Flat Creek Restaurant & Saloon

I had high hopes.

We had a large group (almost 30) and everyone ordered their steaks to their liking. They ran out of ribeye so I took one for the team and accepted strip steak as a substitute, medium rare with Cajun seasoning and blackening. I'm a firm believer that anyone who orders a well done steak shouldn't be allowed in a steakhouse us well done is Latin for ruined steak.

When I got my steak, I cut into it. It wasn't medium rare. It was well done but I had already had a considerable wait time so I just ate it. Man....I had high hopes. The veggies were cold. The steak has been weighed, it is been measured and it is found wanting.

Now I did get to try the ribs, they were pretty dang good, only problem is, I didn't order them, someone offered half their rack. Now I had a Caesar side salad, truthfully it tasted like mayonnaise was smothered onto the lettuce.

The service wasn't great either, couldn't get a refill on water, the carafe stayed empty and the servers weren't friendly. If anything, they were annoyed about bringing our group their food. And to top it all off, they charged a higher price than what is advertised on their own website - then not even honor it.

And can I just say, that I've never wanted to brush my teeth to get the taste out of my mouth so quickly than after I ate this steak? I couldn't tell anyone, friend or foe to visit here.

Flat Creek is a decent food option while in Hayward. It's easy comfort food, with a large enough menu that it's likely everyone in your party can find something to eat.

My family has been visiting Flat Creek for years largely because it's a reliable option.

This time around we were able to get a table without a wait away from most of the other guests -- a plus during these COVID times. We actually came here after many of the restaurants in downtown Hayward had long wait times.

I ordered a reuben sandwich, which was a filling lunch. The sweet potato fries were great to get on the side.

I also appreciate that they have a kids menu, with a coloring page as well. This helped entertain my son during our meal.

Our server was attentive and friendly.

I know we'll be back here several times in years to come.

The food was good and our waitress was amazing. But the manager is a strange lady that kept staring at our party from the kitchen and would walk by our table making comments about what I was wearing.

Very Slow service and the food was very mediocre. I think there should be better options somewhere else in Hayward

Great service ! Food came right away. The walleye cigar appetizer was very tasty and my shrimp Caesar salad was amazing !!!!

Huge shout out to Robyn & her incredible team for the amazing service and hospitality shown to our family at our family gathering this past weekend. The food was excellent and the overall service was the best -- you were beyond accommodating and we received numerous compliments on everything. Thank you!

Good place. They have one vegetarian dish I can eat - vegetarian calzone. Only thing I have found so far in this area. Service was fine. Ambiance good. My wife liked the fish in Friday special.

Great friendly staff. Great service. Great food. Nice place...worth the stop. Breakfast was delicious... corn beef hash with eggs over easy, waffles, and breakfast skillet.

Breakfast was average, nothing exemplary. Toast was heavily buttered by the kitchen. Eggs were good and waffle was the best.
