ZippGo made our move quick and easy! We'll never go back to using plain old cardboard again. Pickup and dropoff were both easy. Not only did we feel good about our environmental impact, but these ZippGo boxes kept our items secure and safe because of how sturdy they are. Plus, since all the boxes are easy to carry and stackable, they made our move faster and you can fit more in a smaller truck.

They also come with zip ties so you can feel secure that the items you pack don't become moving man souvenirs.

    1/14/2012 Purchased a Yelp Deal

We used ZippGo for our last move and it was fantastic.

We got the 1 bedroom package to move from a 1 bedroom loft into another 1 bedroom loft and it *just* fit all our stuff (we consider ourselves relative minimalists, but we do have a lot of books). We had the boxes for 1 week, which went by fast but forced us to keep momentum and unpack in a timely manner.

    1. Boxes are delivered to your place - No more chasing down cardboard boxes, contending with disgruntled Uhaul employees or assembling boxes!

    2. You pack the sturdy plastic tubs with your stuff, label and zip-tie them closed with the materials provided by ZippGo,and hire a moving company to move you to the new place.

    3. You unpack all the tubs. ZippGo picks up the empty tubs. No recycling/reselling/storing of cardboard boxes!

I used ZippGo because, with an online deal, it was the same price as buying cardboard boxes, because I hate putting together cardboard boxes, and because it is far more sustainable. Without the deal, I would have been dissuaded by the steep price and by the fact that we were charged an annoying "stairs" fee even though our move-out location had elevator access and the move-in location was on the ground floor.

i coudln't be more pleased with the service from these guys. eddie arrived right on time, was warm and friendly, and explained everything i needed to know about packing the boxes.

the boxes themselves are sturdy; not having to worry about crushing a box is really nice. i'm not really all that big on the whole 'green' thing - i try to do my part, though, and to be honest it's much easier to have a bunch of nice boxes delivered and picked up than to spend a bunch of money on cardboard boxes that break, take, foam, and other shit.

so yeah, great job guys! couldn't be more satisfied.

Great system - nice people - and easy to use.

For me - I suggest getting them for 2 weeks, call ASH, the owner, really nice accomodating guy and work a deal with him. They were great to have - super solid, they stack well. The deal is you can't live out of boxes for a month - you have to unpack the boxes and have them ready to go - so you have a week, I would say, get them for 2 weeks to give you plenty of time to pack and unpack.

BUT HEY THAT'S ME - LAZY

The boxes made our move much much easier, and it cost the same as buying cardboard boxes. We packed up our things in 1/2 the amount of time. And it forced us to unpack quickly. The next time I move, I will definitely use ZippGo. Also the customer service was FANTASTIC. The even sent us a hand written Christmas card with a $25 gift card. If you are moving of need boxes- Zippo IS the way to go!

My movers complained that the boxes were heavy because of the plastic, but they also insisted on carrying them on their backs instead of using the rolling dolly supplied by ZippGo or a hand truck. Annoying.

ZippGo's otherwise been a very pleasant experience -- from not having to stuff multiple loads of boxes into my car to easily stacking empty boxes on both ends and avoiding the uncontrollable mound of cardboard taking over our city-sized apartment.

I feel good that I avoided much of the waste usually associated with moving. The 50 ZippGo boxes I rented surely took the place of 100-150 new cardboard boxes. Three things I didn't miss: assembling and breaking down boxes (no paper cuts here!), full boxes getting crushed when stacked, and figuring out what to do with my boxes when I was done with them. And I don't think I even paid all that much more than I would have spent for decent conventional boxes (sans pick up & delivery!).

Overall I love these guys!! The Owner is great to work with and a real nice guy. Their boxes are making this EASY to move and durable. The people are friendly.

Cons: ZippGo is a business and with Groupon and other sites the fees are high for ZippGo for which makes the Groupon deal very limited. So be cautious when using Groupon and ensure you READ ALL the fine PRINT! Like ensure you live in the city that they deliver to.

Going to San Jose to me would seem like a plus without an additional gas fee. Don't know why they could not just put the bins in a storage container like Public Storage and find a local driver to work in each of the city areas. To me this would not seem like this would costs all that much and allow you to expand in your area.

Understanding Gas costs a great deal so does a drivers time. Love your idea, Love your product!! I will recommend you to everyone I know even companies who are looking to move. Just wish there was a better business model on the drop off locations with Groupons. 2) Too bad you did not buy those WebVan bins when they were auctioned off. I think they went for like a $1.00 a bin for your standard light green size.

I just finished moving with ZippGo and it was really easy. The boxes were delivered on time and we were able to change the pickup location at the last minute. Plus, we didn't have to fill up the recycling container at our new apartment with once-used cardboard boxes, yay!

One cautionary note: these boxes are larger and slightly heavier than the cardboard boxes that they replace.

OH MY GEE YES. We moved somewhat abruptly mid-February and were a bit at a loss as to what to use. I found some boxes on the street, but was reluctant to buy more (and then have to store them, or, even worse, dump them? Hell no.). Enter ZippGo! My husband arranged it all--they dropped them off a few days before our move date (because we decided to move about a week before it happened), and we rented them for 3 weeks. It was worth the small extra cost.

It was PERFECT. The crates are sturdy and very spacious. They stack easily. The movers LOVED them--way better than cardboard boxes that can tumble over or rip open. Plus, using ZippGo's crates forces you to unpack in a timely manner and get organized!

One more bit of advice: it is much easier to move to a BIGGER place FROM a SMALLER place, and not the other way 'round.

We used Zippgo to help move to a much larger home a mile away in February of 2011.  Although we ended up using a few cardboard boxes during the move, I can honestly say that using the 100 Zippgo moving boxes made packing and unpacking so much easier and faster. There was no taping and cutting, no folding boxes, and no worries about overloading a flimsy cardboard box.

The Zippgo boxes were so good in fact that we had no breakage during our move - our fine china survived without a single casualty!

Plus, this was environmentally friendly since 100 cardboard boxes are not going to a landfill. The Zippgo website was easy to use, the delivery driver arrived timely during his window, and the quality of the boxes was as advertised.

The boyfriend and I had just signed a new lease, and having both been through a number of moves in the past few years, we were dreading the idea of having to get our hands on a bunch of cardboard boxes only to use them once and then recycle them. I was just about to order a set of moving boxes, when I saw a deal on HomeRun -- $49 for 25 boxes for 1 week.

I called to schedule a delivery and they were very helpful in working around our old building's wacky elevator reservation schedule. They only deliver within the city until about 2:00p, so I booked the afternoon slot and the guy on the phone said he would make a note to deliver at 1:00p sharp. The driver showed up promptly at 1 and had our boxes upstairs about 5 minutes later.

We received 25 of the large size boxes, a dolly, some labels, and ~50 zip ties. The boxes ended up being the perfect size, given that we had a LOT of stuff to move.Though we used a handful of cardboard boxes and a few of our own plastic boxes, we ended up filling ALL of the ZippGo boxes.

The green boxes were sturdy and stackable and the handles made it easy to move boxes from one place to another. They're slightly heavier than you might imagine, so be careful not to pack too many heavy items in one box -- it's fairly easy to do so given the size of the boxes.

I had a slight mishap with the pickup and left a voice mail message to see what happened. But Ash (the founder) responded later that night and offered to reschedule the pickup for another day at no charge!

We recently did a move with ZippGo and what can I say, everything went very smoothly. It was easy to schedule online and the customer service was very knowledgeable and friendly. They delivered our boxes a few minutes before the scheduled time which was unexpected for service companies nowadays.

I chose to use ZippGo boxes because it's clean and simple and good for the environment. The idea is really simple actually and makes a lot of sense. The only think I recommend is to now put all your books in one box unless you have a good back, which I don't. So spread out your heavy items with the lighter items and moving these boxes makes is even more easier. The other thing is that it stacks up really well. We used our mini van and was able to stack 3 high and about 15 per load.

I would recommend ZippGo to all my friends and family and will be using them for future moves. I'm going to recommend them to my tenants too.

Keep up the good work guys!

This is a great business - it is good for the environment and way more convenient than going to buy boxes, tape, and packing supplies at U-Haul.

    Pros:
    -environmentally friendly
-they deliver the crates, and packing material
-they pick up when you are done
-the large crates are a perfect size. I crammed so much into each one that packing was very efficient and easy
-they give you labels and ties for the crates
-the crates are clean so you could put clothing, bedding or towels in them and not have to rewash
    -courteous and professional staff
-you can keep the crates for longer than originally planned for only a little money

    Cons
-because ZippGo is based in San Francisco, if you live in the South Bay your delivery/pickup times are limited. I found this somewhat inconvenient as I had to leave work during the week to be home for the delivery and pickup.
-it is a little pricey. I got a deal through HomeRun but probably wouldn't have been able to afford it otherwise

Overall, the pros outweigh the cons. I think that as the business expands, it can add more staff, therefore offering more delivery/pickup times and hopefully lowering the prices a bit too. I had a great experience and highly recommend!

ZippGo is am amazing service with an outstanding idea! There green environmentally friendly boxes are the key to moving! They were helpful, were wonderful on the phone (customer service), and I will definitely be using them again next time I move. Their boxes were clean and extremely useful They are so much better than cardboard! Not only do you not have to deal with the hassle of figuring out what to do with all the boxes when you're done moving, they are also sturdier and easier to stack.

The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because they had to push back my delivery a couple hours and push up my pick up a couple hours. They were great at communicating though! Both times Ash called me a day ahead of the scheduled appointment, which I really appreciate. If I could, I would rate it more a 4.5 than a 4.

    Definitely recommend their service!!!!!!!

ZippGo is great! The concept is fantastic. No more wasteful cardboard boxes.
The ordering process for the boxes and moving supplies was super easy.
You go online, pick your delivery day and time. Order your boxes based on the size of your home. You can also order recyclable packing supplies.
The owner emailed me promptly when I had a question. They were on time and friendly when they delivered the boxes.
The owner checked in again after the boxes had been picked up. They had to reschedule the pickup date and I received a handwritten Thank you note from him.
They are professional and their follow through is fantastic. I will definitely use them again when we move.

**Side note, be careful what you pack in the boxes. They are a bit bigger than cardboard and we packed a few boxes that were a little too heavy.

We recently used ZippGo for a move across town in Berkeley. Overall I'm happy to recommend their services. The boxes themselves are fantastic. We ordered 35 large boxes for our 2 bedroom, 1 office, apartment move for 1 week.

The biggest plusses for the boxes are their stackability, that they don't have to be filled all the way to be stable, they greatly reduce waste, and are relatively inexpensive. A note of caution if you have a lot of books - the boxes fit so much stuff that they'll be too heavy to carry* if filled more than halfway with heavier texts. Plan accordingly. But, again, it's easy just to throw some lighter things on top and not have to worry about filling it up to prevent crushing. Also don't overlook how nice it is not have to 1) find and 2) dispose of boxes on either end of your move. We scheduled pickup for the Saturday morning after a Thursday move. It was lovely to just be done with boxes.

ZippGo's customer service is friendly and mostly good, if a little unreliable. They ran late both on my delivery and pickup - both by a couple hours. In each case, though, they called to let me know and to keep me updated on their progress. Their driver and customer service guy were both very friendly and seemed willing to be flexible as things arose. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again, and would recommend them to anyone provided you be a little flexible about delivery and pick-up hours.

Finally, it wasn't obvious to me whether there was secure checkout on their website. I don't think that it was (possibly I'm wrong), and it might have had some invalid certificates. Everything turned out fine, but if this thing bothers you I gather that they take orders on the phone, too. Overall, I'm happy with ZippGo; They're worth using today and only bound to get even better.

*Too heavy to carry for normal folks. We hired movers - they could knock out three at time!

Let me begin by saying--I loathe moving... really hate it... despise it.  You get the picture.

Now, I must say, ZippGo is the best thing since sliced bread in the moving world.  Delivery was on time and pick up was easy to coordinate.  Best of all, the boxes forced me to unpack in a timely manner and they were easy for the movers to transport from my old apartment to my new place.  I would say, this last move was hands down the best... I will definitely use ZippGo for my next move, and you should too!

I remember one time I was moving in college and and I packed a lot of random shit INTO my microwave cause I ran out of boxes. When I got to my destination everything in there arrived safe and I thought to myself, "Man, packing stuff into a microwave is super easy. I wish I had, like, 50 microwaves to pack all my shit into!"

So yeah, ZippGo kinda stole my idea, but I'll let them slide since recycled plastic totes for moving is a really awesome idea (and are much lighter than your standard microwave).

Anyway, I used ZippGo for my last move and not only does it save time packing (tons of time really) it also makes moving super quick AND, because of the handles, no one will carry any box upside down breaking your stuff. Even when you make some totes obnoxiously heavy with full volumes of books or your anvil collection they're still much easier to manage than a equal weighted cardboard box.

Overall, if you hate the time it takes building boxes and/or the idea of killing trees so you can move your DVD library of 80's sitcoms to a new apartment then definitely consider ZippGo.

Super-personal attention and service from Ash, conveniently worked around my schedule when I needed to change pickup times for the boxes, and credited me an extra week when they forgot the packing paper that came with my BuyWithMe coupon (thanks Eddie!). Fast service and great product- the standard prices are on the steep side but if you get a deal/coupon it's a very good value over cardboard, and easy to reuse/pack with more stuff. You'll probably need 2 weeks anyway (1 to pack and 1 to unpack) so be sure to check the fine print if you are using a discount offer and pay the nominal charge for an extra week. Thanks ZippGo.

Highly recommended service. Moves are a pain, but ZippGo helped simplify my move a ton. Ash, the owner, is responsive and accommodating, making an annoying task as least annoying as possible. The boxes are sturdy and stackable so saves on space and you don't have to worry about your stuff breaking or getting too out of place in the box. It was nice not to have to deal with a ton of packing supplies with cardboard boxes. Major pro: didn't have to hunt down moving boxes or worry about hauling them in and out of my apt.

This really is the only way to move.
-Easy to pack and unpack; the crates stack out of the way when empty.
-The movers loved them and the move went quicker--saved $$ there.
-Rain threatened and I didn't care--my stuff was all safe in plastic.
-Ordering, drop-off, and pick-up all went smooth as can be.
-The slightly smaller book crates are a great idea.
-2-week rental window is a great incentive to get packed and unpacked in a timely manner.

I purchased a deal on HomeRun. The deal failed to disclose that cities north of San Rafael were not included in the delivery area. The owner wanted to charge me $29 to Novato and $79 to Petaluma. He was nice enough to try to help me  but he never seemed to get the fact that the failure to disclose this fact was the issue. The concept is wonderful but the company needs to clean up the details.
Based on the owner's response, I must again comment. He DID offer me me "free" 3-weeks extra for packing the boxes. Cool. First, I did not ask for this-I am going on an environmental trip to Ecuador for 2.5 weeks, and I simply pointed that fact out to him. It costs nothing to ZippGo to rent their boxes for additional time unless they have so few boxes that they have to get them back into circulation quickly. The 3-weeks-freeis a specious charge. I paid $49 intending to receive the service that was advertised. The fact that ZippGo's service area excluded my moving cities was NOT disclosed in the HomeRun ad. Owner, fess up-your company screwed up. You have a great idea, but don't gouge me because of your errors. (one half star)
The owner just wrote me to tell me I should have checked his website and I would have found the list of cities. I wonder if you agree. I have bought many offers on social networking sites; they all have TOO much information. A company that advertises itself as doing business in the "Bay Area" should explain that fact if it's not true. Don't buy from this dude; he's not honest or forthright. Read this (from the owner) :

    Hi Jim,

I re-read the Homerun deal we offered and on the bottom of the page there is a link that says "Click to read our standard rules".  If you click this link you will see a list of "General Rules".  If you skip to the last bullet point in the list, it reads:

"All offers are subject to the featured merchant's standard terms and conditions"

Our standard terms and conditions include the delivery areas we cover in our packages which as you know from looking at our site do not include Novato or Petaluma."
Rubric's Cube would be easier. I change my review to ZERO stars.

The boxes are great and the staff very friendly, but they seem pretty disorganized. Their website can be confusing and error-prone, like no one bothered to test it out. The driver was an hour and a half late to drop the boxes off, and didn't call until half an hour after he was supposed to be there. Called the 800 number to check up and no one answered (on a Sat to be fair). Turned out he had a different delivery window for me than I had been told.

The first time I used them, they had to reschedule the drop-off because their truck was going to be in the shop. Trouble is, they then rescheduled my pickup too without telling me. So the poor driver, who couldn't find my house, kept calling me to pick them up when I wasn't even home. I called her back and the 800 number, left messages which no one seemed to get, so it was kind of a mess.

Having said all this, I like that they're a local business, they try hard and are nice, and they're doing good to reduce waste. I will continue to use them, but hope they hire an office manager or something to get organized, buy GPS for the truck, and fix the website.

This is a GREAT idea! I took care of everything online (request, payment, scheduled drop off day/time) two days before I needed boxes. I got a phone call the same evening from a ZippGo rep who let me know they had received my order and they would deliver boxes around 2:30 on the scheduled day. They were on time, professional, quick and friendly. They had my 25 boxes along with zipties and labels. When it came time to pickup the boxes after the move, a simple phone call got them there and boxes were gone in a matter of minutes. Really LOVE this service.

We rented 25 boxes and a dolly for 3 weeks to move a 1 bedroom apartment from one side of the city to another. I thought 25 was way too many for the amount of stuff we owned but we ended up using every single one. The boxes fit a lot and can get quite heavy - we quickly learned that it's best to fill each to about half way with heavier items and then top it off with lighter things like clothing.

The boxes feel sturdy and stack securely. We were able to fit 6 in the back of a Honda Element. You'll be able to comfortably stack 4 boxes on top of the dolly.

The boxes got dropped off about 15 mins after the scheduled window and I had to proactively call to schedule a specific time for pickup. No big deal. It would've been a nice touch if they called ahead when they were near the drop-off or pickup address.

I'll totally use ZippGo again for our next move - totally beats using flimsy cardboard boxes that you either have to store somewhere or throw away after the move.

Zippgo is a truly green company that practices what it preaches. The boxes are a little pricey - and a smaller size would be helpful for books etc. - but they are sturdy, spacious, close up by themselves and stack together in the truck, no slip or slide! The delivery guy came right on time for drop off and pick up and was nice to boot. Plus, the rental period means you have serious motivation to un-pack! Skip the plastic ties (unrecyclable and painful to remove) and the paper packaging add-ons (expensive) but the boxes are a winner. Overall, a great experience. Thank you Zippgo!

Moving SUCKS.  No matter what.  So anything that will make it easier is, in my book, a godsend.  I didn't realize how great of an idea this was until I actually used it.  Not only is the company green and you can rest assured that you are doing the *right* thing, but these boxes and this service is just so much easier than the alternatives.  No need to scavenge supermarkets for boxes or buy and make dozens upon dozens... the boxes just arrive at your door, simple as that.  Then when you're done... no breaking down boxes, no trips to the dumpster down the street (illegal yes) or recycling plant.  Additionally, the boxes are sturdy and strong.  You're not going to damage your stuff when you stack them up and move them around.  All of them have built in handles, and are perfectly sized that you can fit a good deal in them, but can still easily carry and hold them.  When you're done filling, you just close the lid and use the zipties (included) to secure it.  Way easier than taping up boxes.  Ash also includes plenty of labels to stick on the boxes to keep track of your stuff.  Thumbs up.

Moving is never a fun venture, the packing, the moving, and then the unpacking...I've done it 5 times in the past 9 years...I hate the part of collecting cardboard boxes to pack up my stuff...and you are never quite sure of the integrity of your boxes that you do get (unless you decide to spend tons of money on new cardboard boxes)...it's never happened to me, but i do fear picking up a box and having all my belongings fall out of the bottom of the box...i recently bought a condo, and had to do the big move...my real estate agent recommended i try zippgo as an environmentally-friendly way of moving my stuff...being green-minded, i decided to check it out...and i must say, it was a great idea...I set up an appt. with Ash for him to drop off pre-move and pick-up post-move the 25 boxes...it was that easy, telling him when and where and what package i needed (i got the 1BR package for my studio and it was more than enough)...Ash called the day before drop-off to confirm a time...he dropped them off and i was left to pack them up...2 weeks later he picked them up after i unpacked them...easy as that...now i don't have to deal with getting rid of cardboard boxes...great service, great idea...
