Review from Michael A.
Linden, VA
Believe the hype! Best, and most authentic Japanese food I have ever tasted in my life. Wait a minute, in Front Royal?
Yamafuji is... AMAZING. Most Japanese restaurants you find in Northern Virginia are of the steakhouse only variety, serving only sushi in conjunction. While they have the tepanyaki tables and they do serve the most amazing sushi in the world, they also focus on numerous traditional dishes such as Katsu (breaded and fried meat with a tangy ginger sauce. i like the chicken!) Donburi (rice meat and veggies cooked in a clay pot, mmm) and omg wow, UDON! Udon is a traditional ramen-like soup with gigantic fat noodles that are unbelievably delicious and soak up so much of the broth... I'm getting hungry just thinking about it, and i just finished my to-go i got from Yamafuji earlier.
In short, if you live in or are visiting the Shenandoah area and you haven't tried Yamafuji yet, omg what are you waiting for? it sits quietly, waiting to become your new favorite restaurant!
one last thing: Why is their miso so good? ive had a lot of miso in my day, and wow. Theirs is so dark and flavorful! I wish I could buy it by the gallon! -

I can echo what everyone thus far has had to write about this establishment. I've been five times now and am impressed every time. Good service, friendly staff, fresh sushi and decent prices. A shining star in Shenandoah Valley!

I've been here a couple times already and I can't wait to go back. Everything I've tried here has been delicious - the sushi, seaweed salad, tempura, and the substantial veggie bento box - which has tofu teriyaki with veggies, a veggie roll (asparagus and avocado), veggie tempura, rice, and a decoratively peeled and sliced orange. Top quality, very fresh. The staff is so friendly and they take the time to answer any questions you have. Everyday there is a special - like 3 rolls for $5 on Wednesday, for example. On Sundays, it's all you can eat sushi for $18.50 but let's keep that a secret between you and me to avoid the mobscene :)

Believe the reviews because this place DEFINITELY has good sushi! Not the best I've had, but surprisingly good for Front Royal! Definitely better than quite a lot places in Fairfax! We had the Sushi Deluxe (with a choice of any special roll), and the Spicy roll combo (4 rolls! spicy white tuna, spicy tuna, spicy salmon, and spicy california roll) Definitely would come back here again! and we might soon since we are not that far away ;)

Shawsville, VA
We were visiting the area for a business meeting and asked at the hotel front desk for a recommendation. I was very concerned by the recommendation and a drive by the local dive they suggested confirmed it was not a place we wanted to visit.
Thankfully Yelp listed Yamafuji instead. Once I saw the reviews, I knew we had to try it. I am so glad that we did. The sushi was wonderful. All of the sushi was fresh and well prepared. The staff was very friendly and eager to please.
We will not be back in the area for a while but I will stop here again when we do. -

My girlfriend and I are spending a month in Linden and are nearing the end of our stay. We really would have liked to try the other restaurants in the area, but we made the mistake of coming to Yamafuji early on and now we keep going back. The staff is very friendly, the prices are reasonable (they have tons of specials to take advantage of), and the food is excellent. Highly recommended!

After reading the reviews, my wife and I decided to visit here. We were not disappointed. You wouldn't think of Front Royal for great sushi, but this place definitely has great sushi. My wife is still talking about how great the sushi was here. I am not a sushi fan, but they do have other Japanese food such as Udon, Teriyaki, and Katsu. They also have some great specials during various times such as all you can eat sushi and a sushi making class (which I think is on the third Sunday each month). I know we will be back again.

Fantastic sushi, as good as it gets. Unreal pricing (some rolls are only a few bucks!) -- fresh fish, exceptional presentation. All around, a 5 star joint.

Review from David H.
Alexandria, VA
We were in town as tourists for a few nights. This is a very nice sushi restaurant but it is by no stretch of the imagination a 5 star place to eat, no offense. It's fine but nothing shines. We asked for a saki and a beer and they were out of both. The server was nice and suggested two others which were great. The salad and miso is standard fare for such sushi places, but just lettuce leaves and 3-4 shaves of carrot. The food was fine but nothing stands out. If you are in Front Royal, definitely try this place out if you want sushi but don't expect 5 stars. It's a nice place with ok food and ok service.

We've been to Yamafuji several times since my first review and it's been consistently fantastic. We attended the "Tuna Festival" and couldn't believe how much incredible tuna we got (like 50+ pieces)...for $20. It was the high quality tuna that they serve everyday - no shortcuts. The staff is always incredibly fun to visit and they offer an excellent assortment of sake. Please note that this is NOT like any of the previous businesses that have occupied this space. This is truly high quality, fresh sushi, expertly prepared. If you love sushi (or have never tried it), I highly recommend that you stop by Yamafuji. Good stuff!

Yamafuji continues to have amazingly fresh fish-some of the best sushi i've ever had. I have gotten to know Kang and Marcus very well and they are very nice, sincere people. Also it's a great value with some of the specials they have. Quite frankly, I have trouble going anywhere else now. Check out their facebook page too! http://www.facebook.co...
