Free beer, cute space, and a lot of very tasty appetizers.  That part was great!
The sangria was to my mind too sweet (though it's an Indian place, so should I be suprised?), and the tapioca/preserve dessert was rather uninteresting - the tapioca was quite bland, and I didn't think it blended well with the layer of intense preserve beneath it.
There was also only 1 bathroom, which in a crowd that size was a bit unfortunate, but should be less of a problem as a restaurant.

Can't wait to try the food for real!

{ EDIT: Too many Bollyhood threads.  I tried to stick to one but they just kept popping up.  If you already UFC'd this review please repeat.  Thank you.  If you didn't UFC this then you are a poopy pants.  TM Starla D., who was generous enough to +1 my pathetic ass.  She's awesome and I love her.}

Drunk Darin had a great time seeing old friends and meeting new people at Bollywood.  Drunk Darin liked the intimate space, the Bhangra music, and of course the free Red Stripe.  Drunk Darin saw neither food nor the film screened on the back wall, but that's really Drunk Darin's FAULT for being a short fucker unable to navigate through the masses.  Drunk Darin should have worn his elevator platform shoes.

Drunk Darin thanks Nish, Jessica, Richard, and everyone at Yelp for organizing a great event, as always.  It was SO MUCH FUN, Drunk Darin woke up this morning and realized that the right side of his face was sticky for some reason.  Also, Drunk Darin showed up to work 3 1/2 hours late.

Drunk Darin is now skating on thin ice with his castrating boss.

***For future reference, here is a cheat sheet to the Two Darins:

Sober Darin:
- reads Kierkegaard for kicks
- plays with his 103 imaginary cats
- needlepoint maestro

Drunk Darin:
- reads bottles of alcohol
- plays with other people's privates
- can't eat with chopsticks though he's Japo

P.S., Robert P. reminded Drunk Darin that he also guzzles beer on the streets of the Mission.

My first and last event as an 08' Elite.  I have to give it 5 stars.
That and they had free Red Stripe.
Unfortunately, I drank so much of it that I had to pee, and it was so crowded that I couldn't get near the bathroom line.  So I just pissed myself and left.

And with that I retire from Yelp Elite and keep my alias of Starla D.
I do not do this because I hate getting free food and alcohol, and invitations to fun parties.  I do this because people that don't read my reviews think that I am a Mormon.  And I don't want to tarnish my image with my own reviews because I am a sinner.
And a whore.  (please plus one me)
Amen.

I can't help it if I forget people I've met. I also can't help it if I try and hug you in greeting when you tap my shoulder because I thought you were saying hi but really you just wanted the bathroom.

So I just pretend I've already met everyone, which is surprisingly more awkward...

You: Hi, Keane.
Me: HEY!
You: We... haven't met before.
Me: Oh.

The Bollyhood Elite Event was nice and tight. I wore three layers and felt comfortably warm, shielded from the horrendous cold outside. Excellent snacks, though I only had a few. (Putting cherries into things is a surefire way of winning my love.) Perfect service, pretty staff and a really friendly owner.

But only one bathroom stall? What is this... 1969?

It's not like we plan on sharing...

I think Yelp screwed up when they did the event at Scott Howard. They raised the bar to a ridiculous level. I'm not complaining because I still had fun. But this venue was a little small and I bet most people like myself didn't even smell the food, much less get a chance to try any. I did try the tapioca thing and I got lucky and grabbed a plate with the greens and meat on it. But some guy ate the meat off of my plate as I was standing there talking to two hotties. The samosa-ish shooter that they were making at the bar was delish! But yeah, crazy crowded like the holiday party.

The highlight of my evening was meeting yelp friends in person, meeting new friends, and seeing old ones.

The anticlimax of my evening was tapping that hottie from behind on 16th. (too bad it was her benz)

Thanks to everyone who came out last night, the folks at Bollyhood were excited to have yelpers in the house. In case it wasn't clear, Baobab and Little Baobab are also part of the same family, so that little corner of Mission and 19th is a one-two-three punch of Senegalese-Indian-World Fusion Fun.

Bollyhood (http://www.yelp.com/bi...) officially open in about a week, so make sure to get on over for the full experience! Ivan, one of the owners, is also very involved with 3rd I (http://www.thirdi.org) films, and they'll be using the space to showcase all sorts of interesting screenings. Music as well.

Special thanks to Red Stripe, for making the night go down so well. Those Red Stripe gals, complete with red stripe sashes, were all right by me!

The space was tight, but to me an Elite Event is all about that near perfect balance of being too packed and just comfortable enough.

Oh, hello!

Welcome to my review of the Yelp Elite Event at Bollyhood.

For those of you who know me, this event commemorated the conclusion of a little test of willpower.  No alcohol for one month, over the holidays.  No drinking at the christmas parties.  The room never spun like a dredel.  I didn't have double vision when gazing upon the festivus pole.  And no champagne to ring in the new year.

Thanks Yelp and Bollyhood and Red Stripe for helping make my triumphant return to social drinking a success!

Oh yes.  Here are some pictures too:

The soft opening of Bollyhood was a very nice event.  I had a few Red Stripes.  I had a fried snack and a lamb snack on sugarcane and a snack served on salad.  I had a cup of rice pudding with fruit.  I talked to a lot of old friends, I made a few new ones.

While all this went on, some Indian movie sans sound played on the big screen.  I have no idea what that was about.  It looked kind of like an Indian CSI starring an Indian Ray Romano, and then everybody started dancing.

Awesome!

Thank you Yelp, Bollyhood, and Red Stripe, for a fun event.  The best to you, Bollyhood, on your opening.

5 stars!  5 stars!  5 stars!

OK...no, 4 stars because it's 2:30 and I was just able to finish the bowl of cereal I made myself at 9:00 this morning.

OK...it ain't nobody's fault but my own, you can have the star back.

Mommy:  Wait, where were you last night?
Amy:  OK...so there's this website where you can write reviews and stuff and they have these events...Remember the holiday party photos I sent you?
Mommy:  Oh, and why didn't you eat anything?  You know better than to drink without eating anything.
Amy:  Because I'm stupid.
Mommy:  I see, well...have fun with your hangover.
Amy:  Mmmhmmm.

I think I like that red stripe beer...AND they gave me a bottle opener!  I'm going to be the life of the party from now on because for some reason nobody ever has a stinkin' bottle opener!

PS  Big hugs for Joyita and Michelle for not leaving me on the side of the road to die.

Good times. Which may explain why my review will be sooo boring. I'm still recovering.

I was excited to go to this event as Bollyhood is in my neighborhood. I luckily got to be Autumn K.'s +1.
There was great crowd, as usual. The free Red Stripe and sangria were making everyone happy, and I think the sangria alone is a reason to go back to Bollyhood. Delish! I got to try a few different kinds of food, and they were all very good. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.
I loved the Bollywood movies playing on the big screen in the back, which added to the fun atmosphere.
The single bathroom was an problem, with the line always being several people long, but I knew how to maneuver around this issue. I just went to Beauty Bar, on the corner, and used their bathroom. No line. I got back and all the same people were still waiting. Suckers. :)
I will definitely be going back to Bollyhood when they are officially open for both their food and their sangria.

Sadly I'm just a white girl, a European mutt. Lacking a real culture, I gravitate toward others that stimulate and entice me. And I love all things Indian. The dancing, the saris (very beautiful AND flattering), the food (duh), yoga, and meditation. Yeah, the kama sutra, you knew I'd mention it.  How I'd love to attend a wedding evocative of the film Monsoon Wedding or Bend It Like Beckham, where every generation is getting their groove on, and not in the drunk, white man's overbite kind of way when "Shout" comes on, which sadly occurs at my family weddings.

Thus when the Bollyhood invite popped into my inbox, I hurriedly RSVP'd back. Not rain, work deadlines, or bad hair days could keep me away. I stepped out of the blustery drizzle and into a warm inviting atmosphere of Red Stripe (one of my favorites), sangria, and hot sweaty bodies.

Food was hard to get to until I planted myself outside the kitchen and bodyblocked the servers coming out. I managed to pilfer some lamb on a skewer which was tasty and tender, a mini mint samosa (I think), and a tapioca-type desert. These tastings amused my palate to gurantee return visits for a proper nosh.

I was a little disappointed that they didn't screen the Bollywood musicals, but showed the Indian versions of "House" and "CSI." I also wanted to get my groove on and dance but it was too crowded. Again, that's a caveat of Yelp events and not reflective of the venue itself.

I also echo the sentiment that Yelp events are a great way for new businesses to preview themselves to the community. I will definitely be back -- great addition to the Mission!  Yay, I rhymed!

Things Learned Last Night:

1. I get lost very easily. (My roommate and I got off BART at 16th&Mission...walked for a block until we realized we were walking down 16th, walked back, turned right and walked down Mission until we hit 15th, and finally made it to Bollyhood after passing the same sketchy people 3 times in a row.)

2. In a super crowded bar with lots of shorties, it pays to be tall to get some fresh air above.

3. Whatever you do, don't try to balance a salad on your wine glass. It will NOT stay put and might even end up on the floor. Not that I know anyone who did that or anything.

4. One bathroom for a bar is not enough. Thankfully, my roomie and I used our ninja frat party skills and BOTH went in together and took a total of 2 minutes. Tops.

5. All the yelpers I harass on a daily basis online are just as cool in person as they are on the site.

6a. Not eating dinner and then drinking is a bad idea. The last time I was drunk off of only 4 beers, I was in high school.

6b. I love Red Stripe. And Sangria. And Newcastle.

6c. Thanks to the power of ovaries, even after they ran out of freebies, I was still able to get free drinks from the bartender. Sorry boys!

7. Yelp has some very attractive gentlemen in its ranks. Tall ones, too.

All in all, an excellent evening. It gave us an excuse to brave the waters of the Mission without drowning in a sea of hipster and scenester nonsense. Thanks yelp!

It was kinda squishy and the line for the bathroom was very long... but, despite these things I had a great time at Bollyhood last night.  I enjoyed the Red Stripe beer, as you can see in this picture: http://www.flickr.com/... and the little bit of food I was able to try was tasty.  Since I'm about to move into the Mission I'm sure that I will go back to try their full dining experience.

Thanks for the great time Nish, Jess and Yelp crew... fantabulous job as always!

That was another fun event. I say you can't go wrong with free Red Stripe.

I thought the space was cool, although the bathroom scene could use a little revamping and a different lock on the door.

I can't speak to the food, because it rarely made it past the bar.

Overall, a really friendly event, and I met a few of my favorite Yelpers in person for the first time.

I'll definitely go back and check out the food and a movie.

Because it was my first Yelp Elite Event, I *must* thank the wonderful KARA for letting me be her +1, and also Eric L for getting me in touch with Kara in the first place (8 stars!)

I finally got to meet the people that, just as Devon says, I harrass on a daily basis on yelp! I also met some pretty frickin awesome people too:

1. The Big Papa himself, Jeremy--you're a wonderful, wonderful man
2. Nish and Jessica--the part-ay was off the HOOK! ::bows in mad respect:: (I think I saw Connie...but I'm not sure. Tell me if you were there, so I can thank you too! My observation skills are borderline idiotic)
3. Gideon and Susan--you are the most awesome married couple I will probably ever meet in my life
4. Darby and Steve--high-high fives! Next time I wear heels!
5. Devon--whom I think should be ANTM! by the by you have wonderful hair. I'm jealous.
6. Ash and Laura--you guys are frickin cool as a polar bear. and yes, I did take that from the compliment page (lol)

If I missed anyone, I'm sorry. There was alot of free Red Stripe and I took advantage of it (and to that a very, very sincere thank you! :)

The food, from what I had (which was one appetizer and that rice pudding with fruit thingie), was yummy! I will be coming back here when I'm in the mission again. I loved the projector showing foreign films, the music, the atmosphere--it was all too good. Too good!

I hope to get to go to the next one, because there are plenty of people that I need to meet still, and plenty of people to see again!

Thank you Yelp, this Sexii Panda hearts you.

Oooh.... so crazy about this new place!  Loved the huge dance floor and Bollywood films playing on the back wall.  The music was dope --  exotic Indian grooves and cultured hip hop.

You know it's a good Yelp Elite event when...
- Red Stripe is passed out with abandon
- Yelpers bust out their late night freak nasty dance moves
- Someone sparks up a doobie

I can't wait to go back and experience the specialty cocktails.  Based on the owner's success at Little Baobob, they're sure to be spicy and soulful.

P.S.  Karen K. stole the show last night.  Did you check out her Bollywood dress, big gold hoop earrings and shiny black hair?  HOT.  Oh, and she won "most quotable" when she said the Bollywood dancers looked like they were doing some version of Michael Jackson's Thriller.

*thinking to myself*  Do I really have to stand in this long line just to use the restroom?  How could Yelp host a party for a bunch of drunks in a place with only one restroom?  Why is the restroom the size of a entire room?  Bollyhood, get to working on the restroom sitch...ASAP!

Other than that, the apps were great.  Nothing as satisfying as lamb on a sugar cane stick.  The samosas were tasty also.  My sis and I must have posted up in a good spot, because we had easy access to food and the lovely Red Stripe beer the entire time.  We left drunk (which is always a good thing) and lucky for me, the professor lives down the street.  I stopped in for a pee break.  Sister used the Beauty Bar facilities.

Thanks Yelp for another great event.

Note to self:  Next event, I promise to myself to be more social and introduce myself to fellow yelpers.  I did not do this and I suck for it!

YEE! YIPPEE!  Another very interesting night with the Yelp Elite Team!
At least for those of us who were lucky enough to get in.

The venue was small - - no, maybe intimate would be a better description. Just like Scott Howards, they had moved most of the tables out, so it was hard to really tell what it will be like when they are officially open. I never really got the final word on when that will be - or if it already has happened. (The bartender next door even seemed a little unsure when we asked her and bartenders usually know everything!)

FOOD:  I was one of the lucky ones and got to taste several of the wonderful offerings that were floating around on trays. All were scrumptious! The snippet of lamb just melted in my mouth! That is the way lamb should taste! I will be back for more. And, since I'm a desert person, the tapioca/bing cherry thingy, the warm tapioca mango thingy & the coconut cake were all to die for. . . . not your standard fare, but oh so good.

I made "friends" with the beautiful girl who was serving the food right after we came in the door. So, whenever she came out with a tray anywhere near where I was I smiled nicely and got to taste what was on her tray. It all went way too fast. They were just tastes, but just enough to tell me that I should come back here to eat a real meal. And bring friends.

Thank you RED STRIPE for providing what seemed like an endless flow of good beer. I had several. New to me, but I will drink again.

Limited bathroom facilities for this many folks, but again this many folks is not the norm here, I'm sure. Not enough of a problem (unless you were desperate and then the nice place next door was accommodating) and certainly one that was understandable under these circumstances that it was not worth taking a star away for.  Loved the poster on the bathroom wall.

I loved the entire "film" theme built into the deco. Film strip lights around the bar; and the screen and wall film lights in the dining area were an interesting addition to the overall theme. I'm anxious to see what other things the owner does with the "film" theme when we scruffy folks aren't taking up all the room.

YEE's are a great way for businesses to introduce themselves to the Yelp Community and the greater community at large. This night proved that.

YIPPEE!  Absolutely was a YEE to remember!  Met some really nice folks that I hope to exchange reviews with . . . . once my ears stop ringing and, if I can remember their names! Yes, I wrote some of the profile names down.

Thanks Yelp SF Team!  I had a great time!

I had a fantastic time last night at Bollyhood, and furthermore, was able to bring a friend who isn't that big on Yelp. She seemed to enjoy herself very much.

The space was a bit cramped (but with that many people, where will it NOT be cramped?) Red Stripe...can't go wrong with that! Music was actually really awesome, even though it was in a language I didn't understand. And I enjoyed the big screen projection of the Bollywood film.

My only drawback to the event was (1) the music was SUPER loud - we were screaming the entire evening. Turn it down just a notch guys... (2) the poor and hungry huddled around the kitchen and swooped on the food, making anyone that was more than 5 feet away from the kitchen go hungry. I honestly wanted to try at least one or two things to get an idea of the place - that didn't really happen. Maybe set up a small buffet/tray setting so people can help themselves if need be?

Otherwise, the place was bright and colorful - always fun! The staff was super friendly and pleasant. The Yelp Team was on top of it and smiles for all! And...easily located within major public transit. Can't beat that!

All in all, great event you guys. I'm looking forward to the next installment of what I would definitely consider a good time. :)

Yelp Elite events range from 4 to 5 stars, and this is my first 4-star event.  Automatic 4 stars for free food and drink (don't forget to tip) and guaranteed cool folks to hang out with.  It's always fun to play "compare the online persona with the real thing" ;-)  It was hella crowded, and the food was scarce - nothing that hasn't been said before - but it was still a great time.  Oh yeah, one bathroom and free booze is a scary, scary thing.  Next time, the Yelp Elite events should be sponsored by Depends Undergarments!

note how much of a wallflower I must have been, the only photo I can find of me there even though it was packed.  http://www.flickr.com/...
yeah, the guy peeping in the back.  That's me.

I definitely dig the Bollyhood vibe.  The food, the drink, the Bollywood/Indian TV in the back might just be worth it all by itself . . .

I want to thank yelp for starting the year off proper by throwing another killer event.  As I entered the event I positioned myself in a strategic spot at the bar, I grabbed myself a yelp shot glass (sick!!) and a few yelp buttons which were laid out on the bar.

The complimentary Red Stripe was much appreciated, as were the many many trays of hours dourves and food that came from the kitchen.

On one of my trips to the bathroom a fellow yelper commented how she read my north bay reviews.  OMG!!  Someone actually reads my reviews besides my friends (who I bribe to do so).  I swelled with pride.

One of the red stripe girls made a fatal mistake and said something to me, which lead to me spraying her with conversation for the next 15 minutes.   I turn around to see my +1 with a group of 3-4 girls he's never met before high fiving them and shouting, and I know all is well.

I re-spawned back at the BART station where I'm asking every passenger what stop you use to transfer to the Richmond train.  A sympathetic Brazilian couple took me under their care as if I were a lost child and got me to the right train.

When I was a younger man, I could throw all manner of drink in my mouth and somehow my body would react, cope and get me through it.  These days... I wake up at 5am sweating + headache.  Mental note; no need to for drinks BEFORE the events.

Thank you Yelp!

SO MUCH FUN!!!

Yelp rules.  That's all there is to it.  How can you NOT give 5 stars to an event that features free food and free beers?  C'mon!

Sure, the bathroom was DEFINITELY insufficient for the party, and Yelpers descended upon the sparse food like a pack of hungry vikings at an all-you-can-eat buffet in a brothel, but who are we kidding here?  That's four samosas that I wouldn't have eaten if not for the Yelp Party.

I was astonished that they kept beer stocked for pretty much the whole time!  When we first got there, Nick H. suggested that we hoard beers because they'd run out quick.  So five minutes later we had a beer and each hand and one in the pocket.  But as it turns out, there was plenty for all, even the free-beer-binge-drinkers like us!

I love you, Yelp.  Thanks for a truly magical evening.

A great concept:  cool bar setting with Indian bar food, brunch to come (apparently), good stretch of 19th, very nice folks.  I went to a soft opening/Yelp event, so it's not (perhaps) the full experience, but it was a great experience, complete with free Red Stripes (thanks to their sponsorship), delicious hors d'oeuvres, and the bonus of Russ from Cha Cha Cha (there with the Red Stripe guy, because if you go to Cha Cha Cha, you know that it's all about the Red Stripe (when it's not all about the sangria and the food).

P.S.  Double review on Bollywood because Yelp asked me to post it here on the Elite event link (she says apologetically) .  (I made minor changes to reflect the Elite event.)

I like meeting fellow Yelpers.

But in the end let's face it; unless you've been on the site for multiple years (i have just two to my credit) or are really good at attracting hordes of acolytes on social networking sites, you probably come to these events for the free booze and food.

That of course doesn't mean that I didn't greatly enjoy watching Brittany D. go crazy dancing to the music, chatting with the very affable (and attractive) Red Stripe girls or picking Ankur's brain about Yelp stuff.  Everyone was having a decent amount of fun and while it did get a little crowded in certain areas, it was still a good time.

Of particular entertainment was the bathroom line.  The guy in front of me had about 43 different ideas on how to relieve oneself, none of which involved using the Bollyhood bathroom.  The guy behind me was some dude who had no idea what Yelp was but he was taking full advantage of the free Red Stripes and was quite a humorous fellow.  This doesn't even factor in the food.  Who would've guessed that waiting in line for the bathroom would be pole position for tasting everything that came out of the kitchen?  The servers had to walk right by the bathroom line and I saw at least three trays of food get demolished before they even made it out to the main room.  Of course, I helped.

The placement of a table distributing Red Stripe beers in the middle of the main dance/mingling area was a stroke of genius.  Upon entering Bollyhood, I was quite distraught thinking that we'd have to wade through the mass of 60 people crowded around the bar for the free beer.  Good job Yelp, it seemed like everyone was able to get a beer without much trouble and it lasted almost the duration of the event.  The food was pretty tasty as well, I'll have to try to make it out when this joint opens.

I know you have to RSVP within 90 seconds of getting the email invite or you get waitlisted but I'm definitely going to try to go the next event...

Yay Yelp! Here's why the BollyHood event gets five stars from cranky Lisa T.:

* A rockin' good time, especially nice for us parents of little tots, who never ever get to have this much fun before 9 o'clock;
* The crankin' tunes from "Om Shanti Om" and other Bollywood films;
* Shah Rukh Khan in "Don" playing on the big screen;
* The wonderful Yelp crowd;
The fact that BollyHood was founded by a friend of mine (but that didn't influence this review) and I'm so proud of him!

Twas fun.

Good music, good free beer (Red Stripe) and correspondingly cool bottle opener keychain (was getting tired of my Guiness one anyway).

Good food, tho the spicy veggie salad cup came at a very bad time--right as the beer ran out! Luckily Adam M, bless his heart, let me steal a few sips from his to cool my flaming palate.

Bathroom line was too long, but I'm not holding that against them. Another kickass event from the Yelp team!

Good times last night at Bollyhood. The place is pretty cute, long slender dining area and a bar area on the other side. This will cut the noise level a bit when it opens as a restaurant.
The food was hard to come by, but when the servers came my way there were some tasty nibbles like lamb on a sugar cane stick and mini Indian 'hamburgers'.
The Bollywood film showing on the screen was fun to watch while the DJ kept the thrills going.
They don't have a full kitchen, so it will be interesting to see what their menu will be, I guess they'll be sharing with Bissap.
Thank you Red Stripe for the lubrication!

I just found a Red Stripe banner in my coat pocket tied in a double windsor... YES!

Unfortunately I didn't put any bottles, samosas or lamb in that pocket last night, or I would have a pretty good lunch right now...

Mari C. and I and our +1s (Andrew M. and Katherine R.) had an excellent time at Bollyhood last night! I see the definite potential of some dance-floor action there in the next few weeks!

Thanks Bollyhood and Yelp!

Big thanks to the folks at Bollyhood, as well as the yelp crew for making this happen. Had loads of fun met some new yelpers and had some tasty food and drink, a dope night all in all! Had to abscond to R Bar a little early with my homies Helen L. and Maurice T. to beat the crowd out of there, but it's all good.

Thanks a million yelp!

Another year, another Yelp Elite event.  Nice way to start off the year at Bollyhood, complete with complementary Red Stripe, Bollywood flicks and lots of fun, somewhat familiar faces.

I brought a good friend who is new to Yelp, she was impressed and even knew a few of the OG Yelp crew.  Man this city is SMALL.

I knew I was in for a treat when Nish ambushed me at the front door and forced me into a radio interview with KQED.  I was screaming over the loud drone of Yelp voices and hipster tunes.  I probably sounded like a total dork...but as always, when Nish calls...
You owe me one Nadaraja.

The event was cool, but there definitely weren't enough eats.  People always under-estimate how much food us Yelpers can chow down on in a 2-hour time period.

Its usually kind of hard to get a real sense of what it will be like to come to a place when its not full to the ceiling with crazy yelpers of the elite  persuasion.  However, I got really excited to come back to Bollyhood.

The decor is fun, the food (what little morsels you could grab from the poor servers) was great and the music caused me to dance uncontrollably.

The menu on the chalkboard made my mouth water (so much that I had to stop at Cha Cha Cha on the way home).

Can't wait to check it out again and of course, HOORAY BEER!

I totally was geeking out at Bollyhood last night -- my first Elite event. I had a great time there and drank far too many Red Stripes. I was positive one of the Red Stripe girls was going to say something about how many beers I was throwing back, but they never did!

Met a few of my favorite Yelpers and then proceeded to get wasted.

I had one tiny bite of food and that it was it. But from what I tasted, it was delicious.

Fun times for sho
More intimate (in a non-creepy way) than the massive free-for-all  2007 Holiday party
Met some cool peeps there last night including Jaime L, Steve S,Mea , Nish N and big boss man himself, Jeremy S
Bonus points, cuz my SO didn't leave there upset and crying (which to some is a sign of a good party)

It was really fun, and I can't wait to come back to the restaurant!  The place is a little bit smaller than I thought it would be, but the service was excellent.   Kudos to the server with a beard who locked eyes with me when he was walking around the appetizers!

P.S. I sorta wondered if a fire marshall was going to drop by, but it was much better when some of the people cleared out.

Great event! Having Red Stripe available both at the bar and at a table (complete with bottle openers- good thinking!) in the main room made it easy to get a beer when I wanted one. The music was excellent, and after my second Red Stripe I was ready to break out into song and dance. The projected movies added to the vibe- and I loved the decor, which was rich in reds and golds. I also appreciated this event's proximity to BART for easy transportation.

The snack situation wasn't optimal though, because there were only a few trays being carried, and by the time the hungry mob standing around the kitchen exit had their fill, there was nothing left.  However, being conveniently located in the Mission, there were many choices for an after-party bite. Yeah Yelp!

4.5 stars for the event.

Kudos to:

1. The roving servers.  They did a great job, considering the crowd, getting through.
2. The bartenders.  Busy, busy, busy - but they had a smile every time I mouthed 'Red Stripe'.
3. Bollyhood.  The food was good (I love spicy meat impaled on sugar cane) and while I wasn't expecting to be fed a full meal, I wish I'd had been able to at least taste all the offerings. The space is cool and I will be back. Loved the music and videos.
4. Yelp HQ for doing a great job hosting.

No love for:

1. Just one bathroom.  Eek.
2. Kinda too many people in the space.
