I'm a big fan of Zooloos, have been since the bra-covered Mardi Gras days... the perpetually sticky floor and cramped karaoke setup add to its charm, in my opinion.

Also, Amber is an excellent bartendress and Dave runs a super fun patio out back!

I like the patio and the drink specials. Bout it. Lots of bras hanging from the ceiling. Kinda funny. Meh.

No more popcorn, boo! Much fewer bras hanging from the ceiling, boo!

Last call is still, notably, much later than every other bar on Dickson.

This place used to be good, but it pretty much always smells like urine and vomit and has really lost it's charm.

Here's my review from January '06:

A Mardi Gras themed bar right on Dickson Street, between Condom Sense and The Common Grounds.

This place offers some of the best drink specials in town throughout the week, and free popcorn, which actually complements beer quite nicely.  The service is very good, especially if you make an effort to know the staff.  They'll treat you well even when the place is full.

The floor space is small, and, on weekends, it's often difficult to walk through, but, unlike in some bars, the people are nice enough to move out of your way.  This general kindness also extends to its social policy: you're welcome as long as you think everyone else is. People have been asked to leave for bigoted comments and behavior, and the place has an inaccurate reputation as a gay bar just because they refuse to marginalize any of their customers.

Seating is very limited, and the music isn't top-notch, but it's the perfect place to go for a quick round of drinks with your friends before seeing what the rest of the night has to offer.

I hate this bar.  Totally mediocre drink menu and rude, inattentive bartenders.  The place itself is filthy and in disrepair.  This is definitely one of those bars that you end up at because they're the last one open, not someplace I could ever see going to willingly.
