This was my first Elite event and certainly won't be my last (as long as I'm still invited!). Turns out that yelpers are just as cool and friendly in person as they are online! So take that you I-don't-like-New-Englanders-'cuz-they're-not-frien dly types.
Nile was a very cool venue - the shisha was fun, another vote for double apple! Had a great time, met some great people and I'm looking forward to the next event. -

While I showed up only an hour before the event ended, still, I enjoyed the Tiger beer and meeting up with most of you while we passed the peace pipe and what not. And by pass the peace pipe, I mean smoke the hookah.
Ab fab.
I was also happy that the smoke wasn't enuf to trigger a coughing fit on my end,and that actually smoking wasn't as destructive to my lungs as I had anticipated. I might be back, but....wherez the beerz?

oh man - what a great event.
This was the first time I was involved in the making of and it gives you that extra appreciation. Turning up an hour (too) early, helping lay things out and transform a good venue into a great venue.... And then the Yelp crew roll in. Fuck it, you are all the best.

Give these guys respect! Or at least hand them another one of the GREAT free Thai beers from Tiger. And while you're at it hand me one too, with a tasty Pita Pit wrap (grab those coupons) and a phat smoke of the nearest hookah - yeah, I don't pretend to be a connoisseur, I like them all.
**And the TEA!!**
If you liked what Hana T and I chose for you guys then thank you for drinking it and reading our tasting notes. We had a lot of fun doing this and I loved treating you all. Apart from the Monkey-picked Oolong (a gift from my sister and shared with youhoo), all the teas were all from Tea Zone (http://www.yelp.com/bi...). I was especially in love with the Organic Jasmine Green and the mint tea (Pharaoh) was blended by us from stuff at Tea Zone, just for you guys. You're special.
If you liked drinking those teas then head up to Tea Zone to grab your own, or go back to the Nile Lounge and demand them again because I left weeks worth of them with those guys and they've promised me they'll get served (if they don't then let me know and I'll de-star their sorry asses). My intuitions are (almost) always spot on.. but this time they were a polka dot mess.
With Yelp elites, Nile shish in our systems, endless Tomhana tea time, free Tiger rawr beer and Pita Pit patter wraps ..
I thought the bathrooms would surely be a disaster by the end.. but they were not.
Just as clean as the first time.
How could you not have adored this event after that fact? -

This is the best new hangout in Brighton! I've only been once--for a Yelp Elite event--but I can't wait to go back for round two on the shishas; they were a true delight. Although I wouldn't consider myself a smoking connoisseur by any means, the last time I had a shisha (in New York), it left an ashy aftertaste. But not so at Nile lounge...the tobacco burned clean and smooth; quality indeed!
It would be totally awesome if they could just add another couch or two and continue to host artsy entertainment like open mic nights or slam poetry events. Although I can understand that it is a bit of a challenge to work with limited space...
It doesn't bother me much that they don't have a liquor license--just as long as they continue to serve the Yelper-picked Pharaoh tea that pairs so nicely with the mint shisha. And given the student population around here, it's nice that there's an 18+ venue that isn't just another club or tavern. Very refreshing to just have a chill hangout where nobody is in danger of puking or grinding up against you.... The $25 charge per shisha is also quite reasonable--after all, a pipe is meant to be shared amongst 2-4 people, right?
Last but not least, the servers were super polite and attentive, which is a rare talent not found at most other Brighton establishments. Oh, and if you ask nicely, co-owner Brendan B. might even demonstrate his smoke ring skills for you ;) -

Best Event ever!!!!! :)
Not only was this my last event as the Official Yelp Intern, making it a sentimental experience, but so many Yelpers I love showed up, there was excellent shisha and Tiger beer flowing all night, fantastic performances and artwork and photography (and all the flattery that comes along with), there was the magic-flower-tea, in fact there was lots of lovely tea (!), there were yummy wraps from Pita Pit, the Nile people are fabulous, and yeah pretty much everything about this event made it the best ever.
The only things that weren't great were that some wonderful people were missing (but they can enjoy vicariously through pics hehe), and ... umm.. yeah that's pretty much it. You know, I thought with the excess of tea and beer, there'd be a killer line for the bathroom (which is very zen, by the way)... but surprisingly, not terrible. And from what I hear, the afterparty was a rager.
I was chuckling like a gleeful madwoman all the way home.
Now, for installment number two: unofficial get-together sometime, hopefully! -

Hooray for respiratory distress!
No, in all seriousness, this was an awesome event. Yummy pitas, chill atmosphere, funky flavors of tobacco that made me feel like the Caterpillar from Alice In Wonderland (WHOOOOO ARRRRREEE YOUUUUUU?), fantastic teas picked out by our very own tea connoisseurs Tom E. and Hana T., Tiger beer, and some talented Yelpers. Even the afterparty at the White Horse Tavern (shudder) was good times.
What more could you ask for? -

I originally thought that being at Nile Lounge would be much like- being allowed to smoke in a hospital. I was wrong! this place is great. The owner's are approachable and visible. Double apple tastes like sambuca or anything with anisette/pernod/ twizzlers.

Great event! Nice combination of activities and people, thanks for the beer, food, & pipes, and an enjoyable evening.
I'll be back to visit the Nile, I can't wait for them to get a liquor license, I'm imagining sipping some Pernod and smoking a Hookah.

LIgaya, you're the shit.
Good space, location, and food choices.
The crowd was great too, the intimacy between the audience and performing was amazing.
I felt really connected to everyone and had such a good time from beginning to end. -

I had a LOT of fun last night. The hookah was happenin', the beer and the teas were tasty, and the wraps were delicious. Good times, people! Let's do it again soon... except make sure Chloe and Liz keep away from the yelp elite stamps!

the apple shisha had some kind of anise in it, and my wrap had pineapples and jalepenos. these are combinations i've already made mental notes of. in conclusion : DELICIOUS FUN FOR ALL.
would yelp again. -
