than being a rust-bucket, the car was in great shape.
They were so honest, I tried to tip them and they cracked up and said that was such an East Coast thing to do...?!
So, I can't speak for their repairs or other prices (yet) but this is the most honest mechanic, and that's usually what's most important. Also, I'm a 20-something girl so I would recommend this to girls and women who are worried about getting ripped off just because of that.
Seriously, this place rocks -- totally worth a drive from any other Peninsula city.

Service was quick and reasonable. The shop doesn't look like much but these guys are good at what they do. It's a job and a hobby.

Great service and good prices. I was getting ready to drive across the country and had a problem with my wheel. Based on other reviews, I called Zuccato's to see if I could schedule an appointment for that day. They were booked for the day; but when I told John my situation, he told me to bring it in and they would work on it when they got a chance that day. They fixed the problem quickly and it was a lot less than I was expecting. They are very honest and are not looking to rip you off. I would recommend Zuccato's to anyone.
I went here on recommendation of my brother, who is a long-time customer, and I was glad I did.
Honest, skilled, and fair people run Zuccato's Auto Care. Their labor rates aren't the cheapest, but the do the job right, and never try to persuade you into anything your car doesn't really need. If the repair will cost more than you car is probably worth, they'll tell you, and also let you know if you can let a problem remain unfixed for awhile. They work to assess your repair needs quickly, and keep you well informed about repair process. Very polite and friendly people run the place and work there. You can't find a better repair shop.

Excellent, fast, honest service. I shopped around a LOT to have my brakes done, because it seemed like everyone wanted to charge me about $300 more than what would be reasonable anywhere but in the Bay Area. Well I can say that Zuccato's has *very* good pricing for the area (a little steep compared to Detroit, but I am well aware of cost-of-living differences and such). They were very straightforward and nice. I just got back so I can't comment on the quality of the service just yet, but based on their level of professionalism I would guess that the work is of the highest quality.

Service was great, price was good, and turn-around was above average.
The best part though is that they are not going to bullsh*t you into having a bunch of services done that you didn't come for. They seem like a very honest bunch of guys; what more do you need when you know absolutely nothing about cars.
The ratings are true. If your car needs help, these guys are honest and reliable. It might take a few days to get your car scheduled for an appointment. but it is worth the wait.
Just be sure to pay attention to the sign on the side of the road, because it is easy to miss!
Great in all respects! My only concern is *how* cheap it was - as my friend Dan says, never trust the "low bidder."
Unless this review is "updated" in the next month after my car completely falls apart on the 280, consider me a very satisfied customer. Note, I do not expect this to happen.
Also note that these guys seem pretty no nonsense (at least John) and can occasionally be a little gruff. Don't go in and expect them to make you feel warm and fuzzy inside or spend an hour explaining everything thats wrong even though they know its all flyin over your head (as it would mine). They just to do good work, quickly and cheaply.
One final note, and this is NOT in reference to Zuccato's or my experience there. Be an informed car owner! Put yourself in their shoes - walkin in and saying "hey, there's something wrong with my car but i don't know what, and i don't know anything about cars whatsoever and haven't called anyone else and can you just look at it and see if you find anything wrong, and here's my visa" is like asking a recovering alcoholic to guard your wine cellar for you while you're gone for the weekend. Don't put people in positions where you're asking to be taken advantage of and learn (yes) from Reagan - "trust but verify!"
I learned that the hard way.
update 11-08-2007: it's still truckin. and i'm still not an informed car owner - do as i say, and what not!

This place is great. They go above and beyond to make sure you don't spend more money than you need to getting your car fixed. Always friendly and helpful, and they get the job done quickly.

I cannot say enough good things about this place. Their honesty just blows me away. Plus, they fix cars good! No, really - I can take my car in, they'll give me a quick and reasonable estimate, and then when I pick the car up, it actually comes in under the estimate!! I've never, ever taken my car to a shop that isn't trying to over-charge, or tries to tell me that my car needs more work than it does. Take your car here. You won't regret it!

I went to them for a second opinion regarding my brakes. turns out 30 mins later they said that the brakes were like new. The first (big name) mechanic i went wanted me to change them for $600++. Just paid $20 for the check. Reasonable sum that saved me hundreds of dollars.
I am rating this auto body shop primarily based on its customer service. I had a horrible experience here in terms of how I was treated. I went to this shop a few weeks ago after reading its 5-star Yelp reviews. I asked normal questions regarding getting a quote, if I could get the quote in writing, etc. The person working at the front desk slammed down his clipboard a few times, sighed at me, and basically acted like every question I asked him was the stupidest thing he had ever heard. I understand people have bad days, but this treatment was unacceptable. I was on the verge of walking out, but I ended up getting my service done there only because I was in a huge rush and was going out of town. The price and repairs seemed fine, but their customer service gets a grade of "F" from me. Based on all the great things the other Yelpers are saying about this place, it seems that maybe I just caught them on a bad day. I hope that is true, but I won't take my chances. I will never go back, nor would I recommend this place to my friends and family.
John and Mike are amazing. They have been in the business for a long time and usually beat book time and charge you for their time, not the book time.
I had my belts changed for $45 labor/$42.95 parts, power steering pressure hose $125 labor/$89.01 parts. Oil Change was $40. The employees speak clearly.
I would recommend this place to everyone. I definitely look forward to going back knowing that they will treat me well and honestly.
