Zoomars is certainly not a big zoo, but it is fun for your smaller kids and certainly worth the cheap price.  Plan for an hour or two of fun, then move on.

We've been several times.  The bunny and guinea pig petting zoo are great for the smaller kids.  They also have a goat feeding area and horseback rides.  Our daughter loves all of it.

They have other penned animals too - birds, geese. pigs, ostriches, llamas, turtles...

They also host kids parties here - I've been to 5, including my nephews.

During certain holidays they also set aside part of the lot for holiday specific fun.  This time of the year, they have a pretty neat little pumpkin patch that you should also check out.

Just make sure to watch your kids at all times - like you should any time you mix children with animals.

If you keep your expectations simple - a 1 hour inexpensive mini zoo experience for your younger children - then you will not be disappointed.

Zoomars is right by the Amtrak train station, and near the town square.  There are a few things to walk around and look at, as well as a few good places to eat all in the immediate area.  You can easily spend half a day in the area.

It's not the San Diego Zoo - thank goodness!  A perfect couple of hours - low-key, relaxing, perfect for a three year old.  The grounds are kept so clean, the animals are healthy, and the playground equipment was safe.  We purchased 3 veggie trays - perfect for feeding the animals.  Our three year old loved the goats - they climbed up in our laps and devoured the veggies.  We enjoyed the train, fed the turtle, did Arts and Crafts, and held bunnies.  100's of animals - get over it!  The point of Zoomar is to have fun with your children.  And then walk over to downtown San Juan and have an adult lunch cause the kiddies will be so tired that the trains going by will keep them entertained for at least another hour!

We saw a sign for a petting zoo boasting of "hundreds of animals" when we were walking down Los Rios. I didn't remember that being there the last time I was down, and I wondered how there was a place big enough for hundreds of animals.

We walked down there, and were greeted by two creepy ostriches. I had never seen one up close, so that was kind of cool. It was $5 admission, plus $1 for a basket of carrots. Not too bad.

As soon as we entered we found 75% of the "hundreds" of animals. A huge pen of bunnies and guinea pigs. Not sure that really counts, but okay. My friend's daughter had a great time in there, throwing carrots at the bunnies and attempting to pick them up. I picked up a guinea pig and it scratched the crap out of me.

We left the bunny/pig pen and saw two goats, and three tiny baby goats, which were really cute. Then we visited the one cow and the two pigs. We made our way back around to the four screaming pissed off geese.

We saw about five horses, one donkey, and a few llamas.

Then we entered another pen, this one with about ten goats. My friend's daughter and I were promptly surrounded by goats and one nearly attacked her to get her carrots.

This petting zoo was a lot of fun for the 5 year old in our party, but my friend and I were not too impressed.

They claim hundreds of animals. I don't remember seeing that many, but I also didn't count all the bunnies.

There's pony rides, and you can also ride the old out of shape horses. At least they're not starved and inbred like the ones in Rosarito.

Train ride. Check!
Birthday parties. Check!

5 bucks for adults and 4 for the kiddos. The veggie tray is 5 bucks and 1 dolla for a cup of of carrots. Some of these animals are overfed. Animals will eat if the food is there, and so they do.

The llamas and alpacas are cool; they will slobber all over you if you allow it. The goats are fun to watch. Hold on to your kids; I have seen them eat babies.  That's what they do when they're cooped up for too long--they love the taste of baby flesh.

The zoo is just a stone's throw away from the train station and plenty of parking if you do drive here.

At first I thought 'geez, how good can a petting zoo in the middle of a town square be', but then, after we paid the entrance fee ($5 for adults and $4 for kids but if you fill out a form for your child, you will get a discount off when you visit thereafter) and buy some grub for the animals, it actually got more and more fun. You can buy carrots and lettuce for the bunnies and all the animals and millett for the birdies.

I ended up spending WAY too much buying food for the animals as it was SO much fun, but poor lil guy decided to go into the goat pen without me and ended up being attacked by the goats who apparently knocked him over. By the time I got back from buying more food, I found lil guy cornered and the goats were jumping on him like dogs do and he was screaming his little head off. Poor kid. He was crying and really traumatized, but when I told him let's go, he wanted to feed the bunnies, so guess we weren't going anywhere.

It was a seriously good time for all!!

My kids love Thomas the Train Engine and baby animals.

So there's nothing like taking an Amtrak train ride with the family and going to a Petting Zoo. My boys LOVE this place. You can buy pony rides by the lap, you can buy tickets to ride the mini train, you can buy sliced veggies to feed the little bunnies, goats, lambs and other animals. A great place to bring the little ones and any kid under 12. There's a section of the zoo where you can rent out and have your own birthday party. What a great idea. Stuff your face with cake then head over to pet animals. Conveniently located walking distance from the Capistrano Train stop. Lots of convenient parking.

I am giving this place 2 stars because I think it's a little pricey to pay $5 for only going in to walk around.  I thought my daughter (2.5 yr old) would LOVE this place, but as soon as we walked in after paying she wanted to turn around & leave..

she didn't care too much for the whole bunny/guinea pig area & could care less about the goats.  She only enjoyed the train ride & horse ride.  Over all it was o.k.

As someone else said they claim to have a ton of animals but actually it's 90% bunnies who are over fed and hiding in the corner. Yeah it's cheap but I don't think it's worth it. The goats are crazy and have no problem assaulting you for your food. Protect your kids!

This is a tiny petting zoo with bunnies and guinea pigs.  They do let you pet them but 1/2 of them are sleeping while the other 1/2 will be fighting for your food.  I felt bad that my $5 tray of veggies looked so lifeless and dirty.  I wish I could've brought fresh, "clean," veggies from my house to feed the poor animals.  The trays that contained the food looked like they hadn't been washed in a couple of years.  It's true about the goats.  My 3 year old was practically attacked but, fortunately held his composure.  My son's friend cried before he could even get in the pen because a goat got loose through the gate and even his mom was a bit spooked.  I can't imagine anyone enjoying this part of the zoo.

Just got back from Zoomars.  Can't type now because I'm covered in llama and alpaca slobber.  Will expand review after shower.
