Comedy of Errors? No.More like comedy of failures.

1.Worst penne a la vodka ever, over saturated with salt.

2.The chicken parm, with the low quality tomato paste, nasty, the chicken was so deep fried and dry, it felt as if I was biting on a 20 grit piece of sandpaper, nastea.

3.The beer, water down.Stella tasted like the Bronx River, murky nasty.

But they do have super friendly waitresses, so that's a pro.

The next time am desperately looking for a place to eat and drink near Yankee Stadium, amma stick to the local bodegas/latin restaurants and eat food worth eating. This place probably makes a banging chicken wing, everything else is a do or die if you ask me. This is nothing but a Yankee fan trap!

When going to a baseball game when out of town, you have to go to a local [insert local sports team] bar when you go to the game. Our last trip allowed us the opportunity to stop by the Yankee Tavern.

There's everything you would expect on the walls: old pictures of the stadium, former players' signed jersey's, ticket stubs and other memorabilia; all Yankee-related.

The booze was affordable, they had a good selection of local beer on tap and the service was good. Apparently they had a kitchen in back, but we had just stuffed ourselves in the ballpark.

I want to say more about this place, but that's pretty much it. A solid, local Yankee bar right down the way from the ballpark. I'd give it 3.5 stars, but sadly I cannot. Good times.

The Yankee Tavern is my favorite place to go before a Yankees Game...and occasionally after the game.

My friends and I meet up here before the game and get a solid buzz on before heading into the stadium. Drinks are super cheap and they have a good beer selection, unlike other bars in the area. Ive never had the food, but it always looks good.

The staff is friendly, and promo shot girls occasionally come in and give you free shots. The interior is full of Yankees memorabilia. It doesn't try to be swanky, it sticks to sports and being a bar.

This bar is where the hardcore Yankees fans hang out. I would not suggest entering if you have on another teams apparel... if the bouncer even lets you in. If you come here to watch a game on tv, it turns into sort of a Yankees Club house. I love it!

We stopped in before the game Saturday for a few beers and food. Fairly typical Yankees stadium bar with big screen TVs showing the pregame show and Yankees memorabilia on the wall. One thing that I would say sets it apart from others is the large selection of beers of draught. A few that I remember were Amstel Lite, Goose Island, Hoegaarden, Guinness, and Shock Top while other bars in the area to stick to the standard, Bud, Bud Lite, and Miller Lite. As with everything in this area and at Yankees Stadium don't expect to get off cheap when it comes to price. I got the first round which was 4 beers and it came to $30. I was even a little surprised at it being that high.

Surprisingly the food at Yankees Tavern was pretty good and very cheap. They have a section of the menu which is all $4.95. I got the cheese burger sliders with french fries which were very good and came out quickly. Bartenders were pretty cool and handled the crowd well. Waited maybe a minute tops for a beer. If your looking for a place to stop in for a beer before the game Yankees Tavern is worth your time.

Yankee Tavern is my favorite place to grab a beer and burger before a game. Great curly fries and a blue cheese burger freshly made.

Reasonble prices and iced cold beer. What could be better?

I'm giving this 5 stars because.
1 Bonus star for free wireless. (Like my goofy but loveable brother in law says....Dems da rules)

Ok. with that said.  Yankee tavern is only a shadow of what it use to be in the mid 90's, but you know what?
The prices are so good, and the menu so diverse, that it's always a great deal. (stick with sandwiches, soups, wings and wraps, or platers like roast beef).   Stay away from seafood.

Drinks are good.  Bartenders are regular, and recognizable if you come here often enough.

Don't come on Red Sox days, or any other World series type game.

Come early, and come with a couple of people and worm your way to the bar.  They'll actually notice you, and take care of you.

They have a big back room that can acomodate family's or small groups of 4 to 6.  The food comes out quick back there too, but if you can, opt for the bar, and get out of dodge before the national anthem.

This place gets crowded, so be ready to deal with it, if you get there late.

On my most recent trip to NY this was the first bar that I went to because we went to check out the new Yankee Stadium and this bar is right across the street. I loved it! The beer was nice and cold and the bartender was really friendly. We got into talking about sports with him and some of the other patrons sitting at the bar. It felt like I knew them from a small town or something. I will definitely be going there again once I move to NY and I leave a Yankees game :)

I used to love The Yankee Tavern.  I've been going there for years.  Today we were charged $7 for a Miler Lite bottle.  Never again.  Never again will I go there.  Vega Alta across the street gets my money from now on.

The restaurant is separate from the skinny and long bar.  Not as high energy as Stan's but still a fun place and another classic bar outside Yankee Stadium.

The pastrami sandwich on rye with provolone was very good, especially with cold beer, and the cheese fries (albeit with that goopy yellow melted cheese) were delicious.  That could be the drunk in me talking, but everyone was eating them, and I liked 'em, too.

Another classic pit stop before or after a game at Yankee Stadium (new or old).

    THANKS YELP!
My friend got last minute tickets to the Yankee game this afternoon... I work in the Bronx about 10 minutes from Yankee stadium. I knew that I would be standing around in the Bronx ticketless for about an hour, so I looked around on Yelp to see what there is to do in the ever so charming area surrounding the stadium.
Thank GOD for Yankee Tavern. It was crowded inside with fans, but not crowded enough that I couldn't get a seat at the bar. The bartender was soo nice and so attentive. I got two beers and chicken ceaser wrap for 18 bucks, and got to watch the first inning of the game in a great atmosphere with fun people. I'm not one to ever go to crowded bars by myself, so I was a little nervous. But it was totally fine and a great place to wait if meeting someone.
Too bad the yanks lost today :(

I came here before a Yankees game last season.... SHOCKER!!!!

It was the best environment EVER! If you are scared of crowds and are coming here during the baseball season, you may wanna rethink your choice.

The beers and drinks are as overflowing as the clientele walking in the door, and there is a bottomless sea of blue and white. This place is my MECCA for any future games I attend!!!

I guess every bar around there is crowded during game time though.. right? Well, this one is definitely a fun one :)

Even when the Yanks are away this is a great place to watch the game. Decent bar food and a fair selection of beers. In fact, the best time to go is when the Yankees are away-- It's so much fun to watch the game with a bunch of other fans.  Come early and get a seat at the bar where you can watch the game on their nice flat screen TVs.

Did you know that Yankee Tavern has it's own staff baseball team? I saw them playing once at the public park not long ago. So, not only are they a fun sports bar but they know the Bronx. They are open all year, and yes you can watch a Mets game here too... or the super bowl.

I'd give them five stars, but their food is just regular bar stuff, if they ever fix that I'd be in heaven,

It was a great place to hang out before a game. With one exception, last night it was so crowded one could barely move and so my friend and I were sandwiched against the wall. A cable box fell from the ledge above and hit me squarely on the head. An employee asked if I was ok, but that was all. No follow up, not even a free beer or anything... Just a really sore spot on my head.

    3.5 stars...

If you've ever been to a major league baseball game you know that the prices of food and drinks are unreal. I decided to get to my Yankees game early and eat and drink outside the park at one of the several sports bars in the area. Yankees Tavern is steps from the subway and a block from the stadium so its really easy to get to. The place is packed on game day (I'm sure it's pretty slow otherwise). They've got a super long bar in the main area and a sit down type restaurant in the back.

As I was going to eat I thought I'd avoid the hectic crowd at the bar and get a table but as I stood by the entrance of the restaurant for a couple minutes with workers weaving around me and no one helping or telling me to seat myself I figured the service would probably be faster at the bar. In addition to their main menu they have about seven or so $5 meal deals (like sliders, hot dogs, chicken or meatball parms, or pulled pork, all with fries). The fries were the battered kind which were really good and well cooked (though ketchup was not made available to me they really didn't need any sprucing up). The pulled pork was pretty huge but oddly enough was topped with tomatoes and lettuce which I immediately disposed of. The untoasted bun and mushy pile of bbq soaked pork was edible but that's about it. Compared to anything you could get in Yankee stadium it was a fantastic value. $6 Coors light bottles or $5 Bud light drafts in small (12oz?) plastic cups were pretty expensive, and considering the beer inside the stadium is about $10 for a cup that holds about 22-24oz it doesn't really save you much money getting a buzz here first. Some of the people here were pretty obnoxious (being Yankees fans this is to be expected) but the service was decent considering the amount of people they had to deal with. It's an decent Yankees themed dive bar and if they came down on their beer prices (or up on the quantity) I'd probably have rounded up instead of down on this one.

It's a ritual to pre-game here before the game. Down a few $5 Bud Lights before heading to the stadium in time for roll call. The burgers, wraps and chicken tenders aren't awful either. Always a fun time and a rowdy crowd of Yankee fans!

This is a really fun and cool sports bar right outside Yankee Stadium.  I came here during a Yankee game and the place was packed with Yankee fans cheering and watching the TV.  The beer is cold and cheap and the food is really good.  The atmosphere and intensity of the bar is completely unlike anything I had experienced.

Great bar to hit up before a game.  Waaaay better than Billy's and Stan's.  Not as packed and a much friendlier crowd.  Not overrun by tourists and people who are completely lost (or drunk for that matter). Beers are "cheap" and they serve food too.  Excellent spot.  I am a fan!

The absolute worst.  Food is low end bar food...very low end.  Don't stray far beyond a burger here.  The worst part is the service.  Maybe it was just our waitress but she couldn't get anything right, was slow as a slug, and seemed to be frazzled. We sat there with empty glasses, waited on cold food, and when I asked to see a manager was snottily told he was busy and to "just leave".  This is my third time here and it has gone steadily downhill over the last few years.  Not sure if it's new ownership but it has certainly gone downhill.

This is a fun place to hang out at before or during a Yankees game. The people in attendance are all in a good mood and pumped for some baseball which makes for a nice atmosphere. The bartenders were all really nice and friendly. It does not get too packed surprisingly before a game. I highly recommend this place to anyone who is going to a Yankees game and needs a spot to hang out at before game.

Ok, we had good bar food. Clean and not too oily. So all around good. The best part however was the crowded bustling sports atmosphere and the amazing attentive service amidst the chaos, which is hard to find in NYC. I'm from Brooklyn, so I'm not saying this from the tourist perspective: this place felt like New York. There was just something about the crowd and the staff that I can't explain. Definitely hit it up for a pregame drink and dinner!

so you're at a yankee game and you need somewhere to go drinking afterwards. the pickings are slim: skeezy bar #1, trashy bar #2, dirtbag bar #3.. you want to go somewhere relatively sophisticated (in bronx bar terms, of course) and to avoid the bar brawls that tend to ensue after the celebrated bronx bombers (yankees) ermm.. bomb.. like they have been this season... and you need to go somewhere relatively decent, somewhere nearby, to maintain your level of tipsiness which is waning after the 2 hotdogs you pounded, but you are in the bronx next to yankee stadium-- where the hell do you go??

yankee tavern! compared to the rest of the joints near yankee stadium, this place is the ritz.  nothing special at all, except a bit of an older crowd that is less prone to spilling PBR all over your shoes after beating up some idiot that had the balls to wear a BOSOX (boston red sox) hat to a yankee bar.

drinks are pretty strong, good place to have a nightcap after a yankees game if you need to stick nearby the stadium.

risk: you're still in the bronx
reward: less riff raff than the rest of the yankee bars

During the baseball season, the Yankee Tavern is a really good spot to hit. The beers are cheaper than most around, the atmosphere is buzzing, and the bartenders know what they are doing. I would consider it the smarter place to go - Stan's, the Dugout, and Billy's seem to be more for the tourists, if you ask me.

Outside of the season though, the crowd consists of regulars who seem to almost always be there, whenever I go. It's actually a bit intimidating going in there as a stranger. A lot of times it's locals, sometimes court officers and lawyers show up. For a guy, there isn't really a lot of scenery, but if you want to go there and just get wasted, it's a good option.

The restaurant is separate from the bar, and just about anything I've ever had there has been great.
