Excellent service for a fast food place. They have some bomb ass lemon chicken, bomb ass "Super Gyro" sweet and sour sauce that dresses over their rice was off the hook! Their salads are fresh and crispy.

My 20th times here has always been treated as a first timer at this restaurant. The place is clean, plenty of parking area in the back, the people here are nice and friendly.

I would come to this place again and again! Good food yummy to my tummy! =)

One of my favorite Greek fast food places in the area. The gyros are really good - only thing I don't like is that they don't put feta on the gyros (I thought that was standard everywhere?) Usually I get a the gyro platter which comes with a side salad and I take the feta from that and put it on my gyro :) I think they put it on the super gyros though.

The fries are usually really yummy, but came here this week and they were really gross - greasy and soggy. I thought it was just a one time thing but from some of the recent reviews it sounds like these are the new fries.. Hope not.

Chocolate baklava is tasty. Prices are really cheap, service is quick. Gyros = 4 stars, other items = 3 stars.

The four stars are for the Gyros and the Gyros only. They are great, the accompanying sauces are great, and if they weren't ridiculously not good for you I'd eat them everyday.

As for the sides I've had, not so good. Want fries with that? No, you don't. I think they are just the frozen kind from the supermarket refried, but I'm not sure. Either way they are a disgrace to the French fry community.

The Greek Salad is really stretching the term salad and really isn't good or a good deal.

But stick to the Gyro a la carte and you'll be a happy camper.

Oh so amazing.  The 1/2 lemon chicken is so bomb, and such a good value.  Every time I go there, it takes me a long time to choose between all the delicious menu items.  For dessert, if for some silly reason you have room, get the baklava--it's heavenly, and I don't even use that word or believe in heaven.

Let me start off by saying that this place is f*cking awesome. I have been to a lot of "Falafel" stands and their Gyros suck.  Get the Super Gyro, they pile on extra meat. At Yiassoo, the meat has just the right amount of spices and is not dry. The funny thing is I have never seen a Greek working there. Yiassoo is the best Mexican made Greek food!!! Throw on the hot sauce and your set.  A Super Gyro on a Saturday cures any hang over.

I have bookmarked this place a long time ago to try, so since I was in the area today and needed to grab a quick lunch I stopped by.

First note - it's a good sign when a restaurant is very busy during Monday lunch in a recession and during noisy/dusty ongoing street construction.

I ordered chicken suvlaki sandwich to go.  Price w/ tax was $5.75.  While waiting for my food I kept seeing gorgeous plates of food being brought out and already decided that next time I will try the meatballs and the salad.  It also looks like they have some good daily specials.

My souvlaki was good, especially the pita.  The meat portion was generous, and the hot sauce I asked for was good. I could have done w/ a little less onions but overall I was very happy with my meal.  I will definitely come back.

The service was also very nice.  It's always good to see busy people smile when they give you your food.

Whoever said the Super Gyros are big enough for two people must have been my size, because my super hero was able to down one Super Gyro in 60 seconds. Plus a third of my regular sized gyro. I'm not kidding. But, yes, for most people, the Super Gyro is huge. I personally found my regular gyro to be more than I could handle. The pita was overflowing with meat, even with it being thinly sliced.

I got the combo meal, which comes with fries. They were nice thick and crispy fries - dip them in the tzatziki sauce, or even the Greek hot sauce. I smothered my gyro in that hot sauce, it was so yummy.

We also got one of the rolled baklavas with chocolate - I'd never had baklava like that before, and I really enjoyed it.

Oh, and did I mention, the prices are really cheap? $6.99 for a value meal which includes a regular gyro, fries and a fountain soda; $7.50 for the Super Gyro; $1.60 for a rolled chocolate baklava.

Sorry Opa, I've got a new gyro in Yiassoo!

Greasy cheap food which tastes ok. If you are  looking to develop a gut or maintain the one you have, visit this place often. :-)
I guess my tastes have changed. Processed foods, which are the reason they are cheap, have lost the allure.

Yesterday, when checking out the Yelp Ap on the iPhone, I saw that in my "Friends" category - my "Elite Mentor" Connie C - raved about Yiassoo.  I had heard a little about it in the past, but Connie's review made me want to try it now.  She said something like "move over Opa, there's a new best gyro in town."  Those were big words vs my favorite Greek spot.

I walked in and the friendly dude behind the counter took our orders.  I got the Super Gyro Combo - which is a large gyro, fries and Greek salad. Dude gave me the salad immediately, and it wasn't great.  It lacked freshness, but was aight.  A few minutes later, he dropped off the entrees and it was time for daddy to go to town.  The gyro was pretty huge - it was spilling out gyro meat, tomatoes and sauce.  I added some hot sauce and jumped in. It was a really good gyro, but I took the feta cheese off.  I like fresh crumbled feta, this was more like a "stick of feta."  It was hard and threw the gyro off.  Once I pushed it aside, I was a happy man.  The french fries were also damn good.  Served thick and piping hot.  I also had the chocolate rolled baclava - it was delicious as well.

However, the gyro isn't even close to Opa.  But I would definitely return - it is more like a "Greek fast food spot."  Good food and fair prices. Just a shade under 4-stars for me.

I have been going to Yiassoo for many years now. And while they have always offered a good alternative to fast food, I feel I have to comment on the new french fries they offer:

HORRIBLE.

I applaud them for finally switching to real potatoes from the crinkle cut version you can find in any grocery store. However, after my meal today, I was left wanting the old ones back.

The fries were extremely soggy from the oil and many were undercooked. Must not know how to calibrate that fryer for real foods. And by the way, while sized more like steak fries, they give you literally 10 FFs. Come on!

3 stars could have been 4, but the new fries are The Lose.

Three stars ...........
No place for Mona  :( minus a star for that one)

The Gyros were soooooo good a right size I was able to down with the quickness.....The gyro had lamb cucumber lettuce onions and some really good sauce which i wasn't famaliar with......I also ordered hummus which is my all time favorite snack I love the fact that they gave it to me in a container,,,,if I didn't finish I could take it home for later !!!!! two thumbs up!  with the hummus they also gave me pita bread ( not enough pita bread ).....the fallafel balls what a shame maybe because I am so custom to Falafel drive in that I expected the same quality or even better....nope ummm not even a 5 the falafel balls were too hard and the flavor wasn't what i expected i can't even describe the taste but the hardness of the balls were enough that tasting good wouldn't even mater.......

this is a sppot where i wil get a quick gyro for lunch really quick but for a craving ummmmm how about a no!

Still Yiasso I enjoyed your fantastic  Hummus and Gyros! And thank you for being soooo nice !

me, wifey and boston Biggie stopped by after a long day of shopping at ValleyFair Mall for some gyros. Big likes all places that are dog friendly and the seating outside was fine, except for the thin benches. he had a hard time keeping balance. the food was great I like the lamb and whatever mystery meat my wifey had. Big like mystery meat too. yeah and the blondest Greek guy I've ever seen did some good service and was very nice. Overall nice place to stop by yes it's a little pricey but it is not like its going to break the bank and if it does you should eat at home. going out might not be financially sound for you.

The gyros are very good, albeit a bit on the salty side if your diet doesn't have a lot of sodium in it. Very tasty! I wasn't prepared for the salad: it was a bowl of chopped vegetables, no lettuce. That said, it was also quite good.  The Gyro Plate comes with a generously-sized gyro sandwich, fries (some of the best around), and the aforementioned "salad".

The fried donuts are made to order, served in a puddle of honey and sprinkled with powdered sugar. My wife says they were delicious.

The order comes up pretty fast, no complaints there. I'd call this "family-run, quick serve greek food". Definitely a step about "fast food".

After one meal here, I can tell that Yiassoo's now one of my "regular" places.

French fries had more personality than the staff. Good parking, location and the place was clean. Gyro was OK if all you want is to be filled up. Sure don't get the attraction of these things. French fries were good and tasty however  the chocolate baclava seemed to be left over from a few days ago. Son and I may return to try other items but in no hurry. Average at best.

This place serves Greek fast food.

I usually get the gyro lunch special, which includes a gyro and a side of fries with a soft drink. I love the hot pita bread that my gyro comes on, and it's filled with delicious slices of meat, chopped onions and tomatoes, and sauce.

Warning: you will have major onion breath afterwards, so if you're planning on going back to work after lunch, bring an entire pack of gum.

The last time I went I also felt really dehydrated for the rest of the day. I'm not sure if my gyro was just particularly salty that one day, because usually I feel fine.

This place has fairly fast service and excellent gyros. The onion rings aren't bad either. The fries are only so so. It's a little too dry for my taste. The gyro costs $4.99 and is big. They serve all types of Greek food here from chicken to moussaka. The place is small but clean. There is plenty of parking in the back.

The only thing I've tried here that I don't like is the falafel. It's very dry and tasteless. Sorry to say this, but NO Greek place can make falafel well. I've yet to find a Greek place that does. Not even that Falafel Drive-In so many people like can satisfy me.

I guess it's because I've had the best falafel in the world in Israel so all falafel is merely just edible to me in the states. The falafel in the mall there is beyond good. I could eat it all the time and not get sick of it, it's that good! The second best falfel is one made from a store bought mix. My husband makes the second best falafel in the world. I guess being from Israel has something to do with it, lol.

Solid Greek fast food here.

I ordered the lamb plate; comes with 8 tastey pieces of lamb cooked quickly while you wait;  a pile golden fries with this mayonnaise blue cheese dipping sauce, fresh tomato salad that has some greek olives, red onion, a stick of feta cheese to nosh on. And six pieces of greek flat bread.
I'm going back. They have another restaurant on Calaveras , in Milpitas. Named Mikonos Grill. Equally good.

Customer service: fine.

This place has really good greek food for a fast food style place. Better than many of the greek restaurants I have been to. The Gyros is big and juicy with a good portion of feta. Frys are great too.

The service was fast and courteous. I have been here about 20 times and would recommend them again and again.

Well, need dinner last week Friday so I looked on Urban Spoon and found Yiassoo which was close to my house.  Called up and ordered take-out based on their menu I found online.  Went to pick it up and noticed that it was relatively empty....okay.  Saw a case by the register containing both regular and chocolate Baklava.  Decided to try the chocolate.  Paid the bill and went on my merrily way.  Decided to open up the two bags we had and sneak a peek at the food - noticed that we didn't have the calamari we ordered.  Had to go back.  Went inside told them my Calamari was missing.  Argument between workers ensued.  One worker stomped over to the cooler to take some calamari out and put it into the deep fryer.  Waited about 5 minutes then he shoved it into my bag....oooookay....(no apology or anything).

Got home starving and decided to dig in....thought - uhm....where's the flavor?  Added salt, pepper, ketchup anything I had.  Didn't finish it.  Got to the chocolate Baklava - ah, my savior.  Took a bite, uh...again no flavor....what the heck?!?

Decided at that point I wasn't going to go back....

Good Value, Fast and Addictive Greek Chow

Gyros Sandwich (I order it no onions and add feta cheese for .75 cents) $5.74 comes on the most fluffy pita, is a huge sandwich and ooooh I crave it weekly.   The Super Gyros can easily be cut in half and shared it's so big, and for $6.99 a great deal.

Spanakopita of super flaky filo dough filled with warm spinach and feta is also huge and easily shared for only $1.85.  This would make a great appetizer or side item.

Pita Bread is sooooo fluffy, soft and airy you can tell they make it fresh everyday.  The texture and flavor is so good.

Hummus (single size) is easily shared with 2-3 people and is up there with the tubs of Trader Joe's and Whole Foods hummus which I love.  I would just say get some extra pita bread if your sharing.

The only thing I've had here I can't recommend is the Falafel (side order or the sandwich) as the balls are overcooked and too dry every time I've attempted them.

The staff is super friendly and understanding that this is a paper plate and plastic tray fast food type of place they do a great job.

Dog Friendly - Two paws for a few tented cement tables out front, just watch the busy street.

Isn't it Gyronic? Don't ya think?

This review is based on one visit. I ordered the Supreme/Super Gyro. It was gyronormous -- tons of beef with diced tomatos, onions, and sour cream in a pita bread. Well, somewhat in. It was stuffed to the max resembling more of an open-faced sandwich. Pretty damn good, nonetheless. Add in a drink and a bag of fresh french fries and you have one hell of a meal for $10.

Clean store, friendly employees, and good food. Great little lunch spot. I will return to try the baklava.

I've been ordering the lamb souvlaki sandwich here for years. And I still think it's the best Mediterranean-style lamb sandwich in the area. There is always a generous amount of lamb cubes, cooked just right, not overdone. And the combination of succulent lamb chunks, tzatziki, onions, and soft pita bread is pretty magical.

Plus, the guys who run this place are super nice. And the fries are good, as are the gyros (for the rare times I don't order the lamb). Oh, and they carry pink lemonade Snapple. Hmm, perhaps I should give them 5 stars ...

"Another Greek joint!"

[First Impression]
It's relatively empty.

As soon as we arrived, others started to filter through the doors. Truth be told, we've had our fair share of Greek food and this was OK. The hummus was very thick in consistency; not the best I've had. However, the Gyro and fries was good. Again, nothing that you probably haven't had before if you'd had Greek food in your days.

[Suggestion]
*Super Gyro

[Tips]
Don't forget the sauces, spicy and yogurt, for your gyro.

I agree with Bart F. that it was more like an open-face sandwich. I was a little embarassed eating this. It wouldn't all fit in my mouth so there were pieces falling out and juices dripping everywhere.

I asked the lady what the difference was between the regular and super gyro, she said that super had more meat and feta cheese. I wanted the feta so I decided to super-size it.  But seriously, this really was super.

I actually stumbled across this place but I should've yelped first so that I wouldn't have been startled by the overwhelming portions.

Pita was nice and thick, the food came out piping hot and I swear my food came right after I sat. My only gripe is that the white sauce they provided was more like ranch than tzatziki. I dunno maybe they intended to make it taste like ranch... Fries are FROZEN from a bag which makes me wonder why everyone says they're so good

In case anyone is wondering they do take AMEX but not Discover.

Oldie but goodie. Used to go there all the time when I lived closer. Was driving by Yiassoo this weekend and had to stop by for old times sake after around 8 years. They still had the same cashier. Reminded me of Nat from the Peach Pit in 90210...Maybe not.

They still have great food. The top two gyros I have ever had. The super gyros has a lot of meat, feta cheese and other goodies. The spanakopita and falafel were really good too. I highly recommend this place.

I usually don't really eat Greek food, but this place is good!  My co-worker suggested we eat dinner here, and I was a bit skeptical due to the older looking building and the crappy looking menus.  But hey, it was really good!

We got the veggie platter that had different dips, bread, and falafels  to share, and I got this half chicken and salad dish of some sort due to my attempt to eat healthy.  I really liked the veggie platter and the bread (oh my goodness, it was so fabulous, and I'm not even a fan of bread), but my chicken wasn't really that great.

So next time, order something Greek, and you'll get a big serving of yumminess!

What is the difference between a gyro, gyro plate, combo gyro, combo gyro plate and super gyro plate?

They gotta put a description next to the menu items.  I opened to the super gyro plate because I wanted to "super" my meal and try everything....kinda like supersizing your meal at McDonalds.  I forgot that this place didn't offer rice, but instead french fries.  The super gyro plate is a gyro wrapped in a pita bread, small greek salad and fries.  I can only imagine that the gyro plate, combo gyro, gyro plate maybe comes with/without fries and/or salad.

The gyro was overflowing with goodies...delicious!  It came with a white sauce, cucumber, tomato and lamb meat.  The lamb gyro meat had good flavor.  Fries were fresh, but your ordinary fries.  Salad had huge chunks of tomato, cucumber, couple pieces of feta cheese and couple of olives.  The pita bread was nice and fluffy..mmm... I don't care for the hot sauce, a tad too smoky for me.

It took me three meals to polish off that gyro.

I've not had many chances to try Greek food and probably wouldn't consider myself much of a fan.  But Yiassoo definitely opened up my eyes a bit to the cuisine.

It all started when I was working hard, missed lunch, and someone offered me some of their food from their conference.  Yiassoo had catered and the spread was impressive.  Gyros, pitas filled with both meat and chicken, baklava and more.

The take home point: It was all delicious.  The pita bread was moist, the meat was succulent, and the ingredients were fresh and top notch.

I decided I had to go to Yiassoo and order some of their food for myself.

Being as I'm not too familiar with Greek cuisine, I wanted the catered item that I had tried with both beef and chicken.  I assumed it was a gyro, but the menu didn't have meat selection options.  The super gyro was another option and according to the cashier just included more meat and feta cheese.  I played it safe and went with the regular gyro (~$5.95)and didn't specify a meat (can you?).

A few minutes later, my order was up.  The serving size, given the lack of "super"-ness," was happily generous.  I looked at all the meat I had received and pondered just how much meat the "super" could have.

I took a bite and enjoyed.  Nice fresh tomatoes.  Soft pita bread.  And perfectly grilled meat slices.

My only complaint, and this is related to my ignorance of Greek food, is that I found the meat very gamey.  If I'm not mistaken, I'm guessing it was lamb meat.  While it didn't detract from the overall experience, I think I would have liked the gyro much better with chicken or beef (like I had when they catered).  If someone can educate me, please do.

Overall, a good quick bite stop and definitely beats hamburgers and fries.  BTW they accept credit cards, but I forgot to check about Amex.

Gyros, thick fries, and service --what more could you want if you're looking for grease?  One thing to note is you may need a few extra napkins.  The gyros and other fare are juicy (or is this just grease), plus there is an assortment of sauces: ranch/yogurt sauce (not the normal greek yogurt with cucumber sauce), some spicy salsa-like sauce, and another that I'm not quite sure how to describe.  Either way, all three are pretty decent.  Food is definitely piping hot, and comes quickly.  Each order is given priority in the order in which it was received, so you never sit there wondering, "why'd the guy after me get his order first?".  The owner is good about service and so are the servers/cashier.  The food was reasonably-priced and hit the spot.  This is a place for a quick lunch gathering with co-workers or friends.

I just didn't have the energy to drive an extra four miles out to Falafel Drive In, so I decided to hit up Yiassoo on my way home on night. First of all, except for one pre-pubescent employee, no one there understands what "no dairy" means. I wasn't going to argue with woman there, but she ended up not putting any sauce on my falafel because she couldn't tell me if they put dairy products in their tahini sauce (most places don't, but who knows...). So they gave me a dry falafel sandwich that I had to doctor up with hummus when I got home.

Then, there was no one ordering ahead of me, but apparently they had a massive to-go order phoned in and it took like 15 minutes for them to make me a small falafel sandwich. I'd left my dog in the car and was really starting to get irritated about how long it was taking them.

Yiassoo earns like three stars for their pita bread--soft, thick, and moist. For some reason, their falafels were spicy (must be an ingredient in the falafel). I prefer red sauce, so I can control the spiciness. The falafel sandwich itself was prepared open faced. I had to eat it like a pizza, which kind of sucked because everything kept falling out and making a mess. Overall, aside from the mild spiciness, it just didn't have much flavor.

I really had higher hopes of Yiassoo. I'd had dishes at the Cupertino location before and loved them. But the falafel sandwich was a disappointment, as was the extremely long wait for a small to-go order.

3.5 stars.
Come here early for lunch or else it could get crowded.
Portions are huge and messy, but yum!

I'm impressed that the cook (who didn't take our order) remembered every person's face and order! He delivered our plates to us in the crowded seating area-- it's not like we had an order number.

This place reminds me of Wally's in Emeryville.

I've been here once so far and I would definitely come back. I had the gyros last time, and it was pretty tasty.

I'd probably go with a falafel next time since that's my preference when it comes to Greek/Mediterranean food.

But it's a cute, clean little place with nice service and nice atmosphere.

This place used to be a favorite cheap and fast Medditteranean place of mine. Until, of course, the manager (only man in dress shirt and tie) tried to rip me off at the register!

Beware: If you order a la carte... Make sure you keep tabs on what they charge you in comparison to the menu.

For instance, I ordered 2  (small) chicken souvlaki skewers without the fries. In the past, I was charged around 2 dollars for them. My last visit here he charged me 4.95! Which is more than what the menu stated as 2 skewers WITH fries! Absolutely RIDIC!!! Also, I asked for a simple green salad w/o tomatoes for about 2.50 and he charges me around 5 bux for a Greek salad which is primarily made with tomatoes!

When I pointed this discrepency out to him he tried to laugh it off and blame it on the register. Really guy? Really? I showed him the prices on the menu and he gave me a dollar back. Ugh.

Other than the shi**y service. The food was on hit.
