Santa Clara, CA
One of the better gelato places in the area. I chatted up the worker and he said that the ingredients come from Italy and they make it here with local milk and eggs. I've tasted the gelato IN Italy and this comes close! They also have non-dairy gelato in fruit flavors, which I'll try the next time around. The ambience is very cafe-like with Ikea decor. There's a set of four comfy leather chairs in one corner next to a bookshelf with some of the latest titles. The rest of the cafe has bistro-style tables and chairs.
Note that although the address is Meridian, the parking lot is accessible only on the cross street, Willow Street. So if you are going northbound on Meridian and pass it (thinking there's a driveway on the other side), you either have to make a u-turn or go around the block. The parking lot is fairly small too and it's shared with Togo's patrons.Listed in: Thank you, yelp!

Multiple Yelpers say BEST GELATO.
I really wanted a hot fudge sundae, but Peninsula Creamery quality rather than Baskin Robbins. Since we live in SJ and the Creamery was darn far...I tabled the hot fudge sundae for now and decided to try out Yagoz.
Hmm. Well it was tasty, but it's NOT the Best Gelato ever. Powells (which sells Gelato Classico) is much better. I tried mint chocolate chip, chocolate italia, and mocha chip. Yep 3 scoops. It's called a solo Sunday Night dinner. YUM.
Mint Chocolate Chip was that weird super green color that I can't stand, it looks totally artificial. Not like green really ever looks natural, but whatever. My least fave of the three.
Chocolate Italia was a super dark chocolate...and really yummy. Very rich....this in a shake would be divine.
The Mocha Chip was the big winner for me. I flat out love coffee ice cream and mocha is no exception, hello....chocolate and coffee mixed together is a total no brainer.
The service was super friendly, place was dead quiet. I would go back, but honestly I am a little disappointed I didn't totally love it. I would PREFER going to this place over Powells, but unfortunately I think Powells has better tasting gelato and I'm all about the flavor.Listed in: Oh, Sweet Tooth.

this place loves YELPERS! I came in and got some gelato and was greated by the owner. He was so determined to make sure my guests and I walked out super happy. I got a discount and a lil something for free. Is it bad that I went 2 days back to back?
I hope they stay open...I love this joint!

SUPPORT THE SMALL, LOCAL SHOPS!
C'mon...you know you want to.
They have a new flavor every day and I enjoy the novelty atmosphere. I have had gelato from Rome Italy, and this place is legit. Nothing is like gelato from Italy, but this is a good economical option if you don't want to fly half cross the world for sweets. I like that they have coffee, gelato, and other fun options. Props to the ambiance that includes sofas, a tv, and books to read. Friendly staff, yummy sweets for the timba...you know I am all set. Mint chip and chocolate amaretto are my favorite combinations-don't forget to ask for 2 flavors in the cup..double the pleasure!Listed in: Mom and Pop Shops, Somewhat of a COLD…

Not bad. Cannot compare to gelateria in Italy, but oh, we aren't in Italy. Great selection of flavors. Live music is played at the store sometimes.
I will have to come back to try an espresso. A small number of outdoor tables makes this place dog-ok.
I'd give this place 3.5 stars for the taste (well, I tried two flavors--have to try more to give a thorough taste test) but add a 0.5 star for outdoor seating and the live music/ambience.Listed in: Certified Dog-ok Eateries

So my SO was in trouble, yet again and decided to surprise me with some Gelato. As far as apologies go, this was one of his better ideas. He bought the mocha and it was delish! You go, Yagoz!
I've been back a couple of time, but have yet to try their organic coffee. I'll have to remember to buy some on my next Gelato excursion, -

So I normally judge all gelato places by their pistachio . . . Yagoz does not do a good pistachio. I give them four stars, however, due to the unique/creative flavors that they come up with that are quite good. I am particularly fond of the mandarlone (an amaretto/hazelnut blend) and jamaicun rum chocolate.
I also appreciate: 1. they have a frequent customer card, although I don't bother with one, 2. liberal with the tastings, and 3. generous portions.Listed in: Best Sweet Treats in the Bay…

I came here about 8 months ago. The teenage boy was chit-chatting on his cell phone the whole time he s.l.o.w.l.y scooped my gelato.
I got violently sick soon after I finished eating the gelato... I actually liked what I was eating, but I don't want to ever risk getting that sick again. Too bad. -
Review from Vicky L.
I'll be desperate enough to use global warming as an excuse to indulge in my weekly gelato cravings. I'm impressed by the quality and consistency of the gelato here; chocolate and raspberry together definately hits the spot!
Service here is sometimes hit or a miss, when you go in during the day, the high school staff tends to be a little rude and impatient. -
Review from Esther Y.
I went here for an after-lunch treat and had heard pretty good things about this place. I could tell some flavors were more popular than others, and I tried a lot of them, but I think on average most flavors were just OK. I did like the coffee (or espresso) hazelnut but I didn't think I could have a lot of it. The guy behind the counter recommended pineapple, so I just got a green-sized (the smallest) cup of that. It was good, but nothing to rave about, and I might not come back unless my co-workers come. Definitely nothing to go out of your way for.
Oh, they stamp the back of your receipt - if you collect 9 stamps you can get one for free.
For a better alternative, and one that's more worth going out of your way for, I recommend Gelayo Gusto in Mountain View. I think Gelateria Naia (there's several of them) is a lot better too. -

Three things make a real gelateria: tasting spoons handed out liberally with an intent to show off one's own artisan craft not to guilt trip prospective customers into buying, flavors that deviate from the very American "put some candy bar in milk and freeze" or chocolate chip trauma, and Affogato.
Yagoz has them all three. Add to that free Wireless, books and magazines, a friendly staff, excellent coffee and a quiet atmosphere just made to read, write, or quietly enjoy ones drinks and ice cream, and this is the place to go. -

While the gelato is way yummy, I mostly go there for the coffee. Organic. Fair trade. Yummmmmm.
Randomly, my mom and I sat at one of the tables, chatting, drinking, eating, I used the wireless, we watched the Shark's game -- two hours.
It's like sitting in a friend's living room, with access to fabulous coffee and delicious desserts. The staff is completely friendly and the owner is kind and clearly loves his business.
I live in the East Bay, but when I drive down to visit family, I always stop by on my way in.
Thank goodness that in the land of Staryucks, there are still coffee places like this. -
Review from Ann L.
I tried it. It's behind a Togo's on Meridian. I liked the different gelatos especially the one w/ chocolate and nuts and nut-based ones. They are great with giving you lots of samples. There are two clean bathrooms. Free Wifi for those that need that. I think there was a "cleaner" smell but can't remember anymore.

Very nice place. They have lots of books kept here for folks who want to relax and read. They also have a few games kept here, in case you want to spend time. Very nice ambience.
The Gelato is just okay. Staff is very friendly too.
Good if you want to relax and spend some time. -

YUM,YUM and YUM! i heart this place. i prefer the fruit gelato flavors -pineapple, mango and strawberry are the best.
I usually order a pint when I have Sarpinos (next door) deliver my awesome dinner.
I actually went into the store and was helped by the nicest girl who offered samples of the other flavors. tiramisu and cookies and creme. both yummy as heck! -

Milpitas, CA
Best gelato place in the area. They have an assortment of gelato and sorbetto flavors to keep you coming back. Plus, the gelato is stored at just the right temperature that there aren't any ice crystals in your serving--the way gelato should be served. Sorbetto of choice: mango. If you want to go for something new, the friendly staff is always willing to let you try out the flavors.
Pluses: delicious gelato and sorbetto flavors, friendly staff
Drawback: If your flavor of choice runs out, try your luck another day. They only make batches periodically. -

Before you ask, Yagoz is actually an acronym for Yet Another Gelato Operation. What's up with the Z you ask? Well, the worker/owner(?) says it's there for flavor. Ya know, I'm a little skeptical of the explanation but that's neither here nor there.
So you just heard the worst of my review, because I have nothing bad to say about Yagoz product. I ordered a White Chocolate Coffee and Caramel Crunch shake and it was soooooooo delicious! I couldn't stop sipping at it and sipping at it, so much that it ruined my appetite for dinner!!! I'll definitely be back to try other flavors, but when you pick a winner like that, it's hard to deviate.
Twaz a great find! I'll give it an A! -

Mmmmm...gelato! I've only gotten gelato to go here, so I've never actually hung out at the place. They're really nice about letting you sample different flavors. They serve coffee from Barefoot Coffee Roasters (good coffee)...I haven't bought any here, but there's a sign, so I ended up talking to the worker behind the counter about that...that's cool that the local businesses collaborate & support each other.
There's some tables & chairs, a couple more comfy looking chairs by the front, a bookshelf with books (in case you forgot to bring your own book to read & want to hang out), & chess set, so it looks like it'd be a nice place to hang out. There's also a few tables & chairs outside. Strangely enough, whenever I come by, it's pretty empty. Granted, I tend to stop by on a weekday around lunch time when I'm not working, so maybe that's why.
Even though the address is Meridian, it's more like it's on Willow (southwest corner of Willow & Meridian), behind Togos. The entrance to the parking lot is actually off Willow. -

I was craving gelato and had visions of gelato ecstacy when I entered Yagoz - all to be subdued when I actually tried their gelato. Nice, clean, and modern place inside but their gelato was just okay. Their Italian chocolate is quite tasty. The pistachio was okay but unnaturally green colored in a deep green way. However, the thing I didn't like about their gelato was that it was too fluffy creamy versus smooth creamy. The texture was just slightly strange and I didn't like it as much as other gelatos I have had in the SF Bay Area.
Bottom line: Nice place, decent service, okay gelato. -

Decent gelato here; poor service.
I brought 6 people, some of whom had never tried gelato (now converted, of course) and the lady running the register was rude and curt and it just wasn't nice. Also, I can't stand the florescent lighting in this place, it just doesn't have that warm, cozy atmosphere. The gelato is good, but I know all kinds of places with great gelato, this just doesn't hit the mark. -

My cousin Justin and I were driving around looking for a place to eat since we couldn't find the Mexican Taqueria my brother in law recommended us to try. Instead of driving around some more, I decided to stop by Sardino's Italian Pizzeria and order some pasta. Since their door was open, and had all their chairs up on the counter-tops, I walked two doors just to find a warm place to sit and grab some coffee.. This place was Yagoz. I had no idea how unique this place was.
I got to meet Bhatia (the owner) and he happily gave me a sample of some dulce de leche gelato and I must say that it was absolutely delicious. What I was really there for was the coffee, so I went ahead and tried a White Mocha. Besides being a great price ($3.45 for a medium cup), the coffee was super rich and tasty. Bhatia made sure to also inform me that all their coffees are "fair trade" and roasted locally.
When it came time to pick up our food at Sardinos, I picked it up and brought it right back into Yagoz. I asked Bhatia if he wouldn't mind if we ate it in there since we were nice and warm inside already. He gracefully said yes and that it wasn't a problem. Before we knew it, my cousin Justin and I got so deep into our conversation that we lost track of time. I didn't realize that it was 9:30pm until I looked up and asked Bhatia what time they closed.
He said that they closed at 9pm. I apologized profusely and said sorry for making him stay open just for us and he said that it was okay. Now how is that for service? I'm definitely going back to try some more gelato when my bronchitis clears up.
This place is an awesome place to go for not only their service but their gelato AND coffee.. =) -
Review from Robert S.
Los Angeles, CA
For me, some flavors were excellent and others were bland, uninspired or artificial flavor tasting. Perhaps after repeated visits, I would figure this out and could have a 5 star experience with each visit by ordering the best flavors. Pistachio was the standout excellent flavor when I visited.
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and while I did not study the costs before ordering, this place seemed like a bargain with me walking away with two kids cones and a large 2 or 3 scoop cone for $4-5, a lot less than I would have paid for inferior ice cream at a national chain.
It is also remarkable that this place is a bit difficult to find, located in a strip mall behind a sub store. -

I go out of my way to go to Yagoz when I'm craving gelato. There are some places closer to me, but they just don't hit the spot the way Yagoz does.
First off, theire flavors are so creative. I have so many favorites I can't ever pick just one... chocolate pistaccio, chocolate hazelnut, zabaglione, walnut, amaretto ... just to name a few. I don't think that I've had anything that I haven't liked.
The portions are generous and a great value. The place is always clean and the service has been gracious and polite.
I would definitely recommend this place highly! -

I've been hunting down Gelato places in the last 2 months. My reviews are based mostly on the flavors I like and if they have it.
I am a fruity chic. I like cantelope, watermelon, mango...
They only had 1 of the 3. It was the mango sorbet. I decided to get it along with strawberry. Out of the 4 gelato places I've been to I hate to say but the mango is not as good as the others. I was disappointed. I was hoping to really like this place.
Gelato is freshly made and they have other flavors. Not sure how they taste though. Location is a little hard to find. -

When i walked in, i was sure the "People love us on yelp" sticker on the door would make me love this place. i cant even say i like this place. 12:15 in the afternoon, no one was in there. not even anyone behind the counter. i spent a solid 5 mins alone, staring at all the flavors. The crazy thing was, not one looked like something i wanted to try. hmm.
finally the lady came out from the back, and offered me a taste. so, i tasted apricot. ugh.
finally, after a few more tastings, i decided to buy a scoop of mango, since it was the only flavor that wasnt so overpowering i tried all their fruit flavors and i feel it was overpowered by..something, i dont know what.
What i had was not gelato. was verrryyyyyy sweet. gelato should be light, sweet, and creamy. what i had was mango ICE, not gelato. boo.
I just moved here from San Diego, so call me spoiled, but Gelato Vero on India st in SD is TOP NOTCH gelato. the real deal. not this stuff.
i wont be going back. i suggest looking elsewhere for gelato.
*edit* why when i search for boba, this is the first thing to show? do they eve have boba here??! do i even wanna know??! -

Best dessert spot in the south bay, hands down! They have a great gelato selection and don't charge you an arm & a leg for a 2 oz. cup like all the other gelato places. Not a coffee drinker, but the Mrs. gives it the thumbs-up.
Our favorite part is the entertainment! Caught the Warriors game on their flatscreen tv the other night. Plus they have a nice selection of books, magazines and.... board games! We always make a beeline for the scrabble set after we secure the gelato. Fun times! -

This place is amazing! The service is better than anywhere. The people working here are always extremely friendly, offer samples, and let you know when some great flavors are coming in soon. One time I came in (i wasn't even a regular) and they let my try some of the special flavors they make!
I love getting a gelato and the hamentashen cookies are the best shortbread-esqe dessert I've tasted outside my own kitchen.
If you haven't been here, you are missing out. -

My fellow Yelpers did not disappoint. This place has some good Gelato. Yum! I got some coffee crunch something in a shake and it was HELLA good. I wasn't sure what to expect from a Gelato shake but it was delish! And there are even some cool little tables to hang out in and a multitude of game choices (Scrabble, Checkers, etc).

I live near here and I love to go in, sit and play board games with friends, and enjoy a new flavor. The lastest favorite flavor is Noughat w/ Praline. I was thoroughly impressed with that one! They are always thanking the customers for coming, offering new flavors to sample, and offering waters while you sit and play games and talk. Very cool place! He even offered to "create" a berry sundae for me when there wasn't anything like it on the menu. It turned out delicious.

Haven't tasted the Gelato yet but my daughter loved the Raspberry! Me and my son-in-law love coffee Frap style drinks and both of us tried the Mocha Frappe. Oh my goodness! We both kept taking sips and saying, "Mmmmmmm." It's like a dessert through a straw. SO good..only thing I can say is it could use just a TAD more coffee flavor. The person behind the counter had about as much of a personality as my doorknob! I tried to make small talk with her but the only reason I knew she was still alive was because she was still serving us! I even told her their Mocha Frappe's were better than Starbucks and she kind of smirked at me...Kind of rude!

I love this place. The people are always super friendly. They have FREE wifi, which is a huge bonus, because Star--wha across the street does not. Lame. Coffee is yummy and gelato is amazing. My sister and I meet here every Friday, it is super mellow and we get lots of work done. I full recommend.

No complaints here. I usually like the creamier stuff with chocolate chips or something like that, and my man sticks to a combo of chocolate and some sort of fruit flavor. I like the magazines and Wi-fi, although the atmosphere would be better if we weren't the only patrons every time we came here!

I want to say I love this place ... because the gelato is fantastic and I love that they have games and all that to play. But steer clear of the espresso beverages... they've changed the recipe to some of them and the last time I ordered my iced mocha is tasted rotten and it really hurt my stomach. As far as the gelato is concerned it;s fantastic and always full flavored. I love the tiramisu it's my fav.

A bit hard to find; located on Meridian and Willow, diagonally across Yum Yum Donuts and behind Togos. Parking is plenty adjacent to the shop. They don't have that disinfectant cleaner smell anymore. The gelato is made fresh and it is good and creamy - the pricing isn't bad at all. Samples are given very generously - feel free to try all the flavors. My default flavor is chocolate hazelnut - this place does a good job of supplying me that -I got it to go and finished it right before getting to the freeway exit. Oh, bring your laptop bc they provide free wifi and a few lounge chairs.

i'm a fan of "yet another gelato o-something" (that's how the owner described the name.
... the owner was working the night i was there and he was really friendly.. try the different flavors before you decide what you like.. the only down side was it was hard for me to decide..
the lemon gelato had a crazy kick..but i was good..
look for the togos sign when driving on meridian from 280.. and the parking lot is a bit small so you might have to park on the street.. -

Agreed, this is one of the better gelato places I've had so far. The employee was really friendly and helpful with our selections. I couldn't decide which flavor to get so he suggested we try all of them, which we almost did. I had a large with Tiramisu, Chocolate Chip, and pecans and cream. The pecans and cream was my favorite out of the three. The white chocolate caramel crunch (sp?) was one of the better ones I had too. The place is really nice and clean and they even have books, magazines, and board games for customers to use. My friends and I were just kickin back having some gelato and playing connect four, I felt like a freakin kid in there. Good times though, I will definitely return. They even have the frequent customer stamps where if you buy 9, you get the 10th one free. Pretty sweet indeed, just more incentive for me to go back.

I like this place. A very nice looking gelato and coffee place. For coffee, it has a very large menu. I tried one of the coffee drinks the other day (forgot the name of the coffee drink) and it was pretty good. That was until the very bottom of the cup. I tasted what seems to me to be the grind that came from the coffee beans, etc. The service by the lone employee was excellent. But then, the place was amazingly quiet on a gloomy cloudy day.
I will definitely come back to this place to try their other coffee and non coffee drinks. And also their gelatos, which is what they are known for, according to the Wave and Metro. -

My boyfriend and I were craving gelato. Not knowing any place near by, I text to google, and this was the closest place to us. The employee was very nice, but the gelato was ok. Finding great customer service is hard to find, so that's why I'm writing a review here. The employee wasn't pushy or rude and appreciated our business. The place is nice too.
