Great ambiance. Friendly to the neighbors. Nice range of wines.

This place is in a sweet spot of SF, the Dogpatch. The mostly organic wine selection and assortment of tapas'ish plates makes you want to linger on the couches and drink until your teeth turn red.

The owner and bartenders are sweet and not too chatty.

Easy access from the T line, a great place to savor the moment.

I swear to Mariah, it took one billion trillion balloons tied to my old two-story house just to get to this remote boonies area of San Francisco known mysteriously as the "Dog Patch."

After many close-calls with tall buildings, wayward birds and violent storms, I finally arrived at my destination: Yield Wine Bar.

Was Yield Wine Bar worth this dangerous and foreverlong journey? It's hard to say.

The limited food menu was pretty good, albeit a bit pricey.

The Chevre-Stuffed Medjool Dates were marvelous, the oyster plater standard fare (although the pop-rocks-seasoned oyster with a birthday candle was a great touch and tooootally weird and awesome), the Warm Spinach Dip had a slight chalky undertone (like goat cheese-esque) (but not bad), and the stuffed endives were tasty like Coko's pastries (if you get this, marry me please).

But you come here for the wine, right?

Unfortunately, Yield was out of the one Riesling on the menu the night I went... which, sorry to say, is like going to a bar and ordering a gin & tonic but they're out of gin....... :| We ended up ordering a suggested alternative white along with another red, neither of which I personally was a fan of.

The bartender/host with the bleached blonde hair was perfectly adorable and quirky. The chef popped out for a minute, but like a fetus who decided to be unborned, popped back into the kitchen just as soon; it was bizarre and cute.

So in conclusion, if you're anything like me, a classy wine bar like this place is not really your cup of tea, but if you don't really ever trip about spending that cash and don't mind a fantastic voyage just to get to this remote jungle/outer limits, then as far as wine bars go, Yield is definitely not bad.

11/9... Never Forget

This cozy little place is one of my new favorites.

The atmosphere could be warmer, but the service is great: totally unpretentious and helpful.

Excellent food, especially  the stuffed dates (i don't even like dates!)

I love trying new wines, and I think they have a nice variety.

Great wines, tremendously delicious hors d'oevres, what's not to like?  In fact, parking in the early evening is really easy so that right there takes care of a big problem, and there is a MUNI stop right there, so that facilitates a lot.

Goat chesse stuffed figs is the premiere tasty appetizer, but there is so much more.  It's been awhile, but my vegan friend whom joined in had plenty to choose from, so lots of good choices.

I shall definitely return.

I've been to this wine bar once before and my recollection was that it was just ok - nothing truly stood out.  I gave it another go and went again a few years later and the wines were wonderful but the service was waning.  We were given water, then ignored for about 15 minutes.  Ordered wine, then were ignored again.  Took us another 10 minutes to the bill.

I can say the wines were great - but services, was lacking.

Remarkably good/interesting/varied selection of wines by the glass, and they rotate frequently. In the past year the food has really gone up a notch too, from "a few good snacks" to great small dishes.

I've gone here many times.

Extra bonus: not the crazy "scene" of some downtown/financial/north beach places.

This place is not in my hood and I stopped by to kill some time and avoid traffic and was pleasantly surprised.

Good selection of wines and the price points are reasonable. Staff is friendly and the space is mellow.

Very much a neighborhood gem.

Great vibe -- very warm and inviting space.  LOVE the alcohol-fueled stove warming up the place, as well as the very affable host.  Owner and host were both very accomodating, and made great suggestions as to which wines we might like.

We had a couple of small-plate starters and wines to match... wish we'd had more time as some of their more substantial treats looked to good to pass up -- but we were dining at Serpentine (just across the street) and didn't want to fill up prior.

Highly recommend this place, and will definitely come back with wife in tow for a more romantic visit.

You've got to be kidding me. If you haven't ventured to the Dogpatch neighbourhood yet, get there now. Or getta outa town.

Parking loosens up after 6pm, and you must take your next date to Yield Wine Bar for delicious tasties and great wine, guilt-free because everything is organic and sustainable.

It is the perfect ideal of SF casual style. A classy place in jeans. You will taste wines there that you will remember and pursue forever. And you can have a tasty plate there, too, for a good price.

I found the service excellent, and the food good, and the value great. If you like really good wine and snacks, brave the parking and park your butts for a while at Yield.

I went to Yield last night, for the first time, after stumbling across it on Yelp. I rather hurriedly chose it while on the phone with my colleague making plans to meet at a mutually convenient location. I live in SF, she lives in Pacifica... it took us both about 15 minutes to get here. It's quite conveniently located just off the freeway.

I am partial to the funky Dogpatch neighborhood, and so was excited by the location. However, this little place won me over with its warm atmosphere, friendly service, and insanely delicious food. The wine, this is a wine bar after all, was great, but I will admit I only tried the happy hour special (which changes each day). The carafe served up two very large glasses of wine, for $10. The particular variety was one that I like, so it did have an advantage. We were so happy with it, we ordered nothing else to drink!

I also give kudos for the fact that their wines are all certified organic, most bio-dynamic in some way. I was worried that this would mean the wine wasn't very good, but I loved it, as I mentioned.

The restaurant is divided into two areas, the cozy couch/ottoman area which feels very homey... like someone has a bar in their loft living room. And on the right side they have tall table and bar stools; sparse, but cozy nonetheless, with a chalkboard menu and a little denatured alcohol flame running in the room.

I would be remiss if I failed to mention the food, which was an afterthought for us (we had not come to eat, really). We chose the watermelon and heirloom tomato salad (the taste summer right there), the fried okra (which might have been the best I've ever had), and a creamy spinach dip (with this parmesan crisp on the top that was to die for)... all I can say is don't leave with out trying *something* from their short, seasonal menu. The prices were quite reasonable, and well worth the delight of eating them.

I will be going there again very soon; great place to take a client, a date, or a group of friends.

I love Yield Wine Bar.

It is a great neighborhood bar to meet friends or to unwind after work.  Their reds are excellent and their cheese plate (brie + blue) is amazing.  The people are friendly and good-looking.

The only thing I'd change would be the stools that are not the most comfortable.

Highly recommended!

I like this place not so much because it's an outstanding wine bar.  Let's face it, it's hard to be an "outstanding" anything.  They have a good selection and good food.  But then again, you'd expect that, wouldn't you?

I like this place because of:
1. Their super friendly staff - like everyone else has said.  It's true!
2. Easy parking.  What a relief!

d organized a little gathering at Yield a couple weeks back, a new wine bar in the latest "up and coming" neighborhood in SF: the Dogpatch.

The former industrial wasteland is slowly being transformed by the familiar incremental steps: gut warehouses and build loft space, open up mid-range restaurants, cafes, eclectic stores, and last but not least: add public transportation.  We went there on a early Saturday evening and while it was dead empty then, by the time we left around 10, it was packed.  Good sign for a new place in a still developing area.

Yield features a nice, balanced assortment of organic wines, including some well-priced ones.  They also have some small plates of course to accompany your wine selection.  We tried several items over the course of the evening: the Sunchoke Parmesan Dip with Toasted Pinenuts was served warm and quite savory and delicious; the Parmesan-Crusted Tartine with Eggplant Confit, Goat Cheese, and Mint was its equal in satisfaction; and the Smoked Fish Trio and the Pcoc Dolce Chocolate Tiles were solid as well.

Service was friendly and generally attentive.  Nice place to check out if you're in the mood to explore something new.

I love this place!  I have been there twice and felt extremely welcome by the owner and staff.  Great choices of wine, and yummy appetizers.  I shared an eggplant tartine and a spinach dip with Parmesan crust with a friend, and would order it again in a heartbeat.  Great place to go to after work to wind down.  Love it!!

Yield is that rare kind of wine bar: All at once unassuming, accessible, uncrowded & reasonably priced. The kind of wine bar a non-snob can appreciate. They have handy 'nose/note' descriptions next to each selection. For example, the first glass I ordered used descriptors like "earth" & "barnyard" (or something like that). I ordered it mostly out of curiosity, & it was delicious. Your average snooty SF wine bar would never invoke horse poop & hay when describing a wine. One of the many reasons I liked Yield. Oh, & the service was friendly & attentive.

I'm not going to speak to the theory that the area around Third Street (AKA the Dogpatch) is entering a slow & beautiful cultural explosion. Let's let time & gravity show us how that goes.

These guys are SO GREAT.
Every time I go in there I swear, I have the best glass of wine I've ever had. I always bring my out of town visitors in because they are so close to my crib, and they NEVER disappoint.
They have salted chocolates on their menu right now, OUT OF THIS WORLD GOOD!

Stopped by for a glass of wine after picking up take out from Hard Knox a few doors down. Warm, friendly and inviting. The menu looks very appetizing and I am eager to go back next week to try a few items. Wine list is good and nothing over 11 a glass. I had an Argentine Viognier which was crisp and fresh and a little fruity, my friend had a Grenache that he raved over.

Cool place for a date, a rainy day. Cozy and inviting.

Coming from Pittsburg I'm not the biggest wine person and I could give a shit about my carbon footprint. That being said I really enjoyed this place and how they approach wine. Often times wine people and wine stores spend a lot of time staring in the mirror. This place gives you a fair look at things and gives you some ground. I was always told people who know dont say and people that say dont know. They tell you about wine but give you the space to ask questions without sounding like pretentious losers.

I almost don't want to write this review.  Yield is a rare gem and I don't want everyone and their brother stealing all the seats!  100 words or less:  Intimate, cozy, approachable wine list by the glass, even more approachable staff, Farmhouse-Modern decor (refurbished wood beams, counter, & tables, warm earth-tones, industrial location ... understated style.

The wine list is awesome.  Why?  Because each listing is accompanied by a great description.  Sometimes I wonder how anyone's palate could be that discerning (think 0.05 extra fine mechanical pencil graphite, sun-dried starfruit, , semi-dry peat moss... those are my own descriptions, but seriously some of the taglines are just as ..."obtuse"?  But I appreciate them A LOT.  My trouble in choosing, if I have trouble, lies in there usually being more than one that i want to wrap my lips around.  On that note, they are really generous with tastes.  And the pours are definitely more than the typical 5 oz pours at stingier establishments.

Yield is worth the drive to Dogpatch.  You won't have any trouble finding parking and you might fall in love just like I did.  I am smitten.

One random note: the bathroom is GIGANTIC!  And as cold as a meat locker!  Go figure.

Ventured into Dogpatch for the first time last night with Rachel F. to check out Yield...

This is a great little neighborhood wine bar.  The atmosphere is relaxed and professional...but not so much so that it's pretentious.  They play AWESOME music here and serve amazing wines that are all organic (for those of you whom that makes a difference for!)

Last night I had one of the best wine's I've ever had...which says a lot as I've tried a lot of wines.  It was the Sky Saddle Zinfandel ($14/glass).  What was interesting about this wine was that it didn't taste like a Zinfandel to me.  It was smooth and buttery, and delicious!  The bartenders were very attentive and friendly (especially since we kept hounding them to tell us the name of the bands that were on the iPod!) and overall, I really liked this joint.  I think if I lived closer I'd be here more often....but even so, I think Rachel F and I are planning on coming here more often!

And I can't wait to explore Dogpatch a little more....lots of interesting bars, bistros and cafes! :-)

Stopped by on rainy Friday at 9 or so, after open studios.

Sat in the window and had a few great glasses with a few friends. The wine really is over the top good for organic, I was expecting to be underwhelmed, and I was blown away.

The staff is easy on the eyes, well, at least our server was, though he lost a point for forgetting our food order.  Funny how the sexy ones can get away with that....

Good wine is so important, and may be found in many restaurants and wine bars in the city. However, service and knowledge are what matter most in a wine bar, and the service in this place has been spot on during all my visits. The owner (I assume) is knowledgeable and remembered the wine I liked and made some recommendations that he thought I would like. Its this type of service that left me pressed me enough to create a yelp account about!

I LOVE this place! It's across the street from my art studio and it's the perfect place to meet a friend and catch up with a glass of carefully chosen wine and some tasty nibbles after painting all day. I prefer it when it's not so busy, but at the same time I am happy to see them do well, so I don't wish slow nights on them.

The lighting, music, artwork, and sweetness of the owners are all just right. Great spot!

Don't ask anyone at Yield if they have any organic suggestions. The whole menu is organic!
Do ask them for suggestions. They know their stuff.

Don't stick your hand in the funny little firebox. It is real fire and will burn you.

Do lounge comfortably in the low black leather chairs. They are meant for taking a load off.

Don't use the bathroom for your own personal lounge. There's only one restroom available in the whole place.

Do order a few plates of food and share with friends. They're designed to share.

Cool place! Went here with colleagues after work. They have a nice wine menu, and a cool, chill, cozy interior. The staff is uber friendly and helpful and accommodating.

People don't give the Dogpatch enough credit, it is a cute little neighborhood and should not be overload. You can hop on the MUNI to get here.

Glasses of wine start at about $9, and average about $12 per glass.  They also served a handful of beers, too, if you aren't a wine drinker.

This is quickly becoming our (my husband and I) favorite spot for "date night."  We usually head out for dinner elsewhere and come here to extend our evening -- just long enough to be SURE the 'sitter has put both kids to sleep before we head home.

The service is prompt and friendly.  They have a great selection of Organic wines: red, white, ports.  Something for everyone.  Great music.

A great spot to go cuddle with someone or a small group of close friends.  No I don't mean cuddle in that way -- I meant in the Mom and Dad with 2 Toddlers kind of way....

We came here with about 15 friends for a get together and they accommodated us quite well as they don't take reservations for these type of events. They were really great and nice people.

The wines are nice and reasonably priced. I didn't think they were fantastic but were good and a very well rounded offering. I started with the Reisling and then jumped to the Malbec. The Malbec was my favorite on the menu. I also tasted the Zin, Syrah, Muscadet and others. I'm a big Zin & Petite Syrah fan but their Zin didn't do it for me.

Other stuff. Yield is a great place to sit around and have conversations with friends and sip fine wine. I agree the service is flawless-just there when you need it. The food menu is yummy, innovative & fresh (orange rinds and infused into my olives--cool!) Music selection was OK yet appropriate for the venue

I'm still waiting for a place in SF that is as fabulous as Eno in Chicago (One is said to be coming to Union Square) that has tons of amazing cheese, chocolate and wine. Now that is heaven! But more of Yield's atmosphere. (Yield please bring us more cheese and chocolate!)

All said, I would go to Yield again.

I love me a good wine bar- and this one was no exception.

Located on 3rd in the Dogpatch, Yield is nestled along a very unpopulated street. There is literally nothing around it and if you weren't looking for it you would drive right past it. It is however just around the corner from one of the best breakfast places called "Just for You Cafe."

When you walk in there is a small bar and the rest of the main room is filled with leather chairs and a few "trunks" to sit on. The next room has abut 4 or 5 tables; the rooms are both very dark.

I go back and forth between whites and reds but this time I tried a few of the whites and a glass of their sparkling wine.

First up was the Gamble Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc- SO light and not sweet- it was pretty good. You can do either a 2oz, 6oz or a full glass. I did 2 oz tastings and then a glass of the sparkling wine.

Next up was the Chardonnay/Viognier from France- another tasting wine that wasn't too heavy or oaky. Normally I am a fan of the more buttery chards but this one was light and I enjoyed it.

Next up- glass of the Pinot Blanc Reisling- I was happy with this and glad it wasn't too wine tasting. It was a nice fresh crisp glass that I enjoyed.

Now what would a wine bar be without some good food right? This place does not disappoint. Try the olives and the artichoke dip for sure. I did try the 3 fish plate that was good except the "blue fish" was too salty and not quite as good as the trout or salmon.

All in all I will visit this place again to enjoy some great food and great wine!

I liked the wine selections, the way they have things worked out, limited so it's not too overwhelming.  I hands-down did not like the overly salty nuts, brie with olive baguette and everything on the menu.  Pairing wines with food should be natural and easy.  Sweets are okay too.  Not everything including chocolate should be salty.

I will go back, but worried about the food for my tastes.  The price was right, very inexpensive and the 10 oz. half-carafe special of the day is awesome.

When I first thought about what to write for this review, I struggled with what makes one wine bar better than another. They all serve wine and I have to admit I'm not sophisticated enough to know what makes a spectacular wine list. They all serve cheese. Once again, I heart all cheeses. They all offer a dim-lit lounge-y ambiance. So I guess you have to dig a bit deeper to look at the little things.

At Yield, the service was ungodly good. We could call on any of the waiters to help us. They were attentive and replenished our bread when needed. And the best part was, I barely noticed they were there! I could focus 100% of my attention on the company at hand. Their location serves them well also because it never got crowded.

Eco-friendly wine. You know what? I think I CAN taste the difference. I love love love Petite Syrah and the glass I had to start was bold and full bodied, just the way I likey. Their port is also good. My friends are fans of white wines and they also enjoyed what they ordered. I wish they served more than just dips for their apetizer choices but simple is probably what they're going for their food options. I hear they change the menu every few days, which I thought was neat. The wine selections I ordered were pricey but for organic you get what you pay for.

We went on a Saturday night and it wasn't crowded, probably because of where it's located. There's plenty of room to sit and hang. In fact there was a party of 2 that eventually grew to 12 across the way from us and the waitstaff that night didn't seem to mind that more people kept coming. Interesting art selection too- along with the decor I felt like they were going for an industrial look. Pretty chill place.

Yum. The wines were great. I liked the bit of trivia about Syrah Palin, too. Did people actually not order the drink bc it sounded too much like the VP candidate? That's just silly.
Had the best glass of French wine, and their descriptions on the menu are perfect: Dusty, violet, etc. like nothing you'd see in a vanilla wine bar.
The plates were good; cheese plate was my fav.
The service was strange. He forgot a lot of our order and tried to play it off. Then he didn't want to retrieve the check, since they were closing, and asked me to bring it to him. It was fine, but a bit strange for the tip one might get on a $95 bill.

If a wine bar could be a dive bar, this would be it... :)

Not that there is anything wrong with that.  It is not a shabby dive, but a it simply has all the basics and little more: A bar, wine, stools, ambient music, and little eats.

Only been there once - sat at the bar - did not try any of the foods (although there were plenty of veggie options) - drank a little wine - chatted with the barkeep and the locals about he demise of the country the hope of a hew age and how we all need to support our local industry.

I'll drink to that!

Why I really like Yield:
1. Great wines (although they have a Palin Syrah apparently, which is not selling well. Ha!)
2. Nice staff - always ready with recommendations
3. Beautiful interiors with comfy, loungey chairs - if you go earlier in the day when it's still bright, it's awesome to sit next to those giant windows, sip on some wine, and be mesmerized by the traffic on 3rd St
4. REALLY nice staff - we had a small surprise gathering for my sis here (without really calling Yield to warn them ahead of time, shame on us) and the staff was so gracious about us bringing in a cake and providing us with plenty of plates and forks.
5. Cool fireplace (?) - you have to see it to know what I mean. It's like a little box in the wall, about torso height, with a little slot on top. And there's blue flame coming out of it. So neat!!
6. Did I mention the people there are super nice??

Loved it here. Thanks to all the great yelpers who recommend to go here before their dinner to Serpentine.
We got there on a Friday night around 6:30 and it was a great time. There were still plenty of places to sit.
We both ordered 2 2oz. glasses of wine along with the Trio of Nuts and a really good Crostini with a Lentil Spread. Very good.
There were so many great wines to choose from that I have to go back to try more of them.
Service was really great, very friendly and down to earth.
