The furniture at YLR is hit and miss. I've seen some nice end tables and chairs here. Not much in the way of sofas.
They are definitely willing to negotiate on price, especially on slow moving items. I got about 25% off an end table just by asking. There is an awesome set of four dining chairs I want there, but they're asking $1,200 each, which is absurd.

I'm not a bachelor, and I love a lot of the furniture here. There's a nice retro feel to a lot of it. Some of the furniture is very expensive, but we found some really affordable dining room chairs and counter stools. The showroom is great, but it's not all there is. You can order from many catalogs in the back (or get different colors of things in the showroom). If you do that, shipping takes a few weeks, so you don't get instant gratification. But you get exactly what you want.
UPDATE: This was a 4-star review, but I'm knocking stars off because "shipping takes a few weeks" is an understatement and customer service has been lacking.
I was supposed to get chairs in four weeks. It'd been five and I hadn't heard a peep from YLR (minus one star). So I call yesterday, and the guy tells me he has to check with the vendor and will call me back that afternoon.
Again, not a peep until I called again today to find out what was up (minus another star). The furniture is going to take another two weeks to arrive (minus another star).
I'd almost give back a star because the sales guy offered to let us borrow some chairs in the meantime. But, seriously, we've been without these chairs for five weeks. What difference is another two going to make? Don't you think we've figured out somewhere to sit by now?
I hate saying this, but I've never wished more that I'd skipped the local business and just ordered chairs from CB2 (whose customer service rocks, by the way). I'd cancel my order and do just that, but there are no refunds at YLR, only store credit, so I'm pretty much trapped.

YLR is super-overpriced, distasteful nasty bachelor pad-type furniture. Like 1998-era dotcom furniture. The type of women impressed by this stuff, I am not interested in.
If you have this kind of disposable income, you'd do much better by burning it at IF+D or Design Within Reach or something.

YLR has unique and zany bachelor pad / loft furniture at prices that will make you gasp. For me, that is the "museum" part of the store. If you wander past all of this with a straight face, perhaps appearing to genuinely contemplate spending $4K on a bed, you will get to some attractive, mass-produced furniture hidden in the back right of the store.
From this selection, I bought a bedroom set from the helpful, stylish salespeople. Their sale price (and they have frequent sales) was well below the price from any online furniture purveyor, with the bonuses of easy returns, some pieces in stock, Austin shopping karma, and no shipping fees.
Highly recommended for both the sane and insane decorator.

Your Living Room has some of the coolest furniture I have seen in Austin.
The store is sectioned off in places to create quasi-living rooms or bed rooms. The designs are very original, all in cool colors and fabrics. I found a suede sofa there that I will buy the second I become a rock star and have that kind of money to throw around. The coffee tables all have great character and could turn any living room into something special. The mirrors they had were unlike any other and there were many great lamps as well.
This place is high on quality and hipness, and they charge what the furniture is worth. It's a very fun place to window shop and dream, but most people I know I can't drop 2K on a sofa. If you can, that's great. Be sure to invite me over for coffee and show off your killer interior design skills.
