Space-12 is an interesting venue that I hope does well.  Books, video games, tables, games, and even a computer room (that is a work in progress) make this a great hangout.

Due to the nature of the event, I'm not sure about pricing or how the space is monetized, but I live nearby and I'm going to take my roommate with me to find out soon.  I would love to run over there to play some Ping-Pong, Rock Band, and maybe drink a beer (but who knows if they offer).

As far as the event itself, this is my first time as a +1 and I absolutely loved it.  Free beer, fun people, and good times.  Make me a friend people who were friendly at this event!

Well, let's see--Michelle C. is completely captivating, I didn't blather in front of Jaime M., Dej M. knows dating, Lenah K. knew who I was, Jacob R. is a hoot, I made out with Alberto N. because Annie Ray said to, Monica O. is charming, John R. can sing and jump-rope, Alex B. is Klaatu, Kelly S. gave me a cool lunchbox, and Space 12 is a good thing for Austin. That's about it.

I should also mention when I attend these Yelp events, I pretty much beeline straight to a handful of certain Yelpers because I'm painfully shy and they put me completely at ease. It's a gift. And I'm always grateful for them putting up with me.

So I'd never heard of Space 12 before this event.  Interesting set-up, but I frankly don't see myself going back, unless it's for another Yelp event.

I thought it was too brightly lit inside, and it bothered me a bit that a few small children were near all the drinking, cursing, and even-more-drinking that was going on.  This is the first Yelp event at which I've seen small children, and I hope it will be the last.  I don't have anything against spawn... er, children, mind you, but I think Yelp events should be reserved for adults only.

The line to get pizza and barbecue grew longer faster than the line of men at Walgreens' pharmacy to buy Viagara when it was first released, so I opted to stick with the tiny Lick It/Bite It cupcake I snagged.  My blood sugar thanks me for that, I'm sure.  I couldn't tell ya what kinds of beer we got for free tonight.  I know one was a hefeweizen, but when I asked for it, the bartender said, "Oh, the yellow one?"  So I enjoyed two yellow ones, and then Lisa M. got a blue one by mistake, which she allowed me to enjoy while she went back to the bar to fetch a green one.  Right now I'm enjoying a purple one (Abita Purple Haze).

As for the games, I didn't play any, but I watched Monica O. and others attempt to score on Rock Band.  I'm glad no one asked me to play, as I think I only knew maybe two songs on the whole list.  It seems most of the songs were from the last 15 years.  SO WRONG!  Other than that, I unfortunately had to lay eyes on a particularly creepy Yelper, and I did not get to talk as long as I wanted to to a particularly dreamy Yelper.  C'est la vie!

Taking pictures in the Rebel With a Camera photo booth with Lisa M. and Errol M. was great; those pictures turned out really well!  I look forward to scanning them onto my computer.  And Annie Ray had passion, as always.

The best part about tonight was seeing old friends, like aforementioned Errol M. and Lisa M., and Dej M., Jaime M., John R., Jack N., Veek N., Yolanda G., Monica O., Mike L., Justin B., Ryan S., and Alex B.  AND I finally got to meet one of my favorite Yelpers... Michelle C.!  Oh, and I got to hear all about good barbecue trips from Jacob R.

The second best part about tonight was that Kelly S. told me she was under the impression that I was taller, based on my main profile picture.  I use the same picture on OK Cupid and Plenty Offish, so no wonder I get so many hits!  Now, if only I could figure out why I get stood up so much.

The Yelpy lunchbox is great.  If I had a job, I'd totally use it to lug my grub every day.  Though, that would totally keep me from Yelping about new restaurants.  Hmmmm......

Yelp is my pusher. My dealer. When I thought I'd get through 24 hours without sugar, about 5 mini cupcakes happened to me. Stopped the shaking though, which probably made me easier to talk to. Way to go Yelp.

Did you know the weight of a child is about 3.5 times more dense than that of an adult, and if that's not true then it feels that way? Yeah. There were kids at the event. Mercifully, none of them stepped on me. No no, stay right over there. You little cuties. My biological clock will admire you from afar.

Giant Jenga, you worried me. I wasn't even playing it, but I was shrieking like a cheerleader in a horror movie everytime that thing threatened to topple. Props to those courageous enough to risk certain catastrophe.

Then I had another cupcake. I would have written this review sooner, but I was getting over my sugar shock. I was also disposing of the dude who sarcastically encouraged me to "ust go ahead and touch all of the cupcakes. It's called *hovering* you big baby. I should've sneezed over the whole batch.

Kelly, the dress was delish. Zero traffic on the way to the mucho-parking venue; fabulous. I photoboothed gratuitously. All the cool Yelpers - you're cool. Yes, you.

    E: That's my favorite dialoguer.
M: I'm putting that in my review, Errol.

Once I dragged myself away from the Rock Band corner, but not after making some friends on the drums and gee-tar, I still couldn't make it to everyone I wanted to see. To those few, I apologize. And yet, this is what indicates a stellar event.

EXCELLENT work Smithers. And I mean Kelly and Kevin.

    Also:
    - Cops are mean.
    - It's possible to pull off toppling a (moderately large) tower of Jenga with grace.
    - What do 12-15 glow-in-the-dark necklaces add up to? A friggin jump rope.
    - I used his makeup. But he only has it because of girls like me. Whatever that's supposed to mean.
    - Apparently I'm a spokesperson for Karaoke Apocalypse. This does not bother me.
    - I need to keep a notepad on hand when colluding with other Yelpers.

The only thing that could have made this night any better would have been hiring DJ Mel to spin. No, wait, that's been done. Ok: the only thing that could have made this night any better would have been having Latin dancing... er, ok so that's been done too. Damn, Yelp: I'm running out of hobbies I adore to request for these things.

Someone's gonna have to cough up a unicorn soon.

So I'll admit I don't know anyone and I didn't talk to anyone. No I'm not pretentious. I'm not that kinda person that can go up to anyone and say hi. I only knew Kevin (King of all Yelpers).

I was bummed that no one wanted to play with me for Yahtzee. I wish I bought my Apples to Apples. But I love the concept of board games and Rock Band at the corner.

I loved the body painting which I had her do the Bengal stripes on my arm in homage of Jordan Shipley going to the Bengals. (I'm so sad that he's leaving Texas)

Loved the photobooth. Couldn't pull it off though with the pilot goggles.
    Just used the lei.

Food was excellent. I had 4 cupcakes since I'm a sucker for cupcakes.

Then I went outside and sat at the tables. Lo and behold I saw big chalks. I grabbed them and started to do chalk art on the sidewalk. I drew stars.

In the top 5 Yelp events I've attended and here's why:

Games! A variety of activities to encourage mingling and a noise level that wasn't so high to drown out your introductions. "Oh, you love bacon? I love bacon, too!  Let's play Yahtzee!!"  We were sucked into the indoor table games and never made it back outside for the giant jenga, foosball, and ping-pong, but I'll get to that next time I'm in the neighborhood.

Bodyart!  I was the first customer at Mott's booth and she gave me a gorgeous faux necklace to compliment my outfit. It looked so real that no one could tell it was painted on, except the guys who ogled to see if the art was being painted on my bare chest -- nope fellas, just the neck and clavicles. You'll have to check out Carnival Brasilero for that other stuff.

Pizza!  Some scrum-diddly-umptious thin crust slices by Hoboken Pies.  I only wish they had more, as I had to satiate myself with a palm-sized taste of some white pie with bacon, potatoes, and (I think) sun-dried tomatoes. By the time I made it back through the line for another taste, it was all gone. Note to self: must be more greedy at future Yelp events and grab multiple slices during the first pass.

Kelly!  Welcome to Austin Yelpdom and thanks for being such a pleasant hostess. I think you came by and spoke to me & friends at least 5 times last night and it was clear that you were taking care of every little need. I really appreciate your choice to feature a unique community-centered venue like Space12 where creative and charitable work is done (not that bars and restaurants aren't wonderful, but this was a very nice change of pace).

Bill Brasky!!  You were impressed that I got the reference on your name tag and so you decide to join our little Rummy game. Then you proceeded to steal our stash of horded glow sticks to create a giant glowing jump-rope. You never did reveal your true identity, but we know how to find you through BBQ Master Jacob R.  To Bill Brasky!

Photobooth!  I like this concept, as I'm not much of an exhibitionist and I need that little curtain to really turn on the personality and PASSION for the camera.  I finally have some pics from a Yelp event in which I don't look half bad, even if they are 1 inch squares. Hope they'll have a step-stool next time for those of us who are height challenged.

Swag! You really can win at the raffle, folks, so turn in that little ticket!  Somehow, I walked away with a sweet Hoboken Pie t-shirt for the significant other and a swell Yelp lunchbox with matching thermos.

Can't wait for the next one. Thanks, Kelly and Kevin!

My space, your space, well who cares because Space 12 is going to become our space for future good times.

Yelpers know a good thing when they see it because everyone came out tonight and on time for that matter. Whatever happened to being fashionably late? We've all learned too well that we've got to line up early when there's great food like Shed BBQ. Man, that tender moist chopped brisket marinated in their homemade sauce was a party in my mouth all on its own!

Cute mini cupcakes from Lick It Bite It. Chocolate won hands down.

Rock band was a great way to meet new Yelpers. Felt like a family activity.

Watching Jumbo Jenga was a trip. Didn't get body paint because the line was long and somehow missed the rocking photo booth. Bummer. That's ok, Annie Ray to the rescue with her cam. She's so sweet. Can't believe she remembered me from the last event which had like 200 people.

And of course who doesn't like free beer while socializing with awesome friends especially on a beautiful spring night like tonight.

BTW, really admire the charity work that Space 12 is doing by donating books to prisoners. I'm bringing some next time to this worth while cause. Way to stand for something!

Most of all, Kelly S. made my night when she handed me a Yelp lunchbox. Yay, I finally feel like all the cool kids after waiting all these months to get one! Now sista just needs a J-O-B to show it off.

Thanks Kevin and Kelly for your scouting and hard work to provide us with adult fun night.

What is the mark of a successful event? For me, it is that I had a fabulous time all while being stone cold sober.

I was a little worried when the invitation mentioned that there would be limited space at Space 12 that we would be packed in there like sardines, but it was actually the perfect spot for a gathering of the Elites and Friends.

Shed BBQ won my heart. The brisket was amazing, and each sandwich was made with love and care. That made the line a little long, but the wait was worth it. I'll be hunting these guys down for sure.

I was a little bummed that I missed my chance to have a mini cupcake, but staying until the bitter end last night paid off! Late in to the night, Kelly broke out a box of slightly bruised cupcakes and I happened to be in the right place at the right time to snatch one up! I'll confess that I licked AND bit my cupcake, and I liked it.

    See y'all next time!

While it was really more of an "Extra Large Jenga", not "Giant Jenga", it was still my favorite (and only) game that I played last night. I found that I can make killer 2x4-sliding moves, but I also end up screwing myself 'cause I made the damn thing topple, twice.
(No Yelpers were harmed as a result)

I got there early due to the perfect start time. The great location and ample parking made me happy before I even got inside.
I wanted to make sure I got a beer and a BBQ sandwich before they were all gone, but that guy was pulling pork for most of the night! (yes, Jack. *That's what she said.*)
The BBQ line was long but totally worth it, while the beer flowed through the whole event and the bartender was TCB with a smile.

Another highlight was posing as Bad Lieutenant with Lorena O. in the Rebel With A Camera booth. If they could just raise the camera a little for taller patrons, I'd be set!

Always good to see the ol' Yelp homies, but I met a few of the young crop of freshman, who help keep the scene, uh, fresh.

Truly a fun time. This event earns all 5 stars. Thanks Kelly S.!

The start time was PERFECT.  So many of the Yelp events involve battling rush hour traffic, that it was an absolute dream to cruise down to East Austin last night at 7:30.  Thank you, thank you, thank you to which ever Yelp honcho made that call.

Secondly, it wasn't "Giant Jenga".  I have to be honest, i was as excited as I could be to see what Giant Jenga was all about.  I had visions of people-sized foam blocks being stacked by folks on those mini-airport ladder jetway things you see at Home Depot.  But alas, while I played one game and it was fun, it was more "Big Jenga".  No harm no foul, at least I didn't topple the tower.

The food was hit or miss for me.  The pizza looked promising, the gal serving it up was super nice, but the slices were cold and while the cheese slice was good, the white slice was tough and chewy and dry.  The pulled pork sammies, however, were sublime.  Up there with the best Yelp event food, along with the stuff at Finn & Porter's.  I could have eaten five of those babies, but the line was long, there were lots of furtive looks from those behind me worried about the food running out (I'm looking right at YOU, MDX), so I demurred.

I'm a Widmer fan, had two Hefe's and one IPA and they were cold and delicious.  The barman was nice, I always worry if people tip the service folks at these events.  I figure, if my food and entertainment are gratis, then I should make sure to take care of the service, and I did.

One of my apparent rituals at Elite events now is playing games with Justin - darts at Buddies, shuffleboard at Tap Room, and now ping pong at Space 12.  We demonstrated both a mutual competitive streak and an alarming lack of skill during our 30 minute table tennis experience.

Never to be mentioned again is Jarrett's complete ass-kicking of me in horseshoes.  It looked so ridiculously easy but soon enough I was skunked and sulked away in a huff.

You can probably tell I had a pretty good time.  Great job and thank you, Kelly, although the flunky helping check people in at the table seemed to not know what he was doing.  ;-)

    My first Yelp Elite Event:

*Attended with my husband, who may have expected something more structured, but enjoyed himself nonetheless.

*The space was cool, though I may be biased as I enjoy being surrounded by books.

*Saw 2 people I recognized from Yelp: Errol M. and Jaime M.  Said "hi" to Jaime, actually talked to Errol.  Not too bad since I have social issues (being in a psychology field will do that to somebody).

*Cupcakes and bbq were really good.  Only snagged one little piece of pizza (didn't know Yelp etiquette was to grab as much as you could ... I'll remember that for next time) before it ran out, it seemed pretty good as well.  Liked the beer, which was more accessible than the food.

*Kelly was a great hostess, trying to make sure everyone felt at home.

*Photobooth was fun, though now I know I'm not photogenic in a too-small gangstery fedora. My husband looked good in his goggles, though.

*Maybe I'll get a lunchbox next time ....

This night will always stay with me as the night my dreams died. Who provides kites for our enjoyment, but doesn't check first to see if it will be a windy day? A horrible fun-hating soul-crushing line-jumping not washing hands after peeing killjoy, that is who! I expect more wind, more kites, and more long line at the next yelp event. If my demands are not meet, well I will have to write another strongly worded review!
Kelly, I'm not holding you responsible for the kite fiasco, you did an amazing job. Thank you! I have a feeling a much more sinister element is afoot in this catastrophe.

Giant Jenga was really fun. Rock Band was nerdy and sorta anti social but still very fun. The food was really yummy (who knew Missouri bbq was that tasty?). The beer was delish(side note I "accidently" got drunk with one of the Widmer bro's a few days after turning twenty one at CM, so I got a soft spot in my heart for their beers)

The rebel with a camera photo booth was slow to start but kicked in nicely, and Annie Ray got me to put my Passion all over Errol M.'s face.

Space 12 is super awesome! They have a lot going on there and I hope i'm lucky enough to come back to an event here as I know I'll have a good time and I'll be giving back to the community.

Thanks Kelly for all of the hard work!!!! This event was a blaaasssst! Definite plus for the later starting time and ample parking options! As always its a pleasure to share two hours with all the the yelpy peeps.

I'm not usually the early type, but I'm glad I got to tonight's event a few minutes ahead of schedule. It filled up quickly and everyone was eager to get their piece of the action, be it food, beer or other fun.
I didn't play any of the games because I was too busy mingling with the awesome people in the few short hours we had at the funky, cool Space 12, which allowed for a great setup.
I did get a few awesome photo strips with friends old and new from the fun, high quality photo booth.
Overall, it was a great night, and my main complaint was that it was over too soon!

There ain't no party like a Yelp Elite party 'cause a Yelp Elite party is [insert your own awesome finish here]. Thanks Kelly for throwing together a great event! I brought my disco stick along because when you spend $45 making a prop for a one-time karaoke performance you find ways to involve it in everyday life. It turns out that a Yelp Elite event is the perfect place for that type of thing.

Hoboken Pies remains unchecked on my places-to-go list as the pizza went faster than a [something really fast]. Seriously, they brought more as I walked in the door and ten minutes later it was gone. The Shed served up some pretty fucking great barbecue and I look forward to venturing over there to get more.

This was my first time meeting Annie Ray and she is certainly a charmer! The photo booth made me want to watch 'Doctor Who' and being that I woke up wrapped in caution tape, I can say without a doubt that it was a ton of fun.

I met so many new people last night and of course it is always a pleasure to once again see all of my Yelp friends. Also, the lunch box I scored got me a ton of compliments at work today.  Definitely looking forward to the next event!

Who throws a party better than Kelly S? No one. It's like she reads my mind before each party and thinks, man, what would Lundy love. And then BAM. It appears before my eyes. Cupcakes, pizza, bbq, and beer! However, that wasn't even my favorite part.

Turns out, I love acting like a child. Photobooths with props are my #1 favorite thing. Wait, you got a venue with foosball and ping pong? Glory. Oh I'm sorry, did you also set up ROCK BAND?!! AND you got that face painter from Glam Off? Gees Louise Kells, it's like you were trying to make my head explode, in the best way of course.

Thanks for all of your hard work and for all of the vendors who participated!! We love you more than you know!

As the Rock Band version of "Wanted: Dead or Alive" floated over for the 4th time from the northwest corner of Space, the clock struck 9:34pm.  I knew then - as Jaime put on the heart-shaped eyepatch to go with her pretty pink shoes, and the cupcakes were inhaled - that it was game over.  She and the other Space 12 denizens who had just come for some beers, bbq and Boggle had fallen prey to the countdown and snap of the flash.

    Photobooth zombies. Egads.

Michele helped get food into my shaking bod as the zombies multiplied, but even the flesh of innocent beasts was useless to prevent the rapidly multiplying swarm from donning props and gear and stepping between the gently wafting curtains.

Should I not survive to finish this entry, you can examine the boa-flavored prints Justin and I collated here as proof.  They're pretty sweet. I also have prints with Monica & Kristin attempting to sport our 'jazz' look, but it's tough to define exactly what that is. Jazzy.  And now zombie.

Great start time:  7:30pm means I don't have to battle terrible traffic to make it to a fun event!

Great location:  plenty of parking onsite.  Space 12 was large enough for us to spread out and had plenty going on to keep us all entertained.  I liked checking out the different nooks and crannies, though I think it only made my Elite Party ADD even worse.

Good food:  My apologies for inadvertently cutting into the BBQ line.  I blame the cupcakes and the late Hoboken pies.  I bailed from the BBQ line to snag a slice of some pepperoni, jalapeno, and pineapple creation once they did show up, and it was tasty.  But the clear winner here was the BBQ (which I went back and stood in line for later).  The Shed brought it with their MS Pulled Pork sandwiches and I'm glad I was being gluttonous enough to try a few bites.  As for the sweets, I like Dej's cupcake math.  Since the folks at Lick It Bite It or Both provided us with a variety of mini flavors, she said you could eat like 4 or 5 and they add up to one.  So why'd I stop at two?!?

GREAT photo booth:  We've become a culture that demands instant gratification, and the Rebel with a Camera crew gave us just that.  Great setup, guys, thanks for the memories!

As always it was great catching up with old friends and making some new ones.  Thanks for an awesome party Kelly S, looking forward to seeing what's up your sleeve for the next one.   (PS, did I tell you you looked smashing?   Great shoes, sexy!)

This was a couple thrill rides short of being a full out carnival - Games, pizza, BBQ, cupcakes, face/body painting, photo booth, raffle, glow bracelets, oh and how can I forget about the beeeeeeer.

My favorite part of the night was probably the photo booth. I had plans for getting my face painting like the Joker (let's put a smile on that face...) but I didn't want to freak everyone out. I also wished I got to play some giant Jenga. But what a fun and relaxing evening!! I even won a raffle prize!!

It was pretty cool hearing a little bit about Space12 - what a beautiful place for a former nightclub!! Thanks Yelp for taking care of us. I cannot wait for the next event!!

Phantastic photobooth.  That shimmering red curtain really went with my "hipster chic" outfit.  Great props.  I never realized how good I look in those (railroad conductor?) hats.  Rebel, you really gave me and my friend a memory we will cherish.

    *sings "cherish" by Madonna

Jiant Jenga joy.  What a great ice-breaker and vehicle for camaraderie.  Haven't seen one that good since Leighann of Boston's lil hookah get together.  I guess I'm just so happy because I didn't make it fall.  I thought the chanting of "jenga jenga" was a bit misguided.  I mean, why not chant something more interesting like "miracle whip miracle whip"?  Since us jengers seemed like the type that 'don't settle for mayo'.

Thanks to Action Annie, my friend and I might have ourselves some new foosball fun profile pics for various social networks.  I'll just have to trust her artistic judgement as to why she bleached my skin.  Maybe it has more 'artistic merit' but I'm already pretty self-conscious about my pallor...Haha, nah it's totally awesome.

Super sustenance.  "You know that barbecue place across from Barbarella?  Well this brisket sandwich is waaay better than that."  According to my friend.  I haven't had the erstwhile barbecue, so I'll just say-- The Shed's The Shit Mayng!

Wonderful Widmer.  If I was still an uptight job seeking dude tryin to fit in with 'my fellow yuppies' I would totally drink you.  It's not you, it's me.  Widmer, you taste great, but you're too high maintenance.  But that night, you let your guard down, maybe someone slipped you a rufie, and I brought you back to my place ; )

This was one of my favorite Elite events to date, I must admit. Not only did I get my face painted, I also got to play Giant Jenga! As well as the normal free food, free beer deals and photo booth pictures, these nice little oddities made this a very special night.

Space 12 was an interesting little venue, and I thought it was so perfect for this event.

I know some Elite peeps that didn't actually make it to this event and are HIGHLY regretting it today.

What a GREAT event!  A really cool venue with actual Things To Do - I spent most of the night on Giant Jenga, though I did give Rock Band a two song run through.  I didn't make time for the face paint or the board games, though I wish I had, but man it was a blast.

The pictures from the photo boot were pretty much beyond awesome, and the 'cue from the Shed?  This Georgia boy is good and thoroughly impressed with that pulled pork.  SO impressed, actually, that he's buying like five pounds this weekend.

Yelp really gets five stars for this one- they put together an excellent event. From the start time to the selection to the entertainment, it was fantastic. All the vendors were blast...if you didn't like Rebel With a Camera, you are made of stone. Art for your head seems very cool and clearly highly skilled with body art; if you didn't grab a list of their entertainment options (and accomplishments! dressing and making up George Clinton!), go check out their site. Next time you're wanting something creative & unique and possibly even a little risque for a birthday/bachelor/bachelorette/whatever party, they've got it.

As always the food was a little tough to get to but not Yelp's fault that they're a popular event host.

BUT without yelp, without all that stuff. what is spaces 12? Well, we don't have basements here in TX, but for those of us that have lived with basements, to me this felt very much like a house party at a modestly finished basement. That's all good, but...not 5-star. I guess thats why it is a space- its what you make of it!

It's wild that Space 12 used to be Chester's: http://news8austin.com... Chester's had 200 911 calls in the first half of 2007? Impressive.

3 years of gentrification later, it's a nice, colorful little community space. The almost complete lack of windows might make it a bit depressing for daytime co-working, but it's perfect for evening events like this.

The Widmer beers were wonderful and reminded me of one of the best aspects of living in the Pacific northwest: lots of craft beer. Their hefeweizen is probably the best known, but I appreciated this opportunity to *really* get to know the IPA and pale ale. Even better, it was a welcome break from Lone Star. ;-)

Shed BBQ was also fantastic -- not too dry, not too fatty, just pulled pork perfection. I'd never thought of putting cole slaw on a sandwich, but it's truly an innovation.

The cupcakes were shockingly good for being so small and unassuming. The photobooth was a blast. The glow sticks were embarrassingly fascinating. With all the sights, sounds, flavors, I never even made it to the games, but foosball table: I'll be back for you one day!

I learned a lot of things on this night:
    1. info about Space12 from t he directors
    2. Books for prison
    3. Awesome pizza and cupcakes that I did not have a chance to taste
    4. Yummy free beer
    5. Super cool photo booth
    6. Play relay ping pong
    7. How to play Rock Band, at last.

There is really no bad event held by Yelp!
I like the set up and the activities available in the event but the queue for food was long and hmmm not enough? It could be better if we set up more than 1 tables for the food. Met a few cool folks and it was a joyful gathering after all!

I was invited as a guest with my friend Shani and I had so much fun.  Even if there was no food or music or anything else, it was worth going just to "hipster-watch."

I couldn't believe the amount of creepy hipsters!  They were everywhere.  Other than that, the food provided was wonderful.  I especially loved the teeny little cupcakes.  Plus, the guy running down the street with the limp kite was priceless.

The barbeque provided was so great.  I need to find that place and get some barbeque on the reals.

Oh yeah, there was a photo booth with funny little costumes that was really fun to play in.

Overall, I liked the party and the food, but towards the end of the line of people, the food began to run out...so that sucked.

As soon as we walked in to Space 12, it was like a fun grenade was detonated directly in my face.  Between the photo booth, games, and delicious food/desserts/imbibements, I didn't even know where to start.  (So I did what every self respecting person in my position would do- I tried one of every flavor of cupcake.)

The BBQ was fantastic.  Thanks, Calysta J., for getting me one with everything on it.  I've never had chopped beef with coleslaw directly on it.  Amazingly delicious.

    Great event, Kelly!

Somehow I missed the initial email about this event, which is insane considering it is literally right around the corner from my office. You would not have wanted to see me if I had failed to be in the know! Luckily fellow Yelpers remedied this situation, and I sheepishly attended as the lovely Jennifer B's plus one. ( My first time :)

Wonderful to see yelpers old and new.

That Drifter Pale Ale might possible by my new fave, the Brisket was divine, and the photos, as always were stellar.

Kudos to Kelly for an awesome yelp event.Look forward to many more.

What can I say about this event that hasn't already been said?  Not much really!

Space 12 was an interesting venue that looks to have a lot going for it.  Lots of creative little corner's perfect for fun and games.

I did manage to get some BBQ and the sandwich was delicious.  Missed out on the cupcakes this time but heard great things about them.  Spent some time in the photo booth, multiple times actually.   I even managed to mingle and meet some new (to me) people.  (I'm working on my mingling skillz.).

I do think my favorite was to see the jump rope made of glo necklaces!  Since I couldn't even keep one of those on my wrist... the fact that someone was able to make a jump rope and then John (?) jumped through it!  Wow!

Thanks to Kelly for a fun filled event!  I'm looking forward to more!

Bravo Kelly for yet another superb yelp event.  I ate, I drank, I pleyed? pleyd?  depley???

Some favorites include the random musical chairs ping-pong game which I think I lost in record time, that uber tasty BBQ sandwich served with a smile and of course the "Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom" book that Todd M. found for me to read..."ebb and flow" have a completely new meaning for me now Todd, so uh, thanks.

I would give my mingling skills that night 2 stars...I guess I was just happy to hang out with a friend of mine who recently gained elite status (Ilsun P. and Co.) so I kinda failed meeting new people.  Don't worry though, I will meet all you single letter last named people some day, I promise.

Keep em comin' Kelly, can't wait for the next one!

Now how did all of us Elite Yelpers let this rookie down below beat us to a review on tonight's event? I can call him that because hes my husband:-P Well tonight's event was def a hit. Probably the first event where we all got to just be kids. Games, glow bracelets, face painting and cupcakes? So fun! I had a pretty little peacock painted on my face, I really wanted a chest piece since I cant get a real one, but I figured I better take my turn and not hold up the line. Had a blast in the photo booth...twice. Really wanted to go in for a third time but figured that might get me banned. The food was awesome; my favorite was the bbq pork sandwiches. I didn't try the beer though the husband seemed to enjoy it, I stuck with a coke. Had a blast and really enjoyed the laid back but full of fun party:)

Fun times last night at the Elite Event.  I took my friend and it was one of the first time I mingled with fellow yelpers!  I think the enormous Jenga helped us with that.  I did not try the BBQ as I'm a veggie but I did eat the pizza and cupcakes- you can't really go wrong with those.  I also enjoyed the beer!  Another great part about this party was that there was plenty of seating so you could just sit and talk and drink beer and the photo booth was cool too.  My +1 won a game and he was pretty excited about that.  Good times- can't wait for the next one!

This being my first elite event experience, my expectations were set a bit high, and boy was I satisfied. Free beer (with hardly a line), delicious free food (with an understandably sizable line) and all variations of entertainment imaginable! My favorite was the photo booth; dressing up and acting goofy with pictures to take home! The glow sticks tickled my fancy and I lit up neon the remainder of the night. I may or may not have sent a few awkward postcards, including one to my parents informing them of my excitement for consumption of free beer... And the boyfriend won dominoes! So, yelp elite events = awesome! I could definitely get used to this...

    Cramazing.
    Definitely cramazing.
I work in education.  It's TAKS week.  Our school sucks at TAKS... that's life.  It's been a totally stressful year leading up to it and this week has been so freakin stressful I have had my head on my desk in tears.  That being said, last night's event made my world all better.
Kelly was a doll.  Such a sweet and graceful hostess, stopping by each table or each little clique to ensure all was well and we were having a fabulous time (which of course, how could we not with such amazing things around us?!).
Space 12's venue was a pretty dran cool space after all, with their porch to relax on... although our table was more than just a little wobbly.  (*can we work on that, guys? kthnx ) The people and car watching was pretty darn cool.  The inside was just the right size; not too big and not too small.  It appeared it was even baby safe.
Jenn B. and I didn't mind the wait for the Hoboken Pizza while we snacked on two of the oh so heavenly yummy mini cupcakes from Lick It, Bite It Or Both... and we did just that!
The Hoboken Pizza was also very tasty and I got to sample a couple of different kinds... wish I'd gotten some of that pear, though!
Driftwood Pale Ale was my poison of choice for the evening and man am I glad I chose it!  Smooth, no bitter after taste and perfect cold temperature.
After chowing down on the pizza and grabbing another beer, we decided we really needed to grab some of that bbq.  I am so glad we did.
    I.
    am.
    in.
    love.
For real.  This isn't just one of those school girl crushes, fellow yelpers!  I am truly in love.  We're talking running away together.  Perfectly tender pulled bbq on a soft bun topped off with the yummiest of slaw...
We totally made out and I'm not a kiss on the first date kind of gal.

I had a blast at this event! Tasty beer provided by Widmer - especially liked the Drifter Pale Ale, which had a hint of cherry flavor to it.  The Shed provided Mississippi-style, handpulled, barbecue pork sandwiches - absolutely delicious.  Also, great photo booth by Annie Ray, and delicious mini cupcakes by Lick it, Bite It, or Both.  Thankfully the beer was free, because I saw a few sacrificed to the beer gods as the slightly inebriated over shot in ping pong or just knocked shit about playing giant Jenga.  Kudos to Kelly for putting together another fabulous event!

This event was Yelp getting it right.  Good sized locale.  Not too crowded, not too sparse, not too loud to have a conversation.  Food that looked and smelled good. (Though I ate nothing because of lingering lunch fullness.  And a desire not to see my girlish figure campaign beaten by the law of diminishing returns.)  A choice of 3 different beers.  (Tried two -- consumed 1 and a quarter of another. The second beer was skunky. And I was glad 'cause didn't want to get drunky.  Why yes, two beers does have that effect on me. I don't care if you don't believe me.) Cupcakes frosted with vanishing cream.  (I never even saw one.)  People chatting, having fun, and playing games.  A  do-it-yourself photo booth.  (So you have the power to destroy unflattering pics!)  A roving photog (Annie Ray) who knows how to charm you into posing for a pic and then back off when you say, "no thanks" to a second pose.  Yelpers that I already knew and consider friends.  Yelpers that I was pleased to meet.  And those Yelpers that I still haven't met.  (And those of you in that last group, don't think you've escaped me.  I will meet you...)
