One of the coolest candy stores I've ever seen.
Lots of stuff, pretty much anything you can imagine.
Right up the road from the Kittery Outlets. -

Have been going to Maine since I was a kid & NEVER stopped in Yummies, knew it was there but just always drove by... See it all the time on the Phantom but just still figured if I went in it would be SCARY!!!
Well we decided to stop the other day, I was with the Sister in law & my son... I figured let them have fun...
OMG - There is candy floor to ceiling... They have several old things you cant find (although they dont have the Bolster bar - hey its my last name I love them)!
They have Jelly Bellys in all the flavors that you can scoop on your own which is great, they have about 12,349 pez dispensers which caused quite the scene for my son when trying to get him to Leave the store...
They also have tons of little knick knacks & if you know me - I never turn down knick knacks... Magnets & Key chains, Shirts & Sweats...
Before long my basket was filled & I was psyched they took the card (over $5.00), walked out with all my Pear Jelly Bellys, some chocolate covered pretzels, way too many Chick-o-stix, pez, magnets & post cards & Charms... OMG - who remembers charms?? Love them! Spent over $50 but it was worth it as the whole group was very happy with all their little finds!
Will def be back this summer to try more homemade things they have, ooh forget about the Chocolate covered oreos and Air heads, got them too! Gonna get brittle next time! -
Review from Damien S.
Oh yeah, there's the roadside appeal. A concept even Paula Deen couldn't pass up (too soon?): "10,000lbs of candy and nuts!" "Old and hard-to-find sweets!" "0 of 5 dentists recommend us!"
Something like that.
Swing open that door, and get ready for a wonderland of... stacks? Winding aisles in a space smaller than you'd imagine flexing square after square of carefully packaged, evenly weighted sugar bombs. But that's it, and for some confusing reason, I was left slightly jaded by the entire experience. Candy belongs in bins, with shovels and disarray and chocolate waterfalls and juvenile anarchy and non-uniform displays. Instead, we have perfectly inventoried Mike & Ikes and rank & file Runts.
Almost every bag is $3, which makes budgeting your fatness pretty dang easy. The crazy shaped chocolates, on the other hand, are what they are: priced by funkiness, not weight. Why is the 4oz solid milk computer the same price as the 3oz milk aspirin? Is there no cocoa justice in this sucraverse?
Love the Pez wall, and the occasional throwback sweet. Once you've seen it though, jot down a check and move on to the next thing on your list. -

A must-stop on Route 1. It's always fun to take someone who's never been before and to watch the expression on his or her face. It's not cheap, but it's not too expensive either. I always check out the gummy candies and the chocolates; the dark chocolate-overed pretzels and the dark chocolate nonpariels are my favorites. My parents got a bunch of candy when we stopped here, and I bet that candy sustained them on their trip back to Ohio.
It's best to go here on the weekdays, when it's not as crowded. Even if there are only a couple of people there, though, it's still tight because the store is small and packed with candy.
I do wish they would take out some of the Maine souvenir stuff in the front and use that space either for roomier aisles or for more candy. I've never seen anyone looking at it, let alone buying it. -

I think my 5 year old daughter said it best when we walked in. "Oh My God, they have EVERYTHING! The 4 of us scampered up and down the packed aisles oohing & ahhing over all the ways we could satsify our sweet teeth. The staff was helpful when needed butt this place is PACKED & hard to manuever -- be prepared & bring a list;)
HAVE FUN! -

Wall to wall and floor to ceiling candy. Some that I have not seen since I was a kid. Only thing keeping it from five stars was the price. Not a discount store but not overpriced either. Staff is always helpful. Everything looks fresh and I expect inventory moves quickly. A nice stop while driving down the Maine coast.

This place was surprisingly well organized. Bonus points for having everything sanitarily pre-packaged. I thought I'd find more old school, hard to find candy that I'd forgotten about, but still it's like being a kid in a candy store. Geez, I'm lame sometimes.

One of the things that I have noticed about Yummies is that there are more adults there than kids!! Some prices are high, but you can't find this stuff anywhere else.
Every wall is stacked to the ceiling with stuff. Hard candy, Jelly Belly beans, various chocolate goodies, taffy, fudge, etc. They also have nuts and non-candy items like trail mix. They have a small section of old style candy bars, etc, such as Chuckles, Mallow Cups, etc. All fresh. Lots of salt water taffy, too. I picked up a small box of Marzipan last time. There is something for everyone, but your kids may notice there isn't a whole lot of "junky" kids candy.
I highly recommend the peanut butter cups and raspberry twists. 10 times better than Twizzlers. -

It's easy to go overboard with all the pretty candies wrapped in shiny plastic bags - there are so many choices, I had to circle the store multiple times to see it all. I made the mistake of grabbing a shopping basket, and found myself throwing in candies I had never really liked just because I remembered them from my childhood. After putting back some of the impulse buys, I ended up spending about $20 for about 2.5 lbs of candy. Kind of pricey.
One of the best ways to save at Yummies is to only buy the bulk candy, not the individually wrapped candies. A Cadbury egg was $0.99, and if you stalk the check out lines at supermarkets every spring until they arrive, you KNOW they're usually $0.50 each (sometimes even 3 for $1). Keep your wits about you, and don't let the sugar weave a blindfold in front of your eyes. -

This place is AMAZING. It's every kid's, and every big kid's, dream of a candy store -- not high-end gourmet chocolates kind of candy store but the stuff you loved as a kid kind of candy store. I have driven by it for years without bothering to stop. Don't make that mistake. It's cramped and over whelming in its selection. I got a list of what they have and made a list of what I wanted. I'd advise that as a strategy. Otherwise, you may want everything!

Are you still a kid at heart? Are you a great big immature cry baby little kid pooping your diaper? Sheesh I hope not! Well enough with the personal questions. Yummies has every kind of candy known to humanity. This place has candy from the floor to the ceiling. You can't even go in because there is too much candy overflowing out the door. You can only drool all over the windows looking at the candy so bring a squeegee to clean up after yourself you slob. The toilet is full of candy. They have giant gingerbread people working there. You can eat them if you are strong enough to subdue them and don't mind the screaming.
Get the picture?
I highly suggest bringing kids with you when you go because there is nothing funnier than watching young children freak the F out at the sight of EVERY kind of sweet in the world. They will want to buy everything in the store. If you say no they will try to stab you with a Pez dispenser, probably the one that looks like Jar Jar Binks from Star Wars because not even a kid cares if he breaks a Jar Jar Binks toy. I let the kids pick out everything they wanted for like an hour then pretended to forget my wallet back in Boston. The look of utter horror & shock on their faces reminded me of The movie Anne Frank when she thought the Nazi's had discovered her families hiding place.
Here is a fraction of what Yummies has:
Jelly Belly's of every flavor, Everything you can think of covered in chocolate including things you would never think of like chocolate covered orange peels (seriously) and giant palmetto bugs (JK), They even have chocolate covered chocolate which is ridiculous but who am I to judge, taffy, candy bars you thought were extinct like Zagnuts and Charleston Chews, Almond Bark, Butter Crunch, Taffy.....
You get it. EVERYTHING!!!!!!!
We were all so hopped up on sugar on the ride home I had to tie everyone up and put them in the trunk. The toll lady was like, " Who's screaming in the trunk?" I was like, " Shut up an mind your own business toll lady!"
It was truly a fun filled, exciting candy - licious day. Yum Yum YUMMIES!!!!
I ate all the Jelly Belly's Sorry! And ignore the Gingerbread cashier with no head. It too was Yummy!!!!!Listed in: My Ass Looks Good in These…

candy literally stacked floor to celing, kinda hard to even walk around the store there is so much candy.pretty cramped, dont bring a big pocketbook in here. and god forbid you bring kids in here- theyll want everything haha.
anything you could want or think of. their lemon drops are the best, my favorite ever, not to sweet, just perfect. even ordering online is awesome- they have wicked fast shipping ( at your doorstep in 24 hours wow) and never get the order wrong. a lot of nostalgic candy that i buy for my dad which he loves- candy he had as a kid thats hard to find now.
everytime i go in here i feel like a little kid again in a candy store. staff are very helpful with recommendations and efficient. love this place! you have to stop here! -

Crowded. So crowded that I couldn't make a purchase without waiting for over 15 minutes in line. I like Pop Rocks - but 15 minutes?

Still one of the coolest candy stores anyway and brings out the 8 year old in me, but the awesome looking peanut brittle near the front entrance turned out to be pretty lame - the "brittle" itself was too soft and mushy and tasted too buttery.
Bottom line: Pass on the peanut brittle but still thumbs up on the choc gummy bears.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Filled with so much candy you're liable to get diabetes by just looking at the place too long, Yummies is jammed floor to ceiling with delicious sugary goodness.
Prices are reasonable and the candy selection is immense. It gets extra points in my book because they are one of the extremely few places that still sell candy cigarettes in our overprotective day and age.
The place only gets four stars because it can get very crowded as there isn't much aisle space. -

The store that 10 out of 10 Dentist don't recommend to their patients...
However, I am a sugar addict and Yummies is the perfect score for your sweet tooth. I was on a day trip and caught the sign out of the side mirror of the car. I have heard about this place but thought it was just a myth like the tooth fairy, easter bunny and free beer tomorrow. I made a quick U-turn to make sure that Yummies wasn't just a mirage like water on the road during a hot summer day.
This store is small and busting at the seams with candy galore of yesterday, today and tomorrow. The candy comes in all shapes and sizes. It comes in big bags, small bags and single serves. Mary Janes? They have them. Chuckles? Them too! When you visit a store of this magnitude, price is no object until you get to the cashier and need to break out the plastic to cover your sugar hit. Don't worry they accept everything.
Yummies! My dentist thanks you for making his Corvette payment.... -

Yummies is like a dream come true. You can actually get candy cigarettes there which I think is hilarious - takes me back to my unsheltered childhood where we had no bike helmets and could easily smoke candy cigarettes! Such a fun place. It can get pricey as you walk though, but the selection is wide and the candy is yummy.

Yummies is the best place in the world to find the candy you want. I have been going to this place for years because of their selection and because they have the best gummies ever. Especially the gummy cherry bunches...they are orgasmic.
The store is on the far end of Kittery outlet road but is worth the extra gas to get there. Make sure you buy the Peanut butter cows too....another personal favorite. If you need candy stacked to the cieling and want your teeth to rot out of your head then go here cuz it's amazing -

Yummies is like a federal reserve vault for candies located on Route 1 just north of all the outlets. They have all sorts and types here from classic and forgotten treats through the modern stuff.
The inside is pretty small and can get uncomfortable crowded on weekends, but it's filled floor to ceiling with bags full of candies you didn't realize they made anymore, to ones you've forgotten about, with a small selection of cheesy tourist gifts.
Definately worth the stop if you're in Kittery! -

K. I know that most people have heard of Yummies from the Phantom because they have regular adds but this place is kinda the shizzy. Given that they kinda have a weir ad but they really do have a good selection of the sweet stuff.
For overall selection of candies this is one of the best stores that I know of. They have an insane amout of varieties from nougat to non pariel. They also have an extreme number of jelly beans.
It is worth note that to my knowledge most of the candies are not in house and they are mostly sold in bulk pack ($3+) but if there is something that you are looking for or if you have a sweet tooth you should enjoy this shop. -

This is a must go to if you are in the Kittery area or have some time to get there and enjoy this place.
The best place is that they have EVERYTHING you can imagine even the hard to find stuff. I am always so floored by the selection of gummies which are my favorite they have against an entire wall! And they have this kind of selection and variety for seemingly ever kind of candy. The staff is awesome and obviously enjoy their jobs, but then again how couldn't you enjoy working around that much candy and seeing adults and kids smiling all day?
I'm getting a craving just writing this. If you like candy this is the place to go! -

Pretty cool, they really do have hard to find candy in mass quantities. I was once asked to bring someone "a gummy bear the size of my face" and I found one at Yummies that was pretty darn close.

I've heard a ton about this place, usually because of the "Phantom Gourmet" tv show. And I very recently got the chance to visit. It's definitely cramped with tons of candy (of course) and a bunch of Maine souvenirs, but has just about anything you could possibly be looking for.
I definitely limited myself to just a few things because they didn't have what i was trying to find (bubble gum in a tube). But i can see how you could blow a lot of money in this place. -

I really don't know what to say about this place other than it is seriously overrated.
I was under the assumption that it would be a massive candy heaven, but it was utterly mediocre and in my honest opinion, a bit pricey (especially the chocolates). But I applaud them for their packaging methods. Putting everything in long plastic bags to give off the illusion you're getting your money's worth of stale goods is genius. -

Their tag line is "Over 10,000 lbs of candy on display". Seriously, it's floor to ceiling. No more needs to be said.

This place is a candy lover's paradise! I was instantly transported back to the days when I used to visit the penny candy store in my neighborhood and I would walk in with a dollar and walk out with a paper bag full of confectionary delights!
A definite trip down memory lane with candy I have not seen in years: Ice Cubes, Chocolate Cigarettes, Bubble Gum Cigars, Zots, candy buttons, Charms, Mallow Cups, flying saucer candies, and Turkish Delight, just to name a few of the blasts from the past. Lots of more recent candy confections too: Wonka Candy, Runts, Sour Patch Kids. You get the idea!
This place has something for everyone. My only criticism (and this is minor) is that you have to buy in bags, would be nice if there was a way to get a little something of everything and then go by weight rather than having to buy in quantity. -

Okay, so we finally made the trip to Maine in the late spring and as candy fans and particularly old fashioned candy fans we had to stop at Yummies. And I agree with all the reviewers, it was wonderful -- in terms of candy. And small and crowded and difficult to navigate. We were going a little overboard and buying too much candy until one of my older girls asked the owner a question and he was out and out rude. In general, at least on that day, he was talking not very nicely to the staff and was not friendly to the customers. My kids, who are all over 13 and not causing any trouble, then wanted to leave! I was surprised. We did put some things back, made our purchases and left, but the kids were bummed. It almost ruined our day, which had been quite nice up til then. My kids are used to The Candy Co. on Rte. 28 in Yarmouth, which has a little less candies, but still has lots of candy and a VERY nice experience with the staff whenever we go in there (once or twice a year).
To be honest, I might go back to Yummies one more time, but my kids still cringe and make snide comments when they see that owner's smiling face appear on the commercial during PG. Maybe he was just having a bad day that day, but I think if you are in a food service business, particularly in a tourist area, you are an ambassador of sorts for all the local businesses and in a way, your state. I think he should have stayed in the back of the store and eaten some of his candies til he sweetened up his attitude. -

Just have to stop in for my old tyme goodies or large quantities of sweets. Their nuts and chocolates are good, candies too. Not gourmet, but satisfying and at bulk prices. Lots to choose from. Even sugar free varieties. Some souvenir and t-shirt items as well. Great for holiday sweets shopping.

right next to portsmouth, kittery is kind of shitty. aside from a few cool seafood restaurants, yummies is the place to go!
soooooooo many candies. sooooo overstimulating. not too much candy from out of the country, but almost all candy made in the US and lots of like 1950s brands. its soooo much fun. i wanted to eat everything.
its definitely really neat in there, i maybe would have preferred it a little zanier in there. those people definitely run a tight ship.
candy selection = amazing. go there for candy!!!!! -

there is only word i can think to describe this place: insane
not only did my husband and i pick up an entire bag of candy cigarettes for $3, plus a box of illusive chocolate babies, plus chocolate covered rice krispies (delicious!), they even have "welcome to fabulous maine: what happens here stays here. but nothing ever really happens here" touristy shirts. fantastic!
if you think you've been to a candy store before, try this place and nothing will ever look the same again -

I seriously went to heaven and back when I entered this store for the first time. Yummies is filled with candy from ceiling to floor at mostly reasonable prices too. You can get huge ass bags of gummies and stuff for really cheap. The gourmet chocolate can be a bit pricy....but whatever. They have a lot of old time candy and also are candy that you can't find at many stores. Ooh and they have every flavor of licorace that you can imagine. Like I said, HEAVEN!

So much candy! You can find candies from your childhood here - candies they don't sell anywhere else. It's sort of magical. I haven't been in ages, I don't get up to Kittery much now that I don't live on the NH seacost anymore. But if you're in the area, it's worth stopping for. You will come out with the weirdest stuff, like wax lips with vampire fangs!

The great thing about this place is you can find all the weird and off beat candies that you can find no where else...Teaberry Gum anyone??? The only bummer a few of the candy oddities I bought were stale...But I still will go back, just seeing some of the wrappers makes me all nostalgic

With the North End Salem Street Milk Candy store now closed, I'll probably come up to here more often... or at least stock up more. Yummies of Maine is definitely the single most extensive candy store I have seen in New England. The aisles are tight and suffocate you with images of sugar, forcing you to either flee in terror or drown in delight. I get my fix of nostalgic candies here... like these delicious Joyva Sesame Crunches in my candy basket on my desk that's nearly empty (scheduled to go back up that way in 2 weeks). I also grab Squirrel Nut Zippers, Atomic Fireballs (though I have to be careful with those, I ended up physically burning the roof of my mouth on them) in both mini and regular sizes, and Haribo Gummy Peaches and Grapefruit. They only sell in relative bulk quantities, so it is not piecemeal like going to a Sweet Factory. I just have to remember to never buy milk chocolate because the days I come down, they tend to be... hot and sunny. At least bring a cooler for them...
Yummies has competitive (reasonable bulk, but not 'cheap') prices, a massive selection, and many local specialties, stocking lots of NECCO products, lobster pops, fudge. It is a dangerous place to bring children. The only things available 'piecemeal' are the individual truffles, fudge, and Jelly Bellies. There is also a massive selection of dried fruits/nuts, including large 5-pound bags of both domestic and Turkish pistachios. There is also a wall of Pez dispensers.
However, what you will not find are a lot of the regular commercially available candies such as 3 Musketeers, Snickers, Mars Bars, etc... or chocolates such as Valrhona (though I've seen Droste there in the past). I never really see anyone browse the more touristy stuff and people go straight for the candy in the back... I wonder why they keep that around... -

Hands down best candy store I have ever been to!
