I attended Yoga District's teacher training. If I had it to do again, I'd go to a different studio. There are so many reasons the YD teacher training program is the lowest price option in the area. It really shouldn't be part of the Yoga Alliance accreditation program.
Yoga District was the least professional training environment I've ever experienced. Training materials were provided late or not at all. Instructors were confused about when and where they were supposed to be and what they were on point to teach the trainees. Trainees were forced to read the materials to each other, like in elementary school. Trainees were expected to clean the studio, bathrooms, and do the studio's laundry.
Yoga District has a "no animal products in the studio" rule that was not communicated to trainees in advance, making meal planning very challenging. Several people had pre-prepared a week's worth of meals for the training that went to waste. It was funny when the kundalini teacher use a real sheep skin mat.
The people who teach the public yoga classes at Yoga District are not well treated or well paid. There are lovely teachers at Yoga District, but the company itself, is selfishly managed. The employees seemed burned out and resentful. The owner, Jasmine, lives in Europe and isn't really engaged. I'm just so glad I never have to see Jayanti again!!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dale G.Berwyn, PA06Jan 19, 2019
Outstanding resource, great experiences! So pleased this was near my visiting residence. I attended a couple of midday classes that were perfect for my needs. Excellent, skillful, caring instructors.

We are so lucky to have an affordable and welcoming yoga studio in Glover Park! There is a wide range of classes to choose from but my favorite is Kundalini, a harder to find yoga practice. The instructors at Yoga District have always been down to earth, inviting and knowledgable. And the class sizes are always comfortable, never super crowded. You should try a class here!

This is such a great little studio in the neighborhood just a few blocks from my house. Like a previous reviewer said, it does not have all the bells and whistles. You will not find cucumber mint water in the corner or a rack of $90 yoga apparel being sold. What you will find are really great instructors, that know their stuff, at a reasonable price.
I have been coming to this studio a few times a week for a few months now and I love it. I usually go to the gentle and flow yoga classes taught my Hayley Ann. She is an awesome instructor that takes her time to break down things down instead of rushing through class...None of these classes are intimidating which is good for people who are at the beginner or intermediate level.
NOTE: This studio can be a bit tricky to find your first time....it is located right next to a wine shop in the building across the street from Sweetgreen.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - JG S.Glover Park, Washington, DC05Jun 2, 2018Updated review
I am a 5 year member of Yoga District who primarily uses the new Glover Park studio. The atmosphere and the level of attention by the teachers is wonderful. Also Yoga District was able to provide me access to private lessons when I first started. I did not know the moves and over 8 months, one of their instructors taught me the basic moves and proper forms.
The class instructors continue to offer that guidance that helps me to maintain proper forms and posture. The variety of classes and times offer a flexibility that meets my schedule.
My doctor and I are grateful to Yoga District for the health benefits it provides and the professionals that lead the classes.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1Aug 5, 2015Previous reviewI have attended various classes at the Yoga District Glover Park Studio. The facility offers classes for all types, from novices through veteran yogis. The location and hours are convenient. It is wonderful for someone such as myself who has a broad selection of activities and times throughout the week.
I have my favorite classes, but it a wonderful studio where I was initiated into yoga and continue to go. The low fees, the range of classes and times, as well as the quality instructions cannot be beaten. - Adnan S.Princeton, NJ22071Mar 29, 2015
Wow. So I'm visiting DC from NYC, found this studio via Yelp, visited the website and noticed that this studio was the only one in the area to be open late on a Sunday, and with a 7:30-8-45 Kundalini Yoga class, so that's great.
I had to unfortunately fiddle with the website as I could not figure out how to set up a password enabled user A/C at yogadistrict.com.
BUT Amazingly I was contacted by Andrea here on Yelp, and also by Jasmine via text - they both welcomed me to attend and assured that it should be ok to join in, so I headed over and was able to take Marissa's Kundalini Yoga class - she was terrific.

Great morning class with Akiko!
I came to D.C. to visit a friend, and looked up a few different yoga studios I might be able to go to within walking distance, and this seemed to be the closest. I wasn't impressed with the inside of the studio - it was very small and the ceiling was a bit lower than I'm usually comfortable with - but they had cubbies for shoes, and storage for our belongings farther inside.
One plus that I didn't expect - I'd brought a thin travel mat with me to put on top of a rental (for a bit of additional cushion), but the flooring here was actually soft/springy enough that I didn't need the extra mat! The flooring was a great surface to practice on.
I really enjoyed the class with Akiko, though. She did such a wonderful job detailing how and where we should be feeling the poses, and her adjustments were amazing! I could definitely feel the difference from before and after, and she took some time afterwards to answer my questions and help me with some additional demonstrations.
It was a very basic class, but I really worked for it. If I'm ever in the area again I would definitely come back.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Cesse I.Washington, DC34446Aug 2, 2013First to Review
FINALLY! A yoga studio in the Glover Park/Cathedral Heights neighborhood. I've been going to Yoga District on and off for 4 years, and am so enthused that they opened a studio in my neighborhood. It was only a matter of time - since Hot Yoga left Cathedral Heights last year, there was a definite void around here.
This Yoga District is bright, open, clean, but only one studio. They have one class at a time, but have a pretty diverse offering of classes at a variety of times during the day. When I'm leaving early at work, I can catch a 5:15 class on my way home, or when I'm unable to sneak out early, the 6:30 classes are perfect. There are also 8pm classes that allow me to go home and change before I walk to the studio.
Yoga District is the most affordable studio that I've been to in DC, and although you might not vibe with every teacher, since there are so many different kinds of classes and teachers to try out, you are sure to find a class or teacher that you love. If you buy a pass for Yoga District, you can use it at any of their locations within the district.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Cathy B.Hyattsville, MD811215Aug 9, 2014
Having recently released 25+ pounds, I've been in search of a program to keep my body in shape as I continue to shed. I've attended and enjoyed Barre classes in the past. But I always found myself wishing that the Barre classes included more yoga and in fact the yoga part of the class was always what I enjoyed the most.
I discontinued Barre classes to concentrate on nutrition and when I decided to re-enter an exercise program I considered barre again but it occurred to me that instead of wishing they included more yoga, I could just take yoga!
I researched and found 2 yoga studios in particular that I want to try out. Today I tried Yoga District (Wisconsin Avenue branch). My instructor, Akiko. I cannot say enough positive things about her style and grace and expertise. I was the first to arrive. She introduced herself and asked a little about me. Then she put my mind at ease by telling me that in yoga, you never force the body or move to the point of discomfort. Instead, you let the body make adjustments over time...at its own pace.
During class (which had about 16 or 17 women) she found time to circulate throughout the entire class, correcting postures with gentleness and care and encouraging each student with kindness.
I've already signed up for another of her classes and plan on taking a class with her every week.
On Thursday I will check out one other studio and if I like that class, I'll have 2 different days, classes and styles to be a part of.
I highly recommend Yoga District. The fees are exceptionally affordable and the teaching according to the reviews is exceptional.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Erik A.Silver Spring, MD13Oct 31, 2016
Small, minimalist space. Some may find it a bit close, but I found it to be a welcome change from many of the industrial studios in the area and a nice opportunity to reconnect with yoga in a down-to-earth manner. The yoga instructor was welcoming, engaging, appropriately attentive to how various class members were doing, and well-trained. She offered to stay after class to help a student she saw struggling with a difficult move. I might have paced the flow a bit differently, but that really is just me being nit picky rather than a genuine critic. Overall my experience was extremely positive and I will definitely be including Yoga District on a regular basis in the studios I use.
