$160 for 15min ride, or so, c'mon?
choppers don't even get close to bldgs.
i think since 9/11 and the peak in gas prices,
the beauty of a leisurely cruise around manhattan
has been lost. Do the $30 speed boat ride down
to the statue of liberty and back instead ...
that's scenic and a much better deal!
My first time in New York City, and the helicopter tour was suppose to be the highlight of the trip...sadly this was not the case. Although the helicopter tour was booked well in advance, and the time and date confirmed the morning of via phone and email, ZIP tours informed us that there were no available flights for our confirmed flight time, and the only other available time for this particular tour was 2 hours later. They were unable to tell us why we were able to book a tour at this particular time even though it was unavailable (the reply: "all "airlines" do it, it is called stand-by"). As you can imagine, my schedule for this day was packed, with other tours in the afternoon. Cancellation was not an option because there is a 24 hr cancellation policy (again, I called the morning of and received an oral confirmation...which neither of the two people in the office confirms giving).
Unless we wanted to default the $400 for the 15 minute tour, we had to upgrade to an even more expensive tour that fit our schedule.
My advice to you, unless you want to be booked on "standby" and waste time arguing with the office staff, stay away from ZIP tours and choose a more professional establishment.
The Manhattan Skyline Tour is $160.00. I'm going to take my Mom here for her birthday this coming January !!!

I got to see a Liberty Helo land and the Zip Helo take off. I've always wanted to learn how to fly. I'll learn how to fly fixed wing first and work my way up to these cool birds...
