YMCA of Central Kentucky
2 reviews for YMCA of Central Kentucky
I like this Y because they have a decent variety of fitness classes and the membership doesn't cost a huge amount. Plus, it has lots of weights, treadmills, ellipticals and other stuff. I sample from the group exercise menu: Pam's my favorite because she kicks your ass and leaves you smiling. I've taken several classes she teaches and have been satisfied with every one.
Beware going during peak times, though: the parking lot can be a nightmare!
Another great thing I like about the Y in general is that they offer subsidized memberships to families and individuals: great for struggling students or anyone else who wants to get fit at a discount. And the application process is relatively painless!
I used to live close to this Y, then I moved closer to town and was basically halfway between this location and the High Street Branch. I chose to switch locations, and I am glad I did. If you have a family, Beaumont is great, but if you prefer to run, swim, work out, play basketball, with out being bothered much, I'd recommend the High Street Branch. Unless you are able to go to the gym from 9am - 3pm, there are always a ton of kids running around here with virtually no supervision. It gets really annoying when you're trying to work out and kids keep getting on the machines in front of you and next to you and messing around for 30 seconds then running off, bumping into you and yelling at each other.
