Before going to the event, a friend and I wondered what high school kids would think of this fabulous event.

"A bunch of old people are going to dress up and pretend like they're at prom?  What losers!"

Well, I ultimately lived up to that image by trying to bribe someone to be my friend's date AND by getting sick from too many libations.

    It was totally worth it.

We had so much fun getting our corsages, dressing up, and dancing to the super fun tunes the dj was spinning.  The event was well organized from the food and drinks to the photo ops.

    Thanks for another great event!

I got laid off a few hours before the event. It wasn't getting me down but it was definitely a trip. Thankfully, because I was coming to this, I left work in a fitted suit rather than a Threadless t-shirt with colorful graphics. If you're going to be let go, leave in style to an event with free booze.

Vodka on the rocks. I've no time to dilute life with sugary liquids tonight, kind bartender.

But for all the shock and awe, once we were under the Bay Bridge lights at night, time sort of froze and everything was brilliant and the world was good again...

    Thanks to Ligaya.

Seeing as I didn't attend my senior year of high school, I missed out on the opportunity to experience real prom.  So when Ligaya sent out an invitation for prom aboard the Hornblower (where, coincidentally, my real prom was held), I was totally down to go.  Dressing up, cheesy photos with Roman pillars and a 2D night scene backdrop, spiked punch, getting crunk?  With Yelpers?  On a muthafuckin' boat?  I'm so in!

Prom night ended up being everything that I had hoped it would be, and then some.  My handsome date, Bradley P, wore an 1800's outfit and we got matching corsages and boutonnieres.  The lovely Trina A and I discovered that we were inadvertent prom dress twins (aw haaale naw), but instead of having a cat fight, we took awesome prom pictures together.  We looked hawt!  Ruggy spun on the boat.  Yelpers got crunk.  Jenn and Steve N were crowned prom royalty (of course they would be!).  Then we capped off prom with a slow dance to Spandau Ballet and Journey.  And I didn't get roofied.

    It was perfect.

Well, it was *almost* the perfect night.  Until us prom folks crashed the DYL at 83 Proof as the after party.  My date quickly got hammered.  In the middle of the after party, I went across the street to Jack in the Box to satiate my munchies.  When I got back to the bar, I was informed that Bradley had left with Luke A and company to go to The Cinch.

In other words, my prom date had ditched me.  On prom night.  With a group of gay guys.  To go to a gay bar.  And here I was, thinking that we were gonna get married and have babies and be together forever and ever.  FML.

(It should be noted that despite all this, I forgive, and still *heart*, Bradley P.  Luke A, too!)

All these memorable moments would not have been possible without Ligaya and co, so thank you for organizing and hosting!  What a night.  I can't wait to frame my prom pictures.  And a special shout out to Keane L for running into my drunken and lost prom date on Market St and kindly walking him back to the bar.

I had a miserable prom.  First of all, my loser 21 year old boyfriend said he was "too old" to be my date.  Of course, after he saw the pictures of me in my dress, he wishes he had gone.  Jerk.   Secondly, my parents were in the middle of a divorce AND were chaperones at the prom.  The mood was a little tense, to say the least.  I was at home and in bed no later than 10 p.m. that night, wishing I had made better choices about men, although there was nothing I could do about my parents.

Although I still make very poor men choices, I had the best date EVER last night.  I was really on the fence about whether or not I was going, and then fell off the fence due to other reasons, but when Keane said he wanted to go AND would be my date, I felt like the luckiest girl on the planet and was glad I still fit into my circa 1994 blue sparkly dress (which was not only the dress for my first prom, but also my pageant dress).

Getting there at 5:30 was tough, but we managed to be fashionably late.  The Doubletree lounge area where we entered was beautiful, if a little overwhelmed by sun.  The noshes were amazing (hello, salami!), and despite it's weird color, I liked the cold pea soup in a shot glass.  The fruit tarts were also delicious.

    But wait, there's more!

We hop on a boat for a 2 hour tour (any longer and I would have been scared, but you had best remember I'm Ginger, bitches), under the twinkling lights of the sky and the bay bridge.  There was MORE food inside, cheese and crackers, and the booze was flowing (cash bar upstairs and complimentary downstairs...no matter), and Ruggy spun tunes that got my booty shaking and reminded me just how old I was.  I was sad that I didn't get prom queen, although it was an honor to be nominated and I knew I had no chance against Mrs. N.

I must apologize to my fabulous date for not being able to stay in one spot for very long, but the music really does move me.

I'd also like to say that Ligaya is one of the most amazing people on the planet, and we're really lucky to have her.

THANK YOU CANCELLATIONS!! I never see the event emails in time to RSVP for a spot. Always hours late, if not days. BooO!

Friday afternoon due to cancellations, I'm in! Got my +1. Mad dash over to Berkeley after work only to be stuck in traffic. Finally arrived when everyone was heading over to the boat. Ligaya piled on two plates of goodies for us to take aboard since we missed lounge time. What a sweetie!!

The cruise was a blast! Full moon and clear skies. Wish we could've partied longer!

    Highlights:
-appetizers: crab potato cakes, pork bites and split pea soup! delicious
-cheese plate: love cheese! Especially the soft garlic cheese
-open bar: dang that pink bubbly was strong!
-chocolate fountain: strawberries, pineapples, cantaloupes, ice cream puffs, oreos and more! I realized they didn't turn the fountain on because FOUNTAIN + BOAT + DRUNK YELPERS would've been disastrous.
    -DJ Ruggy: yay SF!!
-Yelpers: from their fabulous get up to breaking it down on the dance floor, to breaking glass on the dance floor. Gotta love them!

Thanks Ligaya and Yelp, for another fabulous night!

Yep. It's been said so many times before, but I'm gonna say it again: a kajillion times better than my prom! Like seriously. Here's why:

~ awesome DJ & music (Donn Stop Believinnn!)
~ BOOZE (yay for being able to legally drink at a prom) especially the Nuvo. What the heck? A sparkling liquor? So fruity = yum!
    ~ no drama...big plus!
~ pretty views of the bay under moonlight
~ great company...meeting new faces and catching up with familiar ones (Marsha W, Emily J, Jamie L, Catherine B, Meg T, Candace, Jenn N and plus ones!)
~crazy costumes...mad props to the dude who went all Mozart prom...rock me Amadeus!

Shout out to Ligaya and crew for pulling off probably the best YEE the East Bay has seen thus far! Can't wait to see what you guys have in store for us next!

Sidenote: This was officially my first date with my lovie. Yeah. I kept it on the d-low for quite some time because, I admit, I thought it was kinda weird to make a YEE a first date event. But it was everything I imagined it would be: romantic as we kissed under the moonlight on the deck with the site of the Bay Bridge in the distance, fun as I talked endlessly with love -- getting to know each other, and gosh darn it, we looked good! Okay, enough said.

I absolutely enjoyed seeing a lot of familiar faces again and I had a total blast at another well planned Yelp Elite event! The appetizers and and drinks were amazing as always! I would like to thank the Yelp staff for all the fun that I'm sure most if not all of us had!

I wasn't quite Prom King but Court was nice! Thanks to everyone that voted for me and thanks Bradley for the shoutout when I was on stage. I have no clue what you said but I'm sure it was a great speech!

Shoutout to all of my Yelp friends that I saw and the ones that couldn't make it! You all are awesome!

    The thank you's
Ligaya you even planned it during a full moon. Who does that.

    The greeting
Warm and friendly, even got a hug from Ligaya.

    The food
Lovely finger foods , to numerous to mention
Sweets for our sweet tooth. Most memorable, chocolate mousse in a champagne glass.

    The libations, plentiful

The music, lively and fun. But never over powering.

The guests, Mostly in Prom Dresses and suits, ready to party. But never out of control.
    We have very classy Yelper's.

The Yacht, Big, double Decker. Warm, great staff. Perfect evening, never to cold.
Food and drink on both Decks.
Great munchies, and A Chocolate Fondue. Yes there was a Chocolate Fountain. I've never see one. It *IS* all it's cracked up to be.

    My +1 ,
The beautiful J. K. Thank you for joining me on the spur of the moment. I enjoyed your company, and hope to, for many years to come.

The staff at the Doubletree and on the Hornblower are to be commended. They did a fabulous job.

The photographer,  Now has the evidence.

Again, Thank You , Ligaya and all who were involved. you always treat us to fun times.

They danced on a boat, on a beautiful boat we danced...

From the entryway of the hotel foyer, a muddled noise of laughter and glass clinging could be heard. No need to ask for directions, just follow the sound of happiness. As I walked toward the music filled room, the temperature fluxed from mild to warm, warm to hot. It would appear that the streaking rays of light penetrating the veil of glass were the source of summers linger, drifting into autumn. Yet, the manifold beauty of lords and ladies encompassing my vision could also be culpable as the source of heat.

She wore a dress, sultry in her frame, exotic when she danced enhanced by melodic induced speech. A smile more resplendent then the spoon maker's diamond, a touch more comforting then fresh linen from a Shepard lay maker.

He wore a suit that conformed to his features. A walk with confidence was all that was needed for inner celebrity to shine.

We stood at the edge of a boat, danced under sister bridges, and sung familiar songs while manifesting a cacophony of jubilant noise unlike anything the sea life below had ever heard.

Chocolate covered kisses were fruity delicious, we preferred 80's music with our margaritas.

The hornblower blew a sweet tune for our delight, an unforgettable melody fashioned in memory, savored in adulation. We shunt forget our prom, are day of work and wonder, splendor manifested from head to toe.

Cameras and flash exploding in a wave of literal motion as we encircled the water under the new lit moon.
If we could, I suspect we would have caroused until midnight; float with no turns...sail with no exit.

Before that night I'd never been to a prom, I now understand its meaning. With gracious host like Double Tree, Hornblower, Yelp and most importantly a delightful lady named Ligaya, one would be hard press to craft a more fitting evening.

They danced on a boat, on a beautiful boat we danced.

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
A tale of a fateful trip
That started from this Berkeley Marina.
    Aboard this two story ship.

The mate was a mighty sailing DJ man,
The skipper brave and sure and HOT.
Many passengers set sail that day
For a one and a half hour tour, a one and a half hour tour.

    The weather started getting cool,
The tiny ship went through the Bay Bridge,
If not for the courage of the fearless Hornblower crew
The minnow would be lost, the minnow would be lost.

    With Gilligan (Ruggy)
    The Skipper too (Ligaya),
The millionaire and his wife (Cara Y and company),
The movie star (Kabir from Boston),
The professor and Mary Ann (Jenn and Steve),

    Here on Gilligan's Isle!

Pretty evening in dresses and suits!
Ran into many SBCers! yay! :D
Once the sun set, we were cruising on the bay!
Mmmm Fondue Fountain (as Vicky said it in her head)! :)

Doubletree: Interesting mini bites with the blended pea soups and clear tomato soup, salami, and other finger foods! My plate consisted of 4 fruit custard tarts, puff pastry sandwich, and a few slices of salami! hehe :D

Hornblower: 2nd floor is where the party was at... cause there was a fondue fountain. Yeah, I don't eat chocolate (I'm allergic =\), but I like the fruits and desserts sans chocolate! :) Oh and the cheese platter and crackers! I loved the havarti dill cheese (which you can get at Trader Joe's)! My plate consisted of cream puffs, marshmallows, pineapples, strawberries, cantaloupe, honey dew and cheese & crackers!! Small world! Candice was sitting at our table! :D

I wish I had more time to making a duct tape dress and corsage for this event!!! My former prom date from high school, Brandon A., almost came to the event with me!!! How cool would've that been?! Hope we can do another prom theme down in the South Bay!! :) BIG thank you Ligaya, Yelp, Doubletree, and Hornblower for a wonderful evening!!!

Hellos to: Hazel G. (yay for getting in!), Serbelle, James G, Kathy D., Candice, Huey and Prom-enthusiasts!!

    YEE #20 for 2009 :)

Another awesome and stupendously successful event, so can I just skip all the requisite details about the great appetizers, how fabulous everyone looked, how Ligaya was a vision in purple sequins, how the bar took such great care of everyone, how the music rocked, and how the Hornblower yacht was almost taken down by all the enthusiastically-ass-shaking yelpers and ask this question...?

...how in the sweet hell does a town that doesn't allow dancing breed so many professional dancers??!

Yet another big win for Ligaya and her crew of able assistants. The Doubletree's lounge was a great venue for a party and looks like a good spot for a nice dinner sometime. I was really impressed with the breadth, quantity, and quality of the food - this may be the first Elite event I've EVER attended that didn't run out of complimentary food! There was some confusion around the raffle, so many people (myself included) didn't get tickets, but otherwise it was a blast. Connie was a great photographer, both during the mingling and at the classic prom backdrop.

Adjourning to the cruise, we seemed to lose a bunch of people, including most of the older (40+) Yelpers who'd been at cocktail hour. DJ Ruggy did a great job spinning classic hits from high school, and I must say I was quite impressed with his skills at transitioning one song to the next seamlessly. The boat crew were great and the bartenders were quick and accommodating, even late in the evening when it was clear they were getting drained. 'Twas a gorgeous night for a cruise, and the opportunity to go under the Bay Bridge was cool.

Even more than usual, the Yelpers were dressed to impress, with some beautiful dresses and sharp suits. Kudos to the Prom King and Queen, Jenn and Steve N.! It was a great night to see and be seen, and it seemed like nearly everyone had an awesome time. We even had the requisite end-of-prom "last song" followed by the lights flipping on and somebody telling us to go home!

    Love, exciting and new
    Come Aboard. We're expecting you.
    Love, life's sweetest reward.
Let it flow, it floats back to you.

    Love won't hurt anymore
It's an open smile on a friendly shore.
    Yes LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE! It's LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE! (hey-ah!)

Like the never ending circle of the chocolate fountain, let it flow.

As if the reception (food, drinks, pictures, a raffle) at the beautiful Double Tree on the Berkeley marina wasn't enough, we were then boarded onto an amazing ship with 2 bars, a dance floor, tons of seating and decks to soak in the beauty of the bay.

Ruggy...RUGGY!  He was our DJ and he killed it.  He somehow knew how to keep a crowd ranging from their 20s - 50s out on the dance floor every minute we were at sea.   I kept hearing squeals of delight as the first few bars of the next song erupted from the speakers.
Then as we made our way back into port, I heard Ligaya saying something into the microphone and heard her start calling out a few names..

I realized she was calling up those that had been nominated for prom King & Queen.  I thought they were done and was excited to hear who had won out of those standing up on the stage and then heard "Mr. & Mrs. N".  Whoa, we had been nominated! At that point, I had no idea where Mr. N was. I started to make my way to the stage, heard Joshua yell out, "I love you!" and planted myself next in the line. Suddenly a tiara was being placed on my head and a sash wrapped around my breasts.

We had won??  Bahaha, we kept asking each other.."We won?"  I still don't think it really sank in until we were on our way home.

I won't dive into the whole "we were never nominated for anything" sob story from my and Mr. N's separate but fairly similar high school experiences.

I will just say that if our fun, awesome and beautiful group of Yelp friends sees us fit to carry the Yelp crowns - we will do it with pride. We will do our best to serve as great ambassadors to the Yelp family.

*gives a pageant wave while trying to hold back tears of joy through my Vaseline laden smile*

Thank you Ligaya & Yelp.  Again. This was 20 times more fun than any of the proms I went to in high school.

I have frankly been struck dumb (well... dumber) by how fun and well planned these Yelp Elite Events have been, and how friendly and sweet Yelpers are.

This "Off Like A Prom Dress" party has been the best so far.  I didn't go to my own prom, so my date and I took the ironic route--I found a lovely stone gray polyester suit, she wore a fuschia taffeta thing (and combat boots! that girl is off the hook), but we weren't the dippiest looking, damn the luck.

I honestly had no idea the Doubletree even existed--it's not exactly on the main drag.  Certainly the bar was very nice with a gorgeous view of the Bay--expensive like a hotel bar (Maker's double on the rocks--$18.00), but nicely poured.  Nonetheless, I'm very glad that the nice people from American Ice vodka and uh... whomever it was pouring gin and the nice wine people.  Dammit, I thought I'd remember that stuff.  And big UPS to American Ice for hooking me up with the tank top and the thongs!  I didn't get a chance to examine the rooms, but the conference room where the pictures were being taken was actually kinda nice, not like most conference rooms.

Oh!  The girl doing tarot readings was awesome--I'll be damned if she wasn't prescient as a motherfucker.  It was a pretty positive reading, but still kind of depressing...  Well, she was honest and maybe I'm just too negative.

Uh, anyway, the yacht was great.  I'm terrified of dancing, but it was awesome that everyone else was so into it.  We spent a little time out on the deck, and I really wish we'd gotten out there sooner because it was FANTASTIC.  I haven't been out on the Bay in years, and being on the yacht was... well, it was really special.

A big thank you to Melissa B for putting the B in belligerent!  It was great hanging out.  Marsha, Kenny, Bill, Angelo, Chum, Chao, Betty, Lisa, and those I forgot, thanks to you, too.  These events are great, but let's be real--it's the people that make it work.

But it can't happen without Ligaya.  I already fucking LOVE Oakland and the East Bay, but knowing that we've got someone like Ligaya representing our part of the Yelp community makes me proud as a motherfucker, and she really takes care of us.  Thank you very much.

Yelp really is a the best Web 2.0 application--why?  Because it really creates community.  I've met real human beings, I've made friends with them, and I haven't gotten shit out of Facebook or Myspace or Twitter--they're all bunk, and Yelp is where it's at.  Martin W--out.

I have had "Rock the Boat" stuck in my head since 5:30 last night.  No, it wasn't played at the event and yes, I usually have my own musical soundtrack playing in my head.

This event had many things that I enjoy a great deal, including:
    - fabulous, friendly people (i.e. yelpers and friends)
    - dressing up
    - cheese
    - delicious drinks
    - music
    - a new experience (Hornblower Yacht tour around the bay)
    - and last, but certainly not least, my honey, Jac C.

The event was wonderful all around.

I know I said Cafe was the best event ever.

    But I lied.

Doubletree complete with Hornblower cruise is now at the top of my list ;)

Strolling inside I nabbed up several of the vodka martini's the handy bartender was shaking and loved... that's right... LOVED em.

There was also tons of yummy food. I was surprised they never ran out... props to Doubletree. I was all over the little burger sandwiches and the coco mousse (complete with vanilla straw... aww). Honorable mention also goes to the raspberry tarts. They were delish.

The boat the Doubletree had for us was gorgeous and complete with dance floor. I dumped my stuff, got myself a Numo from the friendly bartender and grabbed Bill B for a dance.

I must say however, that the highlight of the evening was going under the Bay Bridge in the moonlight. It was breathtaking and truly memorable.

Thanks to everyone who danced with me, Anne K, Bill B, Kenny L, Amy R, and Steve N who with the lovely Jenn N won for king and queen. Totally deserved!

A big thank you to Ligaya, her awesome dress and Yelp for another fantabulously-rockin event!

Although we didn't get to go to the Melting Pot (a South Florida tradition when I was growing up) in a limo before the prom, this ones getting 5 stars all the way.

The festivities started at the Doubletree Hotel at the Berkeley Marina where Yelpers dressed to the 9s in fashions from the 1890s to the 1980s to the 2000s were roaming the ballroom having their picture taken, eating amazing chocolate treats and enjoying adult beverages as we looked out on to the Bay and our awaiting boat, the Hornblower.

The Hornblower is a beautiful ship that is a party on the water. The bar with it's liberal pours kept us guessing if the boat was rockin' or if it was our imagination while the music from the DJ kept the dance floor packed!

Hats off to Ligaya and the crew for a great time. When's homecoming?

So after reading the bulletins, I seriously thought everyone would wear a big, poofy, 80s dress.  Boy was I wrong!  Not gonna lie, I hid in the car, waiting to see someone dressed up [irregular] walk by, but no luck!  Oh well!  I rocked that big, poofy, 80s dress my date got me and I had an amazing time doing it!

Endless amounts of alcohol (props to the bartender for recommending the Nuvo margarita), chocolate fondue (too bad the fountain wasn't running), and the cheese table strategically placed where the bar line was!

I had three amazing dates, Wilson C, Nick B, and Danny R, and met tons of amazing new friends.  Can't wait until the next YEE!  yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

*Edited because Joshua L. threatened to never dance with me again.

I got kicked out of school like the good Catholic student I was and never went to my own prom. I was pretty excited to hear about Yelp prom and relive my youth.

Starting off at the Doubletree I was thrilled the venue was spacious and offered up copious amounts of food. The sun was annoying but overall a great pre-boat spot. We watched the raffle but didn't get any tickets of our own when we arrived for some reason :(

I was happy to snag a few comp glasses of wine before heading onto the Hornblower and throw down several appetizers. And only one person spilled a drink on me - a new record! I brought Angelo F. from SF who was dressed to the nine's and even bought me a corsage. Much to the delight of a few unnamed yelpers it would not stay on, but at least 3 people copped a feel while trying to pin it on me. Ahhhh, just like high school.

Unlike high school I no longer get wasted and pass out on the floor, but I do still shake my ass on anyone in my immediate proximity. Thankfully I had plenty of sexy gay men to grind on. I am disappointed Joshua L. wore pants instead of his hot shorts but I'll survive. I guess. There were also several lovely ladies willing to shake their boobs on me and slap my ass. Yeah. This was way better than high school prom ever could have been and DJ Ruggy certainly played better music.

I snuck outside several times to enjoy the view and watch the water. I have not been able to sail for a year because of my gimp foot and I was grateful to have the chance to at least go out on the Hornblower for one night. Being out on the water always makes everything in my life so much better.

Huge props to Ligaya and her crew for running things so smoothly. It was great to meet so many new people and hang with some awesome friends. I really can't top anything that has not been stated already - thanks Yelp!

peace, love, and good booze ~ chase

My date, Ryan C. (who is my husband. woo! happy 2 months!) told me a week ago about this event and to dress up for an 80's prom. 80's?!!  PROM!?? Oh gads! I was a wreck for a few days prior because I had absolutely NOTHING TO WEAR and dreaded TEASING my hair. Fashion during that era was HIDEOUS. Dear God I hope it never comes back. Say NO to shoulder pads!  Luckily, my coworker had a simple dress for me to borrow (her fav dress!) and I felt like a 80's belle at the party. Didn't end up teasing the hair cause it causes hair damage.....

ANYWAY, this party brought out all the insecurities and awkwardness I felt as a 17-year old even though it was 10 years ago... man i feel old!! I totally had the insecurity issues such as not wanting to talk or meet anyone.. JUST LIKE IN HS!

The appetizer/desserts at the hotel was delish or maybe because I didn't have dinner yet! Mini hamburger-esque appetizers and fruit tarts and chocolate cake.. YUM!. Wasn't particularly fond of the split-pea soup... shooter style. Mushy peas are not my thang.  I think there was a palm reader there?? It would be interesting to ask her if I would meet the man of my dreams ;)

So there I was happily enjoying all the desserts and lo and behold there was an announcement for the cruise..... CRUISE!??! My hubby intentionally failed to mentioned to me about the cruise!!! Wowzers, I thought it was just a regular ol' prom at the hotel!!

OH HECK YEAH!! The moment I saw the interior of the Hornblower, I immediately thought "BOOZE CRUISE!" from The Office Episode....  except instead of annoying boss Michael Scott, we had the lovely Ligaya! Loved LOVED her dress!

Going under the bridge was amazing! I've been way under (BART) and on the bridge (Transbay) but not right under! twas a gorgeous night...

SO there was a bit of dancing, a bit of munching, and tons of awkwardness... but that's what prom is all about! I'm glad I got to relive it with my husband!  .............. 5 STARS!!! Don't STOP... BELIEEEVIN'!

To tell you the truth, I think i had ten times more fun at the Yelp Prom then my own prom... :D ( No lies.. all truths )

Drama-Free.. Everyone decked out in their own style and dresses.. No judgments.. Plenty of Food.. Plenty of Drinks ( where back in high school we were not of age.. )  Yelpers Getting to know each other.. makes a great combination of an OUTSTANDING and MEMORABLE prom!  This event also made me reminisce of my college boat dance!

Thanks Ligaya for everything! I have to admit.. you throw the most unique events ever!  Everyone always gets to go out of their comfort zone when it comes to your events!

I definitely felt the swaying of the boat this time though with some alcohol consumption in me... oyeeeeee.. ( but i do not get sea sick usually. )  I loved the 3 story boat cruise that we were able to explore.. The atmospheres were different every floor.  You had your dancers at the bottom and talkers up top!  I loved the variety of cheese and crackers provided and especially the chocolate fondue fountain upstairs...yummmm!!

So glad i got to spend more time with Jeanne S. and Huey K and my +1.. we definitely enjoyed ourselves with picture whoring prom style!  Always surprised to see my fellow SBC'ers, knowing that we were all on waitlist!

Hope everyone had a blast!! Especially those guys trying to take a peek at those gals walking down the stairs with the windy bay air blowing on their skirts and dresses!!!  ha!

I'M ON A BOAT! EVERYBODY LOOK AT ME CUS I'M SAILING ON A BOAT!

I loved this event! I got to meet so many cool people and finally met Ligaya! Girl was all up in a purple sequined one shoulder ruffled outfit. Can you say 80s?! And ruffles?! AND SEQUINS?! Me loves it.

Food was really great at the Double Tree Hotel. My favorites were the grilled shrimp, pastries and those split pea soup shots!

EMPRESS HORNBLOWER was an experience by itself. Great people, great music, and great dessert treats for everyone!

Can't wait to see everyone at the next event!

Yelp, you spoil me. I can't say it enough. What a fun night of fabulousity!
I had as much fun perusing vintage and thrift stores for dresses as I did wearing the final pick and getting all done up on the night of the event. Everyone was lovely and beautiful. The food and drinks were delicious. The DJ played music that made us move our bodies and shake our booties. I'm still in awe that Yelp is so awesome! Thanks for a fantastic night, Ligaya and crew. How fun your jobs must be!

Yelp East Bay took us back to high school with "Yelp Prom", a wonderful sunset boat cruise (Thanks to Hornblower! What a great staff!) around the Bay tonight. We even went under the BAY Bridge! (how come nobody caught my mistake the first time lol)

I really felt like I was in high school again, with a pimple growing the DAY of the big event, trying to find a date, and getting ready while listening to the Backstreet Boys. My date and I even had to get a ride with our friend because we don't have cars.

The night started off with some delicious appetizers and sweets (and clear tomato juice? I actually thought it was pretty good) at the beautiful Doubletree Hotel. Btw, Doubletree makes the BEST chocolate chip cookies you've ever had...I had them for the first time in Washington, DC and it changed my view on cookies forever...ok maybe that's a bit too dramatic.

We boarded the doubledecker Hornblower yacht around sunset, and enjoyed a beautiful view the entire ride. The night wasn't complete without some dancing to some old school music and of course, the Prom Court! Congrats to the Prom King & Queen! :) I tried voting for Ligaya T. but I guess it's against the rules for her to get Prom Queen or something. :P

Thanks again to Ligaya T. & co. for yet another great event, Connie C. for all the awesome photography, and to the hosts and sponsors! Everything was perfect as prom should be! Shoutout to my Yelp buddies, new and old! Alright I've lost my voice.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Yelp Team!

I never went to prom. Yet, as a 20+ year old going to a replica prom with alcohol, well that is a different story.

Got to the Doubletree and liked the entire set-up of the bar for the Yelpers. It was blazing hot in the room because it faces the marina, but it was well worth it all. I loved all of the finger foods, especially the prosciutto. Me and my +1 enjoyed the martinis. I was absolutely in love with the wine from Bear Flag. Blends of wine into one red and one wine...it was divine!

Then it was off to the Hornblower. All the yummy cheese and crackers I could eat (haha). I stayed away from the chocolate foundue. As I told my table mates (Trina A. & J; Grace L. & A; and Josh B. & M) me and chocolate are freinemies. Once I eat chocolate, nonetheless liquid chocolate it is all over. I give props to the bartenders for the yummy Pink Nuvo.

Its a shame I didn't take advantage of the dancing and the crowning of the Prom King and Queen (Congratulations!!). It was a short but sweet trip to the Bay Bridge and back. With good company, food, and drinks ... it makes it all the reason why I am a Yelper.

Way better than any prom I've attended "back in the day".

My first Yelp Elite event and had an outrageously good time.

Was most impressed with the staff at the Doubletree. They kept the food and drink coming with a smile. The finger food was tasty, but I really need that bartender to come home with me to make those yummy martini concoctions.

Once on the Hornblower we casted off all inhibitions (but the dress stayed on) and danced like we were back in high school once again.

Thanks to Ligaya and staff for showing us a good time on the bay.

Come along and ride on a fantastic voyage!!!

First off, thank you Ligaya!  This was an amazing event.  Connie and Jessica also attending to keep this one running smooth. Always fantastic CM's helping each other for these events.  Then there's the fabulous Ruggy!  DJ Ruggy this time spinning some of the most fun prom jams eva!  To the whole Yelp crew, thank you for all you do.

This was 2 events in one.  The Bay at Double Tree was a perfect start.  We all got a few snaps from Connie, found da punches, vodkas, vinos, and tasty treats.  The mousse was all I really cared about.  Love that!  Despite the blinding sun, the kick off was great.  The vendors and Double Tree staff were good to us.

    Hello Fun Boat.....
Part Deux was on the MrFn BOAT!  Never been on Hornblower. Always wanted too. Ligaya made it happen. W00t!  Mellow at first, Ruggy spins it, Meg and Bill hit the floor to warm things up.  Things never stopped rockin' after that.  Other than the food and drink lines, it was dancing, out to the deck for cooling and view of the Bay, then back in to dance.  Prom songs were bumpin.  Songs Trey and Crystal know seem to be the most popular.  Who would've guessed??

And yes, Mrs N and I somehow became king and queen of this particular prom-like event.  Not sure how or why, but thanks for picking us!  We love you guys too!

I arrived fashionably late for the Yelp Elite Prom, wearing a short, tight blue dress and high heels. I hugged Ligaya and made a bee line for the spiked punch. Either I grabbed the soft punch or my adrenaline levels were too high for the spike to register because I felt nothing. I entered the main party room, grabbed a real drink (OK, just wine!) and starting chowing down on the catered food. I had a difficult time enjoying this food and drink because my "plus 1" kept messaging me with news of her estimated arrival time. My friend Jessica eventually made it to the Doubletree just in time to board the Hornblower before we set sail.

Navigating the Hornblower in high heels proved tedious, especially once I added glasses of alcohol and napkins full of cheese to the mix. One of my shoes fell off as I walked up the stairs, inspiring instant humiliation--almost like junior high! I eventually collected myself and scored a table upstairs with my friend Jessica. We enjoyed people watching and people meeting. Like high school, the cruise seemed separated into popular and less popular cliques. My friend Jessica and I were sadly less popular, attracting the people who also wanted to sit in the corner too. More alcohol and more cheese helped soothe that. Unfortunately, the Hornblower food and drink paled in comparison to the food and drink at Doubletree. It saddens me how much food we left behind. I pray someone donated it or did anything other than toss it away.

I had a nice time overall, despite not being known by many of my fellow Yelp Elite. I booked a room at Doubletree at the discounted rate, thinking many other Yelp Elite would do the same. I expected Animal House, with everyone running through the hotel in half slips and boxers. Most everyone went to "after party" in the city instead. My friend Jessica and I spontaneously followed suit, getting a ride with random Yelp Elite with names I cannot remember (Add me on Yelp if you are reading this and you remember me and want to connect!).  I would have skipped booking the room had I been better prepared or more informed of plans. I enjoyed my hotel room for the most part. See the review I made of Doubletree.

    Dear Ligaya and Yelp crew,

How do you manage to consistently organize such awesome events?

Delish food [the crab canapes and truffles and chilled pea soup] and drinks to start off with at the Doubletree. Prom photos and spiked punch before we boarded. The giant hornblower yacht with the kickass staff, DJ and chocolate fountain and more libations. Dancing to the best of the 80s and 90s. Beautiful moonlit night cruise around the bay. And my first time underneath the new Bay Bridge span!

I still feel a little swaying and I'm still glowing.

Booze, a moment of creepiness that makes for a good story, prom photos, then the boat, fondue, cheese, and...

"I can fill ya wit real millionaire ish
    AAAAAHHHHH!!!!!
escargot, my car go, one sixty, swiftly
    AAAAAHHHHH!!!!!
wreck it buy a new one
your crew run run run, your crew run AAAAAHHHHH!!!!!"

Ruggy was playing awesome tunes that everyone sang along to on a really fun, and literally ROCKIN (hence the AAAAAHHHHH!!!!! in between lyrics, so glad I took my 4 inch heels off, damn!) boat.

Great times as usual. Thanks Ligaya and thanks Yelp!

Another fantastic event brought together by the Yelp team!

Had a blast getting all gussied up for an evening of sweets, drinks, and dancing.

The cruise definitely made the night, as there is no better place to go out and get fresh air when you're sailing under the Bay Bridge.

Thanks everyone, I had more fun here than I did at the proms in high school!

This was a night to remember. Thank you to Ligaya and the Yelp team for the invitation and coordinating this spectacular event. The evening kicked off at the Doubletree Bay Grille and Lounge with a fabulous DJ, picture taking experience, delectable and dainty appetizers, and incredible Finlandia martinis and Bear Flag red/white wine. Everybody had a wonderful time mingling and taking in the views of the Berkeley Marina. The associates working at Bay Grille and Lounge were delightful.

How about the Hornblower? I've never seen a party lift-off so quickly. It started the moment we set sail and left the harbor. With dance floors and bars on both levels, great music, and fun loving guests, everybody had a great time. While all these things were great, the food had to of been another highlight to remember. The chocolate fondue was exquisite, the fruit flavorful, and the cheese and crackers the perfect balance to the beverages served at the bar. The Hornblower staff were really helpful and considerate, as well. There were a few spills and other requests where the Hornblower staff were immediately on the spot - seemingly appearing from out of nowhere to help guests.

    What an incredible evening!

My first Yelp social as an elite... nicely done. Props on the cruise, gorgeous evening. Tasty Blue Ice Vodka margaritas, yummy muscat, blueberry tarts were delicious. Did anyone else do a double take on the tomato juice shots? creative, but deceiving...
Some great costumes. Love the 80's dresses. I wish Yelp wasn't all segregated into East bay, South bay, SF, etc. Can't we all just party together? Still had a great time. The cute gay guys... you're such a tease. After party in Berkeley made us reminisce. ;) oh Cal!

    ON A BOAT!

East Bay Yelp Elites know how to blow up and GET DOWN.

Pretty snazzy bubbling liqueur in champagne flutes and drinks all around. I could drink that chocolate fountain. I DRINK IT UP.

Cheers to Hornblower, Doubletree, and Ligaya! Really, these events are just getting better and better!

Don't tell, but I took advantage of the cheese while everyone was dancing....

It took me a week to write my review because it took me a week to recuperate from this event! Ligaya, girlie you did it again. This event was so well organized and the location was great. Started out in the Doubletree lounge and nibbled on yummy appetizers, the crab stuffed squash blossoms were my fave. The wine was great as well. After mixing and mingling at the Doubletree we were off to the Hornblower for more drank.

The Hornblower staff was so gracious and accommodating. It was a perfect evening for a sunset cruise, the weather was calm, the skies were clear, and the flowing NUVO was deliciously intoxicating!

WOW! Yelp Prom!? Can it get ANY Better?! This event was awesome!! Thanks Ligaya, the rest of the EB team, and doubletree and Hornblower for giving me the opportunity to relive my youth and have another Prom!

Started the night off right, pre-partying at the Double Tree, sipping on Martini's, Wine, and Spiked Punch and nibbling on yummy bites like pea soup, lobster crackers, tempura crab, delicious tartes, and other yummy desserts. I totally loved the prom pic backdrop too!

The hornblower was super fun. Loved the chese and crackers, and fondue fountain-even though it was more of a fondue pond. Oh! Totally loved the Jamie Foxx drink aka Nuvo! Hornblower crew were very friendly. I was feeling a bit sick and a dude (John P, I believe) waited with me outside for a bit until I felt better. And boy did I feel better, or just super cold from the crisp bay air. He even found me later that night to check on me to see how I was doing!

Cruising around the bay, eating, drinking, and dancing with awesome people, what else could a gal ask for?!

Cinco Estrellas, Gracias Ligaya y Yelp East Bay Team!
