After becoming inspired by numerous youtube tutorials, I recently started making soap and bath fizzies.  Zenith is the only store I could find locally for purchasing all my supplies.  I walked in with a list, but still felt extremely overwhelmed once I realized how many options I had in front of me.  They pretty much sell everything you need to make soap or candles, along with random knick-knacks, books, jewelry, yoga & massage stuff..... you're basically walking into a big hippie fest at Zenith!  However, they are really lacking a supply of quality colorants/micas for soap and they also don't sell jojoba beads, which really surprises me since those are both popular additives for making soap.

I've found the staff to be helpful, especially Liz, she rocks!  The only thing that has been irritating to me, regarding customer service, is when employees decide to take breaks during a super busy time/peak hours, leaving only one co-worker to help, check-out, and answer the phone for 15 people.  This scenario has happened several times when I've been in, but I'm usually understanding due to the nature of the store and that it generally caters to laid-back hippies (I'm from Boulder, I know all about living with hippies lol).

For the most part, prices are average to expensive, I wouldn't saying anything in the store is a steal.  Unless I find a better place in Seattle to buy my supplies, I will remain a fan of Zenith! Oh, and if you park around the corner on 63rd, you don't have to pay since it's free 2hr parking!

What a hidden treasure! Even the lovely woman working here joked that most people thought they were a closed stereo store based on the exterior of the store and the name.

Inside, however, is an amazing array of materials for soap making, essential and fragrance oils, dried herbs, massage oils, sea salts...  basically everything a wizard could want, and much of it sold in bulk for excellent prices.

The women working their were friendly and funny, maintaining a good sense of humor even when the store went from dead to 15 people milling around plus the phones ringing on 4 lines.

Buy local and keep this great place in business, trust me, you won't find better prices online- especially factoring in shipping.

I have shopped at Zenith Supplies for fifteen years. Largely because they are the only store in Seattle of their kind. I never loved the occult vibe coming from the store, in all honesty.

I have purchased massage supplies for my use, filled VIP treatment rooms with the highest priced equipment Zenith carries, and referred the massage therapists I mentor in Seattle to their products despite their high employee turn over and general bad attitude towards customers.

I have NEVER once been treated well in their store. Nor have my friends. We are massage authors, mentors and NCTMB instructors who refer a lot of business. Each of us has come out of the store SHOCKED at the treatment we receive.

Add this to the fact that they recently withheld my friends refund money (an NCTMB Cupping Instructor that sends them a lot of business) due to their tricky policies, they've increased the price of $35 massage lotions to $75 in recent months, and and their selection is so outdated they don't even carry the top selling massage business book written by a Seattle native "The Magic Touch: How to Make $100,000 per year as a Massage Therapist" or Laura Allen's "One year to a Successful Massage Practice", I can't imagine this location will stay afloat much longer. If you don't have what we need, what keeps us up to date and informed, and you gouge with high prices and rude attitude... what is our motivation for spending money at your store? There is none.

I hate to see small businesses skipped over for larger competitors. But in this case, I know the people at Massage Warehouse and they are nice people who are always seeking to provide the best possible equipment. In this economy we should only reward those who are committed to better customer service and fair prices.

I've only been to Zenith once, but that experience plus their selection alone is far and away 5 stars!!

First of all, yes, their employees seemed like they could be a little cold, but it's Seattle, folks.  I've found people here often go into stores, too timid to say anything to anyone, and when the clerks also don't go out of their  way to immediately see to this timid little mouse of a person skulking around their store, the fire up their phones and write a "bad customer service" yelp review.  Suck it up, folks.  Steel your pathetic nerve and just go talk to them.

I am in the process of starting a line of shaving soaps, so I had done a lot of reading on the subject and cold process soap making.  I had a list of ingredients, but I needed some advice on a few things, as well as some help finding some stuff.  I walked in, walked up to the tall woman with black hair and said "Hey, I'm starting to make soaps, can you tell me where to find the clays?" she happily directed me there and let me know that they would do the official weighing, but there was a scale there for my own reference.  I thanked her, got my clay and walked back over to her and said "I also need some glycerin, and do you might if I pile my stuff on the counter over here?"  She said of course, and cleared a little spot for me and then walked me over to the glycerin and explained that one of the bottles is actually a glycerin soap base so make sure I didn't get that one.

Once I had found pretty much everything, her and I talked for a while about ideas on how to make my own mold out of pvc piping (they didn't have exactly the kind of mold I was looking for and she acknowledged that)  and how best to line it.  Then she said that if I ever get a business license, they can give me the business hookup, etc.  Which I thought was super cool and nice of her to mention.

All in all, they were extremely helpful without being up in my face the whole time I was in there and with their help I was able to successfully make my first back of soaps that very.  I could not be happier with my experience over there and there's no better comfort for a soapmaker than knowing you can get any ingredient you might need quickly and locally.

Rudest service ever and I buy tons of oils. I was sitting in the back of the store sorting through my excel spreadsheet on my phone trying to determine what oils I needed to purchase when one of the employees approached me and told me they did not approve of people sitting around using the store as a phone booth. I was dumbfounded. I shop all over the world and have even thrown tarot cards in Bergdorf Goodman with the staff watching on with great interest before making a purchase and these attitudinal robots treat me with zero love, just contempt. Their products must be tainted by the vibe. I would stay away big time.

This is a great store and I love the people who work there. I've been shopping at Zenith Supplies for three years now, my main focus being soapmaking.  It is so nice to find most  the supplies I need in one loocation, especially if I run out of something and need it right away. More importantly, I  just have to say how much I love the people who work there. They are kind, knowledgeable, heplful and funloving. They are always heplful with any needs or questions, promptly call when products come in that I need, and go the extra mile for special requests.  I am grateful for this store.

A couple of weeks ago a friend needed to stop by Zenith, and took me along.  I'd never been before, but they have a lot of neat supplies for soap-making and other things like that, and I was really interested.  Well, forget it - I'll have to find somewhere to buy them online.

Upon entering the store there were no employees to be found.  We walked around a bit and then, discovering that we needed help getting more perfume vials, went to wait at the counter.  After standing there patiently for a few minutes another woman came up behind us and shouted out in the store trying to find someone to help her.  A woman walked up to the counter and went to help the other customer, who immediately informed her that we were first.

The employee ignored this and began ringing up the woman's purchase, at which point the customer turned to us and apologized and - once again - informed the employee that we had been first in line.  She turned and asked us what we needed, my friend informed her that we needed more perfume vials than they had out, and she said "Well, can you just wait while I finish here?" in a very rude tone.
Well, sure, we can wait, but then again this customer already told you repeatedly that we were first!

After ringing the other sale she took us over to get the perfume vials, which my friend thought we would have to count.  So, after shoving the box at my friend and snapping "Fine, count them yourself" she started off on a tirade.  Apparently if we want to be *allowed* to shop in her store, we have to be more friendly.  Well, up to this point I had said not a word to her, and I certainly don't think we were doing anything unfriendly.  Sure, we may have not been overjoyed after standing around waiting for her to appear and then watching her ring the person who was behind us in line, but we weren't making a fuss about it.

She then went on to accuse my friend of being "aggressive".  Now, I have worked in retail for years and the thought of starting an argument with a customer is just strange to me - keep in mind that at this time we were happily counting the vials we were planning to purchase.  Add that to the fact that in the whole interaction I really didn't see anything that could be interpreted as aggressive.

But the last part was the real kicker.  When my friend *apologized* for coming off as aggressive (though she certainly wasn't trying to be) and explained that she has a form of autism, that apparently wasn't enough.  No, when any normal person would have let it go... (Hey, she apologized, she said she didn't mean to be aggressive, she explained that she is autistic and doesn't do social interactions well!) this employee "Ivy" still wasn't satisfied.

No, she continued to accuse her of being aggressive and say how horribly rude *we* were being, and eventually, after my friend snapped and said something not-so-nice, kicked us out of the store.  Now, I don't advocate insulting anyone, but at this point Ivy had been attacking her, accusing her of aggression, and not accepted an apology and explanation as enough.

And this is why I will never shop at Zenith, and why my friend who has shopping there for years, will most likely find another source for her supplies.  Imagine my surprise when I checked their website after this experience and discovered that they claim "We've made customer service a top priority".  Ha ha.

Apparently the employees at Zenith are goddesses and we are supposed to make some sort of offering before being allowed to shop there.  It's ok, I don't want to.

Everything you need to make the world smell better, one person at a time.

A great place for beginners and experts alike. The staff is quite helpful, and they have a vast assortment of scents for your soap/oil/lotion/candle making needs - available in both all natural and synthetic varieties.

They also offer vessels of EVERY imaginable type for your finished products. Tiny slide-lid pots for lip balms, jars, bottles, lids - you name it, they'll have it.

(A smart person might even buy the inexpensive metal containers to use as spice jars. Just like Dean & Deluca, only cheap!)

Zenith is a place you seek out when you need it.  One night, we needed to make candles.  It was one of those sheer pleasure of trying to make candles experiment.  We went out in search of candle wax and other supplies but didn't fare too well at the local Goodwill stores.  I found this place mentioned online and off we went.

I can't believe I didn't know about this place!  It's my kind of store.  New Age feel without the flakiness.  Supplies to make your own soap, bath crystals, perfumes, massage oils, candles and more.  They have a section with massage therapy needs.  Even chairs, balls and tables.  They do have some craft inspired supplies too.  Like incense, sage sticks, and a few other tokens.  And some very nice witchcraft candles.

On top of all this they sell some very nice jewelry, vases, pictures, posters and statues.  And if you are gun shy about anything, there are plenty of great books on how-to and the staff was helpful.   But they do tend to be busy so just be patient if you have a question.

This store is definitely a great stop for any crafter or anyone wanting to experiment with making beauty products for a weekend.  I can't wait to go back soon!

I really love this store. I love it so much that I find myself stopping in on  a weekly basis and buying something (often not even something I need). I'm just learning about making my own lotions, soaps, etc. and I appreciate the room the workers give me to just look at stuff. However the workers have all been very helpful anytime I've asked questions or just their thoughts on things.

I appreciate being able to buy a variety of different oils in different amounts. They have grapeseed oil, aloe vera oil, sesame seed oil, avocado oil, and the list just goes on and on. They sell many other items in bulk (different sea salt, sodium bicarbonate, etc.) which makes experimenting at home cheaper.

Although the majority of staff members have been beyond helpful there is one girl that never seems that friendly, therefore I can't give them a 5. But it's definitely a cool store!

Fantastic place to pick up oils when you're experimenting with soap-making, candles, etc. It's pretty cheap, but you get what you pay for (not the highest quality).
I couldn't stop drooling in this place the first time I went in there because there are so many delicious new experiences.

A thousand dollars later, the time came to return something, and what a crappy experience. I have never felt more hated for not liking something in my life, and I'm surprised I was eventually able to actually get my money back.

Most of the staff have no idea what they are talking about, but really think they do. Listening to them talk in circles can be amusing. And they get way defensive about how their oils aren't organic.
Yes, I know that a company has to pay a lot of money to be certified organic, and I have respect for farmers who forgo that bureaucracy. I'm not asking for certification - are your oils grown with pesticides/sustainability or not? That's all I'm askin', and you can't tell me. Avoiding the question makes me pretty sure they aren't..

Overall, I'm very grateful this place exists because there is no where else like it around here.
I just wish the staff was less condescending and would admit when they don't know what they're talking about. (aside from an older dude, who was super nice and an awesome pleasure to be cashiered by).

My inner spa nerd narcissis has called me here!

You cannot get any better in getting bulk soap making, herbs, massage oils, crystals, aromatherapy, huge barrels of bath salts, glass and tin jars, massage accessories and the list goes on and on. Its like a mini mom and pop costco.

The location is perfect too, just a block away from Whole Foods - save the parkng meter money and park free in the grocery lot.
Staff is on hand to help choose the right glycerin or oil for your soapyness...........I swear there had to be at least 15 different gallons on hand to choose from!!

Zenith will be on my list of places for custom gifts of bathing bliss!

went in today - bonus, they are open on a holiday.  was greeted immediately by a non-intrusive but friendly staff member.  instantly overwhelmed by all the 'stuff' that is in there...was looking to buy some essential oils to clean my yoga mat.  she directed me to the oils section and patiently explained the difference between 'fragrance' vs. 'essential' oils (fragrance = synthetic; essential = derived from herbs).  when she heard what I planned to use them for, she quickly pulled out a recipe for a basic yoga mat cleaner (witch hazel; distilled water; lavender and tea tree essential oils).  everything is organized well - they have a section for smelling all the oils so the vials you buy have not been tampered with, which is great - nothing like buying something only to realize 1/3 is gone from people sampling it.   she also suggested I buy a dropper, which was $0.10, to help distribute the oils.  she was knowledgeable but not overly prescriptive - which was really appreciated.  I'd buy here again.  4 stars because no parking...so go on a sunday/holiday or during the evening if you don't feel like paying for parking.

I make cold-process soap, candles, and other random toiletries and this is the place I like to go for a lot of supplies. On-line is cheaper, but I usually run out of something right when I want to make something -- and luckily, Zenith will usually have it. They also have tons of essential and and fragrance oils and it's fun to smell and come up with different combinations.

Besides oils and other supplies, they have neat containers, jars, and other random items you never knew you couldn't live without. I love this place.

Man, what is it about this place? I've been coming here inconsistently since 1997.

My mom loves to make soap and mix oils, but the new age and spiritual stuff in here gives me a horrible headache.

I noticed they carry some items I purchase at Whole Foods and PCC, but their prices (Zenith) were higher.

Zenith has a big supply of essential oils, but they don't carry any ORGANIC essential oils (at least not at the time of this review.)
There's a homeopathic section, a book section, massage stuff, crystals, vials, and sooo much more. I like the store. Some of the clerks there don't know anything about what they're selling.
I'll be stopping in there before the new year to buy an astrological calender and day planner. :)

Wish there were similar stores in the Seattle area. Prefer to shop online but it is nice to have around. I make cold process soap, lotion and candles. Mainly just buy base oils, glycerin and lye here, sometimes wax if they have some in stock. Good for other supplies such as bottles, jars, containers, vials, pipettes, etc. They have an okay selection of essential oils but their prices are mostly higher for them than what you can find elsewhere. I also wish they listed the origins and botanical names for their EOs. Staff is usually friendly but not the most knowledgeable, best to do your own homework or get assistance or training elsewhere. Another store to check out in the NW is Otion Soap / Brambleberry up in Bellingham.

When the urge comes over you to make your own soap or scent  your own body oils or set up a massage center in your home, then high-tail it over to Zenith.  Wholesale setup of bulk lotions, oils and creams will have you making Christmas presents early this year.
I've been shopping here for years and am always pleased with the quality of the merchandise.  Just stepping into the shop will have your head spinning from the hundreds of scents that float on the air.  I wonder if they have one that stops me from spending all my money there?

I've only been here once, because I made out like a bandit the one time I went and haven't had occasion to replace anything yet. However, make no mistake: Zenith is lodged firmly in the territories of Awesome.

They sell a variety of massage oils and lotions, candle and soap making supplies, scented oils (both natural and artificial), and twee little jars and bottles to put your finished concoctions in. Basically, if it comes in a bottle and smells good, they sell if. If you're hardcore, and want to make your own good-smelling stuff and put it in the bottles of your choosing, they can hook you up. Best of both worlds.

The caveat? If your tolerance for that hippy-dippy-new-agey-love-and-light BS is waning, stepping within 25 yards of Zenith will light you on fire. Seriously. Run.

I used to shop at Zenith a lot.  I say "used to" because I will be looking for a different distributor.  And believe me, I spend a lot of money on soap making supplies, fragrance and eo oils, bottles, vials, and many other things that Zenith carries.

But their employees are total FAIL.  They have two nice employees and the rest treat you like you're bugging them.  There is one man who works there who is ALWAYS rude.  (He is the only man I've ever seen working there in the 15+ years I've been going to Zenith.)

Today I was "helped" (not at all) by "Ivy" who was no where to be seen in the store as we stood at the counter patiently for five minutes, waiting to be helped.  She showed up only because the person BEHIND us started yelling, "is anyone here??"  And she helped THEM first even though they told her TWICE that we were in front of them.  Then she threw a little fit when I asked for sample perfume vials.  she tried to blow me off by saying, "they're over there."  Yes, I know where they are.  I spend hundreds of dollars here every month.  I need more than you have out.  So she glacialllly walks over to that area and gets them out, slams them on the counter, and starts counting.  Now the last many times, the guy who works there has made ME count them because he can't be bothered.  (Customers are such an inconvienience!)  So I said, "oh!  You're going to count them!  Usually they make me do it!"  She gets all tiffed and dumps them back in the box and shoves it over to me,  "Fine, you do it."  So I happily start counting vials and my friend starts counting out caps.  The clerk watches us rather than seeing if any of the other 10 people in the store need any help.  Then she says in her snotty tone, "You know, if you're going to come into MY store, you need to be more friendly".  EXCUSE ME???  "You're being aggressive."  Me and my friend are looking at her like she has lost it.  I explained to her that, yes, I am autistic.. we don't have a lot of facial expression.  Sorry.  Also, we are not very happy because we had to wait so long for her to show up AND the woman told her twice that we were first and she ignored her.  She didn't smile at US.  She didn't say HI to us.  She acted like we were bothering her by coming in and making her work or interact with people.  I explained this to her in not so delicate terms and advised that if she didn't want us to shop at HER store, fine, we'd leave.  "I'm not asking you to leave, I'm asking you to be nice."  I was being nice.  Now I'm not going to be so nice.  You're acting like a spoiled child and a rude B***TH.  "Gasp!  LEAVE MY STORE NOW!"  Yeah, we're outta here.  She refused to give us any more name than "Ivy", refused to give us her manager's name, refused to give us their phone number or an address to write to.

Yeah.  Customer service = FAIL.  Don't act like customers are a bother.  Don't be rude.  Don't get in their faces and tell them they are "not being friendly".   You're being PAID to work there, you could extend an effort to be friendly or at least nice.  You'd be amazed at how it is reciprocated... but when you start out being rude and annoyed that we are bothering you, don't expect us to fall all over ourselves trying to please you.

I really only walked in to get sea salts for a soothing soak. But then they had soap making supplies and melting glycerin for soap isn't that hard and they had some amazing smelling oils to put in it and star molds, so I said "what the hell" and added that to my pile. But then they also had green tea oil, which I love, so I threw that in as well not even knowing exactly how I was going to use it. Then there was the massage oil... That's what will happen to you if you walk into this store. Truly.

As a massage practitioner moving up from Portland, you can imagine how excited I was when I realized I was living a stone's throw from the coolest supply place! I have a substantial book wish list at this place. There is tons of interesting stuff that would satisfy a million curiosities. You should check it out! There is always knowledgeable, courteous staff if you have questions.

This place is a horrible establishment. They treat customers like garbage.

I bought a heating pad, got it home and it did not work. I brought it back within the exchange time line and got another. The second one did not work . So I again, I brought it back within the time line (the store is 30 miles, one way, from my home.) The manager accused me of braking it. She yelled at me and threatened not to return my money.

I asked her for the name of the store owner and she would not tell me. I researched the owner's name and number. I called the number and it was the owner's attorney. I left a detailed message with the attorney's office and they never got back to me.

I am writing this to warn you. Do not spend your hard-earned money at Zenith. They are disrespectful and abuse the people that pay their bills, the customer.

My dear, stay clear of Zenith!

I love this place! I make soap every year and get all the supplies here. I've also shopped there for candle, lip balm, and bath salt supplies. Perfect for the crafty gifter. You can buy massage table and meditation supplies too. And they have a small but nice incense/gift/candle section. All in all a really fun store to peruse.

    i love this place.

I buy my toner here (2 parts rose water, 1 part which hazel!) and i had forgotten the equation but the woman at the counter reminded me.
i love looking at the funky jewelery and stones, browsing the books, and i still mean to make soap. they also sell moisturizers and soaps for those of us who don't want to make it..Oh, and mud mask! it caters to the cheap ass in me, as well as the artist, and yet they also have lovely scents..oh i forgot about the scents! Oh, just do yourself a favor and GO! asap!

Zenith has all the things you'll need for the stuff you want to make. I buy candle-making supplies, bulk oils, glass and plastic bottles, and occasionally other knickknacks and candles. Zenith is great!

Best place to shop if you make your own cold process soap or similar. Wholesale quantities of oils. Wish there was one like it in the Bay Area.

"Zenith is a place you can go to buy bulk massage oils and lotions, essential oils, massage equipment at discount prices and many other items you'd imagine are in a metaphysical store.  Crystals, books, candles, bulk herbs, and jewelry are just a few items on the list.  The staff is knowledgeable and helpful and prices are awesome.  If nothing else, you can just check it out and learn some new stuff about how to make your own bath salts! I also wonder if they have any special blend to help me avoid spending all my money there!

They have a great selection in aromatherapy, massage items, relaxation, you name it!  This is a very fun store.  I even like most of the stickers in their display cases!  Get your lotions here.
