Everytime I eat here the place is empty, yet they've been open for years! So, although I'm fairly sure they are running Asian hookers out of the back I'm giving Yuk Wah a solid four stars. I usually opt for whichever special includes the most veggies, and have always been pleasantly surprised. Their dishes are fresh and hot and I always have more than enough for leftovers.

This is one of the best Chinese restaurants in Fremont, CA. This is a little hole in the wall place and don't expect some fancy place with unrealistic prices, but you can expect GREAT FOOD at GOOD PRICES.
Wow..was very surprised with the great food and fast delivery. I am not usually for chinese food delivered but the food was hot and delivered within 30 mins not to mention I didnt have to struggle to explain my order to the person on the phone. I am definetly going to be a repeat customer.
Nothing yucky about Yuk Wah! Don't come here expecting fine china and chandeliers--this place is about good food in a simple, unpretentious neighborhood restaurant setting in Fremont. Wonderfully crisp broccoli and carrots with prawns made my selection just great; balanced flavors in the veggie lo mein. And the appetizer of tempura eggplant really much much better than I expected--not over-battered, not greasy, and with a great garlic-y sauce!
I'm coming back again, for sure!

"THE BANG FOR YOUR BUCKS"
This place puts the meaning in that staement because the quality of the food and the price their asking is worth it.
Their lunch special includes their hot and sour soup, with two or three entree's for less than twenty dollars... and the portion size can feed a family of four!!! It's a family owned restaurant, so the owner nad her family is very generous and the waitress gives really good recommendation and is very talkative with good service.
The restaurant is kind of hidden when you drive there, and the interior might not look so great.... but when you try the food..... it's worth it.

I have been coming to Yuk-Wah for about 7 years now. Before coming to this restaurant I had gone to way over priced, yet great tasting Chinese restaurants... Although those places are very nice looking the prices do not compare. Not to mention the amount of GREAT tasting food you are given.
I probably meet someone at Yuk-Wah for dinner about 2-3 times a month. My best friend and I go and we are quickly greeted by smiling faces. The entire family that works at this establishment are kind and altogether GREAT people.
The pork fried rice, beef brocolli, hot and sour soup, vegetarian egg rolls and sweet and sour chicken are grrreat. :)
What can I say, as long as they are opened I will be coming back for more.
Also, whenever it is a rainy day we can call and as long as you order $20 worth of food they will deliver the food straight to your door for only $2 more! I LOVEE THIS PLACE. :]

Update: 10/4/06
I went again today and had the #4: broccoli chicken.
It was good. There were some flabby pieces of chicken, but the broccoli was nice and crisp and the sauce was good. It was some sort of garlic.
They had egg drop soup today and I liked that MUCH better than the other soup.
I'll up the rating to 3-1/2 stars.

This is an all right place, nothing spectacular.
I had orange chicken with steamed rice lunch special (under $5).
You could have fed three, maybe four, starving children with just the serving of rice on my plate.
The chicken was good for two servings.
I think I would have been happier if there were veggies in the meal. I might add a 1/2 point if that were true.
The spring roll was greasy but tasty.
The chicken was actually pretty good. There was a minimum of nasty flabby stuff. It was breaded, so you know it's not a health food.
The sweet and sour soup was too spicy for me.
The decor was stereotypical cheap Chinese food decor. Mirror tiles on one wall. Hand written special menus taped up all over the wall. Painted wooden screen right next to the entry door. They had a 13-inch TV playing "The Andy Griffith Show." I'm not sure if that was a plus or not...
The parking is all right, as long as you can find it. You need to go into the TINY alley next to the building and park behind the building.
I would be willing to eat here again, but only if someone else suggested it.

Mama, the owner, cashier, cook, and hostess, is great! I love the hot and sour soup and any entree! I like the quick service but don't like the gaudy furnishings. It is probably one of the better Chinese food places in Fremont! Mom, buy me food here! Thanks. -Matt
