We were wanting to treat the boys to something new and fun in honor of Ramsay's birthday, and found out that Zoom Room will let you rent their gym space for 1/2 hour increments. So on this hot Saturday afternoon, an air conditioned gym/play space sure beats the dog park! We signed up and had the whole play area to ourselves for 1/2 an hour! There's lots of agility equipment and toys (even skateboards!) that the dogs can use, as well as lockers, bathrooms, and coffee for the humans. Charlie did well going through the tunnel and up and down the platforms. He wasn't so thrilled with jumping hurdles. And Ramsay liked chasing the tennis ball around and up and down the platforms. Then I took out the treat bag, and suddenly they were circus dogs and could do anything for a treat (except skateboard)!
Unless your dog is hyper (or you), 1/2 hour is about the right amount of time. We were all pretty pooped out, especially me! It was a good workout! And they have a nice shop with lots of great doggie supplies. We picked up a cute treat canister and of course, more treats! Looking forward to coming back! Arrrrooorooroo!
P.S. Charlie started to get an attitude, so i enrolled him in some obedience classes to refresh his memory. He did great! We enjoyed the classes and working with Angela and Erin. Also did some agility classes too! Lots of fun!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Vivian W.Rosemead, CA28521251Jun 15, 2014Updated review
As time goes on and we get more and more into the classes, 4 stars didn't seem right. Zoom Room definitely deserves 5 stars for everything they've taught me and my rambunctious little Sheltie!
We've gone through Puppy Obedience, Puppy Agility, Obedience 2, Obedience 3, Agility 1 and Agility 2. We even did some private training. And we passed our Canine Good Citizen test here! I clearly like this place very much. :]
You honestly can't get much better for the price. You get awesome trainers, 5-6 classes for 100 bucks, and you can rent private gym time! A definite and HUGE plus if you live in a small space and you want to train your dog in agility. It's not big enough to lay out a 22 obstacle course (or maybe it is and I haven't tried) but it's big enough for some handling practice. If you're interested in a class - check their schedule. Even though they close at 7, sometimes they stay open for classes and have classes scheduled at 7 or 8.
The agility classes are so much fun but if you are into performance/competition agility, Zoom Room is probably not the place for you. It's more of fun and games agility though you do get into learning about handling and front crosses and pivoting and other things. Great place to work out your dog (and yourself)!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Nov 11, 2013Previous reviewMy (currently) 7 month old Shetland Sheepdog puppy has been coming here for about a month and a half now. We've gone through Puppy Obedience and we come to play in Puppy Agility and he loves it and I do too.
First things first - many of the classes are "drop in". So you register online and you show up. So during your class you may have people from all sorts of different levels. I didn't find this as cumbersome as I thought it was going to be. If you're new, you gather in an area and get the trainer's attention as she teaches you how to train your dog to a certain command. If you're not new, you move onto another part of the room and practice with your dog and the trainer will come over and observe, make suggestions, help, etc. When you move onto the next command we repeat. So if you're expecting a 5 week class with same faces at every class...not gonna happen. Like I said, I didn't find it that cumbersome and it seems that our trainer, Angela, knew where every dog was at (training wise) the week before.
Class can get crowded on the weekends but I hear the weekday classes are significantly less packed. Either way, my puppy (or rather I) passed in 4 weeks. It's all in the practice outside of class.
Now...puppy agility. This is where I got a little concerned. My pup seems to have boundless energy and his breed tends to do well in agility but as a puppy there's only so much you can do. So low impact agility...how low is low? Basically there is minimal jumping. I've done 2 classes so far and he likes the hurdle, which is fine, but we usually don't do that til the end so his time with the hurdle is minimal. It's more of an "Introduction to Agility Equipment" class for him but he loves it.
The first week he was his normal skittish self, scared of walking through the weave poles (not actually weaving), not wanting to walk up the A-Frame, etc. But the second class it was like he had a sudden burst of confidence which I was hoping to build through agility classes.
Overall, it's been a great experience. I love the concept, I can't find anything else near by like them and I trust them more than I trust Petsmart or Petco. If you're looking to compete in agility, the gym space is probably too small to put out EVERYTHING but it's a good place to just play with your pup.
And someone here mentioned that their dog had an accident and the trainers got upset...my puppy decided to go potty during our evaluation session, no big deal was made. During a puppy meet up he decided to go potty again...on the A-FRAME. Again, no big deal was made. Another puppy peed. Once again no big deal. So...I wouldn't be too worried about the trainers making a fuss. - Susan C.Upland, CA50267May 27, 2012
Angela, the owner, is one of the strangest person I have met. I hope she's a dog person, because she is definitely NOT a people-person (which is important for a business owner and someone who needs to deal with dog parents as an essential part of running a successful dog training center).
Our appointment was made for 5pm but we arrived about 30 min early. We were the only people there- the place was dead.. yet we waited and waited around for someone to let us know what was going on. And we just stood there.. (crickets chirping) and there was a totally weird vibe about the place. But the store was clean, and had some great selection of toys and treats. When I finally asked, Angela said that our appointment was at 5. Normal people would have either communicated to the customer: 1) "Hey since y'all are here want to get started now?" Or 2) " OK, thanks for checking in, it'll just be a moment while I get prepared, do some paperwork, hang out in the back, etc." She did not/ was not able to effectively communicate to the customer.
It was almost as if she didn't need the business. Incredible.
And then during the session, she didn't explain what was going to be done. We just stood there awkwardly. I wasn't sure what she was doing, with having the 3 of us just standing around there looking at each other (I think my dog was confused too!) So I took it upon myself to ask questions and to show her what my dog has learned so far, even showed her my dog's tricks.
To sum up the evaluation session: AWKWARD and veryyyyyyy weird/creepy vibe coming from her. . From the moment I checked in, it was awkward and I felt lost throughout the process. At the front desk, there was a young teenage boy (Jacob) helping me, and she chastised him for some minor mistake, and it felt SO AWKWARD! My boyfriend and I were amazed.
I came because I wanted to take my dog there for some exercise and consult with her as to which class to sign up for. As a new customer, I wasn't familiar with how this business is run. Which wouldn't be such a big deal if Angela would have simply explained how things are done. (Apparently, you can't just show up as a walk-in with your dog to get some exercise). When I told her I was confused and wanted to know more about the classes, she literally furrowed her eyebrows as if she was bewildered and even said she didn't understand why I was confused. A BUSINESS OWNER SHOULD BE HAPPY TO EXPLAIN AND OFFER THEIR SERVICES. She did not have a nasty attitude, however.. there was no animosity or harshness at all. The entire session was just so strange because she has no interpersonal skills whatsoever.
I hope that she reads this and takes it to heart, because I hope that the business succeeds.. I like the concept and wish her the best for success.. but I got creeped out by the general vibe, and the seriously weak communication and interpersonal skills. It's ok to be an introvert, but you can still learn to be friendly, welcoming and communicative. Or just hire a good manager who is capable of being personable with customers.
I was really disappointed, because I wanted to love the place.Helpful 20Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Arvee R.Upland, CA14973379Jun 7, 2013
The Zoom Room is the Nordstrom's of dog training! The training space is huge unlike some of the pet store training areas. We took our boxer puppies to puppy kindergarten and they learned (or should I say, we learned) their names, how to relax, and overall socialization with other dogs. Our puppies graduated with flying colors, or should I say flying collars!
Since that time we have taken them to obedience classes (they really needed this one) and often take them on a Sunday to the Gym. Yes, gym. You can rent the space for 30 minutes for $10 and your dog or puppy plays in the gym. It is really cool. Oh, they also have "meet-ups" for dogs. This is like networking for your pet.
I can't say enough - the Zoom Room is the place to take your dog, if you love them. No other place compares.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Keara D.Auburn, CA856534Aug 6, 2013
We brought our 14 month old doberman here for obedience/manners classes with Gia.
GIA IS AWESOME!
She has a great communication style with pets and owners and her recommendations for our dog worked like a charm. Within a week, after incorporating some of Gia's suggestions into our daily routines at home (which were effortless and took little to no time), our dog's behavior had been powerfully impacted.
We hope to continue classes with Gia and are very confident that she will teach us and our dog all of the behaviors, tricks and discipline listed on their website. This place is definitely worth looking into!
THANKS GIA!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Yi Z.Berkeley, CA85532661616May 28, 2013
Benji goes to Zoom Room for his puppy agility class. He likes it a lot because it means he gets to eat plenty of treats. I like it because he (and I) get a good workout.
Because he's a puppy, he's not exactly weaving through the poles; he just walks down the middle. He is also not that fond of the tunnel (although a few treats is all the encouragement he needs). But I get so excited when he jumps over the bar with his short little legs or goes up and down the a-frame.
This location is pretty far from Benji's weekend home but it's the closest thing we've got. It's usually pretty empty, which is good for us (more one-on-one attention) but not that great for business.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Vanessa M.Los Angeles, CA917151Dec 24, 2013
I live about 30 miles SE from this Zoom Room location, but I drive there because the staff there is great and they KNOW how to work with dogs. They are like local dog whisperers!
Gia is really amazing at getting our doggie to do what he needs to do. But they are there to train people not pets! So...my partner and I definitely were in need of some training, and the staff was just so nice. And the people you are in classes with are fun to get to know too.
We ended up getting the 5 classes + Free evaluation pack for $99. It was well worth it. The classes are paced well, and they are rarely ever full. I think the most we had was about 7 other people and their pooches. So far, we have done the obedience class, agility class, and tricks class. We worked hard on training our dog through his obedience 1 skills so that he could pass that class faster. Once you pass obedience 1, the rest of the course offerings are open to you, so keep that in mind!
They also have $10 gym time to rent their space out for 30min so you and your doggie can play around with the agility equipment, etc. I think its funny that after about our 3rd visit, the staff know our DOG'S name but don't know ours. At least you know they care enough to take the time to get to know your dog. I also like the selection of natural treats they have.
Overall, we look forward to purchasing the 5 classes for $99 deal again to keep going. We have learned so much from attending this class which in turn benefits our pup.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mallory L.La Verne, CA316221Oct 17, 2011First to Review
I loved the Zoom Room and my Dog Harley did too! I took her there to try an agility class, and it was tons of fun. We plan on signing her up for more classes in the very near future. The trainers were very nice and helpful, they have a cute little shopping area with treats, toys , food and accessories. I bought a few cute little alligator treats that my dog loved. Over all a very pleasant experience, if my dogs happy then I am happy.

I and my dogs love the Zoom Room. We have taken the obedience and agility classes (tunnels, jumping through tires, climbing, etc.). My dogs and I have learned so much from these classes and the learning was actually fun.
The "calm dog" workshop really helped my golden work through his anxiety issues. We have also attended the "obedience games" and "large breed meetup" events which the dogs just love.
The room is large, air conditioned and clean with lots of equipment, toys, fresh water and treats available. They also sell dog supplies including some unique "brain" training toys", raw goat milk, healthy food and treats and other cool training tools. I got some bowls to help my dogs slow down their eating and some no pull harnesses that work great. (They even helped me fit the harnesses.)
The trainers are quite knowledgeable and very patient. They are dog owners and lovers themselves and frequently have one of their dogs attending the classes. I am amazed at how well their techniques work and how easily the dogs learn in the classes.
I am not sure what happened with the poster who claims that the trainer was upset when his dog wet but I can assure you that I have attended many classes and events and have witnessed no such thing. In fact, we were told during the Orientation session (which is FREE) not to make a big deal if a dog wets or marks something and shown exactly where the cleaning materials were and how to clean the spot. I have witnessed dogs do so and the owners just do as instructed and there is no fuss at all.
I am amazed and appreciate how clean, safe and comfortable the environment is. As you can see, we really love the Zoom Room and attend as frequently as possible.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Diana M.Rancho Cucamonga, CA931716Feb 16, 2012
My dog took the Therapy Dog Class and it was presented in a fun way which she enjoyed. There is a great offering of classes that are not held anywhere in this area. The facility is state of the art. There is also a nice store that carries high quality dog foods, treats, toys and accessories that are hard to find. My dog loved her trainer Angela. She is very patient and caring with the dogs and the training is always positive. I will soon be taking my other dog there for a class. If you are looking for a unique place to train your dog, go and check out Zoom Room. This area really needed a place like this.
