A vegan pizza I can eat without compromising my beliefs, my health & mother earth?!? And WITH a whole wheat crust!?!?!
The vegan cheese used is Daiya. Not many places use it. I know Amici's uses it and it is AMAZING. They even have crumbled vegan beef crumbles, fresh veggies. YUM. I had their Berkeley Vegan Pizza. It was divine.
But since i'm such a Daiya fan, next time I'm going to build my own pizza with Daiya, Jalapenos, mushrooms & artichoke hearts!! YUM!!
A new age is before us.
No longer will we, animal-free foodies, be forced to eat pizza that tastes like feet. Not again will we be puking out of our asses following consumption of goopy, tasteless soy cheese. Nevermore will oily nutritional yeast sauce slide out of our sandwiches.
A new vegan cheese has been created. Its name is Daiya, and it melts, stretches, and tastes like a cold lake on a sunny day. And its even free of soy. Zpizza just started using it, and while it is a national chain, there ain't one in Oakland. We traveled all the way to Fremont for pizza and it was worth it.
Yes, I'm a huge fan of this thin crusted slice of pizza goodness! They have unusual pizza toppings that the big chain places don't have like goat cheese, pine nuts, and egg plant. But that's why I like them! They also have "normal" pizza like pepperoni and sausage.
My favorite pizza to get there has carmelized onions and shitake mushrooms and the other one I really enjoy has pesto sauce, egg plant and pine nuts.
I go there for lunch sometimes since it is close to my work. They have a lunch special where you can get 2 slices of pizza and a drink for under six bucks. Cheap and tastey!
If you sign up for their mailing list you can get coupons emailed to you plus sometimes they have buy one get one free specials on whole pizzas. And did I mention the organic ingredients?
If you got 6 bucks and some change and are in the Warm Springs hood of Fremont, stop by there for a bite. The staff is very friendly and welcoming.
Got a slice of cheese pizza from here .... it was okay nothing really special. It did not have that much cheese mostly tomato sauce but it was pretty cheap and the slice was pretty big too!
Also got a cookie too, it was okay.
This place has some cheap ass pizza. Not a bad place to come for lunch but don't expect to be wow'ed by their pizza. It's pretty standard and run of the mill but you can't beat their cheap prices
This particular location is filthy. The Ex-PLI (Primary Love Interest) and I used to come here to visit her younger sister who worked here with her effeminate, closeted gay boyfriend. For the record, these two sisters had more in common than DNA.
Anyway, even with the pizza being free with a "family discount" it still was not very good. In fact, it was hard for me to finish one slice. I have tried slice after slice of this stuff and it's bad every single time. And a couple hours later, I am bloated, have cramps, and need to fart all the time.
So basically "Z Pizza" has the power to turn you into a women during the "zenith" of her menstrual cycle.
And to think, I hate their pizza this much and I never even had to pay for it.
Meh. Big Meh.
Ok this was my first time going to this place. I didn't know it was a pizza place trying to be healthy. That just means that they can charge more for organic veggies and crap like that. Their prices aren't bad, but their pizza is. Its a thin crust style with very little sauce and toppings. When I saw their pizzas on the rotating heater thing I knew i was going to be disappointed.
So I ordered one slice of pepperoni, and one sausage and mushrooms. She gives me a different pizza, WTF? I ask her this isn't what I ordered and she goes oh we don't have that. We only have whats in the rotating heater thing.... How was I supposed to know that, its says you guys make it on the menu. So yeah you can get whats inside that glass rotator...
I don't think i'm going to be back, I drove 30 minutes just for crap pizza. I'll stick to round table 5 minutes from my house. 1 extra star because they have a soda fountain with free refills.
Good pizza but not for everyone.Yea its a little different but in a good way. I really like the sasuage pizza a lot. Good service and the place is always clean. If you want greasy nasty pizza that you want to shower after eating this is not the place. If you want healthy better for you pizza try it out. They have a lot of different combos that no one else has.
I liked it the first time.
The second time, it was average, nothing great. But I might give it an other shot. And, I would still prefer them over any chain store pizza.
I was tired of all the other options I had exhausted for lunch, so I thought I had enough time to give Zpizza a try.
Well I was wrong since I had 30 minutes, and after standing in line and waiting in my pizza, I was 15 minutes late. Grrr.
So I ask for my pizza togo and continue sitting around staring at people eating their pizza with great envy.
I ordered mine with basil and tomato on it, so I'm not sure why it took so long to make.
When I finally did get it, I had to run to my car and start driving towards my next client. I did eat while I was driving and it was alright. I've had better, but this wasn't bad.
I docked a star for how long it took. Jeez, that was horrible! It wasn't good enough pizza to warrant another visit. It wasn't even that busy.
I'm not in the Tri-City area that often, but after hitting the shooting range in Milpitas, I was starving. Guess it was the BANG, hehe. Anyway, hubby remembered a Round Table being near by, so off we went to find it and satisfy the pizza craving I've been having all day. Thanks to getting lost and ending up across the street from Round Table, we found Z Pizza. We're all for trying new places and staying away from chains, and we don't have a Z Pizza near us so we decided to give it a try. Hella glad we did!
We ordered a small Caesar and a Z14 Santa Fe (chipotle pesto, chicken sausage, mozzarella, tomatoes, onions, and CORN). The Caesar was enough for two people, fresh romaine, dressing, croutons that were huge and did not come from a bag, and shaved parmesan! Was not expecting that from a small pizza place. Then the pizza comes, and OMG was it awesome! Just the LOOK of it had me drooling. Then comes the taste. OMG YUM! Just the right amount of spice from the chipotle pesto, cheese melted perfectly to be chewy and ooey gooey. The crust was perfectly crisp and soft/chewy. I always always must eat pizza with ranch, but I didn't even need it for this pizza. It was effing great.
I soooooooooooo wish there was a Z Pizza near me. Round Table, Pizza Hut, and Mountain Mike's would be soooooo fired!
Takes some chances and has some unique offerings.
In this area, its not easy to find soy cheese pizza.
In general, the pizzas taste pretty good first out of the oven.
Gets really dense after it gets cold, though. Maybe its the whole wheat crust. Hard to chew.
Flavors are also pretty strong. Get's overpowering after 1-2 slices.
Za pizza here sucks. I like how the crust on the bottom is thin, but the crusts on the edge are too hard. The tomato sauce here is basically flavorless, canned tomatoes. You can see the huge cans on the racks behind the register. I've eaten here twice. The first time I was inebriated, so the pizza was delicious. It's hard for me to think anything is not good when I'm drunk. The second time I came was during the week for lunch. The sober meal made me realize that this pizza was not as tasty as I thought it was.
2.5 stars
Not a great meal by far EXCEPT for the prices. They do deals for lunch time specials though. I would rate their pizza somewhere between Domino's and Take & Bake. FAIL.
I frequent this place about once a week. They have Gluten-free crust for those with a sensitivity to wheat gluten (Celiac Disease, etc).
The Gluten-free crust is very good, the best I've had. This is the only pizza joint in 20 miles that I know of that has gluten-free crust--and it's actually good!
The management is very nice and courteous. The meats are pretty good, but not quite "Round Table" good.
Pizza style preferences are very personal, and we really like this style. Thin crispy crust with crunchy edges. Quality ingredients including Italian sausage that's flavorful and non-greasy. We also like thinly sliced onions, rather than chopped onion, and that's the way they do it here.
A walk in order typically takes 10 minutes or so for a large pizza. Not the cheapest pizza in town, but they always send out coupons in those coupon mailers. Decor is spartan.
Excellent Food and Great Price not to mention the good customer service. Check their new website http://zpizzafremont.com
Very good thin crust pizza. An good variety of ingredients from traditional to esoteric. Salads are quite good, especially the pear with gorgonzola and walnuts.
Great place to grab a bite to eat.
The two of us split a calzone, which was around $6.50. Berkeley soy cheese, it was delicious and came with a sauce of chipotle pesto (you can substitute Thai, pesto, tomato.. etc sauce). Good stuff. Nice quiet small environment, everyone just sitting down for a bite to eat and some conversation.
Service was also nice, definitely good to support a place that advocates healthy food.
And did I repeat that they have VEGAN SOY CHEESE? where the hell else near Fremont/Milpitas do they have vegan soy cheese pizza? DGagte4w#$%36346!!!!!! :D
ZPizza saved my birthday dinner!!! I picked what I thought was a good restaurant for my birthday dinner only to discover that is was opening night and they were not high on service and weren't making a third of the menu. A friend suggested we take our group of 12 to ZPizza since we were getting hungry and it was close.
SAVED!! Now from the look of it, ZPizza is just some small little random pizza place in a strip mall. But it is way better then that. We walked in and they did everything they could to accommodate us. Plus thanked my friend who brought us all there. As quick as they could they pumped out the various pizza creations we ordered and brought them to us. They were all unique and tasty. One friend ordered the Mexican pizza which looked interesting and those that ate it thought it was great. Another got a calzone which took a little longer to make, but he was pleased with the results. I ordered the Thai pizza and it was most delicious. They offer thin crust so if thicker is your preference, then it might not be the best fit for you. The toppings are fresh and the variety is filled with some choices I have never seen before. They offer sandwiches, salads and the usual pizza fare. They also offer pizza by the slice but that's not really my kind of thing. The drink selection was mostly soda and beer, but I really can't complain after they did all they could to get us happy and fed.
Definitely worth more than a passing glance and may just have to find a way to eat there again sometime.
Good pizza, and better yet, good deals. a slice and a house or cesar salad goes for under $8 with tax, including a drink! Love the crust and the varieties of toppings. For example, the Tuscan mushroom--roasted garlic sauce, mozzarella, cremini, shiitake and button mushrooms, caramelized onions, feta, truffle oil and fresh thyme. I had a slice of the California this evening: organic tomato sauce, mozzarella, tomatoes, red onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, zucchini, and black olives. Those red onions become so sweet and wonderful in the pizza! Nearly twenty topping combinations available--deelish! Also calzones and sandwiches to be had here.
Have had great service since I've come here on and off for nearly a year and half now. PIzza's not something I have often, but if I do, this place is certainly one I'll return to.
The two biggest selling points for ZPizza are that they are healthier and that more creative topping choices are available. For example, the standard cheese option is skim mozzarella and could also be substituted with soy cheese. They have 15 pre-planned combination of pizza toppings which they call their ZPizza Creations, ranging from the adventurous like the Berkeley Soy Cheese Veggie (with veggie burger crumbles) to the more typical such as American (with pepperoni, sausage, mushroom and bell peppers). For their Pizza Creations, prices (as of Novermber, 2007) are as follow: $9.95 for 10-inch, $15.49 for 14-inch and $19.95 for 18-inch.
The pizza crust is not perfect but the crispness of the pie really shines, particularly around the edges. The middle could get soggy as it absorbs the moisture from certain toppings. Toppings are applied quite generously. The dining room is brightly lit, but they do not have a lot of seating, which suggests that they cater more to take-out and delivery.
Bottom Line: A good alternative to the big pizza chains as it offers something a little different.
My pizza of choice, it's pizza without the guilt! Well, less guilt. I love the fact that there are so many toppings to choose from.
I can modify the sauce (tomato, pesto or roasted garlic), cheese (low-fat mozzarella, soy, parmesan, ricotta or feta) and endless toppings to my liking. Whole wheat crust on one side for those that are health conscious and regular crust for everyone else. I also love how this can be done entirely online; it saves me from having to interact with ppl on the other end who are likely distracted in the first place.
Before modification of course, my favorite would be the Italian: pesto, mozzarella, ham, artichoke hearts, tomatoes, black olives
Another plus, they have free delivery for those that live within a 5 mile radius and lucky for me, I do!
ZPizza is great, but I don't actually eat their pizza. The crust is too thin, and the pizza by the slice looks really gross (although I've never actually tried it), but I always order a sandwich or a calzone, both which will make a really good lunch or dinner. They have a lot of different toppings, and are generally healthier than most pizza places.
Oh, and for some reason, the zip code on this listing is wrong, it's actually 94539, in Warm Springs.
Pizza by the slice! So it's great for a fast lunch. I don't love the sauce, but it's not bad. I usually eat it so fast that it's not really an issue to linger on, anyway.

ZPizza is a very unique place especially for places for vegetarians. The great thing about it is the Vegie options stand up on their own. The use really unique ingredients and come up w/just a great pizza. The price is also reasonable.
I order from Z for work and it has been VERY well received. I highly recommend it.
The pizza here is healthy, unique, and delicious. It's not greasy, the service is great, and there's a huge variety of toppings. Not your typical "pizza" experience, but more like a local version of California Pizza Kitchen.
The salads here are also quite good, and fresh.
I'd actually give this place a 3.25 stars -
it's nice to have dinner out with my sister (a vegan) and
also eat yummy cheese-y pizza myself (though, i am
in denial of possibly being lactose intolerant)
while the pizza is a little soggy in the middle, the
great variety of toppings balances it out for me
nice that they deliver for free within a certain distance, though
we've not taken them up on that and have opted to pick it up
ate inside once, though there is not much for ambiance
and tons of appreciation for the kind service we've encountered -
good customer services goes a long way in my book
no way. the place was absolutely dirty, i mean dirty floors/tables/bathroom, everything! and then on the wall it's written "organic" . lol. got the meditaranean pizza, way toooooo oily. it's like they're trying to do the modern, organic, thin style thing, but it's not working. at least not this location. wouldn't go here again.
Pizza wasn't all that great but was decent enough to satisfy my pizza craving. I actually felt better about eating so-called "healthier" pizza.
Place was pretty clean and well kept.
The shtick for Z Pizza is that they offer a "healthier" version of pizza. I went there on a Friday Night and the place seem a bit like a pizza hole you would find in New York. The chairs and the dcor looked like they got a bargain at a school cafeteria discount store.
So they were running a deal for a slice, small salad, and drink for $7. Seemed like a good deal and decided to give a shot. The pizza slice was ok. It was your typical East Coast thin slice of pizza. It was less greasy than your typical New York slice which was nice but overall I wouldn't say anything special. The small side salad was huge and very tasty. I probably could have gone another slice of pizza but that would have cost about $5 so decided to pass. Prices here seem reasonable for a specialty pizza spot so can't complain.
Overall if they still run the $7 deal, I would say it's worth a shot if you're looking for something fast, but definitely nothing worth driving out of your way for.
This place ain't gonna put Mission Pizza or even Bronco Billy's out of business. But...it is refreshing to see a pizza place offer "healthy" food. You can get lite cheese and fresh veggies, whole wheat crust (which if you check out their nutritional tables on their website, is no better for you than their white crust) which tastes really good. Their pizza is not swimming in grease.
I definitely agree with Shari D. Their salads are wonderful!
They also deliver. If you are outside of their "free" delivery area, they only charge an additional $2.50. Quite a deal on a Burn-Out Friday Night After Work and Don't Even Want to Cook type-of-night! :)
Z Pizza, aka, the most HEALTHY and YUMMY pizza ever!
MmmMMM.. Z Pizza is soooooooooo good!!! I love how healthy the pizza taste! The ingredients are fresh and the pizza is not greasy! I've tried the Sante Fe pizza with the chipotle pesto, sausage, red onions, corn, tomatoes, and some spice. YUM! The pizza is slightly pricer than the other chain pizza places, but it's so worth the price.
Great pizza... I'm a vegetarian. Where else can you get vegmeat as an option?
I like this place because it doesn't look greasy and dirty like a lot of other piza places do, not to mention their pizzas aren't too greasy either. hey have a lot of healthy and vegetarian (even vegan!) items on the menu. You can create your own pizza and they have all kinds of toppings, including soy cheese, anchovies, avocado slices and a bunch of other things you ca'n't find at most pizza places. They also have calzones and really good salads. The prices are pretty good too, especially if you buy te slices of the pizza that's already been made.
Their pizza is okay, but their salads are yummy! I love their pear and gorgonzola salad... the candied walnuts and balsamic dressing make this a lovely little salad.
We've only gotten take out or delivery from this place. I can't say much for the ambiance, it's usually empty. We always get the mexican pizza with soy cheese and gardenburger crumbles. It's pretty good, but a bit pricey. Where else can you get you get a veggie, lactose-free pizza without driving to SF or Berkeley? It's definitely worth not having to be stuck in traffic and then not find any parking in the "cities"
Pizza for the diet conscious. They have whole wheat crust.
They also have soy cheese topping, which I never had.
So maybe great for lactose intolerant.
They have varieties like thai, mexican, pesto pizza.
Another nice thing, you can order pizza in half and half combo and try two flavors. Order to-go. They deliver in 5 mile radius, I think, which means you pick-up.
Good place with friendly owners and staff. I support this place as much as I can and the pizza is very tasty.
After a weekend of tasty but unhealthy eating, I opted for the Berkeley Soy Veggie Pizza on a wheat crust for lunch today. The toppings included pesto, soy cheese, veggie burger crumbles, red and green peppers and red onion. I was not in the mood for real meat or cheese so this was a great option since it was about as light as a pizza could be.
