What do you do when you're going to get married at the end of the year? You go to the gym and work your butt off. Since I am on a 3-week summer vacation, this Yelp event is a perfect way to spend my stay-cation and help me get started on my exercise regimen! My fiance, Drew L., is also doing this and we both are super excited to try to become less "flabby".

This is what I am going to do this month and for the rest of the year. Thank you Yelp and Fit Athletic Club for motivating me and finally getting me to step foot in a gym for the first time in 2 years.

This gym reminds me of Equinox- it's super nice and absolutely amazing. All the machines look new and there are some machines that I have never seen before. I feel like the ultimate gym newbie but I'm sure that by the end of the month, I will be a pro at all of this!

Patrick, one of the managers, gave us a tour of the facility and I was really impressed with the heated olympic-sized pool, heated towels in the locker rooms, and icy-cold water coming out of the drinking fountains! Patrick even signed us (Drew L. and me) up for a free 1-hour session with a personal trainer to show us how to use the cool machines.

This is a pretty nice luxury gym with many amenities like massage, fitness classes, personal training, children's programs, and much, much more!

I'm super excited to take the Yelp sponsored classes!

So far, I really am enjoying the yoga classes at Solana Beach location but I come to this location to cool off by the pool! Just the other day, I tried the Yelp Zumba class here at Carmel Mountain and it was so much cardio I literally lost like 50 pounds in water weight! I highly recommend Zumba- even if you don't have rhythm, no one cares because everyone else in the room (except for Saori, the instructor) is sweating, panting, and trying to keep up with the moves.

I will update this review as I go and find new things to tell ya'll about!

What a cool way to get to know the FIT brand!

What I like about he CMR location is the family feel and the great equipment, tennis courts and pool. I go a free massage that day fro Keith and a great tour as well! I was encouraged to use equipment that I never have used before and I especially liked the 'ferarri' leather on the equipment, the stretch machines and the crazy Jacobs Ladder that gets your heartrate up in seconds!!! Plus...Everyone was super nice there.

The Solana Beach location is still going through renovations, so their plus side was a quick access to the beach and being able to get in a quick workout without fuss.

I'm really excited to go to the pool party tomorrow. Unfortunately I did not get pool party ready because I was on vacation in vancouver, victoria and seattle the last week and a half, but thanks to FIT, my fitness won't be too too terrible! ;)

Jacobs ladder. What a quick heart pump!!!

Yelp's FIT Club is a fun one to spring into summer as it allows for the opportunity to venture out and get your fitness on trying out a newer local gym. Fit Athletic Club is a very nice, high quality gym with everything you could need and more. There's a swimming pool, tennis courts, wide array of classes to choose from, weight room, cardio room, steam/sauna room, and an abundance of the finest machines. The staff is also friendly here!

I came by yesterday to the Fit Carmel Mountain Ranch location and missed the opportunity to get a tour as they said the membership counselor was gone for the evening. I did my paperwork and boom the gym was there for me to take advantage of.

It was quite empty when I came which was nice I felt like I had the gym all to myself. The front desk attendant Serene was sweet and helped to show me how to work the lockers they have because it's built-in locks where you can change 4 combination numbers each time so no need to bring your own lock. The locker rooms are pretty sweet and have convenient toiletries to use to freshen up (mouthwash and spray etc).

Tonight I came by and was offered to get a tour which was given by Eric. I was excited for the tour, even though I already checked out most of it since I worked out the previous night. He was very informative, friendly, and helpful as he showed me around the inside and outside of the facility. I was surprised he didn't mention the membership information which was cool because they are easy-going unlike LA Fitness/24 which tend to push sales more heavily. At the end of the tour I went out of my way to request information on the membership and he connected with Dwight who then reviewed the membership options and offered his business card at the end of the encounter. They were very cool about it and no pressure whatsoever.. sweet! It's on the pricier side, but it's totally worth it! I'm totally considering making the switch.. tempted!! :)

      -Amazing gym
-Nice touch screen cable TV's built into the cardio machines
-Sunday Pool Days: $1 hot dogs and $1 beers
-1-hour session with personal trainer on machine use (will try this out soon)
      - Massuese on staff

Thanks Trish and Fit Athletic Club. I'm lovin' it! Motivated to get FIT at this gym.

I was nervous going in as this was be the first official Yelp event I went to thanks to Carolyn who invited me as a plus one. But people were pretty welcoming upon walking in. Everyone wrote name tags to identify who was who.

Walking in, there was a yelp stand giving away free stuff like water bottles, wrist bands, and healthy samples of snacks. Alongside were some pretty good snack stalls. Everything was delicious! But I have to say the yummy cupcakes won me over. I could not stop going for more! The hot dogs, salads and cheese bread were so good as well. I got to know some lovely people through Carolyn and also randomly.

Plus the heated pool was so much fun! It was too bad not a lot of people wore swimsuits underneath. I had some fun with some other girls I met. It was too bad I had to leave early because of a family dinner. I would totally come again. However by then I hope I worked on my bod enough to not feel to self conscious

I am so happy that Trish and FIT partnered up to bring us FIT Club - what a fun month!

I have been to a lot of gyms and boutique studios in the County, and I will be the first to tell you that FIT runs one heck of an operation. From their marketing team, to their location managers, to their group exercise instructors, FIT must only employ the best. It was truly a pleasure getting to meet some of their team members this month.

I am a group exercise junkie, and I was very impressed with the line-up, and variety of classes that FIT brought to the table. I normally stick to the cardio-based classes, but after trying one of the "chiseled" classes, I branched out and tried several weight-based classes. Olga was my fearless leader on many occasions, and I was really impressed by her classes. I exercise regularly, so I sometimes find that classes aren't challenging enough for me...not Olga's classes...she almost killed me on a few occasions (in a good way)!

What I really noted about the classes at FIT was how much they empower you to be strong. In most gyms I see women lifting only 5-lb weights. For most of the classes at FIT, not a single person had a 5-lb weight. Olga really encourages you to push yourself, and I really appreciated that, as I am one of those people that tends to shy away from weights. After a month with FIT, I can say with certainty that I am stronger.

Yelp and FIT made a great team this month. Every time I checked-in at the front desk, and told them I was with Yelp, the entire team greeted me with a smile. I felt like I had been a member for years. Thanks for making me feel so welcome!

I appreciated all of the encouragement I got this month from Trish, and the FIT team. Thanks guys, for being my motivation for the month, I truly appreciate it!

      Bring on the bikini weather!

$1 hot dogs and FREE beer every Sunday!
      Beautiful day poolside at FIT!

I just got back from a month out of the country so I really wanted to get back in the gym. It was perfect since Yelp's FIT Club started right when I got back to the States. So nice to have a free month at a nice fancy gym.

I didn't get to go as often as I wanted to but it was a great start for me to ease in to my workouts again. Fit Club is awesome but I wish they were closer to me. All the staff was so friendly and helpful. I like trying different weights and machines so it was great to get out of my regular gym and come here a few times. The TVs on the elliptical and treadmills were just dangerous for me. I kept playing with all the gadgets and not concentrating on my cardio workouts! lol.

I'm sore as I am writing this. What a great workout. I just attended the last Yelp class at Carmel Mountain and loved it. Thanks to Ainsley instructing a great Yoga class! I love learning more about yoga and trying different poses.

Thank you so much Trish, Yelp, and Fit Club. I really enjoyed this event. It was great motivation to work out and be healthy!

I can't get over how great this event is. A whole month of a gym membership?! A dream come true!! Especially for someone like myself who has a mental issue and can't seem to take a day off from the gym without feeling insanely guilty...

Had to wait a few weeks to be able to right a fully educated review on this gym, and now I can wholeheartedly give it a 5 star review! The facility, the classes, the teachers and staff, amenities, and overall ambiance... I can now understand why one would choose this gym over any other.

There are ample machines both upstairs and downstairs, so many that I honestly have not even had the chance to try all the different ones! The jacobs ladder is crazy, I have never tried one before but was giggling to myself as I climbed the one upstairs... You almost feel like a hamster on a wheel! Great workout though - if only I could stop laughing at how nervous I was to fall off of it! The amount of machines really does make a difference - a lot of other gyms don't have enough cardio machines, but fit club definitely does. Not only are there tons, but they are all high tech and well maintained!

Locker rooms are probably my least favorite part - I'm not digging the tile floors... but I understand that tile is best for all the water from the pool. It's great that their lockers don't require that you bring your own lock - that's such a hassle and who actually owns a lock?! The amenities in the locker rooms are great - shampoo, conditioner, cotton pads, qtips, lotion, mouthwash... Anything you could ever need! And I don't know if anybody has ever noticed, but I am in love with the fact that warm water is always coming out of the taps.

My absolute favorite part of this gym is the huge selection of classes!! Every single one I've been to had an absolutely amazing teacher, and was plenty challenging. I really hate going to classes and feeling like I've wasted my time - but that has never been the case here. Olga, Jacqueline, and Tori have been so amazing! They sure know how to put on a great class and keep you motivated the entire time.

Butts and guts with Jacqueline has left me sore every week... The last one I went to left me especially dead - the rest of the classes I took that week were about 10x harder because I was so sore!

Bike and bounce is a great workout - you get the cardio at the beginning and a really great bosu workout for the last 15 minutes. By the time you move into the group class room, you're already drenched from spinning but they've got the room plenty air conditioned!

I love coming here and I am sad that it'll be over soon! Thanks Trish for such an awesome event!!!

I just missed a class today. Dang it! It was very busy for a Saturday I thought but I was glad that I was able to use every machine I wanted to without a wait.
When I first walked in I had warm greetings from a young blond, the guy doing massages, and Daryllwin (I think is his name). Daryll almost got me to participate in the free ten minute massage that was being offered but I ended up opting out. I get embarrassed to easily to have a massage in the middle of the foyer where people can watch me. If anyone has had one Id love to know how it was.
To be continued if I take a class.....

Checked in on the Saturday after it opened up to us.

I'm a member at 24 Hour Fitness, and have been for almost 10 years. I mainly go to the Super Sport on Balboa. It's a very large new(ish) facility built on what was once an Albertson's supermarket. It has two racquetball courts and a basketball court, pool, sauna and hot tub....and this FIT location blows it away, and makes it look cruddy by comparison.

First of all, this facility is the CLEANEST gym that I have ever been in.

Beau helped me out, gave me a tour of the facility when I checked in. He was patient, generous with his time, and seemed very interested in my workout habits and made helpful suggestions.

I have used the treadmill and elliptical cardio machines to get warmed up. Then, the AMAZING stretching machines, I love those. The weight area is a bit small, but they have really state of the art machines, and I have been able to get a great workout in, never having had to wait for a station to free up.

The swimming pool area is completely insane, it's like a very nice pool at a Las Vegas casino, no joke.

The locker rooms are luxurious. The come with great lockers, complimentary towel service, shampoo, hand soap, MOUTHWASH....I mean it's incredible, and I really love it.

For those who haven't checked out the meals in proximity to the check-in area, they are really smart, fresh and a good idea for those who want to start eating healthier, and don't have time to cook....and they are tasty. I think that is a really great idea, and it is appreciated.

I'm a fan of this fit club, and will hopefully get a chance to check out the Solana Beach facility next week.

      Updated review

I was selected to try out FIT for a month as part of Yelp's FIT Club event. On my first visit to FIT I was given a quick tour and immediately felt it had a different feel than other gyms I've been to. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming and the instructors are very encouraging. But not only the staff, other patrons were very approachable and willing to answer questions about classes and the facilities. I felt very at ease from the start.

There's a large weight room with many different types of equipment to choose from. There are also 2 big-screen tv's to keep you up to date on the latest sporting events while you work out! They have tennis courts, sauna and a very large pool area, where I was told that they even have hot dogs and beer on Sunday Fundays!

What I enjoyed the most was trying the different classes. My favorite class was Zumba with Saori. She really made the class fun, by using current dance music and hiphop moves! BodyPump with Ana was another favorite, along with Olga's Full Body Fit, 20/20/20, Chiseled and yoga. The FIT app is so handy to checkout the daily schedule of fitness classes at any location and add them to your calendar.

The locker room is spacious, with everything you need to get cleaned up after working out from body wash and shampoo to lotion and mouthwash, even blow dryers and body spray. And, I love that they have a swimsuit dryer so you don't have to lug around a drippy suit!

On my tour, I was offered a complimentary hour of weight training and even a free tennis lesson. I'm not sure how the massages are scheduled but I think those are included with membership, as well. Unfortunately, my month was up before I got to take advantage of these perks! But, what an awesome place to incorporate FITness into your lifestyle!!
