Sweet place. Awesome job to the organizers, Peter, Jane, Miriam and that guy who takes all the pictures.
B-EAST had a good mix of flash and flavor.
The drinks and service couldn't be better. Hot waitresses always seem to get my attention, but they were on point. The finger foods were yummm.
The atmosphere was awesome too. It made me feel like i was flashing through the eighties to the ninety's and then to the present. Freaky feeling when your tipsy.
Altogether it was a great spot that i will be hitting up again
I'd like to thank Peter, Jane, Miriam, Chantelle and the rest of Yelp for reserving a great place like B. East to throw me a huge birthday party. No, really, from the bottom of my heart I really do love what you did for me. That you called it a "Kickoff Celebration for Yelp BEautiful Week" as a ruse to get me to show up for this surprise birthday party, I really didn't mind.
The free drinks and the free food that you gave out to 200 of my closest friends was wonderful. Listen, I know you guys are going to keep on with the charade of having the rest of the week for manicures, pedicures, facials and whatnot. But just know that I will be forever grateful for what you did to honor the greatness that is me and my birthday.
And on we go with the shout-outs:
alan g: Lanky Apples is a star indeed. Why? because he's the one who gave me his extra +1 and for that I am seriously grateful.
craig n: yet another person who went out of his way to greet me a happy birthday. The tongue down my ear i don't get but i'll take anything at this point
molly c: gave me the best birthday present I got this year. i shall not reveal what that present is but let's just say that I needed a few minutes of "quiet time" in the men's room to recover (that's a joke)
becca s: it's always great to see a fellow member of Bizarre Love Quadrangle. that she didn't hit me upside the head when she saw my Red Sox shirt is a surprise.
michael f: gave me the best birthday greeting of the evening, and for that i'm most appreciative
jeff c: put a bracelet around my wrist, which means that we're going steady, kids. Don't be jealous.
Mo P: met her for about 10 seconds, but 9 of those seconds was getting hugged by her. WOW!
irene: it's not an Elite Event without her. Those who didn't get to meet her don't understand the magnitude of how great she is. (and i'm not just saying that because she bought me a drink)
victor: yes, you can come out of hiding. It's no longer my birthday.
Ro: i love talking to her about how we never know who the hell all these people are.
Gia: gave me a birthday hug at the end of the night, which i absolutely loved.
oriana: yeah, yet another person who makes going out that much entertaining
lara r: okay, i didn't see her here but she hugged me later in the night. (Please refer to 169 Bar review, coming soon)
Ting and Rob: (Please refer to 169 Bar review, coming soon)
Ki: what a sweet, sweet person. we'll talk more at the next shindig.
James F: dude, i don't know what you were doing underneath the stairs with that chick, but more power to you. (oh, this should go under the "Start a Rumor" thread, shouldn't it?)
peter d: like a proud father, i'm still in awe of my boy getting to work with Yelp. Yeah, he gets paid to be a funny dude. Bastard.
and to any and all I didn't single out, just know that it was great seeing you and I do appreciate you coming to my birthday party....oops, I mean the "Elite Event at B.East" (wink, wink)
Worshiped favorites, Becca S. and Kathleen R.

Dinner beckons; it's time to hop -
See you all at Pete's Candy Shop!
I worked pretty late...I hadn't actually used the rsvp function but luckily Mo P figured as much and made me her +1. I explained my lack of ability to rsvp to Peter when he asked why I was a plus one. I was surprised he didnt yell out, "you are a failure." But of course, I am...
Fact is, I had gotten busy, didnt care much about beauty week at first and thought maybe the eye candy at a place called beast during beauty week might be your average shave my thick mustache and help me lie to the men I meet kinda women. Luckily, that was not the case, as there was plenty of eye candy and I didnt see a leg hair in the place. If I missed yours, its ok, this week you can get that taken care of at a discount! Yay!
So when I got in, I was late, the place was crowded, there were easily a hundred new and previously unencountered people talking and drinking. The bartender asked what I wanted. I said um...vodka cran? Mistake. This woman brings me this big Pimp Cup filled with some red elixir and then goes, "ten dollars please." Durp Durp to me...so I tipped her and rolled with it and walked around to say hi with my Pimp cup, answering over and over again why I had this huge cup with red juice in it. Then a bunch of us just relaxed and enjoyed the vibe...
It was a nice venue, with two floors, two bars, and a sizable space all things considered. Kudos to Jane, Miriam and Peter for putting together a great event! Then we went to a secret after party and I was doing the two step with Oriana to music our mommys used to listen to (and that we were both possibly conceived to). Crazy enough, after a while, the whole place started singin along with us...it was like the top gun, you lost that loving feeling thing, only with some rhythm and without the creepy dude stalking the chick....(Poor Katie Holmes..run girl..dont look back..hes fast...I saw him jump that couch...)
As for the Romper Room....ahem...ahem...I was drinking...so please forgive me...
I saw Oriana and Jesse and Wendy( good luck with Mr. Poe) and Gia...
I saw Peter and Jane (she saw me too) and Kevin and Karen
I saw Andre and Allen and Pat and daniela
I saw Ki, her brother, her funny African friend (your secret is safe w/me)
I saw Nicole (now you know why I dont take those buttons) and Jennine
I saw Liz (thanks for not pointing)
I saw Kevin and James...becca and christopher...
I saw craig, Bryan, Jeff and Jim...
I saw Roderick...and Rachel
I saw Mo (thanks for being my chaperone!)
its 4 am and I have court so if I didnt mention you, of course friend, I saw you! I try so hard not to say names....after all, I know how i felt when the romper room lady never said mine.. Now I am going to count my yelp friends jumping over +1s till I fall asleep (who needs sheep)...
Kathleen & Becca: Oh, look, more food! [to server] Are those sliders?
Server: They're GRASS FED sliders.
K&B: (knowingly) Ooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
[munching noises]
In all honesty, the server probably could have told us they were poop-fed sliders and we'd still have chomped down--as K is wont to say, this was not our first rodeo. And like anyone who's been to a Yelp event with passed hors d'oeuvres will tell you, if there is a non-empty plate of food in front of you, you eat the food, because it may not pass your way again. And also, you are drunk.
B.East was a great place to have a party, because you could walk all around with Christopher I and stop whenever one of you saw someone you knew. You could go downstairs, where you could FINALLY FINALLY meet Kyle H and Andy L, or you could go upstairs, where you could chat with the captivating Liz C and share passing hugs with Oriana and Alan. You could linger in narrow hallways with Tori and Edward; you could babble at length with sisters Danielle and Natalie D.
But no matter where you were, you could always have a tasty, fruity, environmentally aware beverage in your hands, a phenomenon I found truly impressive given the guest-to-bartender ratio. What's more, unlike after the Bubble Lounge event, you didn't come home and start cooking no-boil lasagna noodles, which is almost certainly a good sign that tomorrow is going to be A-OK.
Guys.
We need to have a serious discussion here.
Jane K., Miriam W., Peter D. and other Yelp NY HQ-ooligans need to be tested for performance enhancing substances. They routinely knock these parties outta the park and it's really fucking suspicious.
Oh hell - let's call off the Salem witch hunt. Ignorance is bliss. I don't care what you guys are on, just keep padding those stats.
Anyways, I don't want to ramble* so I'll just call the event, "sexy" - staff, people, eats, venue etc.
Not so sexy? Myself, apparently - but thank you to the Yelpers who told me I look exactly like my photographs. Considering that I'm one un-photogenic sonofagun, you successfully made me feel like shit. Gone are my delusions of "I look a lot better in 3D, right, RIGHT?"
Also, I apologize to Molly for my offensive sweater. It cried itself to sleep in my wardrobe as I sent it back to 1992 per your request.
Alas, don't cry for me Yelp-entina! I don't have a complex! All hits to my ego evaporated when I was kidnapped after the event and forced to imbibe alcohol against my will at a spontaneous after party... That part about being forced is a dirty lie; my lanky butt loved every second of it.
In summation, I can't wait for Roderick's next surprise birthday party.
(-1 star because +2s, +3s, and +4s made getting a drink a lengthy and dangerous - danger of the triple-fisting variety - process and did not significantly add to my experience.
Plus, some ladies William the Mack Master talked to didn't even know what Yelp was! BLASPHEMY! I demand you put down your complimentary cocktails and make sacrificial offerings of roasted suckling pigs!
I'll even make it easy for you by allowing you to give them to me, as my responsible self will ensure they get to the proper authorities... The proper authorities of course being MAH BELLAAAAAY!)
*fail.
Kudos to Yelp NYC for finding another another sexy venue, complete with complimentary cocktails, delish snackies, lush surroundings and a captivating crowd (as always). And extra special because the event kicked off Yelp Beautiful Week -- my excuse to get a mani / pedi without breaking the bank*
Couldn't stay long, but that didn't stop me and Becca S. from grabbing bubbly at the door, then salted cod, followed by some sort of duck potato salad on toast points, truffle chips and grass-fed sliders. Yay for fancy comfort food.
Kisses to the lovely ladies of Yelp and Peter D - these people are like event fairies, always floating around the party and whispering useful things like, "did you see the downstairs bar?" or "did you get your complimentary show tickets?" Love it. I mean come on, where else can you go and have someone say, "I've been a fan of yours for ages!" during the introduction? Worth five stars in and of itself.
*Now, if only I could have a few of those free drinks before my upcoming bikini wax...."YEEEEEEEEEEELP!"
I would like to extend a big thank you to the following people;
-First and foremost; Miriam, Jane, and Peter D for organizing such a great event at BEast (Reasons to be Pretty?! Truffle Chips?! Grass-fed Sliders?! What?!)
-Gia & Andre for organizing dinner AND the after-party...shhh...
-Apples/Alan, Molly, Craig, Bryan, Jeff C., Pat, Tori, and Jim for letting me stalk you incessantly.
-Liz C, Roderick, David L, Victor, Tony, Irene, Christopher, David, and Karen F. for letting me pinch your asses per the official Elite greeting.
-Wendy, Ki G (and your brother), Mo P., Kevin F., James, and Jamel for putting up with my ridiculousness/singing.
-Samira for letting me corrupt and introduce her to other people.
-Random South Asian hottie dude for letting me cut the line for the bathroom...without even asking!?
I love you boo - come find me so I can corrupt you, too.
My face hurts.
Would a vodka tonic by any other name taste as sweet? Yes...and no.
Would a vodka tonic by the (horrible) name of Treetini, made with VeeV Acaí Spirit, taste as sweet? YES! (If it was free)
Yelpers and fellow listeners out there in radioland, this was a great event and I'm crying for you if you didn't get down to B.East (worst bar name ever) for this fantastic event. Yelp gurus down at HQNY were really onto something kicking off Beauty week at a bar called Beast.
But beastly it was not--this is one sexy venue for an event. The ivy...the charming downstairs bar...the labyrinthine halls downstairs in search of uncrowded bars...the free flowing cocktails (if you were able to belly up to the bar)...the lovely yelpers (no qualification needed here Becca S., or Kathleen R., or Liz C., not to mention Tori K., or Jamel O., or Oriana J.)...and let's not forget the free B'way tix (no qualification needed here either).
And wow. That cod snack was great. I must return to this place to get another one sometime. Once again, great job Peter, Jane, Miriam. You're riding high on a stream of awesome events. So don't go too long without another one--or I might go through Acai withdrawals.
(Well, not really.) But...where was the raffle? How did I miss that final drawing when you called my name, and I triumphantly jumped onstage to claim my week's worth of massages, and a lifetime supply of cucumbers?
I lugged my mat because I was looking forward to doing tipsy yoga at 9 pm. However, after 5, 6 or was it 7 Acai drinks?... I thought it safer to skip yoga and take it to the bar across the street.
I've been to B. East for dinner...It's in a great part of town and the space is lovely. The menu is mostly vegetarian, thus I was a bit surprised when I took a sip of bacon juice. Oh well... I haven't had pork since my brothers smuggled it in my marinara sauce in the mid 90s. Not sure if any of the other hors d'oeuvres were high on the hog ..but I wasn't about to find out. I'm sure they were delish.
It was nice seeing and chatting with familiar folks. Mucho gracias to the staff for their hard work and to Peter D for his warm welcome. Not only does he have impeccable manners...muchacho is down to earth and cute as a button.
I love these parties but I always cringe the next day at my drunken not quiet ready yet pics
Hillary (our amazing photographer) rocks but because I'm retarded can we do a "Say Yelp!" before each picture?1....2...3 ...... :-D or else I'm a mess.
I had a really great time but I'm still left wondering - Who the heck were those people??? The few of us who did know each other were practically glued to each other the whole night, but looking back I wish I'd approached a few +1's and spoke to them about Yelp and why they should join.
Then again I think I traumatized the one person I did try to reform. Poor Howard C.........A 1/1 Orange Head who happens to love Maritza's Mexican Food in San Diego. Miriam and I gave him the business to the point that we left him screaming "I'll Write More Reviews!!"
Howard C. I hope you do write more reviews because it's "Fon to Due" (strictly a Howard and I joke not meant for laughter by the average review reader)
Speaking of Miriam, it was really cool to finally hang out with her and Jane at an event. For bigwigs they are ridiculously down to earth and super fun.
I think our crew held down the bar pretty well as only Elite can, I would consider trying that Veev Acai Vodka again- although the double fisting got some people a little too drink happy.
It was so nice to meet you Liz C. (see it's not so bad meeting people at events) and Samira.
Dr. Becca I swear I wasn't trying to hit on Jesse on the threads I really thought no one was seeing his really awesome reviews!
Jeff - Bathing Ape hat's go with anything -Not Just Jeans- everyone knows your a Yelp Fashion Icon anyway.
So glad to see everyone in my circle last night: Craig, Pete, Ori (good call on the Kobe Sliders babe at dinner) Kev, Mo, Jamel,Apples,Kii, Molly, and Bryan.
Thank you guys for coming to the After After After After After Party I'm still recovering!!
So, guess it's out there in the open. I'm a ferocious, violent person. Especially with alcohol. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr. A drink in each hand and I'm bound to go all ape on everyone, sorry about that!
(Actually, I apparently gave a girl a "look" later in the night..... oops. Kisses!!!)
What else to say that hasn't been said? I think we all looked perty dang beautiful even though it was pre-wax and polish for the week for many of you. Kind of shocked that the bars kept running out of glasses, then mixers, then patience.... but maybe we're an exhausting crowd, or the bartenders had a touch o' the Mondays.
Jamel and Kevin, you guys are the best little +1's a girl could ask for. Thanks for watching out for me (clearly I need it). I can only hope that more people will have the pleasure of hearing Oriana's live concerts - you all missed out! Jeff- you doll you, I'm just going to pretend I'm the only one you gave a bracelet to. I'll feel more special that way. Gia, Andre- gallery hoppin/ wine sipping soon! And Essex, Michael. Can't wait. It'll be a step up from egg sandwiches, no?
At least 2 of the following 3 conversations may have happened at BEast.
" So when I was 15, I was wasted after a show, and I got dropped off in front of Hopkins. My arm was sliced open, but we stopped the blood with a friends tampon. It was a clean one, but I still think she gave me syphilis, it was Baltimore after all."
" Hey +1, meet XYZ, we're going to have 'brownies' and Cap'n Crunch one day."
" Hey Apples, whats the secret to a prosperous life?" ... (looking at acai drink) ... "Drinks made from Apple Juice, obviously.""
Fantastic venue, as if I thought it would be anything less. Great to finally meet Kyle & Andy - two hysterical hidden gem reviewers. Of course, Andy needs a new headline to make Elite, but I doubt that bourgeoisie a-hole wants it. There are only so many coke spots that can be yelp'ed without the Feds getting alerted, and he's filled his quota.
Oriana, Mog, Peter D, Andre, William, Gia, Jim, Becca, Jamel, always a pleasure. Nice to finally meet Krey, who's speakeasy reviews Ive kept bookmarked. Where Queens at!?!?! heyyyyyyyyyyy KI! Justin- I'd call you, but I have to watch what I say on the phones. Page me so we stay off The Wire.
I also discovered that Becca is Jesse's Fantasy Baseball messenger. I'll have to go to her to collect my payday. Let that be a warning shot fellas!
In all seriousness, +1 (Daniela) was amazed at how friendly everyone is, despite the fact that most of us have barely met. Excellent drinks, excellent apps- "wait, this is all free? Yelp rocks!" ... yep, I'd have to agree.
Great event Miriam, Peter, Jane, et al.!
The space was really nice and the food was a-mazing.. scallop and pancetta soup was delish as were the sliders and chips at the bar, props to B.East! I didn't try the champagne but the Acai drink was solid, think my first one was the best, tons of fruit, as the night went on and they ran out of glasses, the drinks got smaller and a little less elaborate, no prob though, I was drinking "responsibly."
I rolled with my man Apples because my bromance [you know who he is by now] was gettin over a cold; though hangin around him and Craig made me wish I was little bit taller, wish I was a baller.. I saw a few vague.. very vague familiar faces from the Mardi Gras event, ahem, and met the now infamous Liz C, who left well, to..ya know. Andre and Gia took a group of us to one of their fave spots and it did not disappoint, I definitely saw drinks on fire and a chemistry set.
Shout Outz! Oriana, Irene, Justine, Ki & Kris, Pearl, Mo P, Jamel, Pat B., Kevin F, William B
Oh, and I didn't get wasted at a Yelp event, yes, that is possible folks.
See ya at Pete's!
Due to my intoxication, I really didn't meet that many new yelpers but got the opportunity to hang out with some of my favorites:
Gia-I love you babe, thanks for taking care of me
Oriana and Peter-Thanks for dinner
Pat b- Stay off those cell phones and we're out to Hamsterdam
Alan-super cool
Jamel-pimpin
Kevin-partner in crime
Mo P-We have to hit up the galleries
Peter D-Yelp guru
Craig- The coolest guy that I have ever met
Miriam-probably on review #907,853,267
Michael-You're the man
I had a lot of fun at the secret after party and see you guys at the next one.
If the quality of an event is tied solely to the quantity of hangover it induces, this gets six stars. Alas, I can only give five (insert virtual star here). I will say that there were delicious drinks (which were clearly ingested in quantity as evidenced by the ensuing hangover), lovely Yelpers, some of whom who I'd never met before, and loads of good clean fun. I did not really sample any of the food, but I hear it was great.
Keep them Elite parties comin'!
Oh mah gawd.
I had such a good time here it was not even funny. (What is the meaning of this euphemism?)
The organizers - Hat's off once again to Peter, Miriam and Jane. You guys rock, but you know this already right?
Location - can I say seckshy? Oh so seckshy! And the people ain't that bad either...
Food - The scallop soup, the risotto balls, the codfish canapes, the green market pizza - all terrific, and I think sold my brother on having my "oldest friend in the world's" birthday here next week.
Drinks - from the Rosé served when I entered to the multiple Treetini's to the Honest Abe's tea. So, so tasty.
Yelpers - I won't mention the after party here because it's neither here nor there. However, at the event itself I managed to lose my fear of speaking to people (dutch courage?) and was able to mix and mingle with my Yelp peeps. All of whom are really fabulous.
Jeff C., thanks for keeping me company until my tardy +1's arrived.
Hi Billy!
pat b., Bayside Represent! And your +1 was really sweet, I hope she jumps on the Yelp bandwagon.
I spied with my little eye Oriana and she pinched my elbow, which was only the start of the evening we'd share together...
Got to finally introduce myself to Roderick A., pleasant meeting that was! Jamel O. was a perfectly charming gentleman and I liked our candid discussion about style and where one goes to find it.
I commiserated with Kevin F. over missing Miami.
Craig N. - dude you're pretty awesome yourself.
Gia & Andre - such a cute couple and thanks for letting me and my posse tag along to the, err, after party. ;)
Alan G. - thanks for not running away when I launched myself at you and insinuated myself (my brother and his friend) into your conversation.
If I'm missing anyone from the above list, it's because I lost some brain cells (again) - but I know that I also got to chat with Justin P. and hang with Mo P.
So many Yelpers, so little time. I think I might stick to being chatty!
Wait! Is it Monday or is it a Saturday night? Who cares! Because you sure couldnt tell! From the moment Mo P. and I walked up to Peter "chill" D. outside I felt that little rush of excitement overcome me, the place was absolutely awesome! As we are walking down the first staircase we scoop up a delicious scallop drink from a server and made our way through the dimly lit looooong never ending stone hallway to grab our first Acai drink at the downstairs bar, and like every event I turn my head & WHAM! there's Gia, Andre and Craig double fisting drinks!
I didnt care about meeting new yelpers this evening (or the unfriendly yelpers), I was having a blast enjoying the wonderful chemistry and energy of our group, but I did meet some pretty cool new yelpers!
Alan- Awesome dude, good times
Andre- Def partner in crime!
Gia- Open your eyes in the pics Gia! lol
Oriana- You got some moves girl! Damn!
Jamel- Keeps it real (glad we were on the same page)
Mo P- Wild mo is your new name! (ill be your +1 anytime!)
Peter D- Im chillin man!
Craig- Cool ass dude, south dakota is now interesting to me!
Ki - Awesome young woman ; ) (your bro is a funny dude too)
Molly - "im not drunk"... yeah
Jane K - You rock! nicest smile ever!
William B - Mackin' it to the non yelpers man!
Confident brunnete rocking "the bob" - Beautiful!! but your friends suck for giving me a dirty look because I complimented you and not their ugly long hair.
The secret afterparty was awesome! Theres very few Monday's that this type of magic happens! Cant wait to do it again! Great job yelp crew!
I was late to the event...way too late that I only got myself 1.5 drinks.. I guess that explains how late I was
It's a very nice place.. enjoy the downstairs.. I wouldn't find this place if it's not because of the event. Thanks yelp once again
Shoutouts
Jane K( love your yelper jacket.. can I have one too)

.........and all others that I apologize I didn't recall your name
See you all next event!!!
So, this was my first Elite Event. Before I go to my review, shout-out to Miriam, Jane and Peter for spending a lot of time coordinating the party.
I arrived around 6:40 pm, and there was already a line outside of B.East. So, I got on line like everyone else and looked around to see if I recognized anyone from their profile pics. I turned around and who do I see but Frank W. We had a good conversation about the minefield that is NY talk threads and how people are too rigid in their ideologies. When we all got into B.East right around 7:00, Miriam greeted us and pointed us to the bar for the free drinks.
After having two drinks and walking around the first floor, I spotted Pat "Stringer Bell" B. and Kia. After briefly chatting with them, I made my way back to the far-end of the bar and started talking with James F. Not surprisingly, our conversation soon ended up revolving around the greatness of Lost. In the midst of our convo, Wendy C. strolls into the area with her name tag on her right hip. We three hung-out a fair amount throughout the night. It was also nice to meet Lucy L., although she wasn't jumping around the bar like she does in most of her pictures on Yelp ;)
As for the food, the truffle chips and the appetizers that were served were pretty good. And, the free drinks were obviously a nice touch. I also liked the fact that I saw a number of people actually tipping the bartenders (which I recall reading was a problem at the last couple of elite events).
Overall, I am looking forward to the next Elite Event and potentially meeting more Yelpers I have chatted with either via messages or on the talk threads.
I actually didn't want to go since A and I were both tired...HELLO IT'S MONDAY!
I wanted to go since I wasn't sure if T was going to surprise me and show up without telling me, since T loves to do that! T's a damn tease!
A and I already made plans to meet A there too, so we ended up going at the last minute.
Finally met the new SAM...her name is Jane K and I also met hmmm I don't know what he is really...perhaps the new Russ????
His name is Pete!
I didn't meet anyone new except this one gracious dude who offered his drinks to A and I - totally cool because Chivalry is dead, well in NY.
(A and I ended up not drinking it because I think it was just straight up vodka with a lime garnish!)
Speaking of Chivalry, this one dude who has no clue what this term means....he's the dude with the Afro rocking some nerdy glasses who rushed to the bar and seriously knocking A and I over! He was very impatience when it came to getting his drinks.
It's like dude, relax and slow your roll!
He demanded 3 drinks and zoomed off and NOT TIPPING AT ALL.
OMG can you be even uglier and not to mention SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DAMN TACKY!
You demand drinks and yet you don't tip?
GOSH!
Free Drinks = STRAIGHT UP UGLINESS!
It's not that serious, you cheap bastard!
Talked to the girlies and Rod, since that's the only people I associate with besides my T and the only Yelpers that I know.
So I have to give this event 3 stars because that Cheap Bastard just made this event straight up UGLY!
Best anecdote for yet another manic Monday. Feeling like a chill house party vibe if your house were this huge gorgeous modern space with large red banguettes.
This event brought to us by the Yelp ambassadors extraordinairre- thank you Ms. Jane and Peter D. for a smashing soiree.
Sitting at banguettes with friends and other yelpers felt ohhhhhh so good.
People were happy and friendly as the event was so low key and fun.
Food was killer as B.East the former veggie restaurant turned New American served up some great grub. Highlights were the sliders on a potato bread with gooey cheese, pumpkin risotto balls with truffle oil, a scallop veloute with pancetta was smooth baconey heaven and of course those addictive chips. Voluminous amounts of food and killer drinks too. My appointment at Sothy's is booked for Friday on lifebooker with 50% off- can't wait.
Once again, what a great event, even though I arrived kind of late-- if only I didn't have to work! :(
Loved the acai drink, again reminded me of home, the bracelet was super cute, the buttons/pins were awesome- I collected all of them, and I am excited about my theater tickets. All thats left is my beautiful hoodie! The chips were so good too-- addictive! I am also in love with my new mini subway map-- WHICH INCLUDES BROOKLYN!!
Saw some people I met at the last event which was cool, and met some new ones. Again, thanks for a great job Yelp! Had so much fun and can't wait for the next event--
My very first yelp event..well it would've been my second if I hadn't RSVPed to the wrong Mardi Gras event hahaha...I know I'm such a ditz at times.
The food and drinks were great and I had great company with me as well. Thank you for hosting this event at such an awesome place!
This Yelp Elite event had great food and was not super crowded, just how I like 'em!
Did anyone else like those garlic sweet potato chips and the sausage burgers?
B.East is a cool new venue. I like the basement bar area. A couple of friends have already held their birthdays there. If I were to throw a b-day party, I would strongly consider this venue. FYI, I'm not celebrating this year. Too much destruction has been wrought over the past two years...
Great event. The food and drinks were the best so far... thank goodness for Brazil!
Those chips seriously were addicting. I kept saying I didn't like them but I continued to eat them all night.
Loved the sexy atmosphere and red seats. My friends and I filled a booth and spent the night sipping and chatting. What a great way to start the week. :-P
Another wonderful Yelp Elite Soirée at a cool location, B.East
I would've never known this place existed if not for Yelp even though I grew up around that area, actually 3 blocks away. My how much the area has changed.
Kudos to Jane K. (You rock!), Peter D., Chantelle, Miriam and the rest of the Yelp crew! Another successful event! Thanks for all the hard work!
The fried risotto balls, fried cod fish, scallop and panchetta soup and ceviche were delicious.
Happy as always to shoot the breeze with my friends Jeff C., Renee M., Pearl K., Tony C., Ting S., Rob L., Ki G., Rod A., Edward F.
I also made some new friends, Mog C. (You caught me waiting to snipe the food) and Liz C.
The venue was very nice and roomy enough to handle the crowd. Great people, good food, good location makes for Great times!
Yelp NYC Rules!
Thank you Yelp for putting on another great event. It is really a blast to turn out to these parties, meet new people, and have a great time! Specifically, I now know to thank Peter and Jane -- it was great seeing both of you last night. Way to put on a party!
Having champagne again was very nice. It is always a great way to kick off a party or a romance. The vodka cocktails were interesting. I really enjoyed the appetizers. The cod on pumpernickel bread (that looked like a small deep fried mozzarella stick) was just great! Spot on. I enjoyed the sliders as well. The only miss was the veloute of scallop. Others raved, but I regretted that one. I think it started a chemical reaction with all of the different alcohol I had up to that point. The truffle chips seemed unremarkable in taste to me, yet I couldn't stop eating them. I am genetically predisposed towards truffles I guess. Or maybe I have a truffle deficiency. Seriously though, everything was just great.
I was happy to see Oriana, Peter, Pete, Craig, and Molly again. It was also great meeting Mog, Alan, Liz, and Jeff and several other people whose names I have sadly forgotten and/or can't remember at the moment. I hope to see them and more at the next one!
Fun fun!
I really should have mingled a lot more with all the wonderful Yelpers. But I was way too distracted by all the food and delicious bowls of chips! Sorry, I skipped dinner and was close to eating all the free chapstick. Thank you Feline L. for being my +1 and eating just as many chips as I did to make me feel less bad haha :D
First appearance at a Yelp happy hour and boy does it not disappoint. I have to admit that I was skeptical about the location (Broadway East - CTown) and had googled the place (Broadway East - Restaurant/ Lounge/ Bar) prior to coming and was intrigued. Let's just say Yelp sure has to way to make me intrigued.
BEast is a real gem and the event was a win-win-win situation for sure. BEast got the promo and word-of-mouth they needed for the new place.... Yelpers got to know a new spot in town and enjoyed a great evening of nice VeeV cocktails (yep VeeV wins too) and intermittent but pretty good bar grub (actually, better than bar grub ;p) and Yelp got to nurture its Elites and their friends. Everybody wins!
If these are the standards for typical Yelp Happy Hours, I'd be sure to make pretty regular appearances for sure. Loved it that we could bring 4 guests... unfortunately 7pm on a weekday is just hard. I myself had to plan ahead to make it here and boy was I glad I did :)
My only quip is that my ass was decidedly NOT pinched by Oriana J. although it was lovely meeting her and the other yelpers all the same.
The constant flow of delicious cocktails and bites to eat were the sign of a well organized party.... Thank you David L. for the invite and thank you Yelp for the freebies.
I definitely want to return to B.East for dinner and drinks soon. The staff were all great!
As always a pleasure to get together with fellow yelpers some old friends some new such as Sara n. And azin and liz and pearl and some good friends jeff c. Billy c. And of course great to see jane and peter!!! Definitely bonded wtb molly c over what alchol is better and what to lazily down first!! The sliders were to die for ESP since my stomach was ready to eat itself alive!!!
Super friendly was the crowd as always!!! Looking fed to AMNH this Friday see yall there!!!
Had a really fabulous time last night at Broadway East last night!
The champagne cocktails were delicious and I loved all the hors d'oeuvres, especially the pancetta soup, the mini sliders, and the pumpkin risotto balls. YUMMY!
But, the most important part is that I really loved the space at Broadway East. I would totally come back on my own dime - it's on my list for where to throw a great birthday party.
I talked to one of the cocktail servers and she told me that it's a dinner place that turns into a lounge. I love places that are two in one. Food, alkie, and a little dancing? My kind of place. I can't wait to go back!!
Actually, Daniel, the soup was scallop and shrimp chowder and contained no meat. So the yolk's on you, non-meat person. Ya ya ya ya ya! I'm sorry you ran into the one unpleasant person there. I, luckily managed to avoid her. Then again, I always just throw my tips on the bar, so I never asked about that whatever for the tips.
It was a great time though and I know you practiced the sin of gluttony on those pumpkin risotto balls, as did we. Yum Yum.
Nice seeing you and your friends. Nice people.
BTW, we got our tickets to the play REASONS TO BE PRETTY for this Sunday. Chris at Jeffrey Richards Associates was exceptionally pleasant. Just thought Yelp should know that.
Hope to see another Yelp invite soon, Jane and those other Yelp guys are aces at putting together big events .
Yay Jane and Peter! You guys are my idols...another awesome event? Seriously?
This one was harder to pull off, considering the space restrictions, so kudos again. And much love to the Honest Tea folks...yum.
I love my acai bracelet (didn't so much care for the acai hangover), and was of course awesome to see all you awesome folks!
I beez dat dude in da Bape hat handing out all the Acai bracelets. Acai is a Brazilian superfruit loaded with antioxidants. I didn't taste a lick of it in the VeeV liquor though. I usually buy the Sambazon Acai pulp w/ guarana @ Whole Foods to make my smoothies. Ejumacate yodelf, SON!
P.S. My gal friends were bustin my balls about hats only matching with jeans, not with cufflinks and dress pants, but f that. You can learn how to dress just by jocking my fresh. Jocking jocking my fresh. Jocking jocking my fresh

..... another yelp event
another good time
another hangover
I arrived and didn't see my usual favs and felt apprehensive:
Where's Coo? Where's Eugene?
Joey.. anyone see Joey?
The great thing about Yelp events is that there are so many cool people. I quickly relaxed seeing Apples and before you know it I was in full party mode. Between chatting with Justin and Wendy, running into Tori and Ed and all the other yelpers I ran into wandering up and down B. East I had a great time.
I finally got to meet Rachel A (600 reviews and her 1st event, wow) and one of my favorite reviewers Liz C. Whoa is she tall. A great writer. And tall.
Seriously stop reading this and check out her reviews (and not just Babeland)
....... go already-- http://ooodalishis.yel.../
You still here? Okay I'll wrap it up then.
A usual complaint at yelp events is not enough food. I don't think that was a problem this time, I saw server after server going by with trays of delicious edibles.
Carrying a tray of food around hungry yelpers?
-- I felt they should've given a blindfold and a cigarette first.
I had eaten beforehand but what i had was really good.
I wasn't too fond of the complimentary drinks. I hate complaining about freebies, but the drinks did nothing for me.
The post event drinks were wonderful at............
sorry I misremembered. That never happened.
All in all a very good event and can't wait for the next one.
yup. another one of those reviews......
i hastily approached the dark and mysterious facade, taking care to greet the gentleman at the door with aloof indifference. i had only come to this neighborhood for one thing and one thing only.
i had to pee. bad. like molars hurting in the back of my mouth, not sure if i was going to make it to the bathroom. i apologize now to the congregants as i cut a swath through the front bar to the slidey-door bathroom. throwing my coat at the unfortunate girl behind the bar, i elbowed my way to my long awaited blissful moment.
that out of the way, i proceeded to drink. and drink. and socialize. and drink. and mingle. and drink. meeting liz c. i thought to myself should i or should i not. to molest or not to molest. well, liz, my apologies. maybe you were expecting more but a gentleman just doesn't do that sort of thing to such a beautiful woman. so instead i proceeded to ply you with multiple drinks. and sliders. yeah, those sliders were delish.
B.East was a fantastic venue. the downstairs was small and comfortable, in spite of the glares i received when doing my evita peron impression from the women down below. or maybe they thought i was doing the pope thing or musolini. either way, no one thought i was funny. except me. meh, story of my life.
the alcohol flowed copiously. many thanks to our good friends at what vodka? yes, that's why this is another one of those reviews. i am convinced that if you can remember too many details, you did not take advantage of the experience. i guess after my 5th or 6th or 7th vodka and soda i sort of neglected to take notes. or maybe it was that last shot of jaeger before heading (sic stumbling) to the afterparty at Pegu.
The place was fabulous, Jane and Peter are always fabulous, yelpers and fellow debauched already know they're fabulous. and thanks to the folks at reason to be pretty for the free tix. i am going next tuesday.
bless you all, everyone. oh, and if anyone found my bra in the bathroom, can you please give it back the next time you see me? thanks.
I only left my booth a few times, to go to the bathroom once, to grab about a dozen flutes of champagne and a dozen glasses of vodka, I didn't explore upstairs or downstairs, and I wasn't very social with strangers -- but somehow I managed to have an absolute blast at this event.
I never had to wait more than 60 seconds to get a drink from any of the extremely busy yet still very friendly bartenders... The rosé was delicious, and so were the açaí cocktails.
I can't believe how much food there was. It was great that there was variety. Of the available options I liked the mini-burgers and the fried pumpkin risotto balls best -- they were very tasty. I wasn't a fan of the warm "pancetta" "scallop" creme. The fried cod/potato ball on pumpernickel was decent, but I thought the bread seemed unnecessary. The late night pizza was delicious but I only had a small bite of it so I can't comment definitively... Round after round, the food kept coming, and the waiters were always, miraculously, affable... Also the bus boys, magically, never let an empty glass or plate sit for more than 10 seconds, it was kind of unbelievable -- and they never even tried to touch anything before it was completely finished, which was refreshing... Oh, I almost forgot, the truffle chips were really good (and after our table finished a huge bowl the waiter very generously brought another heaping bowl), but the parsley chips were amazing -- thankfully there wasn't a bowl of them on my table or I would've ate way too many of them.
I'm shy when it comes to meeting new people, but at this event I finally met a couple of other Yelpers... Thanks to my friend Karen's and Ryan's superior social skills I met Daniel and Jason and Oriana (who is totally awesome).
The Yelp staff were all extremely nice and helpful.
I really liked the space/place.
Thank you!
Oh god, so overwhelmed, This was my first Elite event, and it was crazy.
I did meet Liz C ( who is so supermodelly tall), Oriana (also tall) , Apples(tall) and Gia ( who is not tall, but awesomely pocket sized, Justin P, Peter D, which was totally cool (Sorry I didn't talk much, it was crazy in there.)
The signature cocktail was kinda wack, it contained entirely too much water/soda/ice and not enough alcohol, but the venue was awesome. Beautiful lounge/bar.
I loved that creamy soup that was being passed around.
The bartenders up front made it seem like downstairs was where to go when it got crowded, alas, it ended up being the most crowded place in the joint,
I got some BANGING Chamays beer, which is super delicious.
B.East is more expensive for my liking, or maybe it just wasn't a PDT or a Death and Co, where I would gladly spend 7+ dollars on a beverage.
That's OK though. I really appreciate Yelp for making this all possible, and now I cannot wait for more events.
Even my +1 loved it.
Yay for Yelp, for making me feel totally awkward, and completely at home.
