Z Salon
3 reviews for Z Salon
I had a decent cut there - nothing earth shattering but just how I liked it and the stylist was personable and really listened to me. It's a no-tipping salon which in some ways is nice but in others makes you feel cheap and dirty. It's great for the price - I only paid $25 for my cut and got similar experience in Nashville for $50 a cut.
The Aveda Salon thing has always driven me a bit crazy (no, I do not want to spend $60 on products today, thanks hough) but the service was great. I'm definitely going to go back again but I think I might branch out when I really want a change in my hair style. For now, it's perfect for keeping my current look updated without breaking the bank.
It's the Super K-mart of salons... huge and a little impersonal but their service menu is large and there is a range of prices since they use an experience level pricing system, like you'll find in other Aveda salons. Appointments can be hard to get depending on who you are tying to book with. If you aren't picky you can usually make a last minute appointment no problem.
One thing I can't get into is the "self styling station" which they send you to after a color appointment... stand there with four other patrons and vie for mirror space while you give yourself a blow-out. If I pay over $100 for a service the least they can do is dry my hair. This just lends to the "get-em-in-get-em-out" feel of this salon.
I gotta say, for the duration of my stint in Louisville I had GREAT experiences here. Tamica did an awesome job with my cuts and iron-outs and Larissa took care of all of my waxing needs. In fact, when I moved to LA everyone wanted to know where I got my hair cut. This was the only time in my entire life where I'd been able to get my hair done AND my waxes at the same place. Loved it.
