My husband and I love to eat at York St. Cafe for lunch on the weekends and occasionally for dinner. We also go sometimes just for dessert! The atmosphere and decorations are very authentic and interesting to look at. The restaurant has a romantic feel and is great for a date night.
You have to try their cakes! They are hand made every day with new selections each week. Their spice cakes are my favorite.
As for the main course, I love their Mediterranean wrap for lunch. They also have excellent hummus. Try their "dirty" hummus. It is a meal in itself!
For dinners, my husband and I will often get a cheese and fruit plate before our meal. We love their brie.
Everything is home made and you can really taste the love the owners and chefs put into their food.
I first came here not long after it opened. On a second visit I saw Lucy Kaplansky upstairs (1994) -- a great venue for music. Downstairs we have food, pretty damn good food in a delightful atmosphere. I've eaten here only about a dozen times in 12 years. Everyone I've dated here loved it.
Many don't expect a very good classy restaurant in these environs. A real delight.
York St has some of the best tastes, presentation and atmosphere in the Cincinnati-area. There are plenty of "upscale" places to eat in Cincinnati but many have the good-old-boy P&G feel. York St. has a great unpretentious and welcoming staff and atmosphere.
I highly recommend it as a date spot, especially when its warm out -- the patio is great. I've got to contribute some of my relationship with my fiancee to dates at York St.
Desert, wine and food, no matter what you choose, you'll find something extraordinary.
A great place to go. Funky decor and great food. Awesome desserts.
if this place could be rated on how much fun it is to look around, they'd have 5 stars. i love love loved all of the funky stuff surrounding you as you dine.
i got the catch of the day and it was OK. the sauce was excellent, but the fish itself (halibut) was meh. my friend who got the same thing didn't eat hers, she really disliked it.
the appetizers were good, especially the dirty hummus.
however, the waiter gets zero points. because he was so slow to even take our drink orders, and it took about 40 minutes for him to get our appetizer order in. and when he brought the apps out, we hadn't even ordered our main courses yet, so we had this jam packed table with menus everywhere and we couldn't shuffle the apps and plates around. we finally ASK him if we can order... hellllooooo..... and we're back on track. now i realize that this is kentucky, not new york, but i was so annoyed.
we managed to have a good time there and dinner was OK. i doubt i'd go again but it's not like it was a horrible experience.
