Last time I went to Zoos I vowed that no matter how inexpensive or convenient it seemed, I would never go back again. After I moved, Zoos became a easy place to grab crickets but I was always disturbed at how small and dirty the cages for the small animals were. One time I went in there and they had two full grown ferrets that needed adoption in a ten gallon fish tank. Having three ferrets myself I know how much room they need just to stay sane and function. Then once before this past summer, was in there with my fiance and we saw a dead parakeet in lying at the bottom of the bird cage. We told someone that worked there and they removed it.
Then this summer on my last trip there I saw another parakeet on the bottom of the cage, but it was still barely alive. Other birds were sitting on top of it, pecking at it. I went and told a girl working there about it, but she continued to arrange items on the shelves, so I lingered to see what would become of it. She put on some sort of hawk training glove and removed the bird, then proceeded to put it in the bottom of a much much smaller cage with another, perfectly healthy bird. I hate to think of what ever happened to that bird. On my way out I heard a couple talking about a snake there, and when I looked over, I saw the snake was in its tank with a bone sticking out of its skin.
I had a bad feeling about zoos because of their exotic fish collection and lack of space, but alot of pet stores are like that. However, I do think their animals are in very poor condition upon purchase and I urge others to look very closely at what they choose to buy there or find somewhere that will be humane.
Its farther away, but I love Bills Wonderland of Pets on the White Horse Pike in Somerdale. The people working there know alot about pets and have alot of pets themselves. I have always gotten good advice and they remember for the most part what animals I have and usually inquire after them.

I hate going to Zoos. Unfortunately, I almost always go to Zoos to buy my feeder mice (just like I'll be doing, tomorrow).
I go here for several reasons.
1. It's nearby. The only other store where I can buy feeder mice is a little bit closer but it's semi-creepy and my ex worked there for four years. Even though I'm friends with said ex, I always feel a little awkward in there.
2. The other place that I would totally prefer to go is 25 minutes away (instead of 5) and is also a little bit creepy.
At least Zoos is well lit and heavily populated and not very creepy and close. If it weren't close, I would never go here.
I hate going here for even more reasons.
1. I don't think they take very good care of their animals. If an animal gets sick (which they so often do) I think it's a death sentence, here.
2. The staff here is sooooo super rude! The one lady that is usually there to get animals out of the cages is super crotchety. I think it might be impossible for her to smile. She might spontaneously combust. She also never ever pays attention to who was there first (which means I usually have to wait a very long time for my one or two mice, because I'm not very pushy).
3. To continue with the staff aspect, the rest of the service is usually terrible, too. I once walked over to the counter to pay for my mice. There was a young girl sitting on a box (presumably filled with merchandise) on the ground, next to the register. I smiled at her as I walked over, and she smiled back. I assumed she would stand up and ring up my purchase... well, I think we all know what ASSUMING does... Instead of standing up to ring up my purchase properly, she remained seated (several feet below the register) and tried to ring up my purchase by feel (since she couldn't see the register). The entire time she was doing this, she was laughing at how clever she was for being so lazy that she didn't need to get up to ring up a mouse. How she expected to take my money (and give me change!) is beyond me. I'm a patient person, and I wasn't a teenager too long ago, so I cut her some slack. However, it took about 5 minutes longer than it should have to buy a mouse so when I started to get visibly annoyed, her friend, who was also behind the counter, gave me my change. That was seriously annoying.
4. It's incredibly over-priced. Seriously, mice cost twice what they should and so do the other animals.
If you are looking to buy a pet, do yourself a favor, and don't buy it here. It'll cost 2 or 3 times what it should actually cost, and most likely, it'll be sick. Drive to Animal Trax in Malaga, NJ. It may be slightly creepy (and kind of dirty) inside, but the guy knows what he's talking about and cares about his animals. And you won't get ripped off.
