This place is awesome!  This is one of those "old-fashioned" yogurt shops where you get great, straight-forward fro yo, without the pretence of those newer trendy yogurt shops where you're given 2-3 choices in flavors, only healthy options and smaller portions (lame!).  While I realize that yogurt is healthy, it should also be fun and that's what makes Yogurt Park so cool.  You get 6 - 8 flavor options with a ton of toppings to choose from (they have healthy and "fun").

To top it all off, they also give you ginormous portions!  A small is actually a large, so be warned!

An unnamed yelper has been continuously teasing me that I haven't been to Yogurt Park yet. Well, guess what? "I've finally made it...happy now?

No relations to the alternative rock band: Linkin Park, this Frozen yogurt place has been around since Gerald Ford was our president and one of many favorite hangouts for UC Berkeley students. These hard-working students are trying so hard to be a future Nobel laureates or any related field of studies deserves such a treat.

But you certainly don't have to be a UC student to eat a frozen yogurt in Berkeley. They have six available flavors. I had the low fat French Vanilla in a small five ounce cup. For $2.75, you get a pretty good size serving. The frozen yogurt tastes more like Yumi Yogurt from the Peninsula: thick, sweet and creamy. No mochi balls at this location, but for an additional $.65, I got chopped Reese's cups as my lone topping.  The friendly lady must've known I'm a fro-yo connoisseur, because she gave me a mountains-size serving of frozen-yogurt and a heaping scoop of the topping. She isn't shy to pack my treat.
http://www.yelp.com/bi...

I paid my treat in cash, assumingly that is all they accept. This is not a big place with a few benches on the side. I enjoyed my treat in my car on the Durant Avenue strip.

Yogurt Park was my first fro-yo love. I never like frozen yogurt until I came here.. and it is amazing. There was a summer when I was in school where I kid you not, I went every single day. Scary...

The portions are awesome (a mini is more than enough), the prices are good.. the toppings are generous (they dig a little hole for toppings in the middle, and then add MORE on top!!!), and the flavors are awesome. The oreo, mounds, and chocolate are my favorites. If you're feeling particularly indulgent - go for the oreo shake. OMG YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT! Frozen yogurt, oreo cookies, chocolate fudge, more oreo cookies!!! If you can get it on a day they have oreo yogurt you will be in SHAKE HEAVEN. my mouth is watering.

Fro-yo girl here.  This is where it all started - the place that fro-yo girl had her very first taste of frozen yogurt.  It happened during a middle school trip and I remember ordering a vanilla frozen yogurt with Peanut M&Ms.  The yogurt came in a huge Styrofoam cup with a long handled spoon.  The size surprised me.  I couldn't finish it but it was sooooo good.  I ate so much fro-yo that I felt sick (yes, that still happens to me  - in fact, it happened again at Yogurt Park and other places).

Yogurt Park is such an institution (celebrating 30 years) that it's painful to only give them four stars.  The prices are so cheap ($2.50 for a mini - 6 oz., $2.80 for a small - 12 oz., $3 for a large - 16 oz.), they let you choose more than one flavor, and the cups of fat-free yogurt are large - this is the way to a fro-yo lover's heart.  They serve up six flavors a day (call 549-0570 for today's flavors), they're open from 11AM - midnight, and toppings (cookies, candy, sprinkles, chips, nuts, granola) are only 65 cents.  Wow.  I even like the wooden benches inside the shop - somehow they make you feel like you're sitting on a park bench with your fro-yo.

During my visit the flavors were:
* Black raspberry
* Rocky road
* Ghiradelli chocolate
* French vanilla
* Tart/natural (no mochi balls, no fresh fruit, they had strawberries but they were sitting in syrup)
* Caramel macadamia

Please get a mini because it is large enough to satisfy most people.  I saw one man order a large (a regular - they knew him) and I was frightened for him.

Now for the painful part of the review.  I tried the French Vanilla and the Natural/tart flavors.  They were similar in texture - thick, dense, stiff and extra creamy.  The tart yogurt had no refreshing icy quality and little flavor (I'd say pass on it unless you really want to try every tart fro-yo out there.  Go to Yogurt Harmony for tart fro-yo.  If I were to review the tart fro-yo alone, they would get two stars and one star is for being generous.); it's the worst tart fro-yo in Berkeley.  The French vanilla flavor was decent but Yumi Yogurt has better vanilla fro-yo (because it has a stronger vanilla flavor).  There I said it.  The world didn't end but I feel awful.  Do I still love Yogurt Park?  Yes.

You know you love me.  X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

i honestly don't give a shit about frozen yogurt.

HOWEVER, there is an exception when you want fat thighs and a jiggly butt...in the form of an Oreo shake with fudge sauce, chocolate yogurt, and MORE Oreos than you can stuff in a 5 year-old's face.

FATTIES UNITE!

Sorry, Yogurt Park.  I wanted to love you.  I really did.  I broke up with you time after time, only to return for another visit in the hopes that I would find within you the glorious yogurt that everyone kept telling me about.  But I can't take the disappointment and the heartbreak any more, and I've finally realized the truth.  It's not me; it's you.

This place's yogurt just isn't anything special.  The fruit flavors would do better in a light sorbet than mixed in with all that dairy.  Even drinking Yogurt Park's yogurt in milkshake form did not redeem it.

Plus one star for the classic park bench inside and for the large servings (a mini is equivalent to a small or even a medium at some other ice cream stores), but then again, because it's Yogurt Park yogurt, this just means a generous helping of mediocrity.  Service is hit-or-miss; sometimes the workers are very nice, while at other times they clearly don't want to be there.

Conclusion: "Meh.  I've experienced better."  Why would anyone go to Yogurt Park on Telegraph when Ici on College Avenue is just a mile away?

I forget how good frozen yogurt is...especially on my birthday after spending a day in the sun and warm summer weather! The tasting samples are *genius*. Although, I wish they offered a half-size of the Mini...but I usually can finish it anyways.

I like nuts on my frozen yogurt (stop laughing). Peanuts, almonds, walnuts - good stuff. And I've found that fro-yo shops differ in how they offer up their nuts (it's not funny) - usually chopped up or diced or sliced, tough to screw up.

One combination I keep going back to is chocolate frozen yogurt with peanuts (ooooooh so tasty, like a more subtle version of the classic chocolate-peanut-butter combo). But this usually involves the inevitable spilling of finely chopped nuts all over myself somehow (the joke is way too obvious).

Yogurt Park is just your average frozen yogurt place, but they get extra points by me because they offer up WHOLE peanuts. None of this pansy chopped/diced business. Big ol' peanuts in their original form, crunchy and tasty and yummm. Maybe it's just YP being lazy and not wanting to chop up their nuts (lolz), but in any case, I'm all for it.

I have been coming here since I was a kid.
I will fist-fight anybody who DARES speak ill of Yogurt Park..

I can tell what kind of day it will be for me by the flavors Yogurt Park offers. 50-50 Bar/Creamsicle? Cookies and Cream? Pistachio? ROCK. ON.

Their prices have been rising steadily over the last few years, but it's still pretty cheap. You can get a medium with all the toppings you want for 3 bucks and some change.

I'd like to confirm the raves n' craze about Yogurt Park in this brief review.

The line was out the door when i went over the weekend.
Chocolate covered strawberries and the natural yogurt 'tart' flavors swirled together satisfied my crave for something chocolatey and tangy.
It was like having froyo and a light, refreshing (yet filling) ice cream.  (even if it was the freezings outside)  NOTHING beats the amazing price...less than $3 for a mini cup, which is larger than the 'pleaser' size at Rincon center's YoCup ($4.95) and equivalent to the amount I get at Icebee ($4.70)!
The soft, light/creamy, texture of the yogurt is gentle on the palate but oh sooo flavorful and delicious.  I can't say everyone will like it (as I have met a few who don't) but it's definately worth trying!

I like that they change their flavors and that the consistency isn't too icy- pretty close to soft serve ice cream. It isn't the cheaptest place, and I'm not as impressed with the servings as other people. Upgrades to bigger sizes are much better deals, so never get the minis. Just split the biggest with a friend.

So 6 oz of yogurt is $2.50 and 12 oz of yogurt is $2.80, and yet still people in Berkeley are NOT FAT.  How does that work?

The yogurt is just okay, but they get four stars for how they apply the toppings (in layers, so you still have topping when you get to the bottom).  It's a small thing, but it's worth an extra star.  And seriously, chocolate peanut butter oreo?  I may never love again.

Yummy! Yummy! Yummy! There is always a line at this place. When I can't make it to Yogurt Park in Walnut Creek, then I come here. It's that good! I don't mind driving around the streets of Berkeley looking for parking or if I'm in a pinch, I just park in the lot. Then scoot my booty over to Yogurt Park before strolling Telegraph.

I went to Yogurt Park a number of times in Walnut Creek when I was a teen growing up in the 'burbs and loved it. Frozen yogurt went the way of smoothie joints, but I'm happy to see the trend is back with fro yo places popping up right and left. Yogurt Park has been there since the first wave and remains a classic. Not only are the prices unbeatable, but so are there variety of flavors and quality of yogurt taste. I'm not much of a topping person, but there's a wide variety of those too. I happened to be in the neighborhood of the Berkeley store recently and got a wonderful cup of frozen goodness. And I'm sorry, but I don't understand the people who can't finish a small--it's so good that I could never bear to leave any behind in the cup.

Yogurt Park is good.  I don't come here that often because I'm not a sweet-tooth and it is slightly expensive, but even a small size is surprisingly filling for me.  They only have a few flavors at a time but they're pretty good and the toppings go well - I usually get a flavor I can get oreos with.  Definitely worth a try.  If you go to Cal, you MUST try it.

Usually when I get a craving for frozen yogurt, I am so excited about eating it that my eyes are way bigger than my stomach, I order the size small which is never all that small, and I end up with a ginormous cup of frozen yogurt that my tiny face will never ever finish.

Thankfully, Yogurt Park has the perfect size for me: mini :) Not only does it have a cute name, it is the perfect amount of frozen yogurt for me at any time, and it fits easily in my little hand without freezing my fingers so I can walk around with it and not get all cold.

From my experience, they don't skimp on the toppings. One time I ordered Reese's Peanut Butter Cups as a topping, and I got heaps of Reese's crumbles and two whole entire peanut butter cups in my frozen yogurt!!

The price is right (the assorted change in your pocket might actually be enough), the calories are few (especially if you get the mini), and the line can be long but it always moves fast.

I admit I would eat here every day if i could, but to be honest, there is nothing special about this place.

The yogurt is your typical creamy fro-yo. It's the same brand (Honey Hills) that most places use, so there isn't really anything that put their yogurt on top of anyone else's. I haven't seen too many unique flavors here but my recommendations are: Irish Mint, Ghirardelli chocolate, and Peanut Butter.

What I especially love about this place are the prices. For 2 or 3 bucks you could eat yogurt until you explode. Yay!

Cons: This place isn't very clean or sanitary looking: dirty counters, stained windows, food on the floor, etc. I used to work in an icecream/yogurt shop and working with dairy (especially in the summertime) can get nasty.

Ah Yogurt Park.  You always end up buying too much.  But this time, with the veteran experience of previous visits, I knew what I was going to get for the walk to the Berkeley Reparatory Theatre, the 10 oz waffle cone of Ghirardelli Chocolate.

They smartly filled the bottom up with mini m&m's to prevent bottom leakage, and I walked down and finished my cone exactly as we arrived at the theatre.

They have some interesting flavors.  My friends raved over the Khalua flavoring, and after getting a taste, I agree with them.  Sometimes, though, some of the flavors they put up seem just like a mix of whatever was left over.  Irish Creme could just as easily have been the expiring batches of frozen Mint and Vanilla.

Nevertheless, an old campus favorite for students everywhere, I think a big part of Berkeley would miss this place if it ever closed down.

I think is not so much about the taste, its an experience going to this place.

First, you arrive here on a Saturday night and there will undoubtedly be a long line and you get to stand next to all the very scantly dressed women.

Then you try to figure out what flavors you want. What mixes you could conger up while you are in line. It goes by pretty fast.

Their flavor names are cool too. Hmm Peanut butter, Almond, .... I cant think of any cool names they have . I havent had one in a few months. I used to go alot, just havent had the time lately.

The customer service is not realy all that special. I would even say it is not good at all, but I don't want to give them a bad wrap. Just that this one stupid B-iatch  was so unhelpful when I asked her if I could get a half a small, and she said no. Then I realize that they just call it a "MINI"., .... she could have just told me that. b-i-a-ch!

anyways, just a minor grip. I like going here. Its a Berkeley tradition. You almost want to flirt with the girls there, but they are so busy and snobby .... its better to just in vision yourself slapping them. Then they might just slam' you down like the Rock on Friday night. Is he still famous?

-- deco:    boring and low key, very crowded on a hot Sat. afternoon, full with college kids

-- frozen yogurt:  this place sells the traditional frozen yogurt, the soft serve type, not the new trendy Korean frozen yogurt.  I had the "vanilla cappuchino" and "mint", also tried the "Georgia peach".

- Vanilla cappuccino -- EXCELLENT!
- mint -ordinary and boring, not too much taste
- Georgia peach -- slightly sweeter

-- Oh, one more thing, this place is CASH ONLY. Though their prices are really cheap, compared to the Korean frozen yogurt places.  A small (enough to feed 2-3) is only ~$3-4.

I should probably give this a 3.5 star, but given the excellent "vanilla cappuccino" and having it on a hot Sat. afternoon, I will upgrade it to a 4 star!   =)    Personally I am more into the Korean style of tart frozen yogurt though...

YP does not need another review...sheesh! 178 & counting, still we had such a positive experience there today, that what the hell! My sons requested the Yelp review so here goes:

Once upon a time I was a Cal student & subsisted on coffee & a bagel for breakfast, Yogurt Park for lunch, and whatever the cook made the staff at whichever restaurant I was currently employed in at the time for my dinner. After a couple of years of this, it would have been just dandy with me to never revisit the old haunts. Still, with temperatures climbing to nearly 100, frozen yogurt is a good option. After a day at Lake Anza the boys & I went in for a treat. The line moved at warp-speed, the flavor options were all compelling, the choices for mix-ins were mind-boggling, and the product is smooth, creamy, not too sweet...just right. For about $10.00 I made my 3 sons extremely happy. What more needs be said??

I used to love stopping by Yogurt Park on a hot day or after working out at the RSF, but after all of these new frozen yogurt places opened this place isn't that appealing anymore. Their yogurt it very rich and creamy and they have many toppings, it's a shame they don't have fruit toppings though. Their prices have gone up recently and I noticed that all of the cups have gotten quite a bit smaller. They also don't fill the cups as much as they used to, and quite off the employees there seem a bit impatient. But all in all, if you like really rich frozen yogurt, this place is at least worth a shot.

Deliciousness of epic proportions.  I use to go here all the time when I was in college.  Cookie dough mix in was my favorite.  Now that I've moved back home, YoSwirl or whatever it's called just does not compare to Yogurt Park--no competition, for serious.  I took one star away because sometimes the people that work there have attitudes.  Honey, you're the one that chose to work there--and don't be cheap with the cookie dough either.  The guys are okay to deal with, the girls, not so much--at least that's how it was when I was still in college last year.  But other than that, I have no complaints.

Yes. I am one of those people that go to Yogurt Park pretty much everyday. The staff is starting to recognize me, it's getting a little embarrassing.

I don't know what it is about this stuff but its like delightful, happy, sugary, non-fat goodness. If you ever walk by and you see Orange creamsicle, Irish Cream, Irish Mint, Mounds or Butterscotch pecan flavor you HAVE to try. A mini size (which is really filling!) is less than 150 calories and it is the perfect low-calorie dessert for those trying to stay healthy, skinny or just happy. But be careful cause you'll get hooked before you know it. The flavors change every day and pretty soon you'll start to walk by every morning, excited about which new ones are available and how you're gonna fit some YoPo into your schedule. Wait. Just me? damn.

If you're feeling a little indulgent you can get tons of different toppings and even get some yo in a sugar cone.

I haven't reached the stage of calling the daily flavor hotline. YET. But oh yes, there is one just in case.

This is the place where I compare all other yogurt shops.  Frequented this place very often during my years at Cal.

To conclude our trip down memory lane, after our dinner at Downtown, we trekked up to Top Dog on Durant, then made our way to Yogurt Park.

I was very disappointed that they weren't serving their natural yogurt.  I was looking forward to ordering a large with berry topping.  I settled for a New York Cheesecake with strawberry topping.  It was good and hit the spot.

What I like about this place is that in addition to offering 6 different flavors of yogurt, they still have the largest variety of toppings.  Too bad I don't live in the East Bay any more!

I haven't seen my cousin in a long while! I went to Pittsburg to pick her up and then we decide to head out to Berkeley...actually we were just driving for a long while not knowing where to go and then decide to go to Berkeley.

So we went shopping for a little bit and decide to eat at Gypsy's. After Gypsies my cousin wanted to go to Yogurt Park.

This is where I started my Froyo extravaganza! I walked in and stared at the menu for a really long time...unsure with what I was going to get and especially which toppings I wanted to add onto it. I got the vanilla froyo with mini M&Ms and waffle crumbs. OMG...It was soooo good!! I really liked the waffle crumbs, it wasn't stale like every other places I've tried. They put the froyo in a cup and then add the toppings in the middle and on top. Their small is not small at all...it's huge! If you want a small small then go for the mini...which is the smallest size but I still think it's big.  At first I wanted to get the mini, since I already ate I was still kinda full, but no....my cousin kept pressuring me to get the small because it was only 25 cents more. She said she was going to help me finish if I couldn't which she didn't....And the pricing is wayyy worth it. My cousin got the Butterscotch Pecan without any toppings and it was really good! It didn't even need any toppings. The froyo is really creamy...unlike the newer places that's been opening up all across the bay.

I've been craving this place ever since! I haven't gotten the chance to go back for some but I'll definitely be back! Yum....I want some now!

Delicious yogurt. Good flavors and it's open late.

Minus one star cuz the service sucks (i am generous, it's true), and is made up of mostly annoying, bitchy college girls. Also, is it just me or does it seem kind of dirty in there? I guess I just try not to think about it too much, but it's kind of gross.

There are quite a few different yogurt flavors (which you can sample before ordering).  Each order comes with a free topping, with a variety of options like brownies, raisins, Heath Bar, walnuts, etc.  They mix-in the toppings within the middle of the yogurt as well as topping it off.

The mini size is big enough to fill me up.  The line is long but usually moves quickly. Be sure to bring cash since they don't accept plastic. Great location, right near campus!

I give em 5 stars, for the Flavor & Topping Selections!!!

Never disappoints!!
Went here last night, for a Healthy Treat - went home happy, and full for $2.80 (I got the small Mix of Belgian Choc. & Vanilla w/ Sprinkles)
The mini, which is TOTALLY enough, is only $2.50

Favorite Flavors:
Blackberry
Belgian Chocolate
Black Cherry
Mango
Strawberry

They have probably 30 Toppings to pick from, and,
they change the flavors ALL the time, can't get enough!!!

I will drive to Yogurt Park at all hours of the day, with the strongest cravings moments before midnight.  Thank god they are open so late!

I have their flavor number on speed dial (!) but ironically my favorite flavor is (tart) natural!  I know all the spin off yogurt places that have come about recently pretty much always have natural but Yogurt Park is really the best value.  If there is no natural, I always seem to get the chocolate of the day and the fruit flavor.  Chocolate chips and yogurt drops.

There is one girl there who always makes me smile.  Always cheery, personable, and I think her favorite flavor is Irish Mint/Chocolate which is an excellent choice, further proving her awesomeness.  Truth is, not all of the people working there are so cheery...which you kind of expect from an ice cream store because its busy and redundant.  And so many customers who can't make up their minds!  But this girl...so happy all the time.  Tip her.

PS I don't think its expensive at all.  You guys are hella cheap.
