Review from Ron M.
My journey into Yoga started back in February. I was kind of in a workout rut and felt like I needed a new challenge and to try something new. I didn't have a clue in regards to the different styles of yoga (it's all Greek to me; uh, um, maybe it's all Indian to me), but I knew I wanted a studio that was close to home. There are a few studios on Queen Anne, but a friend of mine highly recommended this place, so I signed up for their Intro to Yoga series. This is a 6-week series that meets on Sunday (4 - 5:15 p.m.) and costs $75.
I definitely got what I wanted when I started the intro program - a pleasurable challenge! Sessions run for 75 minutes and I never thought I would sweat as much I did! It's definitely a different kind of burn from my traditional weight resistance workouts. Lisa, my instructor, is a very upbeat, supporting person who is passionate about her work. She took the time to explain the nuances of moves and some philosophical/historical background of yoga. It is always good to get your learning on! My class had about 25 people at the start, but the class whittled down to about 15 left at the end. A side note - I want to work on my flexibility and, in time, I hope to be as flexible as I was when I used to run cross country.
Upon completion of the intro series, I was eligible to purchase a Prana Membership for new members - 30 days/up to 30 classes for $59. That was pretty much a no-brainer for me! I plan on trying as many different classes and instructors. So far, I've tried their Friday Night Restorative, Hatha Flow (Level I/II) and Gentle Hatha class. Restorative was quite a different experience for me since it focused on the practice of being (this class is also taught by Lisa). It was very calming! The Hatha Flow class on Sunday totally kicked my butt and it felt freaking awesome! Yesterday, I took a Gentle Hatha class with Christina - I learned some new moves and learned that I need to work on my balance (especially with Warrior 3)!
I know my new journey in the world of yoga is a long one and there will
be many peaks and valleys, but I'm definitely enjoying it

So, my whole life I was the running, kickboxing, soccer playing type. Yoga didn't make you sweat! Yoga doesn't get you going! However, when I bulged a disc in my back, everything sopped. I was getting antsy though, I wanted to move and my husband took this as a prime opportunity to be "Aha, maybe yoga now?" (He's been a big yoga advocate for many years)
Purely due to proximity, I ended up at Yogalife in Queen Anne. It is amazing. First of all, I had done some 'gym yoga' before at Rain Fitness, this is a totally different experience. You sweat, you really sweat sometimes, but it's not painful. You do balancing 'counter-poses' so you don't leave feeling particulrly sore, even though your abs were worked crazy, you just leave feeling good and energized.
Yogalife's instructors are all very eperienced. The environment is very welcoming and non-judging. The instructors get to know you, take special requests if you are sore, and all are different. This way you can pick and choose depending on what you like, or what kind of work-out you are looking for that day.
One of my favorite things about Yogalife is the flexibility. There are two studios and you can go between them (the other is in greenlake.) This way you can find the perfect times, or follow around an instructor is you like their style best. The cost is actually pretty good as well. It is cheaper the more classes you get and you can pay for classes unlimited for a time period if you go a lot, or just purchase a set number of classes that you can use over time. Their new member specials are also really good and if you have a chinook book, there is coupon in there for a free class Go! Try it out! Have fun! -

I won 5 classes at Yogalife through a silent auction for a literature magazine. I was really excited to take the classes, since it had been a few years since my last yoga class.
I went in the class a little nervous because it had been so long, but the minute I walked in to the small office area everyone was REALLY friendly. The yoga space feels so warm and intimate. I was really relaxed the whole time and got amazing workout. I have left every class so far sweaty and feeling like I could float.
I have just been to four classes now and the instructor already remembers me. Last week I took my boyfriend and he even had a great experience. -

I did the intro package here and was not nuts about 4/5 teachers I tried (I'm spoiled!) -- but the fifth, Natalia, was wonderful! On the plus side, the other four teachers were very nice -- but, just not super experienced or knowledgable. I feel like this is a great neighborhood studio if you have your fave instructors. Some people complained about the space, but I found it really beautiful.

I love this studio and the wonderful environment. There is a great sense of community, and the instructors are amazing. I especially love Natalia's flow classes, as she is super challenging and restorative at the same time. Lisa is also out of this world.

Im sorry but Ive been to this studio twice, and I just dont like the practice space because it's too narrow and long. We all kind of have to line up in a horizontal line in front of the instructor like were in the Army or something like that. The photo on this site makes it look wider than it actually is (but most businesses like to use photos that make it look bigger, anyway). The instructors seemed pretty nice tho'.

The people are really nice and the instructors are ok, a lot of incense and a little warm. For the price it's really not worth it for me, I didn't love any of the instructors and the place gets REALLY full for some of the classes where you're like 6 inches away from someones butt. eh

I have never, ever, gone to a Yoga class. I am stubborn, competitive and self conscious....but thanks to my DVD player I have been practicing for about 6-7 years now. The 2:15 pm Sunday class taught by Frances was my first-and it was AMAZING. Maybe I am just happy to be proved wrong about working out in public, but Frances was articulate and gentle, but thorough in her adjustments-I was so immediately at ease I parked my mat front row! I look forward to more of her classes but they are going to be full :)

I had a lovely experience here, totally by accident. I missed a class by about a minute at Haute Yoga across the street...annoyed, but determined, I remembered I had a free class coupon for Yogalife. As luck would have it, they had a class 10 minutes from then, a level II Hatha class. It was much gentler than my usual vinyasa flow practice, but it was perfect. Very intimate, anatomical and deep. The instructor and the person at the front desk were so friendly and helpful, and the studio was non-pretentious, down to earth and had a great energy. Loved it!

I started my yoga practice at Yogalife because it was convenient to my home, and continued practicing here for the last 8 months. I was a complete novice when I came in, and thanks to Lisa's intro classes, I stuck with it! Nicole is an amazing teacher. Her classes are both challenging and relaxing at the same time, and she always suggests modifications based on your needs. She is great about demonstrating the different postures, which I find helpful so that I can understand exactly what I'm supposed to do. She has the most soothing voice too, and every class was always a bit different and therefore interesting. I participated in a few workshops and would recommend those as well. Most classes had students of various experience levels, which is inspiring and also very un-intimidating if you are a newbie like me.
The studio is very calming and peaceful with nice yellow walls and big windows, but no mirrors. I really liked not having any mirrors because it allowed me to focus more on how the positions feel as opposed to how I look compared to my neighbor. All of the teachers play music during class - usually a mix of different genres, but all very nice.
Overall, I really enjoyed the whole Yogalife experience and would recommend this studio for yogis of all levels. I hope to find a place as nice as this on the East Coast.
