I've been a Yoga Yoga member for two years, but this is the first time I've been to their South location. I must say, I am a fan.
My home studio is the North studio, and I like it because it is small. I get overwhelmed in large yoga classes. The South studio reminded me very much of the North one and I was pleased.
I went to Matt's Hatha star class and it was wonderful. I felt limber and strong afterward.
Also a woman I used to take private lessons from, Karlie, has recently started teaching more classes at the South location and I'm totally pumped. She was wonderful privately, I know she'll be the same in class.
Good job Yoga Yoga South for having smaller classes with great instructors!
I drove in from Dallas for a special weekend workshop with Seane Corn. I wish I could move to Austin just for this yoga studio. Everyone that I met was so nice and I was amazed at all the classes they offer just at this location. I would love to come back for some more teacher training.
And the chai tea available after class is so yummy and such a nice sweet touch.
I wish I could have taken a class while I was in town as I'm sure the teachers are amazing considering the number of people I saw come through the door in a short time.
This studio does a great job bringing in nationally known instructors such as Seane Corn
I will be back as soon as I can!
I had never tried yoga anywhere but my gym, and I wanted to try Ashtanga (sweaty yoga), so my coworker brought myself and another coworker here.
It was really comfortable for trying something new. The instructor Rachel was really clear and nice, giving just enough guidance and help when you needed it. The studio was really peaceful, too.
Afterward you get a yummy chai-like drink and I discovered that the Yoga Yoga patrons were really nice and friendly. I want to come back. Only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is it's expensive--$16 a class, less when you buy more classes. I don't know if I could justify a gym membership and a Yoga Yoga membership, but I want one!
I was skeptical that this superstore of yoga would be too corporate and crowded for me, but I was pleasantly surprised. It is a bit overwhelming how popular/crowded this location can get, almost as if there should be a turnstile at the door. I know, this isn't sounding very good, but what I want to express is that it is accessible to both the beginner and more advanced student. They offer a range of class times and 'packages' that allow you to pick and choose which classes to check out. The best part, in my opinion, are the teachers. They clearly love what they do. There aren't any commitment obligations so if you are shopping around for a new place to practice, or are intimidated by getting started in yoga, I would recommend giving this place a try.
Little or No karma here! Began with positive vibe but has morphed
into corporate style business with sketchy loyalty to many of your
favorite teachers. Sure there are some good teachers at YY and the
CONVENIENCE factor is paramount to many... Don't let the smilin guy in the turban fool ya... He's more of a greeter... The evil parts tend to sway me in kinder directions... Plenty of better choices around Austin
don't tell anyone but i think i'm a hippie at heart. i took my first yoga class at 13 and i've been hooked ever since. my practice was sporadic at best until we relo'd to austin and i discovered yoga yoga. it's amazing. so much so that hulaboy, dedicated couch potato that he is, even joined me and learned to love the particular joy that is downward dog.
i hope angela's still teaching because she remains the best yoga teacher i've ever had. i love that yoga yoga has a huge selection of classe because sometimes ashtanga is fun but sometimes a girl just wants to do three rounds of sun salutations and then lay around while stretching out some hamstrings for 45 minutes.
i tried classes at all the locations and they rock equally. pick the closest one to you and bliss out, my friends.
Absolutely love it! Great space, wonderful instruction, and GREAT student discounts.
A long time ago I went to yoga yoga when I first moved to Austin and somehow back then didn't seem very attractive to me. Since then I went to classes at my gym and had continued to do so until recently. I went for a Kundalini Sound class and had such a great time and relaxing experience. At first I was intimidated as I hadn't been to a class like that before but I was quickly able to pick up what we were doing and bliss out during the meditation. I can't believe how great I felt after and how nice everyone was from the front desk, to the instructor, to the students. They have some great tea they give you afterwards which is such a great way to end your experience. I really recommend this from beginners to experts as you will always feel at home at Yoga Yoga.
