We had such a great stay here. My opinion is probably a little skewed given that my boyfriend actually proposed to me that weekend so I was sort of in love with everything. But in my defense we were here a whole 24 hours before he proposed and I was totally in love with our gorgeous room then, so its not all rose colored glasses. With a two person jacuzzi, a huge king sized bed, a fire place... it was romance all the way here.

We also had brunch in the restaurant the morning we checked out and the french toast was to die for.

This place was really romantic and the concierge was extremely helpful. All in all it was a wonderful part of our engagement weekend. Couldn't have asked for more.

There are several facets to this place.

Best-the bar in the basement. It reminds me of being in a ship. The fireplace is cozy and romantic - you won't hear the people acroos from you unless you want to and they might be nice. Food is consistently good.

Event planning - excellent.

Rooms - overpriced but nice.

There is no place to smoke a cigar there except outside which is foolish.

My husband and I stayed there in March and we are going to stay again in a week for 3 days. We rebooked our special room. We ate twice in the restaurant for our evening dinners when we went in March. I have to say the Chef there is talented. There was not a dish, app or dessert that was not good. I was impressed and I don't impress easily when it comes to food. We also enjoyed the breakfasts that went along with the room stay. It was nice enough and this is a special getaway for my husband and myself.

We stayed at the York Harbor Inn for a friend's wedding in December.  (Brrr, Maine in December.)  We paid a high price, so we were very dismayed at the size of our tiny room.  In order for my husband and I to both fit into it at the same time, at least one of us had to be in the bed!  :P  I don't know why they squeezed a queen-size bed into such a small room.  Even the bathroom was teeny.  It was very claustrophobic.

I am sure this is a lovely place to stay in the summer, with its central location.  The ocean view is beautiful.  The food is excellent.  The building is gorgeous from the outside.  The bridal suite, which I got to visit as a bridesmaid, was very nice.

But the small room really made our stay less than comfortable.  Thinking back, I suppose we should have complained.  Then again, some friends of ours had a similarly small room, and both had to sleep in a full-size bed instead of a queen...so maybe we were lucky?

I would definitely recommend the restaurant, which had great service and food...but if you'd like to stay in a hotel where you actually won't mind spending some time in your room, this may not be the place for you.

My husband and I ate here for our 7th anniversary during our Fall 08 Foliage Tour. I'd driven by this quaint inn about a hundred times since 1987, but had never eaten there before. I had high expectations of a wonderful, romantic meal.

The service was great. The ambiance was beautiful; we enjoyed a window seat with a partial ocean view.  All of that is defintely 5-star.

But the food was disappointing. My Filet Mignon was not memorable, just OK. The squash was incredible, though!  My husband did enjoy his Seafood Ravioli.

Per our waitresses recommendation, we tried the Indian Pudding (I believe that's what it was called). I'm not big on molasses so it didn't quite work for me. There was a pound cake in it, along with corn meal mush and then the molasses. It had a sweet and salty thing going on. My husband finished it off!

Overall, it was a lovely place to be together and enjoy the view, but the food - espeically for the prices - fell short of what we were hoping for.

Due to a possible relocation and having small children, my family checks the sex registry to ensure we are moving to a decent neighborhood.
Imagine my surprise when not 1 but 2 recent registered sex offenders list this motel as their place of employment.
Although I hadn't considered staying here, I wonder how many unsuspecting parents might unknowingly be putting their children into harms way.

Nice place for a short trip or weekend getaway.
You can hear the ocean from the room ... so nice...

Don't miss the restaurant and bar when you are there!
Awesome food ... I had seafood raviolis ... tons of lobster and shrimp on top ... I could hardly see the raviolis at the bottom ... most important... very delicious.   don't worry.... it's not pricey if you look at what you get ....
Appetizers were great too.... wine was nice!

After dinner.... don't forget to head downstairs to the bar  ... very cool ... the whole place looks like a ship.

They have live music at night too (ugh.... it was a Saturday night when I was there!)

This large, colonial home overlooking the ocean, serves bed, breakfast and beyond.  I'm a foodie, so, I'm rating their brunch and not their mattresses or maid service.  That being said, they have the most decadent french toast ever.  It's a thoughtful consideration with French bread sliced on the diagonal, soaked in a mixture of eggs, cream and cinnamon, grilled to perfection, sprinkled with slivered almonds, sliced strawberries, freshly whipped cream and a silver "shot glass" of real maple syrup.

Oh, for the love of goddess, stop salivating, put on your freshest digs and GO!

Update 4/13/08:  While they did a splendid job redecorating the dining room from sweet, country cottage to Laura Ashley's older brother Leonard Ashley's feel, the food has suffered.  I can and do make better French toast at home.  The pieces were scrawny in comparison to the old serving and drier ( not soaked in the egg mixture long enough).  The green apple and brie omlet would improve, if the apple skin was removed.  While the apple just about melted in your mouth, the skin was tough and chewy.  The award winning seafood chowder earned a solid MEH (3 stars).  Your view has always been wonderful, but with so much public access to the beach, it's not necessary to look at from inside your windows.  Bring back your old chef, because today, you lost me.

P.S.  The tray ceilings and recessed lighting are a wonderful improvement.  You should have leveled your slanting floor while you were making improvements.

I celebrated my birthday in the pub a year or two ago.  They'd run out of prime rib :(  , but they still had champagne and cr. brulee. :)  The live folk singer idea can be kind of sketchy, but whatcha gonna do?

One day, I'll ask to see what the views are like and maybe stay if they're exceptional.   I'm pretty sure I want to hear the waves, though,  if I'm paying to sleep that close to the ocean!
