Hands down the best part was that this place was not only clean, but they had cupcake fro-yo! (which is by far my fav currently)
It was a nice hot 84* San Mateo day, and after a long bike ride, and treating myself to a new pair of cycling sunglasses at Talbot's what better way to cap the afternoon off then cooling down with a tasty cup of fro-yo!
The ladies working the register were uber friendly and served with a smile. I love the fact that there is more than 1 person working here. Cleaning the table after each visitor was a great nod to a germaphobe like me.
I want to try a couple of other places around the neighborhood, but I'm sure I'll be back here to get my cupcake fro-yo fix soon. -

Eh.. unimpressed. Funky tasting yogurt and poor service.
Husband and I dropped by here a few weeks ago not having been before we decided to ask for some samples, I usually stick to sampling just the 2 as I don't like to appear greedy and they serve the sample for you here.
I asked to sample the Mint Cookies and Strawberry Shortcake while hubby asked to try the Dulce de leche and Strawberry Shortcake. How cheap is it that when it came to our sample of the Strawberry Shortcake we were given ONE to share??!
Hubbydidn't like either so decided to not get any but me being set on getting some I went ahead with filling a cup (http://www.yelp.com/bi...).
Flavors:
* Thin Mint Cookies- The best of the lot but by no means great. Light flavor, kinda icy.
* Blueberry Cheesecake - Just tasted like blueberry with no cheesecake flavor at all.
* I then got some Orange flavor by mistake which was just nasty! It was icy with gritty bits in and tasted like Oranges gone bad.
They have various toppings including mixed fruits and Boba (http://www.yelp.com/bi...), Nuts & Cereals (http://www.yelp.com/bi...), Candies and Jellies (http://www.yelp.com/bi...) and various sauces.
There's a small amount of seating inside and is either 35 or 39c an ounce.. I can't remember now.
Bad yogurt and I won't be back. Especially as Yogurtland is due to open up just down the road this month!!Listed in: Frozen Yummies

Went here after dinner in Red Crawfish.
Tart tasted like cardboard.
Consistency is not bad, creamy compared to other places that serve icy froyo.
There's places to sit and seems like not much yogurt spots here anymore. So a good choice. -

So I've been here twice and and I have to say I have rather mixed opinions of this place. Service wise, I think they're fairly friendly and a tad more sociable than most Fro-Yo places. The establishment itself is also very clean, trendy, and well lit. And location wise, it is in fairly close walking distance to central downtown San Mateo just off of B St.
This place is self serve. So you can pour your own yogurt and add your own toppings to your heart's content. The toppings range from candy (gummies, sour candy, M&Ms, etc..) to fresh fruit. They charge by the ounce so price is dictated by your sweet tooth. The first time a friend paid for me, and the second time I went, my cup came out to $3.30. So I'm assuming that is the average price.
The first time I was here, I got the strawberry tart yogurt and that tasted pretty good. The funny thing however was that my friend got the exact same thing and she really did not like the taste. It could have been the mass overload of gummies that I threw into my cup that masked the actual taste of the yogurt. The second time that I was here however, I got the mango tart yogurt and went lite on the gummy candies. And the yogurt tasted awful! I'm not quite sure how to describe it, but it tasted like rotten fruit with a hint of mango flavor.
They say third times a charm so I might one day come back here to try a different flavor. However I don't think I'll be recommending this place to anyone anytime soon. -

Another great yogurt place. They also have stampt just make you pay more than $3.
Some highlights include: fudge heated right there and many more syrups than I normally see such as nutella. -

Oh so yummy!!
Flavors to try:
Vanilla (Im not kidding, its amazing)
Raspberry Sorbet
Passion Fruit
Their mango is not so great (kind of tastes like a cough drop).
Now onto the toppings: BEST ever.
Cinnamon Toast Crunch (yes the cereal) -- remember when you were a kid and used to use it as a topping?
a bunch a fresh fruit options
**BUT** the BESTT topping of all: Lychee Balls. I have no idea what they are even made of, but you bite into them and this flavor of Lyceee explodes in your mouth. Pair it with the Raspberry Sorbet and you have a party in your mouth. -
Review from Leslie P.
The yogurt here is on the creamier side, which isn't my favorite. They are a bit limited on flavours. The night we came, they had 8 flavours. We got a little bit of the raspberry cheesecake, pineapple coconut, mango, strawberry shortcake and original tart froyos. The pineapple coconut and strawberry shortcake were bad, and the others were only okay.
The fruits were fresh, and the mochi was nice & soft. We had 3 cups of froyo for a total of ~$6. I'm not sure how much it was per ounce, but it seemed a bit cheaper than other businesses. Our cups were pretty full. -
Review from Vb L.
Strawberry Shortcake, creamy chocolate, raspberry layer cake and vanilla were my flavors and they were all really good. They have a few little chairs outside and I happily sat in the sun, watching the nice people stroll by and thoroughly enjoying the delicious yogurt. They also have a doggie mat and water bowl which is a BIG A+ in my book. So far, I think Yogurtouille is my favorite yogurt place downtown. Good selection, outdoor chairs and a little something for my pooch.
TIP: They have no sugar yogurt too!Listed in: San Mateo's Finest for Vicky…

After a meal like the super spicy hot pot from Little Sheep down the street and around the corner. you know what is the best after dessert? FROYO!
After our dinner meal, I vaguely heard a suggestion for something sweet. Quickly take out my iPhone from the pocket, in mere minutes, I have found the closest froyo/ice cream.
Pretty much like all other froyo, which has the self serve yogurt machine and the topping buffet; the difference, I can get fresh (reads: canned) lychee, and pop balls of different flavors. The fried egg gummy was kinda cool. I totally got one on mine. Nothing says top notch Froyo like a sunny side up on top of it all. Another thing if you come to this Yogurtouille, pretty much all the yogurt flavors are the tangy kind like Pineapple or Strawberry, and barely have any sweet one except for the pure vanilla
The service at this place, however, was very lackluster. The girl was totally on her cellphone texting away the entire time; I would ask the guy some question, but he totally tuned me out on that iPod of his. Then again, it is a self-service, so I supposed the service is as good as I can make it to be. So I give would generally give 5 stars for Froyo, but I dock one star nonexistence service, and dock another one for the flavor of yogurts offered. -

Open late on Sundays. Basic flavors. Nothing too inspired. Good selection of toppings.
We strolled over in our pajamas. You can do that there. -

The blueberry yogurt was very refreshing! But the place is not much different from other froyo places that sell yogurt by the ounce. I would come back here when I'm in the area.

2 of my sons have gluten and dairy allergies. They love this place! There's always been a choice of flavors for them and they love that they can add toppings. My youngest has just gone through a 'not liking cold food' phase too but would still happily have a miniscule dollop of sorbet with oodles of topping :)

Decent froyo, but I just have a thing for Yogurtland taro... Though I like being able to mix it up w/ some green tea, that's tasty.

This is another one of those self-serve yogurt shops, but with fairly limited choice of flavors and garnish. Since I always eat only 2 or 3 flavors without any garnish anyway, this didn't bother me a bit. When the cashier rang me up and said it's $2.31, I thought she made a mistake as it would normally be about $4 or 5 anywhere else. The service person (who was really nice) assured me it was not a mistake. A great surprise!!
While I had slightly creamier, better tasting yogurt at other places, I really enjoyed my light non-fat delightful dessert thoroughly. This is a great spot to come for dessert any time when you're in San Mateo. -

What separates Yogurtouille from every other self-serve FroYo joint?
1) You can't pronounce the name correctly.
2) The French Vanilla frozen yogurt tastes really good, it's very similar to Hagen Daz, but not as sweet.
3) They found a way to screw up the flavor of original tart frozen yogurt. I don't know how you could make original tart taste not tart, but Yougurtouille figured it out. They also figured out how to take frozen yogurt mix and have it come out tasting like bland lipstick.
It was, admittedly, an original flavor. But then so is battery acid.
Go to Yogurtouille for the French Vanilla. Never taste the original tart. The French Vanilla is really good, good enough to make you think every other flavor must be good too.
They're not. -
Review from Sonia M.
This is your standard self-serve frozen yogurt shop, complete with a very varied toppings bar.
The texture of the yogurt here is a bit fluffier and airier than most chain yogurt places, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Actually, I welcomed the changed in texture, because, why not? Also, $0.35 an ounce is a pretty low cost compared to many of the chains.
I *think* there are 8 different flavors at a time, with a decent mix of sweet and tart flavors. We came on a Saturday night, and it was pretty busy, but not chaotically so. If I lived closer by, I could see myself coming more often. -

They have MINT froyo. I didn't even know this flavor existed anywhere in froyo form but now that I know, I'm in trouble.
Topping selection is smaller than Nubi Yogurt and I do wish there were lids on them so things don't get mixed up. I also wish that you could sample the flavors before committing. Workers were friendly enough, and the price is a bit lower than other froyo places. -

I agree with Hosun's assessment of the original tart flavor. WTF? How do you mess up the one thing that's supposed to be good at a new FroYo place? It tastes like newly pumped cow's milk (and if you've ever been to a dairy farm, you know that smell).
I tried the original (ew) and the mango tart (which I ordered). Meh. It was much creamier and sweeter than a tart froyo should be.
One extra star for their toppings and cleanliness. -

I love this place. It's downtown, has good fat free yogurt flavors and you put your own toppings on. They have a good selection of junk and of fruit.
When I started going there, they had green tea. I haven't seen it recently but can always find a yummy flavor to try and then cover it with fruit. -

Really like the tangy yogart at this place. Cups are huge and can easily be overfilled with goodies to put on top (including chocolate, sour candy, cereal, cookies, tapioca and many other unrecognizable treats).

I've been sucked into the whole fro-yo craze. It's just so damn attractive: the shops are all bright and colorful, they smell like citrus, and you have SO MANY choices!
I usually spend just under $3 for a cup. Call me boring, but I love the original tart flavor. Although they also carry chocolate, pineapple, pumpkin and a number of other flavors (10 in all). As for toppings, you can choose a variety of seasonal fruits, dry toppings (oreos, nuts, coconut, etc) and SIX different kinds of sprinkles.
They even have dinosaur shaped sprinkles. Is it so bad that I wanted dinosaur sprinkles?
*hangs head in shame*
Oh...and the toppings!
Caramel, marshmallow, peanut butter, chocolate - they even have a hot fudge machine.
So dangerous.Listed in: Creamy Crack!

My mom and I went to Yogurtouille to get some frozen yogurt before a movie and we were both disappointed.
First of all, there aren't a whole bunch of choices as far as flavors are concerned. I think there were eight and they all seemed pretty "ehh...," so much so that we both ended up getting plain ol' vanilla and chocolate.
Secondly, they don't give out cups of water. At a yogurt place. I mean, I don't consider myself a cheap person, but really? You're going to make me buy a bottle? What eating place doesn't give out at least little cups of water, especially one that serves desserts?
In any case, there are plenty of places that serve frozen yogurt in San Mateo, so we'll probably be supporting those places instead of Yogurtouille. -

I can't say this place was the best, I've been to so many.
It just really tasted artificial with the fruit flavors and had a really odd texture.
Can't say we'll stop by here again. -

I love Yogurtouille. I like frozen yogurt - that is, frozen yogurt thats made from god knows what (a powdered mix, I imagine) and a ton of sugar and absolutely nothing healthy about it - not the tart, or organic, or real yogurt places that most frozen yogurt shops now sell. If I wanted real yogurt I would go buy a yogurt. If I want frozen yogurt I want a desert. Anyway, enough with the rant.
I like that this place has a selection of flavors that changes, and that you dispense your own yogurt so you can decide exactly how much you want and mix whatever flavors you want. Also theres an all-you-can-pour topping bar with tons of options (candys, nuts, chocolates, fruit, granola, etc). And its cheap. Its open later than a lot of places in san mateo, though I wish it was open a little later. -

I find it strange that I can't sample flavors myself. I totally get that the business owner is trying to avoid customers who 'taste and ditch' but it makes me feel untrustworthy! lol.
This store has very limited selection of flavors and an even smaller selection of good flavors but I have to say that the pistachio flavored fro-yo is really delicious! Chocolate is my other favorite flavor here. And, I do love that the fro-yo is chilled to perfection because it doesn't melt that quickly.
However, I don't recommend the tart flavors. If you are expecting Pinkberry or Red Mango, you will NOT like the tart flavors here. Very artificial tasting. -

I would say probably 2nd or 3rd on my list of favorite froyo places.
My tops are still Yogurtland and Tuttimelon, Nubi probably dropped to 4th.
Anyways the nitty gritty. I finished a delicious meal at ramen dojo, and was hankering for some sweets. Low and behold I remembered a froyo place on the drive there. So after a semi long walk I think it was 5 blocks and some whining from the misses, we were deliciously rewarded.
I tried their Cococnut Strawberry (not too shabby), Lychee hmmmm, and Mango. Their mango was awesome it had little flakes of mango in it, and yes that airy texture was awesome. It does come a little slower out of the machine though. The workers were friendly. The toppings extremely interesting they have they lychee and mango balls that are sort of like salmon eggs/roe if you've ever eaten the sushi. Not too shabby and satisfying especially at a decent $0.35 cents an ounce. -

I'll admit, I'm a little bias when I eat frozen yogurt up here because I live in San Diego now and there is so many good froyo shops down there.
I came in with my friends after dinner for some dessert. I don't know if it was a smart choice considering that it is winter, but apparently a lot of other people had the same idea, for the place actually started filling up.
I asked for a sample cup and she asked me what flavor I wanted and filled my sample cup for me. I was use to filling it up myself and taking my time to decide which flavors I wanted to try.
I love lemonade so I decided to try their new pomegrante lemonade. It was pretty good, but not as tart or flavorful as I had liked and it had more of a yogurty taste instead of fruity. Not feeling fruity at the moment, I decided to just go with basic vanilla, for there wasn't a lot of options to choose from (8-10 i think?) I put on some toppings and liked that they had some pretty unique toppings like wafers and dinosaur sprinkles which were kind of cool.
It tasted what I expected but what I disliked was how sharp their spoons are! Yeah, those little plastic spoons that they give with your yogurt are really sharp. Be careful when you eat. It makes it a little less satisfying knowing that you cut your tongue a little bit every time you take a bite.
The pro is that it is self serve and you can get as much as you want anbd whatever you want and however you want it (but you pay for what you get) and the con would definately be the SHARP SPOONS, the limited selection, and how it is 5 cents more per an ounce more than what i usually pay for AND there is no coupon that i could use... but like i said, I'm a little biased... -

This used to be my go-to Yogurt place that I'd crave like crack at least once a week (eh, who am I kidding. This is still my go-to yogurt place, and I've never done crack).
But now, my heart is filled with weepy sad violin music a majority of the times I enter Yogurtouille.
::::: cue wailing strings::::: WIll they EVER bring back their glorious green tea yogurt?! Will the toppings bar ever be graced with almond rocha or Butterfinger again??? ::::::crescendo, forte, vibrato, fade out::::::
I don't know if this place has just hit a lull over the past few months, but I sincerely hope they bring their A-game back soon.
For now, I'll still continue to send my husband on impromptu YT runs. And I will begrudgingly eat my chocolate yogurt with crushed Oreos (while dreaming of green tea and almond rocha). -

I started dieting, so I can't eat ice cream, so my hubby suggested fro yo, I thought why not. I was pleasantly surprised, it was really good. I really liked the marshmallow fro yo and Hawaiian delight. Yummy!!! Prices are reasonable, parking can be tough at times as it is downtown. Staff/service was friendly!!!!

The yogurt craze keeps chugging on. I have to admit I've not been here since they opened but I remember having a pretty good swatch of flavors. Maybe one of the first of the self serve experiences I've had and you get as little or as much as you want which is nice. For me taro and green tea is the way to go

I have to say, I haven't been here in well over a year. Coincidence led me back tonight. Almost 10pm on a weeknight in this economy and the place is packed. They must be doing something right.
A dozen or so flavors were available, and I tried about eight different ones. The only misses were taro -- way too taro tasting, cloying -- and green tea -- a bit too bitter matcha tasting, could be smoother. Cappuccino was nice: burnt, strong coffee flavor, not too sweet. Mango Tart and Mango Sorbet were decent, if a bit too close in taste.
Why five stars? The Original Tart is still stellar. Zero iciness, tart but not artificially tasting, and a strong yogurt, not butter or watery or organic "grassy", flavor. So good, I actually paused at the end of the cup and tried to remember a better original tart from somewhere else. Couldn't think of any.1 Previous Review: Show all »

You can never go wrong with Yogurtouille. The bf is absolutely obsessed. He wants to go there basically every night. So... we do. I love it, always hits the spot. I love trying the different flavors they offer. Seems to be cheaper than other yogurt shops. Sometimes it's a little too crowded, but that's because it's so good! And it's walking distance to the house so we love stopping by on the way home from dinner and enjoying it on the walk home.

This was a must go for a non-Californian like me, we just don't have the same thing in Chicago! The pop balls and fresh fruit toppings are awesome and the froyo was an execellent consistency of smooth and crispness. Mmmm....more pop balls, please! Hehehehe...

I love to eat frozen yogurt! The frozen yogurt sold at Yogurtouille is quite good and very satisfying. The consistency of the frozen yogurt sold here is not too sweet or too tartly. The fact that this place is self-serve and 35 cent/ounce (including toppings) means I can try a little of all the flavors available (approximately 8) and decide which one I like best!

I arrived later than usual to the YEE at AcquaPazza last weekend and hit the booze immediately. Since I hardly ever make it out to San Mateo, I decided to fore-go lunch and head straight for dessert after the YEE was over. With froyo always on my mind as a meal alternative, I chose to visit Yogurtoille based on its numerous reviews.
Having good standards for froyo, I went to Yogurtoille with high expectations. The shop was petite and cold inside. It had typical brightly colored walls, a few tables with chairs, and some other bar stools and counter facing the street. I noticed when I walked in; the cashier promptly greeted the person behind me without acknowledging me at all. There were two paper cup sizes before you hit the machines. The sign above the cups said 35 cents an ounce. I saw a few usual flavors and one unique one; Cupcake.
I chose 4 flavors
*Green tea: lite flavor
*Espresso: more like coffee with milk
*Mango tart: tart yes, mango yes
*Cupcake: It did taste like a cupcake with frosting; really unique
Toppings
*Mochi: White, nothing special mildly stale and chewy
The final bill came to $.35 x 9.5 oz = $3.54 (tax included)
When dispensing the yogurt from the machines, I noticed larger spouts than normal. Larger spouts are not good because they dispense too much air and they give out a popping/farting sound. It could've been the mixture, but I think it was due to the spout. Normally, froyo streams out dense and the center was dense, but the outer layer was inconsistent. It didn't take too much of each to fill a cup full with the large spouts.
Overall, the flavor was standard, texture was too creamy, and presentation out of the dispenser needs improvement unless it's their intention to do it that way.
There's plenty of froyo shops in the vicinity, so I don't think I'll be back. -

Ugh maybe I'm just in a grumpy mood, but ugh. I tend to have a soft spot for my self serve yogurt spots, so I entered the store with an open heart and an excited stomach. I also liked the name. Mmm I love me some ratatouille.
Anyway, I generally stick with the tart yogurts because that's my thang. However, I'm glad that in this case I sampled a bit of it before I got it. Ugh. Ugh. That was not plain tart, it tasted like sad.
Needless to say, I went with the sweet flavors. I tried the strawberry cheesecake, which tasted more like plain strawberry yogurt than anything else. I mean it was a decent strawberry yogurt, but I would have been happier if I could taste the cheesecake part. I also got the French Vanilla. It was okay. Nothing spectacular.
They had some good toppings though. I loaded up on some almond roca. Mmmm. And at $.35/ounce, it's pretty affordable. -

Great self-serve yogurt place. This is our go to place on a lazy weekend afternoon.
One star off for the some time rude staff.
