Excellent outfitter. Great staff and high quality gear for rent. Worth the money.

In the parking lot, I spoke with an enthusiastic couple who had signed up for a canyoneering trip. When they went inside, their guide cheerfully greeted them both by name. Many people came in to rent gear for the Narrows, and despite having to answer the same questions many times, the staff members were as patient as they were knowledgeable. I appreciated the quick-but-informative video and the extra route information. Additionally, they were very flexible when it came to renting and returning the gear.

It's nice to see a business like this.

Great selection of rental equipment and knowledgeable, friendly staff. We needed a butane/propane canister for our stove, which we couldn't find at other shops. We brought in the stove and they told us it was an older stove and only one company made the canisters, which they didn't carry. But they did have a stove that would work with the canister that we already bought.

Computerized checkout of equipment made the transaction easy. They also had some good maps of the trails in zion.

The video they make you watch definitely scares you into getting all the gear needed, but I'm glad that I did.  Initially, I was only going to rent out shoes, socks, and a hiking stick, ($18) but threw in the pants for an additional $18.00.  The gear definitely kept me warm and safe on the hike at the Temple of Sinawava.  Well worth the money to rent out the gear.  Plus the staff are all very knowledgeable, friendly, and engaging.  The one thing though is the rancid stench from the shoes and socks.  That smell will pierce your nose.  And my brother saw them cleaning the gear which involved rinsing off with water and putting back on the racks.    For future use, even though the pants were really protective and warm, I might invest in other pants on my own because the rubber grips were pretty painful and tight and caused some bruising on me.  But despite the aforementioned comments, I would highly recommend this place.  In addition to rented gear, they have great sale prices if you want to purchase your own hiking gear: shoes, socks, etc. as well as snacks, stuff for the trip, and memorabilia.  Plus they'll give you inside tips on weather, where to go, what to do and see, and cater it to your experience level.

Excellent service and equipment. They stayed open late to outfit us with dry suits for a Narrows hike. This saved us a bunch of time in the morning. Everyone we dealt with was patient and helpful - even the newbies. The management is doing a good job with hiring and training.

The fact that this place exists really makes experiencing Zion more accessible to those who aren't gear-heads with every conceivable piece of outdoor equipment in tow.

My group of 7 came here in November 08. They do allow you to pick up the dry pants/equipment the day before prior to closing.

Our interaction with the guy in the evening was good. He was very laid back and answered our questions. He allowed us to watch the video and come back the following day to pick up our gear. We weren't sure if it would rain the following day, so he allowed us to make the call on the day of if we'd go out. I had called in all 7 of our measurements prior to arrival, so they had our equipment put to the side for us.

When we arrived in the AM, there was only one gal there. She seemed a bit overwhelmed and wasn't too friendly. Not sure if it was just stress, someone didn't show up for work or tired of us tourists.

We got out and went on our journey. It was a great day out in the narrows. I highly recommend this as a must-do. Upon walking back from the Narrows to the parking lot, I was sloshing quite a bit. I know I put the pants on correctly. Somehow the water got into the pants. I had to drain my pants prior to getting back in the car.

When we got back to the outfitters, several people in our party had water in their pants. We found out that these were new pants for the outfitters and they retired the other pants that we used 2 years ago. They said that they would check each pants to see if they needed some work on it.

We used this company for both days in Zion. The first day we went on a canyoneering trip, we had fourteen people total with three guides. They took us out in Land Cruisers about 45 mins from their place. The next day we also rented equipment from them for hiking the Narrows.

The canyoneering trip was incredible and very exciting. The guides (Nick, Calvin, and Jessica) were very helpful and knowledgeable. Though some of the rapels were very intimidating (most of them you couldn't tell what was down there), they were very encouraging and professional. At one point I had no place to put my feet and was just dangling and swinging around, and Calvin came down after me and directed me to the bottom.

The highest canyon we rappelled down was probably around 100ft and after a while it gives out under you. This was also the one with a deep pool at the bottom that we had to swim across. I actually did not know how to swim over with my pack and made Calvin do it first hehe.

Canyoneering is way intense and most of the time very scary but this company knows what they're doing to help you have an "adventure." This seems to mean not knowing what's going to happen, as Nick never told us what was on the bottom or how high these rapels were. But it was a great experience and I had lots of fun. The whole day ended around 3pm and we had a 45min hike up and then about 6 rapels down.

We rented our equipment for hiking The Narrows from Zion Adventure and their cost was very reasonable, their services was excellent, and their staff was knowledgeable and friendly

We would highly recommend Zion Adventure company to anyone who visits the Zion National Park and needs outfitting for hiking, shuttle service, or anything else you can think of. Their staff will help give you the information you need to stay safe.

They will rent you everything you need but beware if you break / damage anything.  We rented the dry suit equipment for doing the narrows (walking upstream in waist deep water) and unfortunately a rubber gasket tore on one of the suits.  It was an old suit and I think it just failed due to wear and tear (excuse the pun) but they wanted to charge us another $45.  After quite a bit of debate we agreed to pay $20 (which was probably just to get us to leave and stop arguing).  Anyway, they seem ok but as always - don't break the rented gear.

In hindsight, I should have read that canyoneering is considered an extreme sport.  All I remembered reading on the web site was that even kids could do it.  So, I figured easy peasy.  I was expecting to rappel a little and then have beer afterwards . . .

Signed up for their Canyon Adventure Day for $119 (price depends on group number). The day can be geared toward what the group wants, ranging from 45 mins to 1.5 hr hike up between 400 to 1200 ft in elevation gain,  up to 8 rappels, and swimming/wading in canyon water.

The outfitter is excellent - they provide you with everything you need for the day, such as packs with dry bags, harnesses, dry suits (that look like race car driver suits), extra fleece tops and bottoms, nerdy bright yellow or white helmets, special neoprene socks, and cool waterproof hiking shoes that grip well to wet rocks.  Everything seemed clean and in good working order.  Note: you'll have to do your best sausage impression to get your head, arms, legs, and feet through the dry suit and socks.  In addition, no matter how hard you try, you will not look sexy with all that gear on.

Turned out to be a test of physical and mental mettle.  There's hiking uphill with heavy packs, scrambling over boulders, problem solving, and rappelling into very chilly pools.  We got there at 7:30 a.m. sharp with little food or sleep, they drove us on a bumpy ride to Water Canyon (remote and near a Amish-like/Little House on the Prairie community, but I digress) outside of Zion for our full day adventure.  Didn't like the fact that we had to carry our gear ourselves and problem solve  (if I wanted to experience Survivor Real World, I'd just watch it on TV).  Though we had a guide, we guided ourselves.  We hiked up about 2 miles with our heavy packs,  descended down two 40 ft. rappels, one 100 ft. rappel, and a teeny tiny rappel at the end.  We bumbled around in brown muddy, arctic water  (dry suits turned into inflatable flotation devices in water) and figured out how to get ourselves over and down huge boulder barriers.  Finished the whole shebang around 5 p.m.

All in all, I'm glad I did it (what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right?), and it was true outdoor adventure. Recommend it for hardcore outdoor enthusiasts (those who like peeing in flowing water or using a poopie bag) and for team building folks, not so much for cupcake eating, urban at heart girls like myself.

Guide Evan (aka Yoda) rocks!
