I've only been to a couple knock-off 50s diners, and I'm by no means old enough to tell you what they were like back in the olden days, but this place is as authentic as you can find in Washington state.
It's located right next to the Franklin outdoor pool, and the park where the annual Folk Festival is, and actually attached to the museum (which is quite fitting). I've always loved the Soda Fountain, but the hours are quite old-time too, so I rarely got to it before they closed.
They used to have their deal of the day, like a one scoop sundae for a really cheap price, or a cone, or a shake, etc. Each day had something different.
The only reason I knocked off a star is because the prices are quite expensive for ice cream, no matter how nostalgic the atmosphere may make you feel.
cute place, I remember when the fountain used to be in a place called "Jordan's" and I would go there with my dad. I like the fountain, it's not like you're going to get the most filling and nutritious meal - but it's not like you're going there for that, anyway.
