This was my third Yelp elite event since moving to NY but my first in the City and I must say, my favorite by far! When I found out this event was at a brewery I expected a more casual atmosphere with nothing but beer but I was pleasantly surprised! Not only was Heartland Brewery a nice place, but they were also serving wine and shots of Jager milkshakes (although I stuck with the wine). The food was awesome! My personal favorite were the mini Kobe burgers and of course, the cupcakes!

The best part of the evening was meeting some cool new Yelpers (Scott H., Brooke C., and Kali B.)! I can't wait till the next NYC event!! :)

Fall beer, bass & tuba music , sausages, fried pickles, pastries, Jagershakes, Peter D in a Lederhosen and Jane K in a cute skimpy Dirndl...I thought I died and went to heaven or a really f*cked up Hell.

Then, Oriana snapped me out of it with a tit bump greeting. At that moment, I had a feeling this was going to be a good night.

Some things to keep in mind for Elite events:

*Note the  door where the food comes out of the kitchen first and stay close. Those
platters disappear faster than the lunchboxes!
*The food portions are small, but the explosion of deliciousness in your mouth will not be
*Being a +1 is better than being a #2 (Thanks James F.!)
*It was totally Oriana that grabbed your butt, don't look at me!
*John N. actually points to his crotch
*Expect to do bourbon shots when Kelly S. is in the room
*If you have anemia, watch out for Lisa A.'s pokes because they hurt like hell and bruise next morning
*Nametags + Identity Crisis= FUN! I had a blast being Ivan C., Andre L., Dan I., Pearl M., Gabi SM...
*Don't bike home from any Yelp event. Take a cab or carry your bike through the
subway. DWI's on bicycles are as embarrassing as going to white collar prison.
Ask Rod for a ride next time.

Finally, there is seriously some crazy going on in your heads with you guys. Don't.Ever.Change.

If anyone *really* knows me...they know my love of Clark Griswold and all things "Vacation," most notably, the movie, "European Vacation." If you know the movie, I don't need to refer to what part I'm speaking of at this juncture.

::Cue Peter D. in his lederhosen.::*

After seeing Peter...this is THE one event where I regret not bringing my camera.

Dammit!

Did I really eat two cupcakes and two pieces of pie from Little Red Hen? (Jaysus, I'm ashamed)

Yes, yes I did.

Did I do a shot of Jameson with a few fellow Jers?

Yes, yes I did.

Did I stand next to John N. in awe of the uber nerd (ongoing) computer debate between Michael F. and Joey Bones?

Yes, yes I did.

Did I have a glass of Shiraz and 1/2 pint of pumpkin ale (after pre-gaming it with Miss C. and K. at a wine bar)?

Yes, yes I did.

Did I talk to Lisa D....and discuss this other supposed "Lisa A."?

Yes, yes I did.

Did i enjoy a fried pickle and then accidentally (and unknowingly) dip it in a bacon flavored dressing?

*gag!*

Yes, yes I did.

Was I happy to see Roddy drink a tiny Jagermeister milkshake in a wee beer stein with his pinky up as if he were drinking high tea?

Yes, yes I was.

Was I happy to get a hug from Oriana?

Why, yes. Yes I was.

I was very happy to see all my Yelp peeps. You know who you are.

I'd never been in this Heartland Brewery before....only the Union Square location, and I must say it's quite vast. Kudos to the staff for being efficient and on top of things. And a big hug to Hansel and Gretel, aka, Peter D. and Jane K. for putting the event together.

Oh, and PS- where's my lunchbox?? I didn't get one.
::sobs::

*Oh, get over yourself, I'm not in love with you Peter. Jeesh.

Peter D organized a sausagefest. Shocking.

*I know Jane was the brains behind the whole operation but she's too classy for me to use in a sausagefest joke.

Simple fact: rod is an idiot.

I deleted my original write-up, because I, numbskull that I am, did not pay full attention to the greatness that is Jane. I know, stupid! Did y'all see how cute she looked last night? Oh my wordness.  Besides, there are only so many times I can quote Kevin Smith in my scribble that pass off as reviews.

Simple fact: rod is way too cool for school.

Not really, but I do have Steve to thank for this "moment of coolness." We were all sitting outside, snickering at the people who were standing on line. At first, we all thought they were tourists, because a line out the door for Heartland Brewery is somewhat of a regular occurrence. Weird, right? but Steve, wearing a black Arthur Fonzarelli leather jacket looking all cool and shite, took us INSIDE the Empire State Building, where we all entered through the side entrance. Thus we cut the line. Oh, more on that to follow.

Simple fact: rod does not stand on lines

After checking in with Herr Peter, we had to stand on another line to get nametags. I was stuck at the top of the staircase when I saw Josh, Dana and Natalia. Seeing this as an opportunity, I again cut the line and, like Bob Uecker before me, proceeded to the froooont row.  And there I got a most delicious hug from Jane. That's okay, she and I were both under the weather, so our respective germs would've offset anything we could catch anyway.

Simple fact: rod likes free shwag

Let's fact it: I'm Asian so that automatically means I'm frugal. And when an opportunity for things I don't have to pay for comes up, I'm all over it like an egg on sizzling sisig.  Cupcakes from Two Little Red Hens (hi Sienna), veal and pork sausages with sauerkraut, Pumpkin and Champagne Ales, sliders that I devoured as if I were John Belushi in "Animal House", and last but not least Jaegermeister Shakes. I felt like George Michael in a men's room at a road stop: i was that excited over the unknown possibilities.

Simple fact: rod is back off the wagon

Yes, I know i'm receiving treatments every two weeks. And the medication pretty much kicks my ass for the next five days after. But come on, Champagne Ale that blended perfectly with the sliders. Pumpkin Ale that blended perfectly with the cupcakes. Jaegermeister Shakes that blended perfectly with my ability to actually talk to women. How great is alcohol?!?!?

Simple fact: rod misses the old crew

Last night was a night of celebration. Not only did I run into Michael F, whom I had not seen in months, but also the aforementioned Dana, Josh and Natalia. Also saw Joolz, Maria and Nina, whom I had not seen in almost 7 days. But the old guard was also there: Arnab, Edward with the Artichoke boys, and best of all SRINI! R and T were in the back corner, as always. Even Gourmet G. took it upon himself to make an appearance. Okay, I kid about that but it felt like a mini-reunion up in there.

Simple fact: rod bin ein Berliner.

PS hi peter.

This review is gonna keep in the tradition of the previous event review where I change up the lyrics to a infamous song...
this events song is gonna be my remix to Notorious BIG's hit, " Nasty Boy" (Youtube link: http://www.youtube.com...)

Uhh
the line went....
on and on and on and,
Spotted Peter D in leder-hosen,
Yelp Nemesis called my phone, then
told me he already in Heartland
I didn't....dress....to impress
But Brian H still stared at my breast
booze is all I expect
but we got muchies, the best
I know
I know, with Yelpers on the floor
Those yummy lil snacks will be no mo'
Won-der-ing how long I can get my drank-on
Before I know it, 2 Berry ales GONE!
Back of my mind I wanna swallow
All the sliders the law will al-low
See a plate, filled with cupcakes
Just remembered, I got to be to work by eight
This just mean I ain't tryin to wait
I conversate, and load up my plate
Jager-shake
You know what they did to me?
Fried pickles...well, I don't usually
but I........ try them out,
delicious, no doubt
Fresh out, the lunch boxes....so I bounce.

Highlights:

- Pumpkin cheesecakes. Good lord, they were delicious. Just so you know, Melissa Z and I ate 6 of them between the both of us.
- Being ass-grabbed by lady O.
- Brian H's hug.
- Meeting fellow hospital peeps!
- Having the honor of Alex I as my +1.
- Hanging out with both of my "L" girls at one event.
- Some very attractive male yelpers... nice eye candy!
- Peter D in lederhosen. (I mean, talk about eye candy...)
- Meeting lovely new yelpers, and seeing lovely old yelpers!* Always great.

Lowlights:

- Having to leave early.
- A certain someone's accidental bacon ingestion.

Dimmer switch:

- Those strange little potato chips. I still can't decide whether or not I liked 'em.

--------
* By "old" I don't mean age-wise. For example, I recently celebrated James F's 25th birthday with him!

Jane & Peter - ya'll done did good, and the proof is in my pumpkin flavored hangover.

...and in the amount of asses I grabbed (Seriously, too many to count. I think I need a sexual harrassment defense attorney now...)

...and the pumpkin cheesecakes/beers I ate/drank.

...and the drunken conversations/hugs I shared.

...and the Jager milkshakes I drank.(Real talk - what's that recipe? I want that in mah mouf ALWAYZ!!!)

...and my excitement regarding my lunchbox.(I haven't owned one since my 'Lady and the Tramp' one broke back in daycare.)

...and the drunken polka my boy did to the German brass band.

...and the fried pickles I OM-NOM-NOMed.

...and the bus stops I missed (Yeah, I 'fell asleep' on my way home, and had to walk back 5-6 blocks.)

But it was worth it...if only to witness the lederhosen.

I have been so busy that I didn't get to RSVP. Luckily the Lovely Oriana J asked me to be her plus one.  When I walked in the lovely Jane K. insisted she didn't wanna get me sick...but I went to hug her anyway...cause she's worth it...

Payam and George were nice enough to take me straight to the good stuff, angus burgers...and fried pickles...the food was great!  There was beer, wine, and all sorts of yummy pumpkin cheese cake!  I did not drink that much but what I did was good: Jaeger Milkshakes.

I got to meet a lot of new nice Yelpers.  I even got to meet Nic B's sister.  Seeing Peter's outfit (lederhosen) was priceless.  I now know that women want him no matter what he is wearing...must be nice to have fans...There was plenty of eye candy, they even brought Monica and other Yelp ambassadors up.  Ki was nice enough to keep me company at times...Overall it was a great event.  There was a friendly vibe and the Heartland Brewery was a good venue.

Shout out to my server Susan, I think it was Susan, who hooked me up with some pretty pretty good sliders and the girl with my favorite dish of the night - fried pickles who I think by the end of the night was following me.

I put a fried pickle on a slider and i left Earth.

All the food was good and the beer was on point.

Meaningless complaints: My milkshake was too small and the sausage servings weren't big enough but whatever they were both off the heezy.

Too all the yelpers who cut in line, I know who you are and I'm coming to where your eating dinner to steal your food.

And the perfect end of the night was Brian H. rhyming outside. Also want to shout out Brian & Aaron who help me get my hustle on, no homo.

This was my favorite Elite event so far.  The place was spacious and there was enough food going around not to turn people into raving piranhas.  And the food selection was well-balanced with equal parts meat and dessert.   What?!  The food pyramid is WRONG.

I have to say last night was the first time I realized what an eclectic mix of people we Yelpers are.  At my table, there were folks who:

intern for a cupcake blog (sweet!)

supply clothing to prisons (scary!)

fix luxury cars (handy!)

play bass for orchestras (super-sonic!)

look for healthcare fraud (snoopy!)

work in weapons development (gulp!)

From all different walks of life and all fun to hang out with.   This is what makes the Yelp community so great!   Looking forward to meeting some cowboys and astronauts at the next event!

Do you know how I know this was a great time? I know it was because when I caught the D train home to Brooklyn, I woke up long enough staring at a strange, unfamiliar exit to recognize that I had completely missed my stop and was well into the heart of Brooklyn.

I blame you, Jane. And I couldn't be happier.

I was worried when we were waiting in line that there would be no possible way to fit all those Yelpers and their +1s and +2s into what looked like a tiny bar space. And what were all those people doing eating dinner? There's no way they're going to like what's going on when we get to the second or third glass of Heartland Brewery's delicious pilsner.

But all my worrying was for not once I saw Peter D. in his lederhosen and Jane in, well, whatever is the female version of lederhosen (y'all both looked great). There was a huge downstairs area at  this HB which had all the space we could possibly hope for with big booths for more intimate conversations or big, open spaces where we could all stand and chat and meet new folks.

I met some new friends, caught up with a lot of old ones and had a marvelous time and was seriously impressed by everything Heartland Brewery offered, from the beer and Jaeger milkshakes to the fried pickles and little sliders. Oh, and the people were awesome, too.

Just a great, great time. My favorite Manhattan elite event ever.

I was having such a wretched week so far, so I was counting on this event to lift my spirits and give me that vim and vigour to get me through to Friday.

And yes, I could count on Yelp, Peter, Jane and crew to deliver. And in Bavarian garb no less. Hot Damn!

My +1 (http://www.yelp.com/us...) had never been to an event and she was so impressed by the organization, the ambiance and the fact that there was just so many pretty people in attendance. Good job!

Thanks to Paul C. for directing us to the Jaeger Milkshakes, which were exactly what a milkshake should taste like. This, along with the Heffeweizen (meh) and the Champagne Ale (*drool*) made the evening even better. Throw in a quick snack of fried pickles and a delicious little cupcake = de-wretched me. I have been to this Heartland before and now I know I am coming back. Those fried pickles were fantastic!

And as for you, you people that I interacted with, all I can say is, thanks for the ass-grabs (OJ), the hugs (all you know who you are), the kisses (you know who you are as well), the manhandling (I'm looking at only YOU Chun) and the general good cheer. I was much cheered up and more than happy to join the rest of the rabble at the, err, "after party".

(Thanks for the shout-out Pat! I am preparing my liver for Dec 15th!)

Huzzah!

When beer makes things hazy~.

I see someone out of the corner of my eye. They keep looking at me. They can't be looking at me. I don't know them. They're waving. I turn around to see who's behind me. No one. Okay, they're still waving.

When you drink enough beer to make you act like a madwoman~.

Hey I think that's Heather. Hey Heather. That looks like Heather. Hi Heather. She's staring at me like I'm crazy. Hey Heather come here. Ha ha. She looks frightened. Let me wave my arms in the air like a psycho. Yeah you! I know you! Stop pretending you don't know me. I know you!! I'm going to get up and walk to her table.

When you realize the madwoman is not a beer haze~.

Oh my god. She's coming to my table. Oh my god she's coming for me.

Heaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaathhhhher! Heather H it was so cool to finally meet her outside of the woods. We hugged. We cried. She introduced me to her hubby. It was like a family reunion.

YelptoberFest was amazing. Heartland Brewery was amazing. Pretty classy too since I had dumbed it down to a TGIF.

What a night. With so many people in the room it was comforting to be part of a Yelp family. My tiny table of four turned into a table of 14 at one point. Octomom's got nothing on me.

Air kisses to the following:

Oriana J- I have a fan! I have a fan! A real sweet fan!
Jim U- What took you so long to get to my table? You're awesome.
Tony C- Thank you so much for taking care of my +1. I owe you burger. I owe you burger big time.

I never saw my +1 that night. YelptoberFest was huge and if you mingled well enough you didn't see a lot of people until the end of the night. Till next time folks.

*So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, adieu
Adieu, adieu, to yieu and yieu and yieu.*

*That's me sandwiched between Peter D and Jane K singing the sound of music. I know the movie took place in Austria but they did film in Germany. Did you see those guys? Talk about trendsetters. HOT! Peter was so concerned I'd go out and copy his fit that he wouldn't even tell me where he shopped. Paranoid~. Thanks for a fabulous time. Let's do it again soon.

It's not everyday I get up to tourist central, and hang for some
brew-skies...   but a yelp party makes it all OK!

Of course this was more than ok.  Since I haven't seen yelpers for a LONG time, oh since the water taxi beach party, it was great to see so many faces again.

Well the beers on tap were great, and there were lots of cute faces, new and old.  Plus some cupcakes and cheesecake to munch on...

When you are a Yelp elite in NYC, life is not good.

IT IS GREAT.

I loved the venue the Yelp team picked -- the space was really roomy with lots of tables for sitting and mingling and drinking. The drinks were great - the smiling pumpkin ale was good, as were the wines that were available. Overflowing beer = happy times.

The sausages, pretzels, kobe beef sliders, salmon cakes, and ALL the food was delish!!

And the Two Little Red Hens desserts were amazing - loved the pumpkin cheesecake and the teeny tiny chocolate cupcakes with raspberries. Too cute. And left me feeling totally gluttony, but it was so worth it.

Thanks to the Yelp team for putting this great event together. Peter D. -- you looked fabulous in your outfit tonight. ;)

The welcomed de-virginization to the Yelp Elite came tonight.  I was scared, awkward and a bit panicked about showing up at Heartland Brewery +0, but nevertheless I persisted in my plight to reach adulthood or Yelphood.

I was shocked by the length of the line when I arrived around 7:05.  I questioned the facts and walked all the way to the front until I saw Yelp sweatshirts and immediately went back to the end of the line as not to look to eager for my first time.  I waited patiently until I was checked in and directed to the basement.

My much anticipated meeting with the very famous Jane K. passed in a nano-second as did she, but not without me noticing the outfit and realizing that these nights must be a nightmare for her and Peter D.  I did make contact with Peter D., outfit and all, before gaining access to the lower lair and he was very cool, outfit and all.  In the end, the Yelp team did a great job tonight and I was very impressed.

I saw a lot of food, but was not aggressive enough to actually eat any.  I did watch a plate of Kobe burgers disappear right before my eyes in less than a minute though.  While watching everyone else eat I was savvy enough to grab a couple IPA's and a couple Heffeweitzens (sp? after event), which were nice.  The staff was friendly and accommodating the whole night.

In terms of people, the elite of Yelp, my contact was minimal as I am far from outgoing and prefer to just stand there rather than approach some person I have never seen other than in a tiny thumbnail photo.  But, Chun L. was very friendly and broke the silence of me holding up the bar.  Then I met some other nice Yelpers from Connecticut and then Peter D. helped me out and introduced me to Abigail M., who saved my night and awkwardness all at once.  I had a great time talking to both her and Danny P. among others.

No question this event was a success.  Strong venue, great amenities and ample space to drink, eat and interact.  Heartland Brewery was a great host and I will definitely come back and experience this place sans Yelp Elite free beer.

This was my first Elite event and it was awesome, as expected!  Great food as usual, the sliders, pretzels, tuna and sausage were amazing.  The jager shakes were unexpectedly delicious!   It was blended perfectly and not too strong.  Desserts truly made the night.  There were still plenty of chocolate cupcakes and pumpkin cheesecakes! I loved the fruit pie, this was truly one of my favorite pies.

It's too bad I didn't see the lunchboxes.  I was one of the first ppl in line but didn't roam around until much later.

It was a great space and venue to have YelptoberFest - didn't realize downstairs was that big!  The band also made it feel very festive.

Thanks Peter and Jane! Loved the outfits!

More like 4.5 stars, but seriously I'm not going to complain; especially if this is going to my last Elite Event for a while.

Cupcakes were good, the Pumpkin Pie was better.

Smiling Pumpkin Ale was good, the Snake Oil Shakes were better.

Jager & Ice Cream was awesome, guzzling wine was better.

The hilarity of Peter D. in lederhosen was good, Jane K. in whatever she had on...you guessed it, better!

Over...yet under-seasoned chips were good, deep fried pickles were better.

Surreptitiously avoiding the line was good, walking outside for a smoke and bumping into my +1, Anna J. was better.

It was great to see everyone, but my head hurts too much to start writing down names...you guys know who you are.

Oh yeah, after-party at Playwright (when I got there like an hour late) and Ella was good; finishing the night at Fish Bar was was better.

Peter D. in lederhosen.

That was going to be my whole review. I mean, really, what more needs to be said? What else was there?

Sure, there were Two Little Red Hens cupcakes and pies, sausages, Jaegermeister milkshakes (which I skipped, wisely I think), beer, pretzels, an Oompa band, fried pickles, beer, sliders, tuna, and beer. And there were a  bunch of awesome Yelpers to which I said "hi." And I got to meet Jonathan G., whom I promised to take to the best brunch place ever. And Danny P. got drunk. And Colleen L. and I had a good ride home on the N. And Adam R. ate his right leg's weight in said sliders. And Nic B. yell-hugged me.

And Jane K. was in a dirndl.

But none of that matters because Peter D. was in lederhosen.

Oh wait... can someone please tell me why the paramedics were called?

An absolutely perfect Yelp event!
Shoutouts go to the awesome Peter D and Jane, and let's not forget about the rest of the behind the scenes team including the list ladies and Paul R (too bad he wasn't DJing!)

The hors d'oeuvres were aplenty (the tuna what's-it-called was great!), the drinks were aplenty more. For the first time, I shamelessly drank jagger, beer, and even wine in the same night. Special shout out here goes to Adam from Heartland staff for serving up some great drinks! Another special shout out should goes to the gals from the Two Little Red Hens bakery; I'll be seeing you soon ;P

As for the main attraction of the event, the yelpers! It was a pleasure meeting so many new people for the first time. From the mysterious  cool sticker dude Zack H to Lis, the first Buffalo native to admit Toronto is better! From the 'friends' supporting Arsenal and Man U (wtf?) to Jim U who I learned one should not mess with! From Lisa A to whom I did not keep a promise and Cara A who is one of the cooler people to work at the same place as I! Thanks to Jamel and George for keeping things in check! And as for the rest o' y'all! I had a blast and hope to see you soon

peace out!

My IRL friend was impressed by the free beer, pretzels, and sausages, and so was I.

But after seeing Jane K's German barmaid outfit I can only ask, "Jane K., will you marry me...or at least serve me a huge stein of beer?"

Wednesday was such a hectic day for me - I woke up at 6 am that morning to rush to meet Meow and S up for this sample sale while my body was sore as hell from my weekly boxing class.

Eh, the day drag on and Meow and I was so tired but unlike Meow - I had no chance to take a nap. I wanted to go to sleep, but suppose to meet Tree Sap there and so I didn't want to cancel out on my friend.

Meow and I hauled our butt up to meet the on-time arrival Tree Sap.
As we walked down the whirl staircase and WHOA, I didn't know Yelp was going to go all out for this Yelptober Fest.

I have to say Jane K. was the hottest chica there! She's absolutely the cutest thing and such a lovely girl. WOooo Hooo

As for Peter D. - awwwwwwww he was a good sport for wearing them knee high socks! They kept falling down, you should had invest in sock garter to keep those suckers up!

Meow, Tree Sap and me sat in the corner booth.
Tree Sap was obsessed with those chips but she managed to part ways with them and settle down with some Shiraz.

T, again didn't want to tell me that she would come to the event. She secretly wants to see if I would manage to become this social butterfly that is totally out of my character, when she's not around. However the massive crowd was preventing her on surprising me - she had to texted me to find my location. Before doing that, T asked Rod A. if he had seen me and since Rod A. is such a s*** talker, he replied back and said, Ro is probably in some dark corner by herself.

Ha! Rod, you were wrong - I was not by myself in a dark corner, I was with Tree Sap and Meow.

Moving on, we all stayed in our little corner booth and sipping on our wine and a few appetizers.

Fried Pickles - Tree Sap and I were hooked on this!
Bratwurst and sauerkraut - Meow loved this, seriously she has 4 plates to prove this! Aww, me loves her!
Pretzels - eh, plain ol' pretzels, nothing special unless you were a carb whore.
Sliders - were they kobe? They didn't taste like kobe to me!
Cupcake - whoa, too rich for my blood! Took one small bite and had to drop it.
Cheesecake - good but the last two bites made me sick. Sorry not a fan of overly rich or sweet things!

The bartender from Florida was pretty damn nice - my friends thought he looked like a younger version of Bill from True Blood. T and I didn't agree.

On to the people...

Phong-Lan - eeks, didn't know she was the one that needed the EMT. Ha, thank God it wasn't me. Bummed to know that I didn't try any Jager Milkshakes! Booooooooooooo
I owe her an apology for not being able to talk to her, I was in the midst of finding my other half, since that was the time when T was looking for me in the sea of people.
SO SORRY - I didn't mean to come off as cold or not interested in talking to you!

Joy C and Lainy C - Didn't really get to hang out with them much this time since I didn't move from my spot. I couldn't manage to walk being so sore and trying to be like a big girl by walking in heels.
Bad combo! They wanted to move around and look for eye candy.
Next time, I'll walk around more when I am not so dang sore. But hellos, me love you ladies!

Brian M. - ummm, he was pretty giggly and I think he was really drunk.

Ben...yeah, don't remember his last name but he hung out with us the entire time. I think he was trying to kick it to Tree Sap. He's really nice on trying to help my Tree Sap on scoring a lunch box. Too bad, he failed! Boo, if I knew Tree Sap would have wanted one, I would have took one for her. Damn it to hells!

Srini V. - Brief encounter...sorry, I was already getting pretty Zzzzzzzzzzzz and wasn't feeling chatty!

Rod A. - always a pleasure even if he talks all that mess! FYI: I like to stay in dark corners to prevent me from having to cut anyone for spilling drinks or doing anything that would annoy me.

Jim U. - He wouldn't give up his lunch box for my Tree Sap. WTF! Gosh, a real Southerner Gent would totally have part with it for a lady. Instead, he held it for insurance because he said if he didn't have it we would never have spoken to him. We all agreed that he should had pass the metal tin to my friend.

Nina C. - I don't think I was ever formally introduced to her! She was holding onto that lunch box like she did her dear life. She's a lady so we didn't harass her box for Tree Sap! She's sweet!

Joolie - FINALLY had the pleasure to meet this vocal lady. She was glam up for this occasion. Awww, made me wish I had the time to get dolled up. She's so funny!

Zack? - Joolie's boo! Didn't talk to him but just met him. They make a cute couple!

Love the event- love the fact I got to spend time with my cute friends! Meow left us way early but I managed to stay awake after T and N's arrival. N is freaking hilarious, can't fall asleep when he's around!

THANKS SO MUCH TO YELP, THE BEAUTIFUL AND LOVELY JANE K. AND THE WELL-DRESSED PETER D.

P.S I DIDN'T MEAN TO STEAL ANYONE'S BLACK KNIT HAT BUT PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU'RE MISSING IT!

Jane looked so cute in her outfit!

My fondest memory was getting fondled by a very tall man and having my first fried pickle.

Good times!

Thanks again guys for yet another bangin' Elite get-together! Held in the entire downstairs of the Heartland Brewery (which is huuuge), there was food and friends in abundance. My favs were the sausage (now, who doesn't like a good banger in the mouth, cf: Arrested Development before you stick the morality police on me) and the always dependable 2 Little Red Hens. That pumpkin flavored cheesecake concoction was amazing.

Of course, got to hang with my fav Jon L., Susan A. and met a whole bunch of new people (hello Caroline C. and Wen of Brooklyn). And yay for freeeee beeeeeeerr. Heart Yelp and Heartland. I'll have to try Heartland when it's a regular restaurant sometime.

Straight ballin'.  Between the sausages, unlimited draughts, endless Kobe beef sliders, fried pickles slathered in special spicy sauce, tuna tartar, Red Hen truffle choco cupcakes/pumpkin cheesecake/apple cobbler, and Jager milkshakes, I really don't know how a greater collection of delights could be brought together to entice the senses.  The line outside obviously sucked but it was well worth the wait.

I brought along two co-workers who were astounded that all you had to do was share your opinion about places online and you could gain access to such Elite-dom.  Drinks and foodstuffs for all, we stuffed ourselves silly.  I never thought one could get full and bloated on only beers and hors d'œuvres, but with two hours and the appetite of an early 20s male with a hunger matched only by a bear - with the hunger of 10 bears - many a child can be fed.

I love Yelp.
-------------
Also, if this event ever repeats itself and you find yourself on the brat and sausage line, swipe two sausages full onto a plate and exhibit ignorance of the smaller plates that the server provides. It seems that this is the most efficient way to get anything in your stomach versus eating the two microscopic pieces dressed with sauerkraut that the server provides. I actually did this by accident the first time around but I realized how deviously efficient this process could be. And get all three mustards: each so deliciously distinct.

Down once... then down again (Location of Heartland Brewery and My dizzy spell)

How cool was it to be essentially celebrating Oktoberfest in the sub-level basement of the Empire State Building?

Purple, purple, white -tower colors.
White, white, white -tunnel color as I hit the bar floor.

Toward the end of the eve did anyone notice the EMT?
Well, they came for Me!
I had a dizzy spell and lost consciousness twice.  Yes, that was me and Yes, I am alright :)

Many thanks to:
Chris W for ordering water when I went down.  And so glad I didn't take the suggestion on the Jager Milkshake as that would have added a bigger mess.
Thanks to Jane K & the lovely woman next to her... for being by my side as I was recovering.
Thanks to John N for adding a little humor "Don't look up under Jane's dress!"
Thanks to the owner of HLB also humoring me... "Who's your boyfriend I'll get him?"... "Is he good looking like me?"  "Or, good looking like him?" referring to John N.  And covering me up using his woolen sports coat and calling for help.

So why did I fall?
Before the event, I ate three hearty bowls of vegetarian soup.  Fresh ingredients from the greenmarket that day... I nibbled on all German speciality plates as they came my way... and I was sipping on one beer?!
I practice yoga and I box... my profile states "I'm into Superfoods!"

So what went on?
EMT took my vital signs and ALL normal :)
Oh, well all-in-all I had a "Smashing Night"!! --pun intended.
Managed to chat with a newcomer Bentley of SF.  Who's loving his neighborhood and hopes not to be a jaded New Yorker.
Peter D in his sexiest outfit to date:  opaque white stockings and black lederhosen -Glad I came to... --Too!!

Ever had one of those nights where you meet somebody at the bar, have a really good time, but black out near the end?  Then when you wake up, you find that they've destroyed your bathroom, changed all the contacts in your phone to characters from Harry Potter and spray painted your cat.  You swear said person off and vow never to speak to them again.  Years pass, and then you see the aforementioned person again.  They've clearly cleaned up their act, and toned it down a bit.  However you still smell remnants of their former self and are utterly confused at the proposition.

This is basically how I felt when I had the Jagermeister milkshake.

I can't decide what I enjoyed more tonight. Not only did I get to booze and dine with some lovely Yelpers at tonight's Yelptoberfest, but I also got to catch one of the most amazing bands of the moment right afterwards at Bowery Ballroom!

But wait. Is this really even an issue? How could I forget the moist, flavorful pumpkin cheesecake from Two Little Red Hens (and the enormous potential and encouragement of cupcake thievery post-9pm)? Or the sauerkraut and german sausage served up by Heartland Brewery that was so delish I went back not just for seconds, but thirds (YAMMY!)? Or what about the pleasant, friendly servers passing around yummy h'ourderves like fried pickles, tuna wasabi mini burgers, and soft giant pretzels?

Uhhmmm. Yeah. No contest. I love you Yelp. I came late, expecting that there would either be no food left or a room packed full of sweaty, sexy Yelpers with no breathing space. What I found was the exact opposite and an amazing time. Lots of snacks, oodles of beer, great servers, friendly Yelp CMs, and ample space to mingle, drink, and be merry. Thanks Heartland for hosting and to Yelp for executing such a five-star event!

Firstly, thanks Peter and Jane for going the extra mile, dressing up, and throwing down the best yelp shin-dig I've been to in a while.*

The space was way cool and huge, which is probably why they shot that episode of 30 Rock where Andy Richter (who plays Liz Lemon's brother) and family come to the restaurant to eat. I know because I was supposed to come here that night, but had to put up with the trailers and not getting in and Alec Baldwin yelling to someone on his cell phone. For reals, I can't make this stuff up.

But I digress.**

I talked the Litte Red Hen girl into breaking open the pies that she was saving for later, and I think they were mobbed by the time I got 2 feet from the table.

And then I drank.

Awesome beer, awesome food, awesome space, and a sea of mostly strangers with a few oases of friends.*** And the gorgeous women of yelp, and the kinky outfits the hosts wore to work that day, and always the after parties. And Rod, for cutting the line to hang out with me and then stealing my hug away from Jane. But I did make 5 new yelp friends.****

*Note that I haven't been to one since, what, Feb?
**Now, does anyone ever read all of these? Especially the long ones?
***That metaphor makes no sense, but go with it, ok?
****Seriously, any more than that and I would overload like a chimpanzee who spiked his coffee with Red Bull, swing from the ceilings and grab more ass than Oriana.
*****Actually, there is no reference back, I just wanted 5 stars to be somewhere IN my 5 star review. OCD what?

Jane and Peter throw a smashing soiree. And how cute do they look in those outfits?
Tubas and leiderhosen? You bet your sweet ass!
I loved the provisions...
A variety of sausages, saurkraut and mustards.
Kobe burger sliders, wasabi tuna(?) bites, pretzels and fried pickles.
oh,And mini muffins/sweets that my +1's were drooling over.

Then there was beer. I loved the Oatmeal .There were others, but I'm going back for the Oatmeal.
And I won't tell you how many baby jaeger shots I did. But I happily stood in line for these yummy treats...because the kobe sliders kept coming right past us and I could munch and yap and anticipate more ice cream/jaeger thingies. Thanks Susan, the nice Kobe slider lady.

The service was excellent, the food was abundant, the selection of drink was Oktobefest-y.
And the lower level of Heartland was charming. Warm colors, big booths, a nice location for a another Yelp 5 star event.

I know I'll have to come back and edit this when I am a little less Jaegered...or not.

Its getting really cold out.

too cold.

Where did fall go anyway? Did summer even happen (does anyone remember the freak rain storms in June?)

Its hard to leave a warm apartment for the misery of cold sleet and harsher winds. I loathe winter (and I'm from Minnesota...)

Thank you yelp team for bringing me to the happier aspects of fall: spiced beers, warming milkshakes, fried pickles, pumpkin cheesecake oh my!

I was so surprised at the space in Heartland. I must have passed that place a hundred times and never thought it looked interesting until last night. Great lighting, space, booths etc. and the music!!

Best Yelp event thus far (well, as far as the ones I've been to)

Fock I can't believe I missed this. By the time I dug through my email for the rsvp the deadline passed. We need a link on our profile page that links directly to the events.

Amazing!! Thank you YELP. I missed out on the MEGU so this one surely didn't disappoint. First of all, I totally didn't expect the large room .. (floor to be exact) and the 2 hour open bar for wine and beer was fantastic!! I got to try several kinds of beer (pumpkin ale was my fav) and wine. As for the food, loved the sausage/kraut as well as the salmon burgers. I'll be coming back to Heartland for that! I thought they were great substitute for vegetarians. LOVED the raspberry chocolate ganache cupcakes and pumpkin cheesecake. I'm a chocolate girl and I had a total of 6..

Beer + Cupcakes+ Lunch Box made my Wednesday extremely fulfilling.. I look forward to my next YELP event. Shout out to everyone I had the pleasure to have met!

The setting was too cute.
