It's reliable and open pretty late.  I don't think anything on the menu is particularly good.  I usually avoid the meat dishes because I particularly dislike Chinese Tex-Mex chicken.

I have to admit, right off the bat, that I lived above this place for years. Those of you who live above establishments know that this impacts your judgement.

I was there before they opened, and this is the kind of place that lined their awning with festive "grand opening" colorful plastic flags. The triangular ones. You know what I'm talking about. Then they don't bother to take down the flags and eventually they all fall off or deteriorate or melt or something. I bet if you look closely, you would be able to see the plastic strip that once held them all together.

People like the cost, but look at the ingredients! I could open a can of beans and pour it onto some dough, charge you half what they do and still make a profit. I love tex mex, and I think there are many establishment at all price ranges that produce quality. This is not one of them. Though I guess if they invested in spices then they would have to raise their prices.

Ok, I'm from Texas. I have had extensive experience with every kind of Mexican food. And I have to say, this place is pretty good. It's open late, they deliver, the girl who takes your order is nice. But the food? They make their own tortillas, fresh, to order. Just for that they get MAJOR bonus points from me. I've never gotten any weird gristle in my chicken or steak, and the shrimp is always well cooked. I especially like the shrimp soft taco. No, there is nothing innovative or particularly authentic here, but I have stood and watched them make my order many times and it seems to me that they make good food from fresh ingredients of decent quality. They don't try to slip you gross meat or soggy lettuce. Not bad for cheap takeout.

This place is pretty good an American Chinese Tex-Mex restaurant only in America and only in New York City.  It sort of does not make sense to the brain.  But it is great.
But I am a Midwestern girl from the country hills of central Ohio what do I know.
The food is good.  It is convenient, right in the neighborhood, and close to other business, houses and apartments.  They even have delivery.
The food is very fresh and inexpensive. I have been here a few  times now.  I do love the homemade chips and salsa, or the guacamole chips.  They have get combo dishes, lunch and dinner specials.  So if you have a taste for Tex-Mex Chinese, then by all means try this place.

For some reason whenever my friends visit from San Francisco, of all the landmark restaurants in New York City, I always drag them to the bizarre ghetto-Asian-Mexican fusion that is Yummy Taco. Why do I take San Franciscans, with their huge Mission District burritos, to a place that puts pickles on their tostada salads and whose menu looks like a Chinese food menu with Mexican names? Because this place is bizarre. And cheap.

In the back there is one of those odd lit-up posters of NYC, only this one still has the trade towers (hello, how many years have you had to get rid of that?).
