been back there twice since my last review.. as always love the food n the services!
still got to say i am I love their lamb gyro...!! so meaty, so tasty and so m'm m'm good! So there is 2 type of wrap for the gyro.. the tradition wrap and the burrito wrap.. crap.. I forgot the name... tried them both.. both good.. but got to admit the burrito wrap is a lot easier to eat and a lot less messy work.
oo... n there was the cucumber sauce... =) I heart that too.. I always ask them for a side to put in my gyro... hehe... so good!
as always... must have their criss-cut fries too...
yumm.. completion of the perfect meal!

Haven't been here for years, didn't even realize they change their decoration until I just recently… Read more »
I'm a big fan of this Greek semi-fast fast food place. They have a delicious Greek salad with very fresh ingredients. It's big enough for a meal and the chicken kabobs that it comes with are delicious! The spicy is very good - Not too spicy but a nice aftertaste. I usually order extra chicken and I'm totally fully.
I also love the wraps! Very fresh as well and just a good ingredients mix. The chicken ranch wrap was awesome and so was the chicken schwarma wrap.
It's a touch expensive but other than that everything is good. Clean restaurant, friendly local staff, and nice outdoor tables as well. And it's conveniently located next to 880 and 680!
A+ for sure.
Oh yeah, they also have some of the best baklava Ive ever had.
I've got to say that with the changing of management within the past few years, I am sorely disappointed that the quality and size of food has gone down from what it once was.
One thing I love about Zorba's is their criss-cut fries and Lamb Gyros. They had this lovely cucumber sauce that they'd use as a topping to their gyros, and I always used to ask for more for my fries! I stopped asking for extra sides once the ingredients changed up a bit. The taste is definately different from what it once was; it's now too tart. The lamb used to be so moist and succulent, but now it is over spiced and on the dry side. Criss-cut fries are smaller in portion size than before as well.
I stopped going here as often because it just wasn't up to par anymore, but I still go here on occasion when I get a mean yearning for some gyros in my mouth. Mmmmmm.
ZORBA'S! Please bring the classic taste back! It's not worth losing the customers to cut a few corners!
This is becoming our go-to place for lunch. I've been a couple of times and really enjoyed both experiences. I had the spicy chicken kabobs with their criss cut fries and hummus. So tasty! The portions have been generous - more than enough for me to take home some leftovers. The criss cut fries are crispy and perfect, and the hummus and super garlicky and good. I like the chicken and when I order it as a sandwich I can use the pita bread to dip. Oh, and pick up some baklava while you're there. It's nice and flaky with a good mix of honey and nuts. Yum! But bring some breath mints because that hummus stays with you allll day!
Had lunch here for the first time and I have to say, it was deeeelicious! I got he portobello panini although I was having a hard time deciding between that or the grilled veggie panini (which my friend who I was having lunch with told me was absolutely mouth watering). Anyway, the mushroom panini was super tasty, lot's of flavor... I would definitely order it again, and again..... and again....................... and AGAIN!
I also got the side garden salad, which wasn't as great.... it was just a bunch of not so yummy lettuce with 5 tomatoes and 3 croutons. I should've gone with the greek side salad instead... but those always come drenched in sauce (I witnessed this from the greek salad sides on my friends' plates), don't know if this is just the way it's served but it's not to my liking.
Anyway, this place still gets 4 stars though because I am there for the main food, not the salad... And I have to say that for the paninis at least... TO DIE FOR!! Lunch seems to get pretty packed though and the only reason I say 4 stars is that it did take a bt longer than expected for me and my friends to get our food (I'd say ~10 min wait, which for a fast-food-esque place is kind of long). Otherwise great, and I will def be returning during lunch breaks... see you there!
LOVE the souvlaki plates here! =)
I will go out of my way to get my beef souvlaki on. You can get it as a pita sandwich or a plate, but I find that getting it as a plate makes it much easier to eat.
The beef is super tasty and tastes even better with the tzatziki sauce it comes with. And the rice it comes with has TONS of flavor. It's almost borderline too oily, but has such a fabulous taste!
I've been meaning to try one of their paninis, but it's so hard for me to stray from my souvlaki!
Haven't been disappointed by this place! Too bad it's totally out of the way for me. Poop. But it's worth the drive! =)
It wasn't bad but it wasn't impressive either. However, I LOVE their criss-cut fries. Their entrees are a hit or miss. Lamb gyro: i didn't care for it since i'm not a fan of lamb. they used to have beef gyros but don't know why the took it off the menu. Wraps there are ok, but the chicken they use can be dry. Souvlaki dishes are pretty decent for a deli cafe. Salads are HUGE but just average. Panini's are not too tasty and can use more flavor.
I ordered a vegetarian panini and was given a wrap. Instead of re-making what I actually ordered, the staff snidely grinned at me and said that I ordered a wrap. Believe me, if I had a 44-pound panini press http://www.amazon.com/... I wouldn't have driven and been lost in south Fremont for nearly an hour. A minute goes by and the two staff members were deliberating whether or not I said panini or wrap. What happened to the age old axiom that the customer is always right? Frustrated and hungry, I take the unwanted, slowly cooling dish. But I still couldn't eat. I waited for my friend, who was now at the counter and awaiting for a fix-it dish because her original one was also wrong.
Brie & artichoke panini w/ turkey (or choice of ham) & pesto spread.
SO GOOD that I forgot to take a picture of it until after I've already taken several bites out of it. I figured I would spare fellow Yelpers from looking at a half eaten, but delicious, sandwich, haha.
My friends loved the sandwiches, lamb burger, and mediterranean food they got. Great variety to appeal to everyone's tastebuds!
This place is a regular go-to spot for my co-workers, however after trying this place many times I unfortunately have not had a good experience. My first visit I ordered their chicken tandoori wrap, which was tasteless, dry, and the wrap was stale. Second visit had supposedly one of their best dishes, the lamb salad. The salad was warmer than the lamb kebab, which was ice cold, suggesting it was cooked previously, refrigerated and they forgot to warm up. Salads can also come frozen if unlucky. Pricing is around $8 a dish, and perhaps I've been ordering the wrong recommendations. Although I would like to give this place another chance, I'm not sure if I'll be back again.
Mediterranean food from some reason is always expensive for the amount of food you get.
Mary T and I had a late lunch here today. I ordered the lamb gyro and she ordered the flafal gyro with each a regular size drink, $17 and some change. I toss in the remaining as tip. Both gyro were fresh and very tasty! If the pricing were maybe $2 less or we get a bit more for $7, I would not mind eating here on a daily basis.
Overall this is a very decent place!
I've been going here since high school, and it's the closest thing I can find to the prepared food section at Whole Foods when I'm in Fremont. It's a very convenient location for me. It's very casual and good for takeout or lunch.
The turkey brie pesto sandwich (grilled) is amazing, and salads are pretty big. Mediterranean items are their specialty, and there are also other specials that change daily.
I've gone during dinner, as they're open pretty late, but it feels a bit awkward eating there later. They totally make you feel welcome, but I think I prefer the atmosphere at lunch. Regardless, the family that runs it is super nice, and service is always super friendly. I like showing my support for local businesses.
I thought this was a sit down restaurant where you order off a menu. I didn't realize that the ordering was similar to a cafeteria style.
I went on a Sunday morning for lunch. The restaurant was empty, so I was surprised to receive a buzzard to call me when the food is ready.
I had the mediterranean plate as it came with hummus, pita bread, tabuli salad, three falafel balls, and a side salad. The dish was okay. The hummus wasn't anything special. The falafel balls looked like fried pieces of hay, but there was some good spice to it. I thought the balls were too salty though.
I also tried some of my lamb schwarma with the rice. The lamb schwarma was overcooked! It's too bad because I usually like to eat lamb schwarma.
Overall the prices are reasonable for lunch, but I didn't order the right food.
It took a while, but I finally found my casual American-Greek joint in the Bay Area. The combo of quick Greek offerings and American greasy food is one of my guilty pleasures.
The Gyro meat and pita was very tasty and filling. The fries were also crisp and yummy, but the combo portion was not large enough for my meal.
Still 3 out of 5 stars, unless I find a better Greek fast food place.
Spanakopita.
What'd you call me? No, spanakopita!! You say it like this: spa-na-ko-peeta. It's Greek.
All night I kept trying to say this new word correctly and I think I finally got it now. Well, I went into Zorba's thinking that I was going to get a chicken gyro or maybe some falafels since that is about where my knowledge of Greek food ends, but then I saw a picture of the spanakopita plate. It looked so delicious that I knew I had to try it. Not knowing what was inside the perfectly fried phyllo dough triangles, I knew that it just had to be nothing but goodness.
Once the buzzer went off, we grabbed our plates and I immediately dug into the yummy feta and spinach treats. My gut did not fail my taste buds. This dish was really good and the side of hummus & toubeli enhanced the meal even more. The extra side of falafels could've been avoided since it wasn't anything extraordinary... but we finished them anyways.
Aside from the great food, what I love about Zorba's is their clean and spacious dining area. It's not some nasty hole in the wall (like most good places in Fremont) and customer service actually exists here. Just a tip for CC users, I was told that there is a minimum purchase requirement of $7, so remember to bring some cash if planning on just getting a soda or something.
Nothing special.
Slightly overpriced.
Meat is tough and dry.
Rice is super greasy to compensate, I guess.
Greek food in Fremont, what a novel idea. This restuarant is off Mission Blvd in Warm Springs and located close to the two freeways (880 & 680) .
Ordered the chicken kebab over rice $9.50 for lunch, pita bread, rice plus salad. Very tasty and the chicken was moist . The salad with onion, tomatoes , green lettuce with their special dressing was delicious. They have a wide assortment of Paninis, lunch and dinner entrees.
Lots of seating inside and out. I highly recommend this place for Greek food.
-small portions but very tastey, slightly overpriced
-had the spicy chicken sandwhich, highly recommended
-fries = awesome
-tip: instead of opting for the combo dishes, get the stand alone sandwhich and order a basket of fries and share with a friend, they gave me like 4 fries, which is i am docking them points. that is unless you want a salad which to me a waste of space on my plate.
The falafel wrap was awesome. The falafels in particular tasted really good with some unique spices in them. The fries were nice to have as well. Everyone enjoyed the food and is a nice place to get some quick and very reasonably priced food and hang out. Only thing to complain would be the portions but only if you want to be really critical.
Finally happy to find a good Mediterranean place in this area.
So I went to Zorbas during lunch with a few co-workers - - and it was rather busy. I had the Falafel Wrap - and I was disappointed. The falafel balls were toooo big - and fell out of my wrap. The wrap is not wrapped like a burritto - its open on both ends - and as you eat, everything falls out....
Other than that - the bugers + chips, and veggie gyros looked fullfilling and good. Will try one more time before my final verdict.!
We use these folks for lunch for work. Our usual thing to order is their boxed lunches.
It has a delicious deli sandwich, pasta (potato) salad and a cookie! It'a always fresh and always ready for me when I come to pick it up. They also deliver if the order is too big for me.
They have such a wide range of things on the menu. All the usual Greek suspects. The place smells terrific. It's very popular with the lunch crowd so if you're going on a weekday get there early.
If Chris is working tell him Mary sent you.
I love the turkey and regular burgers. Nice place and good service. Always a treat to eat here!
After hearing my friend rave about this for years, she finally convinced me to have lunch at Zorba's yesterday. Got to the restaurant and man, talk about having a hard time deciding what to order! I didn't know whether I wanted a sandwich, a gyro, a wrap, a burger, or Greek food.
I decided to play it safe and ordered their "What a Turkey" (no pun intended) sandwich and an order of criss-cut fries. The sandwich, as vanilla it may sound was delicious! I was impressed by the slices of turkey. Granted, they didn't slice it off a freshly roasted turkey, but the quality of the meat was superb. Definitely not your run of the mill cold cut meat!
The fries were truly all the rave! I've never had unseasoned criss-cut fries before, but man, were these fries good! They were crispy and majorly delish!
I enjoyed my lunch experience so much yesterday that I decided to take the s/o to Zorba's for dinner this evening! This time, I decided to go Greek and ordered the Chicken Kebob plate. It accompanied a Greek salad, pita chips and rice. The chicken was cooked perfectly and everything else on my plate was pretty much inhaled! The s/o ordered the Chicken Gyro, which looked pretty damn good too!
Both times, the guys that work there were pretty nice, more like, effin cool!
PROS: There's so many things on the menu! I want to try them all! Criss-cut fries are great! Service is great!
NEGATIVES: There's so many things on the menu! I want to try them all! (echo! it's a positive negative!) Gets busy during lunch.
OVERALL: One more favorite lunch and casual dinner spot on my list! The food quality is great, the variety is awesome, the service is way cool.
Greek food cooked to order by my Mexican brothers?
Hellz yeah.
They also have really good chicken burgers. I had the teriyaki hawaiian and It was really tasty. Wheat bun, pineapple and some kick ass criss cut fries.
yum
They also have my favorite beer on tap too.
Sucks they close at 9 :(
I went there with a couple of my friends and we ordered a variety of sandwiches, burgers and wraps. But I ordered the Lamb Shawurma because its been a long time since I had me a good Shawurma, but I was sorely disappointed in the one here. The Shawurma I ordered had no real flavor or spice to it, just plain tasting. Sure the other ingredients in there were fresh and tasted good ie, the veggies but the lamb just tasted "lamby" nothing in terms of flavor beyond that. The fries were thick cut fries which were pretty good and they let us just sit and talk even after closing so that gave them one star more star that they will otherwise would have lost.
The food here is so-so. My coworkers love their burgers, fries, gyros, lasagna, beer, but I still have yet to be impressed. Every once in a while, I'll come here for their greek salad w/salmon. (I tried the chicken once which was super dry.) Their greek salad is pretty decent, and the salmon piece is huge, but the price is steep at around $10 for a salad. This is much more than I'd like to spend on a workday lunch. Although I do enjoy their onion rings, one order of onion rings only provides about 5 rings.
I had been wanting to try this place for a while as I love Greek/Mediterranean food. Unfortunately, my man does not, so when I suggested we meet here for lunch, I pulled up the reviews and told him there were other offerings (that had no dill) like regular sandwiches and burgers.
We met. It was busy and the place is much larger inside than I expected with an order at the counter, they give you a buzzer, go find your seat type place. The menu is quite large and I was unfortunately indescisive. I ended up ordering a lamb schwarma wrap and he ordered a toasted beef, cheese and mushroom sandwich. The lamb schwarma was $7.,00 and came with no sides. The sandwich, $6.50-again no sides, and no pickle, onion, tomato, lettuce garnish.
Food=3.0 stars for this visit. The flavor of the schwarma was decent. Nice hummus, some veggies and good lamb flavor. Unfortunately, the pita wrap was dry and I kept feeling like it was missing something-like maybe a bit of feta or Greek salad-just something. The sandwich my man had was over-toasted to the point of almost being burned. It needed something as well-like a tomato slice or au jus.
I will come back. Next time though, I will stick to my gut and order a plate that comes with Greek salad or the Mediterranean plate. The man agreed to try it again too, just next time, he will order a burger.
You would never guess such great Greek/Middle Eastern food would come out of a strip mall in Fremont....but it does.
I got the lamb kabob sandwich that comes with a Greek salad and waffle cut fries. The sandwich is plain (meat and pita), but you load up some tziki and the salad and BAM, insta-Greek sammie!
The boy got an Americana classic with a Greek twist: ciabatta lamb burger!! It was so moist and juicy! Loved it!!
The atmosphere is very laid back. No wait service, just order your food, grab a place to sit and enjoy. They've got TV's all over the place so you can watch the Game (Olympics currently).
Don't get discouraged if you don't see it at first. It's kinda tucked away in the back of the strip mall. If you can see Baskin Robbins, it's right next to it!
Okay I love Falafel. This was not falafel... OKay maybe to someone it was...the sandwich was a disaster I lost the fight. I was covered in crumbs of the fried "whatever that was" and cucumber sauce that they looked at me funny when I ordered...I ate the veggies there is a pile of nastieness sitting in the styrofoam in my car...I may try something else but I really don't think I'll be back again.
Order, sit, buzz, pick up food.
This place is soooooo crazy during lunch hours....especially at noon. Once it hits 1 p.m., it totally dies down to only 50% of the restaurant being full.
I walk up to the counter,... I was a little afraid because the cashier lady asked hurriedly what I wanted & almost seemed grumpy. I told her a couple dishes (I was ordering for my friends too) and then I said I wanted the Lamb Shawurma. This is how it went:
Me: ... and I'll have the lamb shawurma.
Lady: Ooooooo. Have you tried the lamb shawurma???
Me: No... (scared)
Lady: Ok.
[She turns around, grabs a napkin, scoops a pile of lamb shawurma with it and shoves it towards me.]
Lady: Try this.
Me: Mmmmm....Thank you!
Lady: It's delicious huh??
Me: It's the best! (It's not like I can really answer any other way...but I did think it was pretty good.)
Lady: It's 100% lamb. Good choice.
Like many other older stern women in my life, she was right. It was so tasty. The lamb sits on a bed of rice & with a side of pita bread, salad & yogurt sauce... all fresh & plentiful. All the Mediterranean dishes are around $8-10 but they have many other items on the menu: burgers, wraps, paninis, etc. I tried some of the bf's lamb kebab and it was so tender, loving & good. You'll be stuffed with one of these plates!
**UPDATED 11/26/08: Do not get the Crab & Cheddar Panini. I was really looking forward to it because everywhere it says the crab is not fake! But the sandwich was extremely band. The crab was in a slaw form but it should've had more salt, avocados, or something. Even when you drench it with hot sauce, it is still bland... something about the crab makes it impenetrable. I wouldn't get it again. On the other hand, their criss-cut fries are DELICIOUS. Comes out piping hot and fresh.
On the end of a strip mall sits Zorba's Deli Cafe, one of the few Greek restaurants in Fremont.
I got the chicken kabob sandwich for lunch which is pita bread, two chicken kebabs (I wish they would take the shears out because I almost hurt myself twice), fries and a salad. This is some good food, but I think its more of a take-out place even though there are LOTS of seats. I tend to dislike take-out places because I always (in my miser-like thoughts) think that they'll forget a part of my order and I realize when I am at home so I end up getting ripped off! Oh well, I'm getting off topic. If you want a quick (not cheap) bite, order ahead and pick up at Zorba's Deli Cafe and Catering.
~The Sleepy Thinker Award: Best Greek Food in Fremont~
I got a dry falafel donut on the side for $1.50. I can't get over it. To share my experience with you, I took a few pictures. ;)
Aside from the horribly dry, strangely-shaped, unusual tasting falafel, my chicken gyro was pretty darn good. The chicken was moist and had great flavor. My only gripe was the gyro was totally drenched in their "special" sauce (see pic). Now, don't get me wrong. I love sauces. Their sauce is actually really good. But don't drown my food please! :) I think I'll get the sauce on the side next time. Their hummus is pretty good as well.
I've had their cheeseburgers and they are tasty. Other sandwiches are just ok. Sometimes they are dry and have a weird flavor.
Zorba's is on the expensive side, but I would come back for the standout dishes like the gyros.
3.5 stars
Zorba's is a great place lunch spot here in Fremont. It definitely stands out in Fremont because it's a pretty large, unique establishment amidst a sea of fast-food restaurants and chains. They have pretty good food, too, and an enormous variety to choose from. They have everything from burgers, salads and sandwiches to middle eastern/greek favorites (falafels, shawarma, kabobs) and basic, tasty entrees such as chicken and rice, or.. my personal favorite, the salmon and saffron rice (so good!)
They also have serve wine, beer, espresso drinks and have a nice selection of refrigerated bottled drinks.
This place has everything from gyros to sandwiches.
Fries are all criss-cut and everything looks delicious, but unfortunately isn't so delicious.
I came here to order something to go once. I got there early for lunch and the place was just opening. I was the only person in there and a lot of the food they had prepared looked really good. I ended up ordering a wrap, which was good, but nothing special. The place was nicely decorated and could see myself coming here if I lived closer to this area. I will have to come back again to give a more fair evaluation, but right now it gets 3 stars.
To start, this is another place I've been eating at for years and dearly wish was by my work so I could eat lunch here more often. I've tried other places and none have lived up to the Spicy Chicken Kebobs at Zorba's. Other favorites of mine are the Mushroom Delight-roast beef with mushrooms, the Real Crab Sandwich, any of the salads, and the baklava.
They have so many sandwiches and dishes it can be a little overwhelming at times, but they really do have something for everyone (and I have some picky friends). Love this place!
They also do catering, which is quite fantastic too.
I cheated and played it safe with a cheeseburger but let me tell you this: it was a hell of a cheeseburger. Not the best I've ever had but after a streak of McDonald's and Burger King it was extremely refreshing. They have pretty good fries, too - they're criss-cut like at Carl's Jr but without the seasoning. I like the set up of the place: you order at the counter, they give you a flashy thingy, and you go pick up your food when it's ready. It's a cool little place and I'll definitely go back. Oh and for fellow visually challenged people that forget to bring their glasses/contacts please note that they have paper menus if you can't read the big signs above the counter (just ask for one).
Positive review based on 5+ visits (I still get the cheeseburger!)
Yeah!! The first place I can remember as a kid eating so much it made me physically sick!
Tons of options, they even have a vegetarian menu. They have Italian sodas which are awesome as well. The fries are great!
I heard some questionable things about sanitary practices from a friend who used to work there, but it hasn't kept me from going....
I used to live in Warm Springs as a kid and I remember going here with my dad. Since then I have grown up and I still find myself driving back to go get a great lunch.
There is a awesome mix of food choices and the owners are really nice people. There is even a great choice for vegetarians!
Everytime I pass by this place on my way home from work, I'm never really that hungry for a whole meal. But, one afternoon I was so famished, I stopped by for a "snack". I got three falafels and some hummus, totaling to about $8. I didn't know the falafels were the size of small donuts.
They tasted "different". I couldn't tell if it was in a good or bad way. Just not in a way I was accustomed to, given that I usually eat them in a wrap. Bite after bite, I kept trying to convince myself that it's supposed to taste like curry & spicy. It was also dry and crispy, but solved with some dip and hummus.
I would probably get the falafels next time, only because I'll forget how they tasted. But what I really like is their casual dining setup. You order your food, pick it up, and sit wherever you want. It's like fast food, but cleaner and better. They also seem to have a lot to offer on their menu that I must come back for.
And this time I'll dine in because eating a falafel and hummus while driving is like me in a Got Milk commerical except it ain't milk and it ain't cute.
