When I found out I had become yelp elite, I squealed a lot, then I got my invitation to this event, which made me half squeal/half piss myself. I had heard about Moonshine from some of my friends but never actually knew where it was, or what type of food they offered, just some sort of corn dog business. All i knew was that the people I had spoken to about Moonshine loved it. After the yelp event, I love moonshine. Maybe it was the free booze, maybe it was the free food, maybe it was the free shirts and chap-stick, all i know is: I love yelp, and I love moonshine.
All of the Paula's Texas Orange/Lemon drinks were excellent. With each sip I found the weather to be a little more pleasant, and football to be a little more interesting. Then came the Moonshine "Jug." Which is exactly as it sounds, a little jug full of "White Lightning." I ordered it from one of the many friendly members of the waitstaff, and thats pretty much all I remember.
All-in-all, it was a wonderful experience. Yelp makes me sound like an alcoholic. -

The Highlights:
+ The "Burnt Orange" featuring Paula's Texas Orange. I don't know what I was expecting but this liquor is very smooth and tasteful. (You know what I am talking about - it's classy - not like Peppermint Schnapps.)
+ The fans. Both football and cooling system.
+ Seeing some new Yelper faces! Tobi, Ericka, Stephanie.
+ Seeing some old Yelper faces. Kevin. Heh.
+ Watching the "littlest longhorn fan" flirt with all the ladies.
+ Jessica telling me (regarding a non-yelper "Just For Men keeps touching me!" -

It's only my second Yelp event, but it was the best one I've been to. Moonshine was the perfect venue for us to bring our 13 month old son. The patio had plenty of room for him to run around and not be under foot. Big fans kept the air moving and the big tent kept the sun off.
The staff were outstanding and the buffet was a nice addition to the pleasant atmosphere. There were great complimentary drinks courtesy of Paula's. I tried the margarita, then had a few more margaritas before moving on to a martini-type-thingy made with tea and Paula's Texas Orange. It was refreshing. -

I think might have been one of my favorite events thus far.
The Highlights:
+ Probably some of the best waitstaff at any event.
+ killer margaritas, courtesy of Paula's Texas Orange (these are the ones I rave about at Key Bar. No, I am not getting kick backs.)
+ The patio at Moonshine was covered and had good fans blowing. Really nice atmosphere
+ Paula herself fit right in with all of us Yelpers. I think we should make her an honorary Elite.
+ meeting new Yelpers like Tobi and Erika.
+ great snacks provided by Moonshine
The Cons:
+ football. (ok, I get it. It was a football watching party, but I would have liked to mingle a little bit more) -

I can be very shy, especially when it came to going to my first elite event by myself. I had sooo many doubts going in, but when it was all said and done, I had an excellent time. Although, I wish it could have ended a little differently.
The food was good, the drinks were strong, the football was pretty boring but I thoroughly enjoyed the yelp crowd, "Just for Men" guys--not so much. -

This was just about the best way to enjoy a Saturday afternoon football game that I, frankly, didn't care about that much. As an alumni of a rival of both OU and Texas, the best I can root for in this game is catastrophic injuries on both sides of the ball. Of course, that would make me a despicable person, so it was nice to have a great party to attend while it happened.
And it was a great party. We arrived during half-time to find the patio at Moonshine pleasantly full. The folks at Yelp throw a great event, and adding in Paula's Texas Orange Margarita's was an inspired touch. It was great to enjoy a tasty 'rita, some yummy grub, and a nice breezy patio with friendly yelper folk. Some of them were into the game, some were into hanging out, all were into margaritas. A really good way to spend a Saturday. -

My very first review and how fitting that it be a Yelp event!
I am delighted to say that this was one pretty cool little soriee... I must tip my hat to the the coordinator(s) of this event. I know is it no small feat to arrange all the great happenings that went on Saturday afternoon.
The setup was fantastic! The covered patio and gigantor fans were a blessing. The larger than life TV was spectacular... too bad the display of athleticism left something to be desired but at no fault to Yelp or fellow Yelpers.
The food was splendid! A delightful choice of the classic appiteasers to tickle anyones taste-buds. Perfect for an afternoon of football.
The drinks were refreshing!... to be honest I am not much of a drinker so my review of the cocktail concoctions would be anything but helpful but I do have to say what a great way to show off a great Austin based product. Not to forget how festive the cocktails were with the Burnt Orange and the UT-tini. A nice big Cheers! all around for Paula!
The staff was observant and alert, which to be honest you don't always find, be it at a dinner service or an open event such as Saturdays. What a pleasant experience to never have to look up for your server or wonder if you water glass will ever be filled again.
And my last little eye catching, make a mental mind note was the great flare provided by Yelp! How fun!!! The notepads, which I missed out on, the fun little button pins, the koozies, the lip balm and the tip helper... useful, funny, and cool! -

I could only stay for a few hours, but I had a great time meeting new Yelp Elites and their friends (Hi Tobi, Stephanie, David, et cetera!) and catching up with those I already knew.
The pre-work Paula's Texas Lemon(ade) was refreshingly tart and minty, and the Paula's Texas Orange margarita was good, too. Especially because I had to go to work at 4.
Moonshine had a pretty cool setup going on. Plenty of space, it seemed, and a buffet that most enjoyed. The fans and the canopy were great ideas on a day that was beautiful but a little toasty.
I normally hate creamy dips, but the spinach-artichoke dip on toasted bread was rich and great, despite looking like vomit, which I have to admit initially turned me off. The rest of the food was meat, so I can't testify as to whether it was any good.
Thanks for a great time! -

Wooo woooooooo!!
The drinks were fabulous, thanks to Paula's Texas Orange and some excellent bartending. The food was very yummy and plentiful. The company was sublime.
Gee, UT lost. Oh well. Cal is #2 today!! -

This was the first event I have been to in a little while and I have to say it is probably the best so far. There were a lot of new faces as well as plenty of familiar ones to catch up with. The food was excellent (especially the spinach artichoke fondue) and the drinks by Paula's Texas Orange were a tremendous treat. The waitstaff was prompt and courteous, I plan on going back to Moonshine on my own to have a couple of drinks and some dinner. The only thing that would have made the afternoon better would be a different outcome for the game. Thanks again for another great event.
