Maybe you need to be a local, but this place has the best hot dogs in the world. You want one with all the fixings. Also decent Philadelphia cheese steaks (but if you want the best there-go to Brass Rail). Love the pierogies too. Fast service too. Call ahead for take out. Seating is limited. If you like the yoco sauce, they sell it and you can take it home and make your own dogs, but the rolls are hard to match. Or buy a yoco pack. It get 5 stars just for the dogs! It's hot dogs, shrunken from being out too long, on wilted buns, with maybe some sauce on it. Mehhh. I just don't get it. I've first tried it years ago, wasn't impressed, and still isn't after a recent trip.
Maybe it's because I wasn't drunk either of those times. -

This would be drunk food at its finest, but honestly this place doesn't serve much purpose outside of absorbing alcohol from your gut.
Yocco's chili dogs were very average like your hebrew national with some canned chili, onions, and mustard. They also use regular potato buns. 2/5 for these. Tony Packo's would have been a 4/5 and Ben's chili bowl in DC gets the full 5/5 in the hot dog category.
Pierogies were nothing like their Polish predecessors. Looks like one on the outside, tastes like hash brown with some onion. It's not bad, I'd consider this place a very viable alternative to a chain fast-food joint.
Unless you had childhood memories of eating here or are intoxicated on alcohol, marijuana, or some combination thereof- I really don't see how Yocco's can get as many stars as it has on Yelp.
They have good prompt service though and a locals vibe, so I suppose that counts for something. -

I love love love Yocco's!
Is it the BEST hot dog ever, no. That's why they are 4 stars, not five. Are they really good? Do they hit the spot?? Yes, ooohhhhhh yes. I've honestly never had anything but the hot dog with everything and the fries here...why in the heck would you get anything else at a hot dog joint? (They have Mrs. T's perogies, too...but give me the fries every time.)
Oh, and they're dirt cheap, too.
Try Yocco's! -

Pennsylvanians love nothing more than good street eats. Technically, Yocco's isn't a 'street eatery'--it's an actual sit-down establishment but its menu has definite street cred among locals. The place is locally famous for its hot dogs (which are a little dry and shriveled for my liking), but in my opinion, Yocco's really shines with its sausage offerings.
Tip: Try a cheese sausage with everything and ketchup. When they say "everything", they mean it! Perfect road trip or post-game food. -

Yocco's is a staple in the Valley. They are an old school hotdog joint where you should feel obligated to have your dogs the way they want to make them for you, with chili, mustard, and onions. Affordable, tasty and fast.

I. LOVE. YOCCOS. I send my boyfriend to get them every time he goes back east. I finally got the chance to go to a Yoccos. Just so you know a frozen doggie pack is nothing compared to having it at an actual Yoccos. The dogs are small and you can easily eat two, with a side of perogies.
I hope to get back to Allentown soon to get some more! -

Skinnier than Putts dogs, but the flavorful chili sauce, onion and mustard combination is hard to beat. And they have birch beer too. What more could you ask for?

In the year I lived in Allentown I made a ritual out of going to Yocco's every friday for lunch. Two cheese dogs, large pirogies, and a chocolate milk. Not exactly low calorie, but worth the need to work out a little extra that day.
Ordering takes a little understanding and when busy the experience can be a tad intimidating. The dogs are worth it though. Note that if you order a regular hot dog it will come with chili sauce, mustard, and onions. You can get your dogs anyway you want if you ask.
I miss my Friday trips to Yocco's:( -

Astoria, NY
Driving through Northeastern PA, we had to stop and try one of the famous hot dogs.
This particular location (the original, I believe) was in a sketchy sort of neighborhood. The staff were very nice and we ordered out dog and were in and out very quickly. Just enough time to look around. It felt like a bodega and hot dog stand in one.
The hot dog was rather cold and while I liked how crispy and well-done it was, the special chili sauce was also overcooked. It almost seemed to be dried to the weiner. I got some hints of cinnamon and spice, but it was rather bland.
I liked the snap of the dog and the softness of the bread. But I was really looking forward to that sauce. It got eaten away and didn't have a chance to live up to the hype.

Thank god you open at 10am. Chili cheese dogs, pierogies and chocolate milk are an unbeatable combo for soaking up last night's alcohol. I felt a tinge of nostalgia this morning, waiting for the morning fix I that I turned to so many times back in high school.
If you're some kind of commie that doesn't like chili cheese dogs (and hates America), they make a decent cheesesteak too. -

An Allentown institution. All of the locations are great. I'm writing about this one because it is the closest to my home.
Dogs are thin and well cooked. Chili sauce is more meaty than sauce, but not overpowering. Pierogies (fried) are the standard accompaniment. Allentown natives also go with a chocolate milk, but Yocco's does have the best fountain drinks around (I don't know what it is, but their sodas are better than everyone else). If you have the will power to stray from the dogs, go with a chili cheesesteak.
Family-owned Yocco's remains the hot dog king, and always will.Listed in: My Neighborhood, Top Restaurants

Went on a roadtrip to Allentown, and this was "the place" to try. Now, living in NYC I'm spoiled by the selection of hot dogs. I wanted to like this place, I really did. But the hot dogs here taste like the ones from my high school cafeteria...rubbery and flavorless.
I ordered one "Yocco's dog", with chili and onions, and one plain with ketchup. Neither were good, but the pierogis were pretty good. I'd never had a pierogi before, and these seemed to be alright.
The other people eating there (high schoolers), all ordered burgers or other non-hot dog items. Maybe I should have done that. There were also at least 7 staff members working when there only needed to be one or two, and when it took my friends and I more than a minute to know what we wanted, they seemed to think we weren't really worthy of great service. I have no desire to ever come back here...even Costco hot dogs are better (and much bigger!). -

These chili dogs make me want to cry. THE BEST. Thin, wrinkly little dogs so flavorful, perfectly complimented with a trickle of meat-chili sauce. So simple, so great.
And they serve *fried* perogies as sides? Who does that?? Yocco's. -

I grew up in Allentown, and every time I head back home, I have to go back to Yocco's. It's always the same, and it's always good. The hot dogs are small which is exactly the right size for me. I don't like those jumbo hot dogs where you bite into it and look inside and start wondering about what you're eating. Also, nothing beats a side of pierogies.

Went to Yocco's at the recommendation of a co-worker who is from the area. I will fully admit that the look of the food isn't the most appetizing, but, boy, does the taste make up for it! Between my husband and I, we tried the cheese dog, pierogies, and fries. The cheese dog comes with mustard, onions, chili sauce and cheese. It was delicious! The pierogies are fried (not my favorite method), but good. And I have to say the fries were some of the best I have ever had - no joke!
For the price and the speed, I would highly recommend Yocco's to anyone needing a tasty, quick meal. I will definitely visit again it I am in the area. -

I love this place! From the old well kept building, located on (Yocco Dr. no less!) to the super-fast service. The dogs are the star and of course you get it within seconds of ordering, just like at a street cart. I am not much of a perogie expert but these are everywhere in Allentown, just like pretzels are in Philly. So the logical side to a dog is a perogie, yum.

Smallish dogs but cheap (about $1.50 each) with an OK but thin chili sauce.
Get pierogies not the oven-style crinkle fries.
4 stars for the down-home family vibe and the value - we fed 5 for $20. -

I cannot get enough of Yocco's. It's basically candy.

Anyone who lives in the Lehigh Valley is familiar with Yocco's. I make it a mission to visit Yocco's every time I'm in the Lehigh Valley for two with everything, an order of pierogies and a chocolate milk. They also have excellent cheesesteaks. This is not a place for the health-conscious, though.

Not like it was years ago, the buns used to be steamed and were always fresh. Now they are sometimes stale and the hotdog is often cold to boot.

Sure the hot dogs are amazing. And their perogies are soooo crispy. But I believe people are so focused on the dogs they overlook the delicious Yocco chili cheesesteaks. I popped in with my family over Tgiving after a little tree shopping. They ordered 8 dogs and I was the lone steak sandwich. I find it even better than the Brass Rail's. Sure I had indigestion after the snack, but well worth it and nothing a few Tums didn't cure in time for supper.

My boyfriend is from Allentown, so he eventually had to introduce me to Yocco's on one of our many trips up there. I just found everything to be mediocre -- not bad, not really worth making repeated stops there. And the clientele at the time [a Saturday afternoon] was a little.. creepy, to say the least, along with a lot of old people and babies. I wish I'd known at the time that the pierogies were fried, though.. my favorite bar does that and I *love* them.

Good, fast eats. Don't expect any frills but overall a good dog if you have the misfortune of walking around in the area.

An icon in the Lehigh Valley! Owned and operated by the Iaccoca Family! Every time I'm in town I eat there at least a few times! Better than the "Philly Cheese Steak"! and the hot dogs are absolutely the best! Be sure and bring cash though as they do not take plastic!
