The food here was great! My sister and I stumbled upon this place after we decided not to wait in line for Westville. She was really craving gnocci and after skimming over the menu posted by the door, we decided to give this place a try.
I had the strozzapreti with shrimp, zucchini, and tomatoes. The pasta and shrimp were perfectly cooked, and the sauce was amazing! My sister had the potato and butternut squash gnocci with pancetta and pesto. We shared a caprese salad - fresh mozzarella, tomato, basil, roasted red pepper, and prosciutto over endives and drizzled with balsamic and olive oil. Everything was delicious! For dessert, we had tiramisu and a cannoli, it was good, but nothing too special.
The ambiance was warm and inviting. Our waiter and the rest of the staff was very attentive, and checked on us multiple times during our meal. I love that this place had such an authentic Italian feel, I definitely recommend it.
Very bland Italian food. Service was so-so. Dry chicken, pasta was pretty tasteless. With so Many great Italian restaurants in the west village, there's no point in trying this one. You feel like you could be in any suburb from the design of the restaurant, and the food too.
Also, they have these low-hanging lights above the tables. My friend stood up to use the restroom, and hit her head on one. And the waiter rushed to the table (the fastest service of the evening) and did not ask if she was OK, but said, "THESE LIGHTS ARE HEAVY- WATCH OUT" ... he was more concerned about the lights than if a paying customer hit themselves.
I've never been to a place with such a bad service in NYC. The waiter gave us so much attitude, I couldn't believe what I was experiencing.... He also screwed our bill and still gave us an attitude. I guess it was too hard for him.
They were playing the baseball game and they (including the owner) were screaming really loud all night long... thought it was a nice chic italian restaurant... I guess NOT.
I will never go back there. What a nightmare... I shouldn't even give a STAR.
Loved this place! Great find! Wonderful Italian spot in the West Village. The food is amazing, the service is on point, and the ambiance is classy and tasteful - a very authentic Italian feel. Fantastic food, especially the gnocchi, bruschetta, salads and the Bolognese pasta dish was out of this world. Delicious deserts too! I will be returning for sure - great for a date or just a night out with friends
I had a delightful experience at Zucca. The food especially the homemade pasta with bolognese sauce was incredible. There was a great wine selection as well. The staff including both the owners who came over to the table to greet us and check to see how we were enjoying our meal was extremely inviting and the atmosphere was warm. I will be returning.
