My parents dragged me to this restaurant and I have to admit I was a little turned off by the staff upon entering. With the waitress barking orders at the customers as they entered to split the dinner party in half: some to the 'table' wait line and the rest to the 'dinner' or self-serve, cafeteria style line...It can be a little confusing and intimidating. Everyone takes a dinner tray, gets a drink - soda and juice only, and some condiments - tartar sauce, ketchup, cole slaw, etc. and then selects from a limited food menu, basically fish n' chips, fries, chowder, and the like, and then pays and then you wait for a table - all very high school cafeteria style. Very laid back and casual.
However, the food is delicious! I have been craving some good fish n' chips and clam chowder for a while now. After tasting their fish n' chips and chowder, I am sold! The food they serve is generous in portion size, leaving you with a full feeling. This restaurant is far from fancy, but has great flavor. It is a great place to go with family and friends and is totally casual. No fuss. They really have the best fish n' chips in Rhode Island and I will definitely be going back. Glad I found this hidden gem.
BTW- For three people, we all ate for $38.56 food and drinks included. So good!
Fresh fish, a batter you cannot believe and the best fries I have ever tasted are the key to this olde school restaurant.
Come with an appetite and forgot about your last cholesterol screening - this place doesn't use vegetable oil, crisco or anything like that. They use real fat - maybe even lard.
Obviously not everyday eating - but how else can you treat yourself to a great meal for under $10
