540 Fulton StYes Boutique is Fulton Mall at its best (or worst, depending on your point of view, and the worst of Fulton Mall is, duh, the best). My friend used to call it "the Jamaican store" for the full-body-length whalenet dress she bought to wear when she was in a frisky mood. That was in the early 90s and when Salt N Pepa were the cutting edge in urban fashion.
Yes Boutique has thankfully modernized, and is now the place to go when in need of a last-minute outfit to wear to a club or party. All urban brands are here, from Rockafella to Baby Phat to Mekka Femme to Akademics and so on. But in addition, there is the no-name stuff that is what ghetto fab shopping is made of.
Dresses for $20, tops for $12, any and every trendy piece you will ever want, Shearling jackets in winter, hoochiewear in summer, corny but potentially impactful lingerie around Valentine's Day, and even some shoes in the back. There are only three dressings rooms which are tiny, and on weekends, there will be a wait.
Leggings, shrugs, day-glo 80s-inspired trends, skinny belts, tunics, anything and everythign ruched, all that modal drapey crap that falls apart after three washings: it's all here girls, come and get it. Conveniently located one block from most major train lines (2/3/4/5/N/R/Q).
