First the positive - the pool is awesome, its the whole reason my MIL bought the membership for us. Past that - its very expensive, 1K/yr and not many perks go along with that. You still have to pay for the classes/camps, with only a couple dollars discount max. My daughter is in swim classes and the overall consensus with the moms is that the lessons aren't up to caliber, and they wont' be returning. For the child to "progress" to the next level, they must put their head in the water, this is NOT what the class covers at all. They kick a little, blow some bubbles, and one student is allowed to just sit on the sidelines and watch. They need to be more firm with the students, "This is what we are doing now..." instead of (in a baby voice) "Do you want to..." The student/teacher ratio for our class is 6 to 1! The kids spend the majority of time playing. not learning. 4 weeks and $68 dollars later, my daughter knows little more than she did already, certainly cannot swim, nor has any more comfort with the water. I will not encourage my MIL to renew our membership, but would continue to use facilities. Even with the "free" gym use (which would only be $300/yr paid at 24Hr.)
We've since tried to have a birthday there. It was $100 for the party. The girl assured me if I cancelled, I would receive a full refund. Lo and behold, my DH decided he didn't like the time and cost and cancelled. They took out a $10 fee. I don't get upset at people, but I wanted to. I let them know the conversation and the girl was apologetic, at least.
