I feel kinda bad for this place.... my GF and I came on saturday nite at 7:30pm and we were the only ones in the whole place.  I would have been hessistant to eat there, because usually no customers = crappy place... but i'm glad i read the reviews before coming here because we had a blast!

The service was A+++ (obviously because there was no one else in the restaraunt haha)

The sushi rolls were 50% off!

We ordered the dragon roll, spicy scallop, spicy tuna crunch roll and the spider roll... they were all delicious!  The fish was fresh and the rolls were made neatly and presently beautifully.

Overall, we loved this place... for excellent sushi at an affordable price, this place gets a rare 5 stars from me... thats why we were shocked that the place was completing empty on a saturday night, the people in poway must go to bed at 8pm or something!  haha

Wow, overrated.  It's really more of a 3.5 star place,  but definitely not a 4.

    The good:

The sushi is reallllly cheap.  I got a crunchy spicy tuna roll (normally 12 bucks at most places) and it was only $6.  Spicy california rolls were only $3.50.  Sushi was good, not mind blowing, but good.  They also had some imported Japanese soda (Kamune?) that was really tasty and when you open it you have to plop this glass marble down into the top part of the bottle which was kind of cool.

    The bad:

It was FREEZING in the restaurant.  You know how Starbucks keeps all their locations super cold so people don't hang around too long?  This was kind of like that.  I should have worn a polar fleece.

Service was very slow.  I think only 2 or 3 people work in the restaurant: the owner, a chef (the chef may be the owner), and the owner's wife (the server).  There was a decent number of people in the place, and with only 1 person serving, I think she was a bit overwhelmed.  Food also came out incredibly slowly.

The decor needs some help.  I don't know what it is, but somehow the inside of the restaurant just feels "unfinished".

I think Yume Cafe could bring themselves up to a 4 or a 5 with some work, but they aren't quite there yet.  Give them some time though, I think they're only been open for 6 months or so.

I will give Yume Cafe 4 stars because #1 Their food is good and #2 The prices are cheap.  Went on a Friday night there was one large group and 2 other tables of people.  The service was pretty slow yet friendly.  It appeared there was just one waitress and one person cooking the food.  What I really liked was that all the sushi rolls are half off.  California rolls at a dinner price are only 3.50 and large rolls like 5, 6 bucks. SO CHEAP!

The crunchy roll is really tasty as well as the spicy California roll.  The calamari for an appetizer seemed so-so...not the best flavor and texture.  But the sushi was really good.  Tried the "Ramune" the Japanese soft drink.  It was pretty good and comes in a cool glass bottle.

The restaurant was really clean.  Food is tasty but slow service.  I would definitely go back though again for the food and the great prices.

I haven't tried all their items yet, as this was my first time in, so I reserve the right to yield the final star.

As per usual this huntress of food good and low of impact to my wallet found this little gem after a day of doing serious work to da gloots (heh heh..ow) and was in need of a protein fix.

Yume Cafe is yummy - not inspirational, but quite yummy.  I don't know about you, but I do hesitate when the phrase contains sushi and some small inland town, and Poway does cause me pause when it comes to sushi.  Although there is "The Sushi Lounge"....but I digress.

Great wait staff, interesting decor, fresh fish.  knock off a star for colored maguro.     But wait - there is a happy hour.......dance - oh how I live for happy hours.

Hit it on Mondays or Tuesdays for 1/2 price sushi all day
(lunch closes out at 2:00pm, reopens at 5:00 for dinner)
    - yeah, I know the old saying about no sushi on Mondays...sokay, try Tuesday AND they'll have 25% off sake, beer and  wine during the week from 5:00 - 6:30.

I'll pop or drop a star later this month after the menu review is finished.  Doncha just love checking out new places?

    Cheers!!!!!

We have a group that goes out to dinner once a month, and July was my month to treat. I wanted to try something new, so I got on Yelp and put in a few nearby zip codes. The reviews were  pretty positive so I decided to try the Yume Cafe. The funny thing was that I was trying to think of where it was located and then realized it is next to the gym I go to everyday.  It's in a strip mall, and so I hadn't paid any attention to it.

food review,  we all ended up getting the Bento.  The miso soup was really good, then you have salad, then California rolls and tempura veggies.,all were yummy. Between the 7 of us, we had chicken teriyaki,  2 different Salmon dishes, and the sesame crusted Tuna. ALL of them were great.  We each tried a little of all of them).

We were stuffed!  AND with a bottle of wine and a few drinks the bill was still way reasonable!  I am definately going again soon. ( the pasta dishes look delicious)

My coworker goes out to eat ALL THE TIME. When he suggests that I should try a place, I trust his judgment. He didn't let me down. I try to go to Yume Cafe every other weekend or so if not more. It's clean and the people are friendly but the best part is the food is awesome... and inexpensive! I would go to this place no matter how expensive the sushi was. They serve good quality fish which you don't find at many places. I prefer sashimi which is a true test of the quality of the fish, in my opinion... and theirs never disappoints. They have a wide variety of food to choose from which makes it a great place to take friends and relatives who are visiting.

I highly recommend Yume Cafe, it may be a little out of the way but it's well worth the drive.

I've been to this restaurant 3 times in the last month and I'm coming back for more.  First off the serving staff is very friendly.  The second time I came in they already remembered me.  I haven't tried everything but here's the good stuff.  The Tonkatsu Ramen is really good.  The soup is not too salty with a somewhat creamy texture.  They put a couple thin slices of pork in it with just enough fat for flavor. The pork was extremely tender.  Next up is the Truffle Fries!  I think the fries are cooked in truffle oil and seasoned with salt, parmesian cheese and parsley.  It's really good. This and the Ramen will keep me coming back for more.  Lastly, the Tacoshimi. Seared ahi with wasabi cream sauce wrapped in flour tortillas. Fusion at it's finest.

I tried some of their sushi and although it was good, it didn't stand out as much as the aforementioned dishes.  This isn't going to stop me from giving them a 5/5 though.

My girlfriend and I decided to drop in for dinner before seeing Dark Knight on Friday and  were pleasantly surprised.  We were greeted by a very friendly hostess and our waiter attended to us almost immediately after we sat down.  I ordered a glass of their terrific Jadot Pinot to go with my Yaki Soba and wasn't disappointed with either choice.  Our server was exceptionally attentive and his recommendations (especially the strawberry crepe) really hit the mark.  You must try their truffle fries!

Yume Cafe's ordinary exterior belies a much nicer restaurant that is quickly becoming one of our favorites.  We're excited about the addition of a wine bar which we fully expect to have a great selection of delicious wines.

As an aside, I mentioned Yelp to our waiter and was able to show him the stellar reviews on my new iPhone.  We both got a kick out of it.

Starting up a new job in the area so had to go down to find a place to live. The company is paying for the relocation so the meal was entirely comped. I went on Yelp to find a place to eat and chose to trust Yelp with my life and with my decision. BEST DECISION EVER! Nothing fancy, it's a comfortable place to eat, but the quality of service and the food is better than 95% of your restaurants out there. Prices were cheap and I made sure to run up the bill. Started out with a Melon Cream Soda (if you've never tried this, it tastes like God's sweat with carbonation), then tried various dishes that the waitress recommended. I especially liked the Tacoshimi and the Beachcomber roll. Rolls were 50% off. Can't really beat anything about this place.

Definitely a place everyone near the Poway area should try out, if not just for the friendly service and the Tonkatsu Ramen.   A wide variety and high quality food, reasonable prices, friendly wait staff, and a pleasant environment to dine.   My parents are huge fans of this place, and have learned that the owner is extremely well-traveled and has acquired a knowledge of many different types of cuisines and wine (they also offer an extensive variety of wines).  I'd recommend trying the Tonkatsu Ramen (one of the best I've had), the Maui Sandwich, or any of their beef filet bento boxes.

One of my favorite restaurants.  They have everything that I want to eat; Sushi, steaks, tacos, pastas, ..!!   If you are new to this place, I recommend going there during happy hour.  All wines, beers, and Sake are 25% off, and their happy hour meals are really cheap yet tasty!

Also, I like their customer services.  They are not too pushy at all but always there for your needs.  The staff told us that they would be having a wine bar counter in the restaurant sometime soon.
    I can't wait!
